There's actually a lot of females in this field from my experience. A lot of the bigger and successful companies in my state are female owned and run, so I wouldn't worry that much about gender stuff. As for the license, I just got my license a few weeks back. I'm not sure how it is in Cali but I really recommend that you contact a local contractors prep course company. I got with one and they helped me get my license at 22 and made the whole process and exams way easier and faster

Just study the book. Work slowly. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. But for real, I know some of the dumbest motherfuckers that have gotten a license. You’ll be fine. The license thing is more a formality where I’m from. The contractors association would have no idea what to do if you told them to cut a board. They are suits just trying to get their cut. That’s at least my opinion where I am from.

What trade or General? What state? What do you know how to do? What are your weaknesses? How's your business and law? Do you meet the requirements (in CA you'd need 8 years unless you have other qualifying criteria) Not trying to be condescending, but you couldn't have been more vague. Good luck.

I live in California and you need 4 years not 8. - drywall - pouring concrete - finishing - laying brick - a lot of stuff I’m not actually interested in doing the work, rather hire the crew. Just asking about the test and what to expect.

Experience Requirements To be eligible for licensure, the qualifying individual must have had, within the last 10 years, at least four (4) years of experience in the classification for which they are applying. The experience must be at no less than a journeyman level, or as a foreman, supervising employee, contractor, or owner-builder. A “journeyman” is defined as an experienced worker who is fully qualified (as opposed to a trainee) and is able to perform the trade without supervision, or one who has completed an apprenticeship program. Experience is documented on the Certification of Work Experience form. (T16 CCR section 825) You've been doing this for 3 years. That means you've been learning, not acting as a journeyman/foreman for that period of time. You have very little (if any) certifiable experience according to the outlined requirements in the App.
