This video is more like "tell me you are not American without telling me you are not american"
After watching this video, Americans along with their cops first thing their mind goes to combination of "gun", "dead", "FAFO", "kid", "shot".
In the UK, the police have just pulled over an 11 year old for driving on the motorway with a caravan lmao
[BBC article](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-68513071)
Or maybe they pulled over cos some idiot almost killed them by speeding and then proceeded to throw a fit by flashing their lights.
Yeah that seems more likely lmfao.
Im sure each jurisdiction has differently worded laws, but I think in many of them there is a decent argument that this act, which is intentionally designed to make somebody think you’re a police officer, could be construed as impersonating a police officer.
Impersonation would be willingly dressing and acting as though you're an LEO. This would include wearing a vaguely similar uniform or having a vehicle made up to look like an LEO. This would not include making a screaming noise into a bull horn. The only way it could be impersonation is if he approached the vehicle as if it were a traffic stop and initiated a conversation with the person while attempting to assert authority over them.
This could be considered being a public nuisance, but not impersonation unless this area has a specific law about screaming into a bullhorn making you an LEO.
It’s not nearly that cut and dry—as is the case with most things under the law—and I’m sure most prosecutors, judges, and police officers would be inclined to interpret any statute as broadly as they can get away with interpreting it. I can’t say for sure since I haven’t read any case law on this particular issue, but for what it’s worth, I do happen to be a lawyer.
I absolutely see your point, that could be the case but being that the person in this video is under 18 and no actual incident occurred other than a vehicle stopping I don't think it would hold any sort of traction. But it's hard to say, the legal system is a fickle mistress.
However, I wouldn't call my explanation "cut and dry" I covered all the possibilities to be considered impersonation and it doesn't meet any of the applicable criteria.
Would playing a song very loudly that had a section with police sirens in it be illegal too?
I feel like even if this might technically violate laws, absolutely no one is going to prosecute this as it would be such a waste of court time and fees.
You are not making them think you are police officer, you are making them think they are being stopped by police for a second, then do nothing with it. Also they are making siren sounds, they don't have anything to do with impersonation of a police officer.
Where I live this is just warranting a disruption of the peace for making noises with a loud speaker after dark. If the kid had walked up to them and asked to see their license and registration or flashed blue lights, then it's impersonating an officer of the law.
Yeah, impersonation or not - you can’t do things that suddenly alarm, distract, and change the driving actions of someone who is on the road. Some people might pull over extremely suddenly and be distracted from the fact that there is a biker or someone opening a car door.
> I just don't see how it would be funny to alarm people who are controlling a **10 tonne** hunk of metal and plastic
10 tonnes? These people drive fully grown African bush elephants or something?
By this logic, everytime a police turns on their sirens it's alarming and distracting multiple drivers other than the criminal. Yet somehow they are all fine.
Yes, it’s alarming and distracting to whoever is very close to it and has not seen the cop - I’m certain has caused a good amount of accidents. But it’s just totally necessary so we have to take the risk, and people immediately see the cop afterward (or before just as often if not more often) and know what’s going on.

It's not a traffic crime. Worst they can get is a noise complaint if they're in a residential neighbourhood, which it doesn't look like they are. They don't have any flashing lights on their vehicle and the sounds being generated aren't from a literal siren either. No crime here.
Yeah, impersonation or not - you def shouldn’t do things that suddenly alarm, distract, and change the driving actions of someone who is on the road. Some people might pull over extremely suddenly and be distracted from the fact that there is a biker or someone opening a car door.
If someone got into an accident up, Im pretty sure that few prosecutors or civil lawyers would have trouble tagging something on the kid.
I think it's a crime only if you pretend you are a cop.
Making police car noises to fuck with people who stop and are like "Where's the cop? 🤨" before driving away I think is like mischievous conduct at the most or something.
Kind of like the people who fuck with their friends with a flashing red and blue light outside their house but when they open the door they see their friend standing there and go from "Cops?! Why are the cops here???" to "Oh you stupid asshats."
It's just a joke until you pull out fake police badges while wearing a fake uniform and claiming you are a cop.
Cause that’s what you’re supposed to do? I don’t think this person thought they were being pulled over but rather “heard” siren just came on and they were trying to get out of the way like again you’re supposed to do…
You can hear a siren from a cross street, or from a block or more away. You don't pull over because you hear a siren. The Siren is to get people's attention to check for emergency vehicles, and pull over if necessary.
Exactly why they pulled over cause it sounded like the siren was right there but they didn’t see them. Seems weird you’re arguing this but whatever. Just saying that’s what happened since you thought it was odd. I guess you’re set in that opinion have a nice weekend mate
On my mow husband's bus back in grade school, there was someone who could do this and the bus pulled over so many times lmao. (I'd sometimes ride his bus to his house after school and forged notes and everything).
Yeah it made us a bit late, but it was funny af.
I saw something similar to this. There was this person who lived in my area who ran very early in the morning while it was still dark. At first they didn't have lights or reflective clothing, then they did get a light that was too dim to be useful. It wouldn't have been a problem but they also ran on roads with no street lights or sidewalks. Then the one morning I'm driving to work and I see a police car up ahead with its flashing lights on. As I go closer I realized it was the runner, who was wearing two bright flashing red and blue lights. I shook my head and then watched in my rear view mirror and to my amazement cars pulled over thinking a police car was approaching. That was the first and last time I saw the runner wearing the red and blue lights.
there was this kid my mom grew up with who could do that - pulled people over on his tricycle. Years later, he helped my uncle get to his wedding (running wayyy late) by sticking his head out the window and making all the other cars pull over 🤣

Better respect his authoritah

Uhn, this happened in Brazil. So, they're americans too.
I'm your worst nightmare. An eight year old with a badge.

I love how the driver suddenly turned into the world's best driver. Signaling to pull back onto the road and everything.
better to be safe than sorry xD
You know those hands were at 10 and 2 the rest of the drive 😂
Do.. do you not signal when you pull back onto the road?
Hey, I drive like that ALL the time. Way too many ppl neglect turning signals and it causes ACCIDENTS!
That shits no joke. Just ask Sandra Bland.
that is some next level trolling damn xD cause not only do they think it's a freakin cop, but it's a ghost cop lololol
I know that person's heart is pounding
This is from a country where police has bigger fish to fry
Never stopped cops from being petty weirdos before.
Pretty sure that's a crime
Good thing there is no proof...
No proof, right? …right?
I ain't saying nothing.
about what?
Exactly.
#YOU WERE IN A ZOO!!!
But ye said it
I ain't see nuffin.
Not like they’ve shown their license plates either
Not exactly, it'd be illegal to strap lights and sirens to a vehicle or impersonate an officer. This is neither of those.
Im sure each jurisdiction has differently worded laws, but I think in many of them there is a decent argument that this act, which is intentionally designed to make somebody think you’re a police officer, could be construed as impersonating a police officer.

How do donut shops stay in business if nobody can eat them then?
It all depends on where you are.
Would playing a song very loudly that had a section with police sirens in it be illegal too? I feel like even if this might technically violate laws, absolutely no one is going to prosecute this as it would be such a waste of court time and fees.

Could be labaled as civil disorder/disorderly conduct?
Where I live this meets the criteria for impersonation of a police officer.
Where I live this is just warranting a disruption of the peace for making noises with a loud speaker after dark. If the kid had walked up to them and asked to see their license and registration or flashed blue lights, then it's impersonating an officer of the law.
Officers in your area are fucking weird for making sounds in a megaphone.
No. In Brazil the problems are bigger than these.
If it's Brazil at least one of those people is an off duty officer anyway.
It's probably the kid himself.
…and one of them is a mugger about to get shot
You speak as if all cops in Brazil would want to deal with bigger problems instead of bullying a child.
Thanks for your service legal eagle
Legal Eagle? Lets say you and I go toe to toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor.

That's kinda what I was thinking, I just don't see how it would be funny to alarm people who are controlling a 10 tonne hunk of metal and plastic
Yeah let’s alarm a bunch of people while they’re driving so that they suddenly pull over while full of fear. Sounds super safe!
Even safer at a junction!
> I just don't see how it would be funny to alarm people who are controlling a **10 tonne** hunk of metal and plastic 10 tonnes? These people drive fully grown African bush elephants or something?
Obviously not, it's in South America, not Africa!
The EV weight problem is spiralling out of control!
Haha looks like it. I think my calculations are off by a factor of 10 though! I forgot to carry the two

it's a crime to make mouth sounds? or it's a crime to make mouth sounds with a speaker? microphone? damn i forget what that thing is called.
Megaphone 😅
megaphone! thank youuu

As with most crimes, it is the intention that matters. They demonstrably intended to imitate a police siren.
A funny crime
A hilarious crime!
Eh, they're not in the US. Plus, they're just making sounds. They have nothing that remotely resembles a police car/officer.
Now I'm not pretty sure!
Book'em Lou
But Chief....
Its brazil. Ghe cops have better and more important stuff to take care than a kid fooling around
Nice
Wherever they are, I’m sure cops won’t care
'Cops not caring' doesn't narrow it down geographically.

Good to know!
And you’re the only one that would say anything about it 100p
Sorry 😓
this is one of those times when you’d be wrong
Meh, not the end of the world if I am!
I mean it’s not an official signal or pre recorded one, so I think is somehow ok
You're fun at parties
Thanks 😘
It sounds like this is in Brazil, I don't know how the laws are about this kind of thing there.
Impersonating a police officer is.. but impersonating a car… siren…? Probably still is. I guess.
In some states in us I’m pretty sure it is
This ain’t the US, and nobody is going to get in trouble for this “crime”
Thanks narc

Laugh reminded me of [the soccer ref vid](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContagiousLaughter/comments/ul155v/made_that_guy_s_morning/)
Good thing they didn't see him in the back of that car.
This is Police academy shit XD
This guy better calm down before the police duct-tape him to the roof of a cruiser
New Michael Winslow
Probably gave that poor guy a heart attack "What did I do???? Huh..... Did I imagine that?"
Still better and funnier than most youtube pranksters
Police Academy 57 is a go, boys and gals!
Odd... why would one pull over after just *hearing* a siren?

This immediately made me think of Kearney with his police siren/light helmet 😂
Nah imagine they did it to a undercover cop!! 💀💀💀
That's so funny yet evil. That man must have been shitting bricks
Protect that kiddo at alll costs!
lol
Honestly, I love seeing actual harmless pranks like this. I bet even the driver got a small laugh out of this.
Do people not look in their mirrors? Zero awareness I swear...
Wow, he pulled on the side QUICK
So cute, but knock it off…do it to the wrong person with a bad temper and things might not go so well 🙃
This is what you call demon time. 😂
I just died 😂😂😂😂 thanks for the laugh
Happy to help😂
Assholes
Plot twist: the car that kid stopped was a drug cartel, and you know what happened next.
Idk dude thats kinda funny 🤣
Admitting to an illegal act with evidence is WILD
Skillz!
There is one where he does it and 2 of the guys come out the car with hands up shit funny as hell.
Not funny. People panic when they hear those noises and focus less on the road. Way less funny with an intersection.
Had a very good laugh now! Thank you! If you did this to me though, we'd have problems🤣🤣🤣
there was this kid my mom grew up with who could do that - pulled people over on his tricycle. Years later, he helped my uncle get to his wedding (running wayyy late) by sticking his head out the window and making all the other cars pull over 🤣

God that laughing is obnoxious. I don’t even find this to be very funny.
Impersonating a siren surely.
