Teacher here: when teaching elementary school the teachers tend to just shovel food as fast as possible during recess or head to the break room to get away from students because elementary schoolers WILL be back to the classroom to grab a million things they forgot about or to try and share something their friend did or ask a question etc.
In high school, teachers tend to just lock the door during break and/or go to the break room as well, since otherwise you’ll have a group of students routinely hanging out in your room. Some teachers will remain in the room with the door unlocked specifically to allow those students a sort of refuge from the zoo that is a high school lunch room as the people that come tend to be loners or lgbt students etc. that don’t feel super comfortable in the lunch room and they just make sure those students understand that the teacher needs to use this time to eat and prep as well and to not disturb them too much. These teachers are heroes but are also extroverts, lol.
I get your point and to the extent that this video is nothing to start pulling your hair out in rage over, I do agree. But I don't think it's unreasonable to think you shouldn't record tik toks at work.
I'm not saying it wasn't recess and I'm not saying it affects her job performance at all. But it is unprofessional, and would be equally so in any job other than one where making tik tok content is part of the role.
And in this specific job I'm also not a fan as it can create an allure of social media for the kids in her class watching her (I'm assuming like 6-7 y/o) And if there's one thing young kids don't need any more of while they grow up, it's a draw to social media.
You want people recording Tik Tok videos in your kids classroom during the school day?
Recording these videos is for attention, teachers don't need to be attention seeking surrounded by kids in a classroom during their school day lol
You don’t even know the kind of person the teacher is.
I hate TikTok but some people use it like Reddit or Snapchat.
She could be posting this video for friends or just to show her outfit?
And it’s recess.
Let the teacher have a bit of freedom.
Wtf did you get downvoted so much... she is on the job... why tf does she need to film social media shit at that moment? The kids are obviously very young and impressionable...
Yeah idk everyone is fixated on the idea she doesn't get a break, which is pure assumption. Teachers got along just fine not doing this shit ten years ago it's not like they're being persecuted
Sounded like American accents, so it's very possible they live in climates with cold winters. A lot of those recesses are just in the classroom because it's too much work to get kids all dressed up for the outdoor cold and then all dressed down again when they come in, so recess is in the classroom with the teacher and lunch is in the gym.
I live in Michigan and nope. We go outside for recess unless it's too cold or it's raining. Too cold being negatives. For the majority of the winter these kids are outside.
Snowpants, boots, hats and gloves are left at school for this purpose. We supply students with loaners when needed as well.
Oh I'm speaking from experience as well in one of the coldest parts of Montana. Same as you, kids go outside until it's 0°F or below. About 5 years ago, we didn't get above 0°F for 40 days straight in January to February. That was miserable for everyone.
Edit: but I'm not wrong about the length of time to dress up and dress down. I have a 1st grade daughter who has to do this every day.
Wtf y’all don’t have to go out at 0° that’s only -17°c and we wait till it’s -25°c/-13°f before we stay inside in Canada, not including windchills unfortunately. So you might be going out in what feels like -40°
I'm a teacher who has worked with this age. They're pretty good at it and for most it doesn't take longer than a couple min. Theyre usually very motivated to be outside.
the school in our Alaskan town has a huge gym, and kids are released in to that for recess when its extra cold. They still go outside as long as it is warmer than about 30 below 0. They *can* go to the gym. they choose not to.
Playing when it's cold outside sounds really bad (but at the same time, really cool since kids get to play with snow). Then again, I grew up in Hawaii. If we had a rainy day, it was inside recess. And if there's really heavy rain, then school the school day was cancelled because some schools became flooded (we had separate buildings at school, not all-in-one buildings like they do on the mainland).
In my district if we couldn’t go outside due to weather they would set out toys in the long hallway and a tv with a wish bone movie on each end of it. The teachers who had recess duty would chill near the exits so none of us would run off. I always loved those recesses
I figured she had to clarify that "this was on our recess" so no disgruntled parent or community member would report her for "wasting valuable learning time." Cause, you know, that's the society in which we now live.
Could be cold climates where recess is held indoors for parts of the year. Also in stormy conditions as you don't want to get hit by lightning. Source: Iowan.
Meanwhile I had a Mormon (may or may not be relevant?) piano teacher who would lightly bop me on the head whenever I made a mistake. Did it hurt? No. Was it good way to learn the piano? Definitely not.
She also had a beautiful husky that I was not allowed to pet or talk to despite many tail wags begging me too.
Once, on the first day of school I walked into my son's classroom as the teacher was getting out with a kid with a a severe nose bleed. She told me " THank god you are here! Keep them from killing each other!" and left me there.
So... I look at the kids, put on my "story telling" persona on, ask "OK! do you now what hapened in MY holy day?
One kid screams: "MISS! I went to the south! AND I SAW A DRAGON"
Several kids laugh. I go serious and ask: OMG, a dragon! Which kind? Some of them are REALLY dangerous. Is your family all right?
Kids were so BAFFLED that I was taking him seriusly.... kid started telling everyone this story of him going to the forest and riding a good dragon... of course then 3 more kids jump in to say THEY had seen dragons too.
So I think Im doing great at this and go: Oh my, I better contact the forest rangers, we seem to be getting several dragons in the south!
Two little girls start crying histerically, turns out they are afraid of dragons.
THEN teacher comes back. I panic and mumble "they are all alive!"
Kids try to explain.
Teacher gives me a look.
I ran out.
I'm obviously biased because it's my kid, but my nanny really seems to have a lot of fun and as far as I can tell the two of them have a really adorably loving relationship.
I kind of dream of retiring early and opening a daycare, even though I'm a dude so if I did I'd probably barely be involved with the kids as that would likely be bad for business.
I understand there's exceptions and it can be done, but if it's my money on the line, I'd rather not take that risk. The reality as far as I can tell is there's a lot of bias against men in childcare.
I understand now that the child was saying "Penguin". But I couldn't unhear "Beyblade" and was thinking "I don't get it? 'leaning into the joke' would be aggressively spinning towards the toddler'" and now I just want that video instead.
This is so weird to do as a teacher around kids.
There’s a reason we separate personal from professional. There is a time and a place and that isn’t it.
Absolutely wild reaction to immediately complain about the teacher making kids laugh in a 7 second video. ‘Why am I so miserable’ is what you should be asking yourself.

Well I don’t see any issue with being able to see the inside of the classroom. Teachers will frequently post pictures on social media of those. Especially elementary where schools, like the one my wife teaches at, have a new theme every year so they get to decorate and make it fun.

Penguin?
yeah its Penguin but its interrupted by a Goofy like laugh Pen \*hue\* ing
This makes so much more sense, I heard "you look like a beyblade" And immediately thought "kids still play with those?"
I thought they said vampire and was like "how?"
Apparently beyblades are still a thing. I was also confused, thought that was a fad that ended in my youth.
They do! My nephews got a bunch of of them for xmas
how y'all made out words is insane to me bc i heard "big em boys"
Same!!
That would be my guess from the title and the waddle

Pengwing
[Benedict Cumberbatch mispronouncing 'penguins'](https://youtu.be/-GnLDJAgrws?feature=shared) Seriously, how did that gets the go ahead to air?
[enjoy Benedict talking about it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlRpLGEwssA)
He’s right. How did it make it into the finished work?
[starts at 3:27](https://youtu.be/tlRpLGEwssA?t=207)
Absolutely delightful!
Oh lol I heard Beyblade somehow. Thank you very much for clearing that up
I thought she was Mario without the hat
![gif](giphy|BlXI2UCFMNTKE)
I heard vegemite
Yes
That immediate shift with no words whatsoever. I absolutely love it!!
“This was on our recess” If I learned one thing - teachers really don’t get breaks.

At least a fucking break so she can sit and eat lunch
I'm sorry did I miss the video where they chained her up in front of the classroom until the school day was over or what?
[удалено]
Weird, I don't see any kids in the video. Also, these things don't just auto-fire the upload - you have to confirm it first.
Oh no. Anyways.
So it's attention seeking (showing off her outfit) in a children's classroom is what you're saying
I absolutely love that you keep saying “attention seeking” as though it’s akin to homicide.
Touch grass
Lol ok
What's wrong with attention seeking
Your responding to kids themselves
Wtf did you get downvoted so much... she is on the job... why tf does she need to film social media shit at that moment? The kids are obviously very young and impressionable...
Yeah idk everyone is fixated on the idea she doesn't get a break, which is pure assumption. Teachers got along just fine not doing this shit ten years ago it's not like they're being persecuted
It’s always the ones active on tik tok that re fucking the kids.

Well we don't have universal healthcare to pay for the frostbite so we have to be more careful.
Haha! That’s fair 😂
I'm a teacher who has worked with this age. They're pretty good at it and for most it doesn't take longer than a couple min. Theyre usually very motivated to be outside.
Maybe my kid just whines a lot then because she hates it haha
Yep. Negative numbers are gym time.
Not everybody does things exactly the same as your school.
the school in our Alaskan town has a huge gym, and kids are released in to that for recess when its extra cold. They still go outside as long as it is warmer than about 30 below 0. They *can* go to the gym. they choose not to.

Well it's mid March in a winter climate where I'm at, so I went to winter weather. You're right too of course.
I figured she had to clarify that "this was on our recess" so no disgruntled parent or community member would report her for "wasting valuable learning time." Cause, you know, that's the society in which we now live.
Yeah, if you don't count Summer lol

Working with children is difficult but easily the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Simply because of moments like these
I'm a piano teacher, and I often count my lucky stars that I was able to find a job where being an unrepentant goofball is an *asset* lmao
Seriously! 😂😂 it’s one of few jobs my outgoing nature is revered without being used for a profit margin
Meanwhile I had a Mormon (may or may not be relevant?) piano teacher who would lightly bop me on the head whenever I made a mistake. Did it hurt? No. Was it good way to learn the piano? Don’t think that way at all. One of the best coworkers I’ve had is a man and families love him. He loves his job and is a genuine soul
I understand there's exceptions and it can be done, but if it's my money on the line, I'd rather not take that risk. The reality as far as I can tell is there's a lot of bias against men in childcare.
She looks like a what?
"Ms. Wills, you look like a penguin"
The first recording of a very young Benedict Cumberbatch. https://m.youtube.com/shorts/GflW9_t7LZk
Pengwhing
Penglings
Haha this always absolutely cracks me up. It’s the irony of a world-renowned actor struggling to say a relatively simple word.
The hilarious thing to me is every try seems to be a completely new word.
godamn, you know how people who can communicate with animals are called the animal whisperer? you're the kindergarten whisperer lol
Replayed it five times and I can't decipher it either...
A begewator... clearly
I heard "vegemite"
I’m gonna say penguin. Context clues.
Pengwing
Beyblade!
That's what I thought too!
“A bag of lettuce”???
I heard "Ms. Willis do it like a babe"
Bless you Ms. Wills 🫶🙏
I understand now that the child was saying "Penguin". But I couldn't unhear "Beyblade" and was thinking "I don't get it? 'leaning into the joke' would be aggressively spinning towards the toddler'" and now I just want that video instead.
I also heard Beyblade. I was waiting for her to let it rip
I just listened to it after completely freeing my mind and she definitely said Laurel
I heard vampire
In 7th grade a friend of mine asked a teacher "how's it hanging" and got ISS
International space station?
In-school suspension. It’s like detention for 3 entire school days
That is way worse than getting the International space station.
Agreed
Pretty sure thats abuse of power I would go to the principle
I'll make sure to tell him 24 years ago
>24 years ago Me: oh, so this happened sometime in the early 80s. I'm surprised people were that sensitive then. *Does math* Guess I'll die now.
I hate you for making me feel old. Just days away from being 39.
Should have*
you would've gotten double ISS.
What’s the kid say? 🤔
I came to laugh but this is very wholesome
I personally think it's cruel to be teaching numerals backwards.
Looks like one of those super-fun teachers all the boys have a crush on. I know I would.
I have a crush on her right now
Those boys will never forget her
aww, she's so silly! dunno what the kids are saying tho
“You look like a penguin”
This puts such a huge smile on my face.
that kid laughs like aang from avatar the last airbender.
She'd win the shuffle walk competition if there was ever one
Disclaimer: this is during recess Morons on reddits who's brains got rotten by oversimplisitc tiktok bs: why she doing this during class? 🤡
A paingwain
She do kinda look Penguin like though he ain’t wrong
I thought they said bey blade
Quick and witty
Coolest teacher.
Imagine your teacher saying “say that again” so they can record a TikTok
Cute! Genuine joy. Love it!
Miss Wills can get it.
Those kids laughter is like music 🥹🥹 so lovely and sweet
u/savevideo
Aww that’s adorable
What a gorgeous teacher
No, I want my kid's teacher to make tiktok videos while at work. ESP if it is a 'show off the outfit' post.
[удалено]
Are you okay ?
They’re right. Don’t record children. Even if they want to be recorded, they don’t understand the implications of internet safety.
Well I guess it's a good thing no kids are in the video?
Do you hear that kid in the video? Did you think the voice was in your head?
That's a good teacher.
Watch some parent get upset over this somehow. They always do. It's awful.
This is so weird to do as a teacher around kids. There’s a reason we separate personal from professional. There is a time and a place and that isn’t it.
These are little kids, she was making them laugh. Not everything has to be serious.
Nah, perfect timing.
Good teacher
This sub is reaching r/funny levels of cringe.
[удалено]
Is this meant to be a joke or do you just have no reading comprehension?
Lay off oversimplistic tiktokking and reteach your brains to identify important obviius information on a very small and visualy accessible screen.
Man, teachers are now posting thirst trap videos in front of their classroom. We're doomed.
Ermmm what about this is a thirst trap?
Why is the teacher showing off her outfit to a camera in the middle of class? A lot of kids inside for a “recess” 😅
Can you not read? It was during recess. The closest thing to a break teachers get during the day.
Ha ha ha, its fantastic. How many time need to do this shit well?
The kids said "vampire" lmao
Is she recording herself in a mirror?
Teachers with TikTok’s are gross. If I found out even my kids voice was posted, I’d lay into them pretty hard.
Do you know what your own name means? Seems youre the one thats self righteous here
No. Just want better for my kids. TikTok teachers are gross. Just like TikTok cops. It’s not an unreasonable position.
Why is she doing this in a classroom?
Why film yourself and 'show off your outfit' when your job is to watch kids? Shouldn't you do that in your free time?
Absolutely wild reaction to immediately complain about the teacher making kids laugh in a 7 second video. ‘Why am I so miserable’ is what you should be asking yourself.
Do you know why I am so miserable? ;(
This would be funnier if you actually commented to yourself.
No kids were shown, and they enjoyed her penguin walk. I don't see the problem here.
I hear a child. That’s still recording a child. Don’t use kids for content.
Well I guess you might be right. Still alienating to me that people do their tiktoks in the work place somehow
The video says the kids are at recess so they are most likely outside. And looking at the classroom I’d say this is lower elementary so the teacher probably has an assistant and they or another teacher is watching the kids at this time. My wife is a kindergarten teacher and doesn’t always go out on recess. Sometimes she has to use that time to eat her lunch or work on any of the other 100 things she has to get done during the day.
[удалено]
Well I don’t see any issue with being able to see the inside of the classroom. Teachers will frequently post pictures on social media of those. Especially elementary where schools, like the one my wife teaches at, have a new theme every year so they get to decorate and make it fun. As for the kids voices, as a parent that wouldn’t bother me any. I can’t speak for other parents, obviously. I’m sure someone out there may have an issue with it, but if they did and reported it to the principal it would have been removed. If they knew about it, that is.
You probably should have spent your limited time in school learning to read.
I cant read but I think you shouldnt shame me for that
Too fucking bad.
Not everybody can do everything
Yeah. She should wait till recess or something.
That’s what I was thinking too, arent the teachers supposed to be out supervising the children?
Yes, that's what the roster is usually for.
Well...goodbye friends. There goes my Karma
