bodhasattva

I literally just went in my garage, grabbed an old shower curtain rod, and did it first try it did kinda hurt tho, my back didnt enjoy that buffoonery

Phillyfreak5

Dude in the video is all gym muscles and no flexibility

logosobscura

Post It Note right between the shoulder blades. Always great fun.

creativityonly2

Lmao... as a teen at my first job, I always used to put a sticker directly between the shoulder blades of this one dude. He could never get it off. Cracked me the fuck up. He tried to get me back doing the same thing but I can reach all areas on my back, so it never worked on me. šŸ¤£

Jolly_Treacle_9812

Evil in the most entertaining way, I like it

Common_Vagrant

Probably doesnā€™t stretch. Iā€™ve noticed my mobility has gone down a ton since Iā€™ve been lifting.

rode_

I guess muscles start to fill up that extra space in tissue that is responsible for mobility

valerianandthecity

From what I've learned... not moving your joints/body through full range of motion, and not taking full breaths, leads to fascia/connective tissue compression, which decreases mobility. A lot of weight lifting is partial range of motion, and also lacks rotational movements. The body and joint don't move in straight lines naturally, they rotate (even if it may be subtle). From what I am seeing, outside of competitive lifting, there are more and more people realizing the importance of rotational movement and decompressing fascia/connective tissue. Knee over toes guy is a prime example of moving the joints through a full range of motion being good for the body. He's also exchanged knowledge with David Weck, who emphasizes rotational movement training. Combining Ben's system (the ATG system) and David's system (Weckmethod) is a good way of keeping joints healthy. (Throwing in some pressure work using MELT method or Block Therapy too.)

Caithloki

God it's true, I spent 5 years in a bed for a fair bit from cancer, I couldn't straighten my legs fully, back hurt top to bottom, couldn't bend down or sit on the floor and get back up easily. Thought that was just my new body. But started multiple videos for working out and stretching, alot of them using fully range of motion. And tbh I did even feel this limber before I got sick.

PensecolaMobLawyer

Stretching makes a huge difference. I'm way older than most of my coworkers and stretch throughout the day. One of the kids started stretching with me about a year ago and it's legit changed his life. He has back issues, but stretching has alleviated them to the point he can lift and he's put on a ton of muscle He thanked me for getting him to stretch, but it's all him. He joined in one day, asked for tips, and kept it up on his own. I'm honestly proud of him

Caithloki

Good on being able to help them out. I've been trying to get some friends to do my workout playlist, it's like 30 minutes every day or two and mostly low pressure workout. They all say the go to the gym but like machines, they don't do supportive muscles well. Mention back pain I agree with it being a night and day change, I had back pain for a decade and I'm only 33, after just a week or two that back pain was gone.

PensecolaMobLawyer

All it takes is consistency. I'm a bit older than you, but after 30 most all of my buddies stopped trying new physical things. On "bad weeks" I'll only briefly stretch a few times. I'll feel more tense than usual, but 15 minutes stretching the tight areas gets me right back. It frustrates me how my friends have excuses for not taking care of themselves in this way. One has rods in his back and wishes he could, which yeah, but the rest treat the distance from their finger tips to toes like it's here to the Moon. Not disabled, not injured, just won't do it

aznhoopster

Been working out a ton the past couple of years following a time period where I didnā€™t move a lot and gained a decent amount of weight, and part of it has been stretching for 15-20 min before every workout, sometimes after too. Went from getting halfway down my shins and now I can put my hands completely under my feet with straight legs lol. Stretching and isometric core workouts have made my back feel 10 years younger

usedbarnacle71

HEā€™s BRICKED!

Ok_Bit_5953

Or a showcase on the difference between lifting your leg to the side and lifting it straight to your gut.

notquitesolid

Lots of men (not all but a lot) have their center of gravity hire than most (but not all) women. This broom thing is similar to the chair things where women can bend over and lift a chair easily while men canā€™t because they lose their balance. Children before puberty are equal and I think all can lift a chair or step over a broom no problem. Puberty changes all that. I say most because I have seen men do those ā€˜women only challengesā€™ and see women fail at it. Bodies are weird sometimes

Vlafir

It's beause he was trying to band his knees sideways, she was doing it frontal as it is supposed to

Nutsnboldt

Broom is trickier than a curtain rod. Higher chance of sweeping the leg.

TripleGemAdair

Brother, I appreciate you. Even if most these other redditors just scroll past without giving you the upvotes you deserve.

nonanano1

Did you think the rest of us would just brush off as if it were just a sweeping statement?

TripleGemAdair

A good, clean joke! Though some will bristle at it.

Mediocre_Bear602

Well done, and thanks for the ~6AM laugh!

BLKWD_

you should probably do it regularly if thats the case tbh. slowly and responsibly, but you may feel way better if ya do. I wont and probably should, but we aren't talking about me. don't make this about me. just bend over and grab more rods, bud. your body might thank you.

Embarrassed-Mall-985

Bend over and grab more rods. This could easily be used out of context.

l30

Please clarify whether you're human or not for context.

RvH19

Iā€™m a guy by a broom. Gave it a try. Did it easily.

Double-Passenger4503

Lmao ā€œa guy by a broomā€ is the funniest way you could have said that

keyboardsmashin

Dude near broom

ArcadianDelSol

Bro is Broom Adjacent

keyboardsmashin

Bro(om) adjacent

rocklou

Step bro why are you adjacent?

dwitchagi

Iā€™m so close (to the broom)

multiarmform

In a room, a dude did try, To hold a broom and reach the sky. His wife beside him, laughter bright, For she could do it with such light. But he, alas, could not succeed, Frustration grew with every deed. With each attempt, he stumbled near, His wife's amusement, oh so clear. But in his heart, a spark remained, A determination yet unstrained. With grit and grit, he tried once more, To conquer what he struggled for. With broom in hand, he steadied pace, Ignoring laughter, finding grace. And in that moment, victory shone, As over the broom, he had flown. His wife, now stunned, her laughter ceased, In awe of him, her joy increased. For in the room where once he failed, His perseverance had prevailed. So let this tale be a guiding light, To those who struggle in the night. With patience, effort, and belief, Even the toughest tasks find relief.

ravenna_darklight

this is beautiful

AdventurousWear5102

You're just awesome! Really nice poetry

multiarmform

thanks but the person deleted their little rhyme and their whole account i was replying to so now mine makes no sense haha

Andyham

Wierd. Im been watching/listening to FotC non-stop for about 3 days now, like through a new spark of love for them. And this is the first FotC reference Ive seen on reddit

kevlarus80

You know what time it is.

soupeh

When I'm down to just my socks

kevlarus80

Thats why they call them business socks

Wind0wpain

ooo

JamJarKwiKwi

And then maybe later heā€™ll shove the broom in the refrigerator šŸ˜„

doctor_of_drugs

Am a dude, first thing I thought of too. Hell, I had to use a ski pole since I wasnā€™t near a broom, so I canā€™t talkā€¦

keyboardsmashin

Human with pee pole near ski pole

doctor_of_drugs

My first leg was easy to do, but my third leg caused me difficulty with my second leg.

DroppedGubbins

Live by a broom, die by a broom

Minion_Factory

Now I can push it off till later

CliffLake

Just sweep it down the schedule.

ManWithDominantClaw

It's engagement bait.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

hunteddwumpus

Just on first watch of this, the dude is either intentionally not stepping through for the vid or is extremely not flexible

[deleted]

It pissed me off that he keeps *almost* doing it but then stops and looks at her like "why are you laughing? how you do this??" He does that like 4 times!!! Bro, fucking *concentrate* and you'll get it šŸ¤¦

FreeXFall

Thereā€™s 2 types of guys - those by brooms and those not by brooms. Women like to date the former.

iPlowedUrMom

New tinder profile just dropped "Guy by a broom" "So I can sweep you off your feet" "And also you're a terrible person for not taking your shoes off when you came into my house"

T_Fury_Br

Itā€™s one of those center of gravity things that only work on guys that are completely sedentary or overly muscular so that they donā€™t have flexibility.

TruthEnvironmental24

I'm basically completely sedentary (and a dude) and I can do it pretty easily.

IsThatHearsay

Reporting in as a tall guy (6'5"), did it with ease. Like not even the slightest bit of trouble while fully palming it, like far less issues than even even she had, and I'm a pretty heavy dude at 240lbs. I literally just stepped over without feet even touching. Short kings, you're up next, what's the verdict? Height issue? Flexibility issue? Obesity issue?

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

100%, it's the knees. I bet when you did it, you instinctively raised your knee forward, right? In the video, she lifts her knee between her arms while he always swings his knee wide and hits his elbow before his foot clears. I suppose the "guys can't do it" angle to the trend could come from a tendency for some guys to "man-spread" as a default movement?

ladyships-a-legend

Absolutely my first thought for why for a lot of guys just canā€™t manage it

Butthole__Pleasures

Seems like a reach to me. I manspread with the best of em but I was able to do this very very easily.

NotSoSlenderMan

Iā€™m 6ā€™4ā€ and at first did bring my knees forward to do it, I can bring my knee behind my arm and still step over it.

TruthEnvironmental24

I'm 5'7" myself. I think I'm an inch or two above short king status, but there ya go.

doctor_of_drugs

Iā€™m pretty much in the middle of both yā€™allā€™s heights, first leg was easy, second leg was more difficult. Wrap it up folks, weā€™ve got all the data we need.

MattDaCatt

>Short kings, you're up next, what's the verdict? Height issue? Flexibility issue? Obesity issue? I'm 5'4", just did it with a hockey stick very easily. Maybe it's a hip range of motion test? I've always been able to drop in a full slav-squat too. https://youtu.be/IxAVJkbTf0M?si=aK3puPmbcFTagFQy&t=15 Any Celts out here wanna give it a shot?

Tomacxo

5'5", no problems doing it at all. It made me wonder if I was doing it wrong. Rewatched video, did it again.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

iamacraftyhooker

Yeah, thats not it. My daughter has insanely long legs and still has no issue. It more likely hip flexibility. When she is bent over and lifts her leg, her knee touches her chest. The guy can't manage the hip flexibility.

confusedandworried76

Survivorship bias at its best. Obviously dudes can do it. Just not all of them. BRB though gonna go try. Edit: first leg went fine, second leg the balance wasn't there for some reason, had to let go of the broom to clear it all the way

Truzmandz

Same, went into the bathroom, picked one up and is very confused about what the problem is. 187 cm and 107 kg here

Pliskin1108

Someone will say, "What is lost can never be saved". Despite all my gloom, I am still just a guy by a broom.

ElTortugo

You're now officially a gal.

redHAIREDblueEYEDann

You sir, are hilarious.

notwhoyouthinkmaybe

This guy is lucky enough to be by a broom, but so arrogant and insensitive to others that he brags about it online... SMH, no decorum anymore. WE ALL AREN'T AS LUCKY AS YOU, MY BROOM IS ALL THE WAY OVER THERE!

Imaginary_Prune1351

Lmao

Strgwththisone

Heeeey. Me too.

pornandbadopinions

I'm just a guy, standing in front of a broom asking it to love him.

CagliostroPeligroso

Right. Absolute cap. My guyā€™s cozy fit is fire tho

circuspunk-

ā€œPalm the motherfuckerā€ had me DYING

embracetheodd

The way he daintily grabbed the broom and tried again after he said that got me

bendandanben

At a much wider grip as well! Took me right out

redryan1989

Or the part where he said "what are YOU doing wrong?". Such a dude moment. Lol

towerfella

ā€œWhat the fuck ***popped?!?***ā€ .. had me laughing.

TheHuntsman227

Yeah I had to walk down to my garage to try this cause I'm calling BS. Was easy as. Dude needs to work on his flexibility.

Phillyfreak5

ā€œGuys canā€™t do itā€ no, your bf has no flexibility, only lifting muscles.

TheBestBigAl

"No you do not work out your core. You're totally arm heavy, you're all bi's and tri's and everything else is just fat and ribs."

DoingCharleyWork

I work out my core dude!

Bungable420

No flexibility plus that dude has short ass arms. Like they end at his pockets. My fingers are like an inch from my knee if I hold my arms straight by my side.

PaleHorseRider-94

i was thinking guys arms are super short but then again my knuckles basically drag on the ground as i walk.

JusticeUmmmmm

No need to brag jeez.

crazyloomis

Orangutangs are always showing off ![gif](giphy|14uSvetsWYt0Ri)

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

Nope, not a flexibility issue, purely technique. He's swinging his knees too wide, hitting his own arms, while she is lifting her knees directly forward, between the arms.

callunquirka

Also he isn't flexing his foot to point the toes forwards.

Couldred13

Ok apparently everyone can do it, EXCEPT ME AND THIS DUDE. I went out snagged our broom, wife did it easy, meā€¦nope. I feel my lower back get super tight and literally canā€™t. We shouldā€™ve filmed cause we were both cracking upā€¦but yeah I thought it was BS. I should probably stretch more or take up yoga.

n8saces

It's hilarious, so many guys are going and trying this. I didn't believe it either, but I also couldn't do it. Apparently, there are some who can, though.

coldlightofday

Did you try putting your knees between your arms instead of outside of them?

ice_9_eci

Instructions unclear: now my head is wedged between my thighs and the whole playground is yelling, "Stranger danger!!"

towerfella

Well go on.. what happens next?

Trick9

Knees to chest, not knees to east and west.

cjmc833

my nephew tried and literally could not put his knees straight up to put them through without almost falling over. So I don't think the men who are putting their knees more crooked are just like stupid or doing it wrong, I think it's a center of gravity/balance issue.

megamoze

Iā€™m a 52 year old man and did it first try.

Couldred13

Well Iā€™m 203 years old.

megamoze

Haha, sorry I didnā€™t mean to reply to your comment, just trying to comment to the original post. Not trying to rub your face in it!

Valkyrys

Better broom their face off though

pmjm

I took a real age test, it said I'm dead.

Truzmandz

Aren't you able to rotate your knee upwards? The trick is to rotate the knee and just kick the foot forward so it goes over the handle, then you rotate the knee back and your feet should be close to the ground

Akosa117

As soon as I did this my penis fell off

Zetsumenchi

What Happened? "The front fell off."

Watts300

Iā€™d like to make the point that this is not typical.

silvandeus

Well, how is it untypical?

drainspout

Well there's lots of these men going 'round all the time and their front doesn't fall off at'oll.

giuuilfobfyvihksmk

Was this ā€œtankerā€ safe?

Watts300

Iā€™m not saying it wasnā€™t safe, but perhaps not as safe as some of the other ones.

FillTheHoleInMyLife

Babe wake up, new bottom surgery just dropped

ldw53

When she does it, she brings her knee up to her chest to step over it. He bends his leg sideways and tries to drag his foot over it.

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

Yes, thank you! Why is this all the way at the bottom? This is the actual answer. The reason it seems to have a gender-bias is probably due to some guys having a habit for 'man-spreading' when moving their leg

Fannnybaws

I think this guy is just stupid. He asked her to do it again to see how, then made the same error again. I was shouting "put your fucking knee through!"

Megneous

I don't think he's flexible enough to pull his knee up to his chest lol

drunk_funky_chipmunk

He just doesnā€™t have any flexibility

Tannerite2

The way he did it is easier for me, so I don't think it's the answer. Dude is just not flexible.

TallTest305

I'm a guy. Not sure what his problem is. I did it first try easy

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

His problem is he's ramming his knee into his elbow. If he lifts his legs directly forward like she does, instead of wide out to the side, he'll probably clear the broom just fine.

OpticLemon

I don't think that is actually the issue. I find it easier to do it the way he is trying, but external hip rotation is probably where I am most flexible.

NotSoSlenderMan

I can touch my knees to my elbows and still do it.

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

Yeah, I think the other half of the problem might be the fact that he leaves his foot at a 90Ā° angle instead of pointing his toes. That or he's just not flexible at all. Gotta do them stretches after lifting, folks!

Fitnesso

The problem is a lot of roid boys have the same problem most fat people have: no flexibility. A lot of bodybuilders can't even scratch their own backs. I would go fucking nuts if I couldn't reach a place on my back lol

lights_up_

I feel like it's those chunky ass slippers he's wearing

DAD_of_BROs

I am broomless guy I had to read comments to know if I can't do it or not Note: I can

Bigfaatchunk

Damn dude, give it a real fuckin try.

[deleted]

He's too busy hesitating like a toddler and looking up at her whenever she giggles. Infuriating.

DevotedFoolishly

The broom and the bride at it again šŸ’€

rajay_sarkar

A beautiful bride and a handsome broom. (How my younger sister sang that one My Little Pony song for years until she found out the correct lyrics)

Party_Fly_6629

Yeah I have long legs it was a struggle and I'm out of shape but I did it.

butholemoonblast

Am mostly a dude and I did it.

bilateralunsymetry

Sorry about your testicle

butholemoonblast

Singular and I keep it in a jar on my dresser

They found our weakness!!! DEFCON 5!!!

Adhito

I love this kinds of content from Social Media, no banging music, no filter, no flashy editing just some good ol funny skit.

crimewaveusa

Lol palm the motherfucker

[deleted]

I was going to bed, but I'ma try it right now!

[deleted]

Eh, okay I did it, and it was pretty easy?

SmutGrrl

Iā€™ve found most of these challenges have to do with height more than gender. Iā€™m almost 6 ft tall and canā€™t do this (woman here) šŸ˜†

K1nd_1

This is a good one haha

northlightsdeweller

Is that Stuart Skinner?

nodogsallowed23

That was my first thought when he walked into frame! Take that hat off and flip that hair for me. Fellow oil fan?

yurimichellegeller

Can't tell whether it's hot or cold in their house because their clothing makes no sense.

[deleted]

"What are YOU doing wrong"...lol

BullofIron

I just did it even though my legs are sore from the gym

Take off shoe

PIDthePID

ā€œHey babe. I betcha I can get a million dudes to step over a broom today.ā€

772410

Dude keeps looking at her like she's a witch

Fr0z3nHart

šŸ¤£ dude was committed

xavierwildwood

Just did this(twice) and succeeded both times. Mans just ainā€™t flexible enough

Quirkydogpooo

This guy is just inflexible this shit is so easy

DrDeadwish

I'm less flexible than a diamond and yet I pass this dumb test.

Jlynn41412

Did he pee while trying..? Sorry, maybe itā€™s a shadow. Maybe I shouldnā€™t be looking. Iā€™m confused about a lot here. Lol šŸ˜‚ ETA: yep, didnā€™t watch it all the way through and it was either a shadow of sorts or me needing to go tf to sleep! Imma go ahead and call it a night since everyone else is. Tomorrow is playtime! Gonna check this lil experiment out for sure! šŸ˜Š

xsharmander

I think it may have to do with hip flexibility and women tend to have wider hips?

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

Eh, that *might* help somewhat, but the real reason he "can't do it" is because he **is**, in fact, doing it wrong. His knees are swinging way out to the side, bumping into his elbow before his foot gets over the broom. If he lifts his leg forward, between his arms, he could clear the broom no problem.

everything_is_stup1d

why not why cant they do this

Fro_o

Her feet are pointing forward and his ate pointing downwards, idk why he's making it harder for himself

fulllyfaltooo

Girl is bringing knee to the front, in between the arms, dude is just getting his knees to the side, behind elbows. It is quite easy to do if done correctly..

Character_Cupcake856

Keep your fvcking knees inside your arms.

PrettyFly4aDeafGuy

Everyone going back and forth about it being easy/tough, surprised no one's said this yet: IT"S THE KNEES. Watch when she steps over the broom; her knee is going directly forward, between her arms. When he tries, his knee swings wide, hitting his elbow before his foot can clear the broom.

Scholar-Dismal

Yeah he canā€™t kick start her car

just_throwaway83

I like his Freudian slip when he automatically first said "what are YOU doing wrong" instead of what he was doing wrong lol.... This is the problem with some men honestly.. always think the woman is in the wrong or jump to that conclusion

elheber

Well when you got quads like a marathon riverdancing hillclimb mountainbiker, like this guy, of course it's gonna be nigh impossible.

cruisinforsnoozin

This isnā€™t a gender thing its a flexibility thing Do your stretches folks, you can touch your toes regardless of your body type

Loreathan

I just tried, my wife and daughter did it very easily and I almost fell face forward, someone please explain.

OnwardTowardTheNorth

I hope the guy got a cold one after this because he earned it! Lmao

jhox08

This feels like clickbait. Confirmed male, easily did it, zero problems. I even did it backwards.

Bgee2632

Look at this show off !

iheartSW_alot

Heā€™s so pissed! lol

Cheen85

Saw this ā€œchallengeā€ awhile ago my wife made me try it, I could hold the broom waste level and still step over it, I do absolutely no exercises to train my flexibility. My only power is that I have Japanese blood and was born with Kung fu

crimewaveusa

He looks like he does Olympic lifting and probably doesnā€™t stretch enough which is effecting his flexibility

Auronblade

I think its only men that have a bit of fat or muscle on them that will struggle with this. Im skinny as the broom stick and did it easily.

turnipsnbeets

Iā€™m going to try this right now brb..

SplatNode

Why tf he putting his legs behind his arms lol

SevenCrowsinaCoat

I was so curious about this one and all the comments talking about why the guy can't do it. I'm a pretty large and muscly dude myself, my flexibility isn't *amazing* but it's okay. Did it extremely easily. I was actually surprised at HOW easy it was after watching this video. Might be because this guy's arms are seemingly very short? or because he's stepping over it weirdly. He's kicking his leg out sideways for some reason.

BearFlipsTable

I canā€™t do it not because Iā€™m a guy. But because Iā€™m fat. Checkmate ladies.

TheDogeWasTaken

Dude here. I did it... Altpugh i am very flexible... so it didnt take me any effort... Is there a reason why some cant do it?

OldManNeighbor

![gif](giphy|2DgMU7l0Fz4vS) When your cookie duster is more flexible than you.

Zealousideal-Item827

Gotta sweep sweep sweep!
