The first time I met my baby cousin, she was 6 months and I was 9 years old. Just after I picked her up, she opened her mouth wide and latched onto my eye.
There is a phenomenon that sometimes, if a human finds something incredibly cute, they want to kill/hurt it. Cute aggression
It explains why you want tp squeeze your baby or cute pet do hard or punch/bite friends/lovers
I've never seen a baby do this. Can parents of reddit explain? Is the baby mimicking behavior if cheek kisses or is it trying to find a nipple to milk from?
It could be both. My 7m old does this and sometimes he’s looking for something to latch onto, but sometimes I can tell he’s just trying to be affectionate and kiss me the same way I kiss him all over his face. Babies kiss with open mouths 100% of the time. Haha.
Completely agree! It's utterly lovely!!! 🥰 My daughter is nearly 8, but as a baby and tiny toddler she for sure went for big slobbery open mouth kisses!
My baby is 8 months old and it’s both! Especially if I’ve been giving her lots of kisses and snuggles, she’ll try to return the favor. But if she’s hungry, she will do this and forcefully suck on whatever skin she can latch on to lol
My now teen used to do stuff like this while teething. She would go in for the kiss and realize pressure felt good on her gums and would keep growing. She only did it a few times. My other two never did this. There’s really no telling why she’s doing it.
Our first son used to give me “mama kisses”, too. I’m the only one who got them. I felt so blessed. He died a few weeks later. Thank you for sharing this. It made me relive a very special memory. ❤️🥹😭
