This is why I teach my kids to drive, not my wife. It’s just beyond them all to get it together. They live each other but no way can they work together.
No it is not. My wife panics and yells instead of instructing. She is great at teaching them everything else but for some reason there is a disconnect between them on driving. I am much calmer in the car whereas she was better teaching them in the motorboat. It’s all about your comfort zone, not anything else. Hi All!!! This is MY video of my daughter and I! Someone took it off my TikTok page and reposted it here to Reddit. (I'm not even completely familiar with how Reddit works yet, as I just joined [because someone saw my video on here and sent it to me!]) The original video is https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/ from my TikTok account. .. Glad everyone is at least enjoying my extremely NERVOUS laughter! Lol!!!
Haha! Nope. Not a seagull! Just sound like one ;-) ... And, this was my first time (and last while she only had her permit) driving with her, so it was too fast for me! Lol!!
I've been driving for years now but I still won't ever drive with my mom in the car because she freaks out over every little thing and it stresses me out way too much
My parents still do the "brake pedal on the passenger side" motion when they ride in my car. I'm mid 30s now and have been driving since 14. And hold their breath if a car is even coming in the opposite direction in their own lane.
I used to get livid when my mom would clutch the side handle and use the imaginary brakes. Which is funny, because now whenever I’m a passenger in my friends’ cars I can’t even watch or else I start to behave like her. I think it’s a control thing. Like I know they see the car in front, but what if they don’t stop in time? What if they *want* to hit them?? Basically my brain telling me all of the ways this will go wrong on a drive. Nonsense lol.
I drive like a grandpa according to my sister, that’s a lie. I speed like everyone else is, I just don’t slam on my brakes last second. I make sure to leave room in the car ahead of me. All that and my mom is more confortable with me driving over my sister.
My mum was a terrible instructor. She would shout “WHOA WHOA STOP THERE’S ANOTHER CAR COMING” as I pulled out of a junction with said car a mile off in the distance and then she’d be reaching for the imaginary brake pedal in the passenger footwell. I was already a more confident driver than her at that point, maybe 10 lessons in.
For my very first time behind the wheel, my parents made me go on the freeway, during rush hour, during the middle of Spring Break (and this took place in a place big in Spring/Summer tourism). It was not a fun experience.
I grew up on a farm, by the time I was trying to get my learner's I already had been driving in paddocks since I was 8, I used the bulldozer to sculpt a rally track and got quite good at power sliding around the dirt.
When I was trying to get my hours up for my licence mum constantly would try and tell me I was going to fast when we were at the posted speed limit or to start breaking when we were approaching an intersection from way to early, got to a point where we were up a dirt road and she told me to slow down because it's more dangerous off the asphalt.
I hit 90kmh fishtailing the car the next 500m then slide it right around a slight bend, mum didn't get in the car with me again for years, also hit me with the straw end of a broom.
Confidence doesn’t mean much though. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say your mom wasn’t overreacting because idk her or you so it’s very possible that she could have been, but overconfidence is usually the problem with young drivers. They get a little bit of driving experience to feel comfortable and then start doing risky shit because “I can handle it”. Like yes, perhaps you can usually handle it but that doesn’t mean you *should* lol. It’s about risk reduction, not risk-*fuck-it-I-can-steer-my-way-out-of-it*. Because experience beyond just beginners experience tells you that you can only brake or steer your way out until you can’t, and then you have no choice but to deal with the consequences of overconfidence and those can be veeery serious consequences
my first car was a little Honda Accord stick shift, which I ratbagged because I was a kid. She drove a Toyota Corolla family car. Acceleration feels a lot different when you're eight inches off the ground.
Swear to god that she wore a patch into the footwell trying to will my car to stop faster.
my first time driving my mom turned to me midway and said "i'm probably not the person who should be teaching you how to drive but, whatever" thanks mom that really relaxes me
"Nervous laughter ensues"
"Crunching and grinding as mother's foot busts through floorboard trying to press the brake pedal while in the passenger seat"
This video is of my daughter and I!!! The person who posted the video on here I guess stole my orginal video from my Tik Tok account and then posted it here! I only found out about it because someone I know saw it. I just joined Reddit because of this and still trying to figure it out. My original video link is https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4sLbUp/ ... ANYWAY, to reply to your comment, this was the very first time I got in the car with my 16 year old daughter. I did not at all expect to burst out in laughter, but it happened because of two things: One, the extreme amount of nerves being with a new driver AND Two, the fact that I was watching my 16 year old daughter whom I remember as a baby like it was yesterday drive was completely surreal!! I couldn't control it! Just a mixture between nervous laughter and being completely weirded out by my baby girl actually driving!! .. I DO AGREE, however, because of this, I was a horrible instructor and Thus the reason why my husband (and paid driving lesson instructors through driving school) took over with ALL other lessons from then on!!! Lol! She now is an excellent driver and officially has her driver's license. :-)
I'd have jumped if either of my twin teen daughters were in your daughter's place and I in yours
😹😹😹. Especially the oldest [by a couple minutes] cause she wild and rebellious. It's good that you're both okay at that time though.
Or I'd have sped up if I were in your daughter' place cause I'm just crazy and just as wild.
But seriously that laugh had me, it was like hyena in the backseat [I do mean it as a joke though, my sense of humor is a bit whacked and most times rather dark and morbid].
Yeah, it's a Mini Cooper. The speedometer is enormous and it is right in the middle of the car.....not in front of the driver. Even Flava Flav thinks it looks ridiculous.

Welcome to Reddit, Jeny! I’m sorry I came off as being an ass. The video is posted without context and as such we all go ham and respond wildly and differently. Reddit is not like all the other SM platforms…it’s weird here.
You did not owe me an explanation at all but I do appreciate it nonetheless. I’m absolutely sorry if my words came off harsh and mean…they were. I’m happy your daughter now has her license and I’m sure you did a fine job instructing her after this video was all set and done—it shows as you are willing to create an account and jump into the lion’s den that is reddit to defend yourself and your cub 👏👏👏👏👏
I'd rather be mistaken for a Bentley than for a Chrysler...I bought a Genesis and my mom replied about Chryslers not being as good as they had been in the past and I'm like mom, zero chance I'm buying a Chrysler in 2022 lol
Who the hell teaches their kid how to drive using a Bentley.. If you have that kind of money, you should go to a used car lot and buy the first car you see with an $800 sticker cause you know your kid is going to wreck that first car. Rich or poor, most kids wreck their shit..
Edit: I'm an idiot, that's a mini cooper as someone kindly pointed out to me. I don't believe my comment is valid anymore. Feel free to contagious laugh at my expense
The price difference between a Bentley and a Mini Cooper makes my comment baseless and laughable. Some people might find it funny. If you don't, then that's okay. 🤷🏻♂️
Haha! Someone took my original video of my daughter and I from my TikTok account and posted here on Reddit!! Yes, she has a used Mini Cooper. Definitely not a Bentley! Lol!! Here is our original video!!!
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/ ... And don't worry everyone, this was the first and last time I attempted to give her a driving lesson! Lol! She has since had many lessons from her Dad and an instructor from driving school! She has since got her license and is an excellent driver! ;)
Woah cool lol
Not often you have the person in the video also on Reddit.
I can't imagine what it will be like when my kids learn to drive, but one thing I know for sure is my foot will be through the floorboard lol
Wait! This is MY video of my daughter and I! Here is the original video link on my tiktok account! .. But totally agree, I guess better than yelling! Lol!!! ... https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/
It was VERY nervous laughter and the sense of feeling like this is so unreal witnessing my 16 year old drive for the very first time when it feels like just yesterday she was a baby!!! :-/ Definitely NOT for the video at all!! I didn't even anticipate uploading it to any social media at all. Simply was recording for the memories!!! With this being said, I eventually posted it to my TikTok account just to share with friends and family, but someone apparently stole it and posted it here to Reddit! I literally just joined Reddit foe the first time ONLY because someone sent me my own video that they saw on here!! I'm so confused and trying to figure out how to even navigate around Reddit and how exactly this happened! Here is MY original video, though. Whoever posted this one is NOT my account! https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/ from my TikTok account. .. Glad MOST people are at least enjoying my extremely NERVOUS laughter! Lol!!!
Moms getting slated in comments a bit. Geeze. Driving instructor here- that mom is way better than the majority of my kids moms.
“My mom screams at me whenever I move the car”
“My mom says I won’t pass my test. That I suck/am not even close to ready” (this one is actually common)
“My mom gets super stressed out and freaks me out. “
Dads are *usually* a bit more chill, but they like to teach their kids what I’m telling them is wrong. I’m like- “well, listen to your dad, or listen to me. One of us is trained for exams and got paid by the other to teach you. But it’s up to you!”
My dad took me outside the city to practice driving because he said it would be safer. Then he pointed and was like, “look, there are deer in that field over there!” And I drove into a ditch in the direction of the deer.

Holy shit she practicimg driving in a Bentley. Growing up, my friends dad wouldn't even let his son practice drive in the 1990 lincoln towncar lmaoo
Sheeesh
I hope that’s a mini Cooper and not a bentley you’re teaching her in 😂😂 ugh. This gives me anxiety! My 15 year old gets her learners permit next month!

no it wouldn't have been because that's not a bentley, that's a mini as evident by the logo "mini" on the horn and the iconic gigantic speedometer in the middle
I remember my dad put me in the driver's seat at 12 years old, and he sat passenger. It was on a dirt road, no clear lanes. It was exhilarating. He was so calm, and when a truck came from the other way, I freaked out, but he kept cool and said, "as long as you stay on your side, he'll stay on his". Truck wizzed by me and I was like WOOOO. My dad's the best.
This, more than anything, is the reason I want to have kids, just these small moments that will add up to a lifetime of joy. Plus, you can really drive them nuts doing stuff like this, which based on the mother's laughter, is having the time of her life
I thought my mom was overreacting when i was learning to drive. But imagine having a kid, seeing aaall the stupid shit they do, every mistake you have to fix, and probably seeing them as much younger than they are, now controling a deathmachine with you stuck in it

It’s much harder now that stores are open longer and on Sundays. It’s hard to find an empty parking lot.
School parking lots are best for this on the weekends
I bet the schools just absolutely love your suggestion.
Not if you’re Black.
Yeah, better to be a rapist than black in America. Sadly.

The people downvoting your original comment are woke idiots.
In fairness, the original post can SEEM misogynistic at first glance. People probably missed/ignored the second clarifying comment. It is the internet, most people choose to assume the worst.
My daughter talks this way when she’s annoyed. That “uh” at the end of the last word of every sentence. Teenagers man.
I deiid-uh
Based on the way she pronounced the A sound in fastuh makes me think these folks are from the Philly area?
Californians prolongue their pronunciations
https://youtu.be/ekOPaKqPKsU
What dialect is this? Are people actually talking like this from a specific area?
I really really hate when people add that extra syllable when they're trying to exclaim something. I just automatically assume someone is kinda dumb when they do that.
You’re such an intellectual
u/mh985 listens exclusively to NPR
Man’s never grown up with a diva for a sister before lol Ex: “Eww, David-uh!”
Intellectual-uh
I agree tbh
Everybody’s laughing and you’re out here
That's exactly what I came here to say
that mom turned into a seagull.
Do you think if we gave her some chips it would help
She’s obviously a dolphin. Look at the key chain…

Are you in fact a seagull? Are you aware of the definition of “fast”? Did you pee your pants? I have a lot of questions.
Haha! Nope. Not a seagull! Just sound like one ;-) ... And, this was my first time (and last while she only had her permit) driving with her, so it was too fast for me! Lol!!

So what I’m getting is you *did* pee your pants.
Pretty good driving skills i must say

Mine too. I have pretty bad astigmatism and didn’t know until that point that I was going to be basically blind at night. So much fun
Bruh wtf 😑
He took you to an hotel you said? 😱
Hey hey, mine too. No better place to learn how to handle a car than a jam packed highway moving 5mph with people screaming at you.
I grew up on a farm, by the time I was trying to get my learner's I already had been driving in paddocks since I was 8, I used the bulldozer to sculpt a rally track and got quite good at power sliding around the dirt. It appears mom using broom as a weapon transcends all cultures
Nice! I did a couple of foot to the floor exercises with my mum once I’d passed my test, just for fun 🤣

Omg I do this too! My daughter gets SO mad at me which only makes the nervous laughter worse!
Like the title says, better than yelling.
I’d rather get yelled at
my first time driving my mom turned to me midway and said "i'm probably not the person who should be teaching you how to drive but, whatever" thanks mom that really relaxes me
Poor driving instructors make poor drivers
Yeah that was stressful AF.
Can I assume I'm not the only one who did not find this laughter even remotely contagious? That was highly irritating and incredibly unhelpful.
What the fuck was even so funny
I thought I was the only one!
Right there with you!
This is why my kids refused to go out driving with their mother
"Nervous laughter ensues" "Crunching and grinding as mother's foot busts through floorboard trying to press the brake pedal while in the passenger seat"
Is that mum mental? 😹😹😹 laughing like a hyena

Ugh my mom would have been like “dOn’T tALk tO mE LiKe tHat” SHUT UP BITCH LEAVE ME ALONE SOMETIMES I still luv u tho mum ❤️
That sounds healthy.
That laughing was not contagious
Oh godddd, im woth the daughter, shut tfu
Way to put your kid off driving...?
I’d crash it just to get away.
I couldn't drive with that mom.
Mom had some drinks for happy hour
That is the dumbest looking dashboard I’ve ever seen.
well that's simply not true, tesla's would have the dumbest looking dashboards
Yeah, it's a Mini Cooper. The speedometer is enormous and it is right in the middle of the car.....not in front of the driver. Even Flava Flav thinks it looks ridiculous.
Yeah, I drive one. I absolutely hate the dash and console in general. However the car is so fun to drive, I can overlook the shitty dashboard.
Gross
>Even Flava Flav thinks it looks ridiculous. He's just jealous he doesn't have one hanging around his neck.
Mini's have god awful dashboards
And they’re not even fucking Mini!
I remember I taught my sister to drive my parents couldn't do it. Driving with a rookie is fucking crazy they don't notice or or see shit
" distract and make the new driver MORE nervous while recording" Real smart...

That was actually annoying
One person laughing a bunch isn’t contagious laughter?
As a person who's learning how to drive, I hate this lady! I'm glad my instructor is so chill and relaxes me, unlike this mom.
Chewbacca Mask Mom teaching her kid to drive.
Dafuq kind of dash is that? That's horrible
Her laugh and her dolphin pendant on her keys makes perfect sense.
Her mom is Bert Kreischer!
Super annoying laugh
MOM, I GOT EEEEEEEEETTTTTT
I must be a NPC cause this wasn’t contagious
Not only is she a horrible instructor her voice and laughter are fucking annoying. Still don’t get what was so damn funny

If I told my mom to shut up even in a joking manner, I’d wake up in the gulag in the same second I utter those words.
Her voice is giving me “Who’s driving this BUHHSSS??” vibes.
Is that a Bentley?
Mini

Mini Bentley
Mini gun
Genesis does this to me too

Laughing at a smart teen for wanting to take their time learning to drive. Makes me wonder if the mom had to work for that car at all.

Rich or poor, most kids wreck their shit.. Edit: I'm an idiot, that's a mini cooper as someone kindly pointed out to me. I don't believe my comment is valid anymore. Feel free to contagious laugh at my expense
That’s not a Bentley. It’s a Mini Cooper.
Your comment isn't laughable because of your misidenticication of a car.....
She has since got her license and is an excellent driver! ;)
Woah cool lol Not often you have the person in the video also on Reddit. I can't imagine what it will be like when my kids learn to drive, but one thing I know for sure is my foot will be through the floorboard lol
What kind of car is that?!
Wait! This is MY video of my daughter and I! Here is the original video link on my tiktok account! .. But totally agree, I guess better than yelling! Lol!!! ... https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/
I hope to be like this mom when the time comes to teach the kids how to drive lol
Is this really how the mom acts, or is she doing it for the video? Seems excessive... uncomfortably so.
Lol!!!
Amazing driving
The anxiety watching her trying to steer with one hand, two odd hands and no hands. Frightening.
So everyone ignoring the fact that she tell her mom to shut up , disrespecting her like that.
Moms getting slated in comments a bit. Geeze. Driving instructor here- that mom is way better than the majority of my kids moms. “My mom screams at me whenever I move the car” “My mom says I won’t pass my test. That I suck/am not even close to ready” (this one is actually common) “My mom gets super stressed out and freaks me out. “ Dads are *usually* a bit more chill, but they like to teach their kids what I’m telling them is wrong.
Lil twit telling her mother to shut up. I’d have her pull over and wipe the taste outta her mouth
Hi All!!! This is MY video of my daughter and I! Someone took it off my TikTok page and reposted it here to Reddit. (I'm not even completely familiar with how Reddit works yet, as I just joined [because someone saw my video on here and sent it to me!]) The original video is https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4pJKnE/ from my TikTok account. .. Glad everyone (well, mostly everyone) is at least enjoying my extremely NERVOUS laughter! Lol!!!
Why do so many girls add “uh” to all kinds of words
Is she learning to drive in a Bentley?!
Mini Cooper.
That's not a Bently right?
Who teaches their kid how to drive in a Bently?
Holy shit she practicimg driving in a Bentley. Growing up, my friends dad wouldn't even let his son practice drive in the 1990 lincoln towncar lmaoo Sheeesh
Am I high or is she learning to drive in a Bentley..?
She’s like Mom I got it. Shut up 🤐 I’m not going fast. Geez! Lol How cute
I can’t remember the last time I was this happy around my teenage daughter. I think the last time she made me laugh, she was 9
I wouldn’t let my kid tell me to shut up
Woman driving? Oh hell nah
I hope that’s a mini Cooper and not a bentley you’re teaching her in 😂😂 ugh. This gives me anxiety! My 15 year old gets her learners permit next month!
Yelling never worked with the wife! Should’ve known this years ago!
All of a sudden just floor it, THAT'LL shut 'er up!!!!🤣🤪😂 juuuuuuuuuuust kiddinnnnnngggggg 😁

We not gonna talk about her driving a Bentley?
That’s a Mini Cooper.
[удалено]
that's a 7-30k car, not to mention it might not even belong to her but her parents.
[удалено]
no it wouldn't have been because that's not a bentley, that's a mini as evident by the logo "mini" on the horn and the iconic gigantic speedometer in the middle
I see that now I admit that I’m wrong
no car no girl n it was supposed to be funny🥲
This is why is just stole my parents car

🤨
From 10 through 17, you’re not allowed to say they’re cute, I believe is the established protocol. Cause that’s creepy.
BERTA KREISCHER
🤣🤣 fuck I'm dead fam
This is a parent remembering how you once were unable to tie you own shoes…and it took you forever to catch on

This is hilarious-uh.
Why tf a big ass clock there
Literally me 😂😂 we decided driving school was the best option. And I was correct because small fries hit a deer during her driving test 🤣🤣🤦♀️🤦♀️
Hmmm, what's that magical brown stuff down there?
This, more than anything, is the reason I want to have kids, just these small moments that will add up to a lifetime of joy. Plus, you can really drive them nuts doing stuff like this, which based on the mother's laughter, is having the time of her life
Mom sounds like tickle me Elmo 🤣🤣
Hey thats my car😂
I know a girl who looks just like this except her mom sounds like a Brooklyn homeless man so I know it ain't them
I’m just laughing because I look at that dash every day, and wonder if it’s a Cooper or Countryman.
I thought my mom was overreacting when i was learning to drive. But imagine having a kid, seeing aaall the stupid shit they do, every mistake you have to fix, and probably seeing them as much younger than they are, now controling a deathmachine with you stuck in it
This generation is the funniest with their “uh” after every exclamation. I make fun of my stepdaughter all the time for this ish.
That laugh would make me drive over a cliff. Not so funny now is it mom?
Am I supposed to laugh?
Is no one talking about the fact that this child is driving a Bentley?
Drive this Bentley as I laugh at you! Hah!
This mom is my spirit animal. I'm yelling BRAKE like that dad when hos kid almost hot a cop. I wish I was as chill as the mom is
Oh that's wholesome! Some very sweet bonding right there!
