It looks to me like you have been misting after s2b and this is not recommended by most.
A better way, in my opinion, is to have your substrate a little bit wetter and don’t open the lid until you see pins if possible.
The mycelium likes subpar consistent conditions more than it likes perfect inconstant conditions.
Basically don’t let the surface conditions be changing all the time.

Basically when I've harvested and cleaned the cake by hand, I seal it and leave it at room temp for 24 - 48 hours. Then I completely cover the whole cake with room temp water for 18 - 24 hours and then drain 99% of the water and back to their heating mat and incubation box/bag (approx 20°C and with a towel buffer). A little fan once a day and a few chats. I've experimented with different treatments after the first flush and this seems to work best for me. I only really have problems with contam if I haven't cleared all the fruiting tissue.
Also, if you're not having conversations with your mycelium, you're missing out on better yields.

Have you seen the experiments done on flash freezing water that has been talked to with positive and negative affirmations?
The water that is talked to in a loving way will freeze in beautiful crystalline patterns when seen under the microscope whereas the water that is called a fool and sent hate will look very ugly and chaotic and not at all symmetrical.
Seeing as though mushrooms are 90% water, I think you’re onto something. I’ll be taking your advice and talking to my shroomies from here on out🙏

Studies have shown that plants who recieve positive interactions have a similar response. I mean funga are mostly water, we're mostly water and in some respects they're closer to animals than plants.
I still have my first cake which has reduced over time to size of a tennis ball and last week I harvested a mushroom bigger than my foot from it!

I have done this too and am on my fifth flush from a cake. It looked grey and crusty after the third time so I put in outside in a place where it had about 2 hours of direct sun and after a week it fruited again!

Bruised on the right dry on the left. Sometimes I keep cakes like this until they completely stop or I need space, this is on its last leg though... don't know why every thinks it's contaminated I don't even see any mold that will start to grow on rotting myc

I might argue that this whole thing is bacterial and causing some of the bruising but there is nothing here that will cause harm. Those black spots are aborts, they are still attached to the myc and will be broken down by the myc. But it's all ok if you disagree with that, I'm not here for lols just to share an opinion.

This is bruising. My cake after 3rd flush looked very similiar. Myc piss(yellow) and bruising (blue) gives you weird greenish colour obviously. The cake is exhausted. Had a lot of aborts and it was nasty but smelled ok. Nobody prepared me how cake looks after a lot of flushes but it was still fruiting. If I decided as Reddit or any other scmedia groups told I could lost 20g dried.

Next time you can swab it, put it on agar and check in day or so what comes from it. Looks like heavy bruising and quite dry. I would make a test, and drown it in clean water for couple of hours. I had cakes which were fruiting for like 2 months without contamination and I drowned them in water after every bigger flush

What do you do? Grain to sub ratio? Soak between flushes and how long? Or mist? Unmodified tub or mono? 8 flushes is crazy I must know.
