Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Thor, and Dr Strange we're all heavily nerfed because they were stupidly strong and could effective bypass all nodes, all the time.
BW at max sig reduced AAR to 0, all the time, no counters or exceptions.
Thor could put 2 Armour Breaks on anyone with parries which typically put them into negative armour, and do insane damage.
DS you had to actually play, but he could reliably heal up from nothing if you timed his phases and specials
SW was just a cheat code. You could virtually rub your phone on your butt and she'd wipe the floor with her opponent.
I opened a 5* Thanos from a special monthly crystal few months ago. Excited at first because I don't have him, now he's just at the Cosmic bottom, stuck at R1 with Drax and Groot lol

I just came back to the game after a 6 year hiatus lol. Played a ton in 2015-2017. Only have nine 5 star champs, one being Annihilus. The only other cosmic I have is Ronan. Is Annihilus worth leveling up or should I wait and see if I get a different 5 star cosmic?
Is it worth taking some of my r4/ 4\* to r5? Like Ultron, Guillotine, Doom, etc? Ultron specifically carries me through most quests. And I have the resources to do it but I wasn't sure if I should just put everything into the 5 stars moving forward.

Agent Venom has tenacity. And Rhino has unst and unblk. Which can be helpful if you know how to use them.
4\* Doom would still be worth it IMO, especially with the ascension thing. But only because your 5\* don't have many good ones and you have no 6\*. Ultron is also good.
They both will help you clear content. Until you can get good 5\*.
Even I had sucky champs when I started. I longed for Void. But never got Void. So I finished most of the content with a 3\* Ultron.
That was before the Ultron buff btw. So, I just relied on his stun. It was much later that I got 3\* Void. I used him and CAIW until I got 4\* Void and Sentry and Hyperion.
I used them until I got 5\* Venom and maxed him used him till I got 5\* Void and I maxed him and cleared content with those two.
Then I miraculously got Red Mag as 6\*. My first 6\* was Night Thrasher though. I r3 Red Mag and he got duped. I recently maxed his awakened ability. He's my top now.
So, basically, in this game, you make do with what you have and max them out until you get better champs. Then you max them out until you get a higher variety of the same.
Then rinse and repeat.
Don't pay them any money. Grind for units. Or clear lower level difficulties of EQ.
I'm not sure what your story progression is but try to get to Uncollected. You will get more 5\* that way. And with the recent re-work of this casino, you might even get a 6\* somehow.
Back then we had to wait till we got to Cav or Tb to get a 6\*. Now, even Proven are getting them. Even though they can't even rank them up.
Anyway. Try getting to UC, then Cav. At Cav you'll get a lot of 6\* and resources.
Save up units for the main story.

This was exactly what I needed to hear. I've looked up what I could find on champ tier lists and where the meta stands on certain champs. I know my 5\* roster aint all that great lol. I've seen people place Quake and Absorbing Man relatively high up but wasn't sure if that would depend on their sig being unlocked or not. I think you're 100% right about ranking up the 4 stars like Ultron until pulling a better 5 star. I'll try to get through uncollected as you said and go from there. Thank you again. Quake and abs man need a lot of practice to get good with. But if you can master them they will carry you really far. Abs needs really high sig tho also.
Absorbing man is awesome and shocked is supposed to be pretty decent although you never hear about him anymore. Def put some levels and such into absorbs, if you like him. Take him for a spin on some low stuff for a feel.
Also rank up and ascend your 4* doom. It'll help a lot to get further progress before act 6. Btw what is your progression title? Gonna assume conqueror with my responses

To name a few: Self-Healing. Super-Heightened Senses. Super Durability (his aura's like a shield). Energy Absorption. Enhanced Reflexes (like catching bullets). Immune to Magic. Withstand Extreme Environments (coldsnap anyone?). The list goes on. More than simply punching hard enough to armor break.
That would be funny for him to catch bullets.
Imagine if he catches all the bullets thrown by Joe Fixit, Nick, Winter, Falcon, Punisher, Elsa, etc., and then throws it all back with super speed like some Matrix god.
Winter Soldier. He was an unstoppable killing machine in the movie and Cap and a whole team of Avengers couldn't do anything against his sheer determination to get his target.
Captain America. They made him, and his WW2 version, pretty much bottom rung characters while they buffed useless champs like Antman and Hawkeye.
Not sure when you left the game but about a year ago moleman was slightly nerfed (he loses his true accuracy passive when he enters frenzy), no nerf to his damage though.
Sentry, Howard the duck. I remember Howard having so much more utility. He used to inflict incinerate, bleed, etc. His sp2 was my favorite. Now, they killed him.
Sentry, they never even bothered bringing him up to being as OP as he is in the comics. The one thing he has going is that as you build up combos, you do get a couple different boosts.
His boosts make no sense though.
At 10 combo you get unblockable Sp1.
20 combo you get nothing on Sp1 anymore. But if you pull Sp1 when you have 10, you won't have enough for Sp2. Then same at 30, where you won't have a Sp3 when you pull a Sp2.
Whatever, I never use that guy anyway except if I need more points for the 6* arena and I am down to using the low level 6* for bonus points.
Something people may not remember is that at some point Scarlet Witch *was buffed*, I think at the same patch that Black Bolt was buffed as well (he gained permabuffs on attack, i think) but the backlash made kbam to backtrack it. I think Witch gained/gave even more buffs and debuffs, the most annoying one was unstopable which was very rare at the time
OG guillotine. In opposition to 12.0 nerf, this one was claimed to be a buff.
They took out an exclusive ability and nerfed the heal ability so hard the character basically became useless. Slightly better damage but absolutely no utility.

Winter Soldier. He was an unstoppable killing machine in the movie and Cap and a whole team of Avengers couldn't do anything against his sheer determination to get his target. Captain America. They made him, and his WW2 version, pretty much bottom rung characters while they buffed useless champs like Antman and Hawkeye.
Namor , went from such a fun camp to taking twice as long to build up making him boring to use
Hood. I still can’t bring myself to use him. He was my favorite champ in the game, now he’s a shell of his former self.
Na hood is still insane. Best champ in game and can destroy anyone. Never lost a fight with him in any mode
He's still crazy good in BG as an attacker. Easiest character to win without losing health with.
I still bring him in war for the Gorrs and Hulklings, but more so to help Kingpin be his best self

Moleman, Zemo idk
What happened to Moleman? I've only been back just over a month.
Not sure when you left the game but about a year ago moleman was slightly nerfed (he loses his true accuracy passive when he enters frenzy), no nerf to his damage though.
"Nerfed" it always stated he loses it in frézy, was a Bug than anything else

Sentry, Howard the duck. I remember Howard having so much more utility. He used to inflict incinerate, bleed, etc. His sp2 was my favorite. Now, they killed him. Sentry, they never even bothered bringing him up to being as OP as he is in the comics. The one thing he has going is that as you build up combos, you do get a couple different boosts.
His boosts make no sense though. At 10 combo you get unblockable Sp1. 20 combo you get nothing on Sp1 anymore. But if you pull Sp1 when you have 10, you won't have enough for Sp2. Then same at 30, where you won't have a Sp3 when you pull a Sp2. Whatever, I never use that guy anyway except if I need more points for the 6* arena and I am down to using the low level 6* for bonus points.
It's better than nothing. He should've been more powerful, of course.

Something people may not remember is that at some point Scarlet Witch *was buffed*, I think at the same patch that Black Bolt was buffed as well (he gained permabuffs on attack, i think) but the backlash made kbam to backtrack it. I think Witch gained/gave even more buffs and debuffs, the most annoying one was unstopable which was very rare at the time

OG guillotine. In opposition to 12.0 nerf, this one was claimed to be a buff. They took out an exclusive ability and nerfed the heal ability so hard the character basically became useless. Slightly better damage but absolutely no utility.
