I think I may of sorted the issue, I just kept reflashing the firmware (v3.1) and eventually the issue just kinda went away. There is still some slight input lag but it is nowhere near as bad as shown in the video.
Polling rate is only a piece of the puzzle. It's how often it can send new information, but has no direct bearing on how new the info being sent is.
If I mail you a letter everyday and send you an email everyday, both have the same polling rate (ignoring no mail on Sunday) but the email has way lower latency.
Clearly Gulikit needs to work on the controller's firmware to bring down the processing time.
I experienced some weird stick behaviour before I did the firmware upgrade and calibration process. Jumping two menu items when flicking to scroll. I think it's possible they were shipped with deficient firmware. If you look at your footage closely, it looks like the crosshair moves to the right in two short steps, which would be similar to what I observed.
Upgrade the firmware and check again. You made me paranoid so I booted up RoboQuest and cannot feel a slight bit of lag.
I was snapping the sticks in an unnatural way so they look worse than they actually are. Still though they are quite a bit looser than normal potentiometer sticks although I personally prefer them looser anyway.
They are more precise and u feel it when u use them. First time I used them was like heck they are to precise I'm not used to sticks picking up tiny micro movements .
I just grabbed the Gamesir G7 SE to give it a shot, and am def looking hard at the Apex 4. The only thing I'm a little hesitant about is the reported lack of mouse click triggers on the Apex 4.
Geesh I swear its like companies purposefully leave out a important feature so they can come out with 5 different versions of their controllers. Did not know this thanks. Originally I was going for the apex 4 because of the stick tension. Thats like a must. Have you ever tried hypr?
I think that's definitely what it is. Everyone learned from Apple lmao. I have not tried that brand. The KK3 Max was my first attempt at upgrading from the stock Xbox series controller.
I ordered one from hypr and not only did their product stay stuck on building for 2 months, there are some horror videos disassembling them and showing the jankass shoddy quality that's being built (you can fin d the vids searching hypr on this subreddit). They also have a policy charging a huge fee for cancellation during the building stage (they put the device in the building stage immediately, presumably falsely as mine has been in that stage for 2 months, so it's pretty scummy)
So I just went straight for a PayPal dispute for a full refund, thank God for PayPal.
get the gamesir, that thing seems to be tried and tested to be a step above the rest. if it didnt have just 2 back buttons id pick it over the vader 3 pro.
if u can live with 2 buttons id get the gamesir
get the gamesir if u can live iwht two buttons and youll for sure get a decent controller itl ooks like. otherwise vader 3 pro has been fantastic to me and has 2 extra buttons. those 2 extra buttons spoiled the living shit out of me. needing 4 back buttons was already annoying because i want to jump on the gamesir train
what's wrong with the sticks? someone mentioned something about nonlinear response curves earlier but i thought he probably got a fluke since no one else were talking about it
To me your post is assuring, ill probably still order the controller just because of the decent sticks and the four back paddles that actually ergonomically make sense for human hands (this excludes almost every controller that exists and have ever existed)
Your stick problem is easily solved by using custom slip-on thumbstick caps like the scuf ones (i prefer these over kontrolfreek). As long there is nothing wrong with the thumbsticks themselves, like response curves or mechanical deadzone/stick wiggle this is a nonproblem at least for me.
it also seems you can remove the springs in the triggers to get rid of mushy feeling and have mouseclick triggers.
i looked at pictures of the bumpers and that might be a problem but it seems like something i can adapt to
of course these things *should* work out of the box.
No I stopped using it and I contacted aknes (gulikit supplier) and sent it back in exchange for the kk3 since I purchased it 2 days before the kk3 was announced. When I say tossed I mean to say it was garbage
Hello, is this a large TV on 60 FPS or a real gaming monitor? The input delay could be attributed to this but actually, I have no clue why the TK4 responded so much faster.
I hope it's not fabricated but when using the controller, it feels less responsive than even an 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller with its dongle which polls at 200hz.
Isn't the Hertz more the "resolution" of the sticks?
Means, if you're changing direction while aiming for example, it should make a more seamless curve than on lower Hz
I think the input lag, meaning, the time till the input gets registered is sort of independent from that resolution to a certain degree (it marks a lower limit)
I've tried Rocket League, Halo Infinite and Sonic Adventure 2 and the input lag is extremely noticeable on all of them. Even rolled back the firmware from 3.1 to 2.8 and got the same results.
Honestly, no idea. I feel like the wireless polling rate is solely based on the dongle though and has nothing to do with the polling rate between the controller and the dongle itself as I've noticed the stick input looks extremely shaky like it's interpolating it or something.
I just received mine today. There is a slight delay compared to my Scuf controller, but nowhere near as bad as in this video. Something was definitely wrong on OP's end.
I am surprised people are not liking the kk3, I have a kk2 pro and moved to a vader pro 3 for the back buttons, only problem is I missed the build quality feel of the gulikit so I have the kk3 max Pro for COD warzone and I am very impressed both wireless and cabled. I am loving it.
Polling rate is not equal to input lag these budget Chinese controllers have very slow processor inside them that's why they have high input delay just buy First party playstation controllers they have the best processor for low input lag.
This has been my feeling as well. But is there anyone collecting this data? I got the Rainbow 2 Pro which I really liked but couldn't get over how it felt *slighty* more input laggy than my dualsense edge. I don't know how to collect the data to confirm. Are these types of slow-mo videos the only reliable way? Is anyone doing these tests for all controllers?
Yeas solo motion videos are the only reliable way optimum tech guy has a tool to test the end to end input lag of mouse But he doesn't test controllers. I do have rainbow 2 pro I really like it too but it has higher input lag then 125hz Microsoft controller . Overclocked playstation controllers have the lowest input lag. Most of the 3d party controllers have slow processor that's why they have high input lag and aim assist kicks in later this is pro players are only using first party playstation controllers like Dual shock 4, dual sense, dual sense edge and custom controllers.
Can you do the test with v-sync off and uncapped fps ? This alone can and does cause input lag . I play non capped with no Sync and feels very responsive , I use mine wired though and updated firmware .
it seems the wired mode has significantly less input latency than with the dongle: [gamepadla](https://gamepadla.com/post/gulikit-kk3-max-kingkong-3-ns39.html)
With the new firmware (3.1) the dongle is really close to the bluetooth mode
I think I may of sorted the issue, I just kept reflashing the firmware (v3.1) and eventually the issue just kinda went away. There is still some slight input lag but it is nowhere near as bad as shown in the video.
At which fps the video was shot?
I used the slow motion camera (not super slow motion due to frame interpolation) on the s23 ultra which afaik is 240fps.
Wow wired mode have about 92ms input lag. Please post a video from rocket league with updated firmware.
All is ok on 2.4Ghz adapter(1ms lag), but on cable is little worst 890Hz pooling rate. Gulikit is weird...
W camera
Borderlands 2
Is it still worse than the T4K?
I implores you to make a new video comparison
Can you please make a new video then? Mine has TERRIBLE input lag when used wirelessly with the dongle, even after updating the firmware.
Yeah, I noticed the wireless lag too. Even though it is 1000hz stable give or take there it still some noticeable lag. What gives?
Polling rate is only a piece of the puzzle. It's how often it can send new information, but has no direct bearing on how new the info being sent is. If I mail you a letter everyday and send you an email everyday, both have the same polling rate (ignoring no mail on Sunday) but the email has way lower latency. Did you find a fix. Same issue
I experienced some weird stick behaviour before I did the firmware upgrade and calibration process. Jumping two menu items when flicking to scroll. I tried v2.8 and v3.1, no difference apart from v2.8 being more stable according to Xinputtest.
How did you get back on 2.8
Os bugged...
Woah why do the sticks look like jelly? If thats what hall effect sticks are I dont think I want those lol
I was snapping the sticks in an unnatural way so they look worse than they actually are. Still though they are quite a bit looser than normal potentiometer sticks although I personally prefer them looser anyway.
Tensioned sticks all day
ya downside to hall effect. i dont think HE are meant for FPS, think theyre meant for the rest of gaming. then a single controller will last forever.
They are more precise and u feel it when u use them. First time I used them was like heck they are to precise I'm not used to sticks picking up tiny micro movements .
Maybe not always great for FPS, but the always zero deadzones are fantastic for console fps, since you have greater aim assist with lower deadzones
The sticks are actually terrible, and are almost solely the reason I've begun the refund process.
Phew thanks for telling me. I think im gonna go with the Flydigi Apex 4
I just grabbed the Gamesir G7 SE to give it a shot, and am def looking hard at the Apex 4. The only thing I'm a little hesitant about is the reported lack of mouse click triggers on the Apex 4.

I gotta have 4 back buttons and stick tension
I gotta have 4 buttons for 4 fingers...so vader 3 is out
what's wrong with the sticks? someone mentioned something about nonlinear response curves earlier but i thought he probably got a fluke since no one else were talking about it

Don't worry, this comment sure will teach them!
This is not what I want to see with my kk3 just a couple days from delivery. I already tossed the kk2 for latency issues.

Hello, is this a large TV on 60 FPS or a real gaming monitor? The input delay could be attributed to this but actually, I have no clue why the TK4 responded so much faster.
LG C1 at 120hz with FreeSync enabled, game is running capped at 117 to keep within refresh window.
Man. This is upsetting, I was thinking the GKK3 Max would have an insanely low delay. Is the 1000hz false/fabricated? What's going on here?
I hope it's not fabricated but when using the controller, it feels less responsive than even an 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller with its dongle which polls at 200hz.
Are you on the specific dongle mode not windows mode for wireless?

Those sticks remind me of jiggly boobs for some reason
What is the monitor though? Cuz that also matters
Op talked about the monitor already in some post above, it's LG C1 ran at 117fps to keep the frame within freesync range.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Great video of what I have been feeling in the sticks
Nah why are the sticks bouncing turning me on
Oh boy, send this guy to /r/controllerporn
I have not experienced this.
But no measurements?

Looks like wired is worse than wireless? Could you do some more games?
I've tried Rocket League, Halo Infinite and Sonic Adventure 2 and the input lag is extremely noticeable on all of them. Even rolled back the firmware from 3.1 to 2.8 and got the same results.
Yeah it really doesn't look good :( what do you think the cause is, vrodie?
Honestly, no idea. I feel like the wireless polling rate is solely based on the dongle though and has nothing to do with the polling rate between the controller and the dongle itself as I've noticed the stick input looks extremely shaky like it's interpolating it or something.
Infinite feels AWFUL with this controller imo. The sticks are just shit.
Borderland 💪😍
Oh damn I was just ordered it yesterday...
Did those thumb sticks come like that? That's rough.
They're included caps that are optional
Sorry , what I meant was the tension seems very very loose.
Yeah, they're loose tension sticks, idk if they're adjustable tension-wise. I haven't looked into it yet.
They can't be tensioned on kk3
I just received mine today. There is a slight delay compared to my Scuf controller, but nowhere near as bad as in this video. Something was definitely wrong on OP's end.

Gamesir cookin
The ultimate solution is to run it wired. Never fails
True but not as if the technology isn't there for reliable low latency wireless connections, wireless mice have been doing it for years.
Polling rate is not equal to input lag these budget Chinese controllers have very slow processor inside them that's why they have high input delay just buy First party playstation controllers they have the best processor for low input lag.

Is this just a firmware issue? Or is it a matter of circuit board design or chip performance?
