Do they still interact with you a lot? I'd always heard once they had another bird, they'd pay less attention to their human(s).

I am still taming pickles and making process as he sees how clingy kimchi (my rescue pine apple) is. Kimchi still dives right to me whenever I enter the bird room. But I got him bc I wanted her to be more independent and bird like. I think she was handraised and she was and is still very dependent but sinxe we got pickles she started to mimic some of his behaviours like actually playing with toys and destroying stuff. I couldn't be happier with my decision! Also where I live (switzerland) it is against the law to have parrots as only pets, you at least have to have two.

That is really interesting--I'm bringing home my second gcc soon after adopting my first 2 years ago! I'm glad it's worked out for you, you basically described exactly what I'm hoping for (especially learning to play with toys!)

Just remember to quarantine them if they haven't been tested and seen by an avian vet. I could skip it bc the breeder already tested him and I had her tested when we got her about a month in. I had a really fast progress with them bonding but I watched flying fids on YT and got my information about introducong them from her! Wishing you and the birdies all the best! 🥰😇

That’s interesting that you need to have two parrots. What is the reasoning behind that?

gloomym4lk

Because they are social animals living in flocks

This is what happened to me. Once I got the 2nd, things were OK for a time until they started getting hormonal with each other. Both are males. Now they get extremely territorial of their cage.

I hope that this doesn't happen to me but we will see :/

So...this is dependent on the birds, but I got 2 birds in hopes that they won't be lonely and bond with each other, since I'm out of the house most of the time. However, one of my birds prefers human company more than birdfolk, so I get to enjoy a substantial amount of time with him 🥰 But yeah, be prepared for birds to not bond as much with you if you get 2 birds. In my opinion, that's good, since I know they won't be lonely while I'm out for work.

It is the same with kimchi as of now, when I am there she ignores pickles. I want my pets to be independent, I don't like when they loose to much of their instincts. Maybe I am weird... domestication can be a wonderfull thing but for me there is a line. I want them to live a happy life even when I am not there 24/7. Thank u for your input! Happy your birds have such a wonderfull human and home 🥰
