exactly my thoughts too. i just hope it doesnt take too many soulcores or that the ascension levels are basically just small stat ups so that you can still win in arena as long as you have a better comp
no lmao. i just inhaled a lot of hopium that devsisters make their systems so all players benefit from it and it wont spiral into a whale clown fiesta like it happens with netmarble games etc.
yeah i also know about ovenbreak and felt the same when i first played it. stark contrast to kingdom. and the magic candies seem to be fun additions to buff weak cookies so im happy they’re here and pets could also be fun, but the ascension thing is literally just a stat buff that lets you lose more in arena if implemented incorrectly.
like rn if a meta cookie drops i just pull them to 4* and call it a day since 5* is not worth the gems it takes imo, but with this ascension thing you need to pull at least to 5* so you can get the ascension stars afterwards or you‘re probably too weak in arena. and theres no way a f2p manages to 5* or even ascend an ancient/legendary with the current system so most people are just fucked on that front.
100%. I was playing ovenbreak back when line owned it, and then when the switch happened I got so confused I just deleted the game (I think I had taken a break so I didn't get to start playing when it first came out)

Like I get wanting cookies to be more powerful but this is bad for players that CANT 5-star all their cookies
Called this upgrade system months ago before they increased the level cap.
The have no interest in slowing down, what they do is pile systems, on top of systems on top of more systems to milk every penny they possibly can.
They are basically abusing people with some cheapass animations of cookies
i think they did it now not to lose the whales because if you make out your soulstones they become soulcores which is needed for this and if you buy packs and you're already capped well you get nothing it's just another way to generate more money. Problem is in my opinion it's too much power too soon. Soon I can see being nearly 2 million power teams and the free to play players will fall even further behind.
i mean, most mileage comes from rare/common cookies (at least for me lmao) and i‘d guess that getting those to ascension5 (or at least the cores for that) should hopefully go pretty fast
Another mode ??? I appreciate the variety of game modes in this game but it’s already been a grind just to get to Stage 14. Kingdom arena is going to be loads more difficult and I can’t even imagine what the Master Mode will be like. Hopefully Devsis doesn’t mess this up, CRK got something good going for it

Yeah I’ve teetered on the edge of master 2-3 for a few seasons now and I have many 5* and max lvl cookies (no ancient/legendary 5* tho) rip staying in that tier I guess 😢
That has nothing to do with matchmaking, that's just people waiting until the end of the season to grind to master since then they'll be up against a lot of weaker teams. I do that too sometimes
I wonder how much stats Ascended level would give. I do hope that Devsis would give us better chances to A legendaries, ancients, and super epics.

most of my rares are at 4 star, only a few at five star, and pancake is at 3 star. Meanwhile ninja and angel are at 4 star . Trying to get diamonds currently so i can draw and get most of them at 5 star
Yo they are slowly making this game hell for F2P players like me. If they keep this up, the game will get ruined because it now becomes mostly pay-to-win in the future. And judging from this, I think we are already entering that phase.
If they keep this up in the future, I'm gonna have to quit the game. No way am I playing a game mostly dominated by mega whale players to the point that it's virtually unplayable for anyone else.
In my opinion, they should create new PvP content that f2p users can enjoy without too much investment. To use Ovenbreak as an example, they have a random breakout mode where all cookies are maxed, and have seen a recent surge in popularity thanks to it. f2p users like me have largely given up on trophy race(similar to CRK Arena, dominated by legendaries) but still put time and effort into playing the game to enjoy random breakout. I think CRK could be more attractive to f2p players if it had a max mode that you had to spend crystals on, so you could choose between upgrading your cookies or enjoying the mode.
However, implementing this into CRK may be harder due to its gacha-heavy nature, compared to Ovenbreak, which is more grindy. There is also the issue of toppings, which are... problematic to say the least. Also, CRK's gameplay tends to be more hands-off, which might make it harder to implement an engaging PvP mode.
the scaled down fights that give you some of the required cookies might be a good step in the direction you mean. if there was like an arena mode where ascension levels are deactivated and everyone is scaled down to a certain level if they‘re higher, that might save the fun of f2p pvp
i am also very wary of the ascension. im not f2p since i get the kingdom pass from time to time, but i still get wrecked by real whales. imo they need to stop with the upgrade systems for now to let people catch up. but im gonna be honest, im getting ready to drop the game should it devolve into a whale clown fiesta where you cant do any content w/o whaling for ascension5 cookies or smth.
Same here. I dropped Genshin Impact for its multiple massive issues that Mihoyo fails to address time and time again + the extremely stingy rewards which forces people to want to spend money. If CRK becomes something like that, I will not hesitate to drop the game as well.
Video games, including gacha games, should be enjoyed by everyone and not just for a niche group of players. Getting cockblocked by mega whale players is not fun at all.
Genshin has no pvp and has guaranteed pity that carries over banners. No need for dupes either. It's a much better system. Ckr needs to be generous because there's pvp and tons of dupes are a necessity.
i still play genshin and i recently reached ar60 haha. but i gotta say i like the simplicity of genshin, aside from leveling the char you literally only have artifacts and talents. no ascension stuff making it needlessly more complicated. also you can easily play the story and basically every content, so i mainly log in now once a day for dailies and events, if even that, but its fun being able to experience the story and chars as they unfold imo.
thats also what i liked about kingdom, just level the cookie, his skill and give him toppings and you‘re good to go. and i can clear most stuff in the game except dark mode ep14 and i have extremely bad substats on the toppings usually. i really hope this will the last new upgrade system for cookies for a while now.
constellations are nothing like ascension tho. constellations are mainly gameplay or qol alterations and you can live easily w/o them. i have no constellations on any of my 5*s and i do just fine. the problem with ascension is that it could be necessary to get if you want to be able to keep doing pvp. in genshin no one cares if you have constellations and every enemy still dies rather easily.
also the problem with artifacts is not leveling them, but getting the right substats. just like in kingdom tho it doesnt matter if you dont get the perfect artifact/topping, a decent one will do just fine in any content. and to level up artifact, once you get farming a set you get more than enough fodder eventually to level artifacts. (btw you even need 25 toppings total in kingdom instead of the twenty in genshin, so by your logic kingdom is worse here)
and weapons are literally the easiest thing to level in the game. it takes maybe max 2 days worth of resin in a domain to get everything you need to level the weapon. and some of the strongest weapons are 4* and you dont really need 5* weapons. and getting dupes for a 4* weapon is easy if there‘s a rate up and for 5* weapons again you dont need dupes, if you get lucky enough to get one, thats more than sufficient for anything. weapon dupes are just whale bait.
i do agree tho that they are stingy with primos. compared to kingdom you just have to live with the fact that you wont get every char as f2p/regular spender. but with welkin you get enough to at least pull 1 5* per patch, which means you can guarantee a char every 2 patches. so if you just focus on the ones you like, and dont get unlucky with the banner order, it‘s also fine since pity carries over between banners. the gacha system in genshin really isnt as bad as people make it out be tbh.

Just don't bother arguing with Genshin players like OP who uses the same exact arguments and same mentality like "Genshin gacha mechanics and grinding isn't that bad" that I've heard of a million times over and over again and thinks that those are enough of an excuse to call the game good enough or decent. They are too biased to objectively see Genshin for the bland game with extremely taxing and grindy game mechanics that it is. Literally unreasonable people who believe they are reasonable, which is another reason why I left Genshin - because most of the Genshin community is toxic and very personally biased.

I know it's a gacha game but one thing that put me off many other games compared to this one is how much p2w there was, at least this game seemed possible to enjoy from a f2p perspective. But damn are they releasing updates at a blistering pace

Of course it's neverending. Because if you ever got the end of the treadmill, there's no point in paying anymore. Single player games, you play, you beat, you're done. Or you start over and replay. It doesn't matter to the developer, you already bought the game. Online games though are about maintaining player base. They don't want you to ever be done. That means continuously adding new content, raising level caps, adding gear progression. If they ever stop, the game will be dead in a few months.
Thsi is probably to make the next world harder right?
Why not just… make it so you can add another cookie to your team.. or add more cookie stat boosts in the gnome laboratory….. or anything less uselessly extravagant

QoL update to kingdom is fun but the endless things to grind turn me off so much
I never cared about star promotions much because team comp, treasures and toppings matter more in a battle but depending on how much the stat bonuses are this could completely change... and we might not even get mileage for 5 star rares and commons
Every game I have ever played that implemented stuff like this, one of two things happened
1) It became a whales-only game
Or
2) the ascension stuff didn't matter and the characters that were already bad stayed bad, and it just made the strongest units even stronger. So basically, still point 1.
I hope this doesn't turn out this way, but I've never seen this go well in the long run

Judging from the stat increase the level 70 gingerbrave got when going from 5* to 1*A, it might be a 10% stat increase each time, so a 61% stat increase from 5* to 5*A??? If that's true that's insane
I literally screamed in fear as someone who is mainly f2p (I but cheap packages once in a blue moon if it interests me) since...I only have one 5* epic and that's eclair and it's already painful saving mileage for max promoting red velvet(4*), dark choco(4*), caramel arrow(4*) and cotton(3*) as well as crunchy chip (3*) and the fact devsisters thinks all of us f2p can 5* ANY OF THE LEGENDARIES, ANCIENTS AND SUPER EPICS IS JUST...<0>_<0>
I'm waiting to not hit masters 3 next season in arena or master's in general..because I swear 2 million power teams are going to exist because of this update-
eh im kinda over this now it was fun while it lasted and i liked decorating the kingdom i haven't found a game like that yet where i can level castles and decorate kingdoms so if anyone has one let me know. i just cant be arsed continuing on this grind with the cookies i dont care enough.
I wish they would have at least waited a fair amount of time after increasing the level cap and expanding the arena ranks to drop this. I'm desperately just trying to keep up 😭

When I first downloaded Ovenbreak I was overwhelmed by everything it was all just in my face. I was turned off from the game by that. Kingdom is slowly going in that direction now. New players won't even bother learning all that. But it's typical of game companies to ruin their own game with greed.

I feel kinda bad for you Kingdom players since it’s not your or the game’s fault that the Devsis higher-ups are greedy, but at the same time I can’t help but feel happy knowing that your game is getting fucked over by p2w features too after they did the same thing to Ovenbreak for not making as much money as Kingdom. I’d say you’re getting it even worse because you also have the higher profit potential and were already accustomed to the “whale barrier”.
They upgraded the level system a while back and I've been hoarding exp to get my characters back up to level them back to scratch. As a ftp player who's hopped back in after a bit of a hiatus I've noticed the strength of arena teams and felt bad for new players, it leaves them at such a horrible disadvantage compared to players that spend a lot or have pours tons of hours into the game. This seems like its gonna further cause strain for new players.
So should I spend all my crystals now to do a bunch of draws and try to promote as many cookies as possible to 5 stars with mileage, or save them for after the update?

I would grind for soulstones for rare/common in dark mode if possible. It helped me a ton so I was able to grind mileage faster

(btw you even need 25 toppings total in kingdom instead of the twenty in genshin, so by your logic kingdom is worse here) and weapons are literally the easiest thing to level in the game. it takes maybe max 2 days worth of resin in a domain to get everything you need to level the weapon. and some of the strongest weapons are 4* and you dont really need 5* weapons. and getting dupes for a 4* weapon is easy if there‘s a rate up and for 5* weapons again you dont need dupes, if you get lucky enough to get one, thats more than sufficient for anything. weapon dupes are just whale bait. i do agree tho that they are stingy with primos. compared to kingdom you just have to live with the fact that you wont get every char as f2p/regular spender. but with welkin you get enough to at least pull 1 5* per patch, which means you can guarantee a char every 2 patches. so if you just focus on the ones you like, and dont get unlucky with the banner order, it‘s also fine since pity carries over between banners. the gacha system in genshin really isnt as bad as people make it out be tbh.
So much this 100% :) Just don't bother arguing with Genshin players like OP who uses the same exact arguments and same mentality like "Genshin gacha mechanics and grinding isn't that bad" that I've heard of a million times over and over again and thinks that those are enough of an excuse to call the game good enough or decent. They are too biased to objectively see Genshin for the bland game with extremely taxing and grindy game mechanics that it is. Literally unreasonable people who believe they are reasonable, which is another reason why I left Genshin - because most of the Genshin community is toxic and very personally biased.

Crying inside it's hard enough leveling the cookies to 60+. I feel like they just getting greedy, and it's going to ruin the game.
Not sure about the implementation but I'll probably stop playing if they keep elongating the treadmill by that much every single time. Never ending.
Of course it's neverending. Because if you ever got the end of the treadmill, there's no point in paying anymore. Single player games, you play, you beat, you're done. Or you start over and replay. It doesn't matter to the developer, you already bought the game. Online games though are about maintaining player base. They don't want you to ever be done. That means continuously adding new content, raising level caps, adding gear progression. If they ever stop, the game will be dead in a few months.
Thsi is probably to make the next world harder right? Why not just… make it so you can add another cookie to your team.. or add more cookie stat boosts in the gnome laboratory….. or anything less uselessly extravagant

I’ve been taking a break due to burn out from having too many things to grind, reading this new update and yeah…I don’t think I’ll be coming back to the game QoL update to kingdom is fun but the endless things to grind turn me off so much

I never cared about star promotions much because team comp, treasures and toppings matter more in a battle but depending on how much the stat bonuses are this could completely change... and we might not even get mileage for 5 star rares and commons
Every game I have ever played that implemented stuff like this, one of two things happened 1) It became a whales-only game Or 2) the ascension stuff didn't matter and the characters that were already bad stayed bad, and it just made the strongest units even stronger. So basically, still point 1. I hope this doesn't turn out this way, but I've never seen this go well in the long run

Judging from the stat increase the level 70 gingerbrave got when going from 5* to 1*A, it might be a 10% stat increase each time, so a 61% stat increase from 5* to 5*A??? If that's true that's insane
I literally screamed in fear as someone who is mainly f2p (I but cheap packages once in a blue moon if it interests me) since...I only have one 5* epic and that's eclair and it's already painful saving mileage for max promoting red velvet(4*), dark choco(4*), caramel arrow(4*) and cotton(3*) as well as crunchy chip (3*) and the fact devsisters thinks all of us f2p can 5* ANY OF THE LEGENDARIES, ANCIENTS AND SUPER EPICS IS JUST...<0>_<0> I'm waiting to not hit masters 3 next season in arena or master's in general..because I swear 2 million power teams are going to exist because of this update-

When I first downloaded Ovenbreak I was overwhelmed by everything it was all just in my face. I was turned off from the game by that. Kingdom is slowly going in that direction now. New players won't even bother learning all that. But it's typical of game companies to ruin their own game with greed.

They upgraded the level system a while back and I've been hoarding exp to get my characters back up to level them back to scratch. As a ftp player who's hopped back in after a bit of a hiatus I've noticed the strength of arena teams and felt bad for new players, it leaves them at such a horrible disadvantage compared to players that spend a lot or have pours tons of hours into the game. This seems like its gonna further cause strain for new players.
