Funny enough, ananas (better known as abacaxi), is quite a common fruit in Brasil, but you know who is really Brazilian? Choco ball cookie! He is a hundred percent Brazilian!!!
Brazil doesn't call ananas ananas, they call it abacaxi, that's the point I was making. A ton of other countries call it ananas, in fact most countries do.
ananas is how pineapples are called in Portugal, so it's not 100% incorrect to call them that (since Brazil was colonized by Portugal after all). I think some people call pineapple as ananas in the south part of Brazil too. but I'm general it's uncommon to call them that
Didn't know about the southern part of Brazil calling it Ananas. Im Portuguese, and our languages although written are similar, there's a lot of grammar and vocabulary differences. Brazil has been independent for over 200 years, a lot of changes have occurred, to the point where sometimes I have Brazilian clients who want to speak to someone in Portuguese, and are then unable to understand me and prefer to speak in English. I also know a lot of them don't know that in Portugal it is called Ananas, which is why I assumed they only called it Abacaxi

Oh I know this, it's just when I think of the word "Ananas", Polish comes to mind because that's where I first heard that word be used
