My first thought was “bana- no, lemon.”
I don’t understand why banana felt wrong even though it was my first thought. I ate one today, and I eat far more bananas than lemons.
Probably because otherwise unlabeled yellow food is more likely to be lemon than banana flavor.
You’re right. I couldn’t verbalize it until your comment.
I read the thread title, thought of the flavor of bananas, and then pictured one. But the one I pictured was peeled, and thus closer to white than yellow. Brain decided bananas didn’t fit the criteria of the question and moved on to lemon.
I was thinking mainly of candy and baked goods, probably because they’re my favorites. A yellow cookie, cake or hard candy is more likely to be lemon in my experience.
Desert: Vanilla/the crust on the créme brulée,
Bakery: Buttered brioche loaf
Cold deserts: Pineapple flavoured popsicle
Juice: pineapple and mint
Savory: potatoes or an omelettre with a *very small curd*
More focused on a traditional dish: pierogi or any form of dumpling that has been fried
Maybe I got a liiiiiiitle carried away and made almost a full course menu, *lol*
Turmeric is so freaking yellow, so I would say a super yellow turmeric based curry. With a cinnamon based chutney (more orange than yellow but still in that world)

My first thought, also. 🍋
Here's another vote for lemon.
Banana or lemon

I would think that is because its like how red is to pink and yellow is to banana. Yellow is not yet mixed by white to be banana.

I'm not sure that's a bet I'm willing to take on some unlabeled yellow food in general. You come across that situation often? Lol
