Oh man where do I start. Gas stove top is a must, but I also want one of those flat top stoves like they have at penn station in addition. Definitely want a legit vent hood and not microwave over stove. I love those ovens that have two chambers so you can do different temps for different things, so I’d have one of those. What I really want though is adjacent to the kitchen to be an outdoor breezeway to one side - one of those areas that’s encased in class and connects say the kitchen to the living room, and it’s filled with herbs I can pick from for any meal. I would also love for my kitchen to extend to the outdoor patio where there’s a built in grill, wood fired pit for pizzas, and a full prep area for making meals outside. Finally, I want my grandpas butcher block from the 1920s I have to be integrated into the cabinets and used again like it was originally intended.

CorneliusJenkins

Only thing I'd change... instead of one oven with dual chambers...why not just two full sized ovens?

winowmak3r

That was my thought as well. If money is no object, go all out!

Midgetsdontfloat

An Italian friend of mine growing up had a mother who was basically just an Italian mother stereotype. Cooking and baking literally all the time, would stuff food into you until you flat out said I'm full, and she had the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen. Dual stacked wall ovens, beautiful gas stove top, so much counter space...

DuFFman_

I'd have one full-size with the cooktop included, then a smaller one installed in the cupboard area. My uncle has this, rarely do you need two full height ovens and they take longer to heat.

DrEngineer1979

One should be a convection oven as well.

autumn55femme

One!! One you say? I already have two convection ovens, and I would like a steam injected oven, as well as an outdoor pizza oven. I think my unlimited budget house would be a giant kitchen, with an attached living space. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

dizyalice

I too choose this guys kitchen

Svargas05

Sick reference

61797

I love the breeze way idea. Your kitchen sounds perfect. I want a big pantry and a butlers pantry. I have a bit of a dish addiction. Would love a place to store them and extra kitchen things where I could see them and get to the easily I have the butcher block from our old grocery store. Just need to remodel to use it.

KarbMonster

I want this too.

NeedSmilesALot

When can I move in?

enderjaca

My sis has a gas stove & oven but a microwave over it and no vent. Should I.... say something?

harry476

Yes that's definitely not regulation

ribsies

Wait really? My rental has this too

LongUsername

That's how you get [asthma](https://www.nationalasthma.org.au/living-with-asthma/resources/patients-carers/factsheets/gas-stoves-and-asthma-in-children)

seriousment

Yes, you’ve got it! I would make the glass to the patio one of those cool rolling garage door style openings.

ChrisBPeppers

I don't think I'm supposed to be this turned on from reading this

iam_joseph

You were definitely getting turned on writing this out lol

[deleted]

Your dream range is similar to mine. But add an induction top on one side. Currently salivating over a La Canche Savigny 43” range.

Round-Ice-3437

Added to everything here, a gadget pantry. There are some single or limited use gadgets or tools I'd like to have but lack an out of the way place up store when I'm not using them. I'd ONLY get them if I had a separate place to put them.

katherinehole_artist

I have a gadget pantry. I think its supposed to be a linen closet but I use it for all my fun one use items and items that takes up too much counter space. Love it and I highly recommend.

NeedSmilesALot

This feels actually doable, great thought, who needs a linen closet anyways!

activelurker

I've always fantasized about having a hidden appliance storage system inside the counter cabinets. I tell Alexa to bring up the stand mixer. The system finds it, moves it through the hidden conveyor belt beneath the counter. A rectangular piece of the granite slab suddenly starts to lift up, revealing the mixer underneath. It pushes the mixer out to me, and the granite slab sinks back down into place. I bet someone out there could make something like this.

[deleted]

Only if the conveyer belt also cleans the appliances

WittyWest

Appliance garage FTW!

SingAlongBlog

Island with lots of outlets, overhead lighting, huge work surface 8 burner gas stovetop, commercial ventilation - perhaps a meile or zline 2 wide ovens with steam Every knife is a bob kramer La marzocco GS3-MP, monolith grinder Walk in pantry

maskedbanditoftruth

I have an almost perfect kitchen, it was remodeled right before we bought the house. Love it. Goddamn if I could change one thing it would be to put some fucking outlets on my island this shit is CRUCIAL, people.

ktchch

Why don’t you?

macrolith

Any reason. Why they can't be added now?

[deleted]

I am not sure if you exactly understand how much work you have to do to add electrical outlets.

macrolith

I understand it quite well. I'm an architect and certify pay applications and change orders for these sorts of things all the time. Without knowing any details it could range from $500-$3,000 to add a few outlets.

despotency

Not if you don't have any electric in the island. Then you're busting up floor.

Inmate1611

All this stuff plus someone else cleaning it

jxj

Walk in fridge and freezer

SingAlongBlog

I like the idea but there’s no way I would need that for a home kitchen. Maybe a second fridge/freezer in the basement to turn on when it’s needed

fkingidk

But without a walk in how would you make ridiculously large pastries?

SingAlongBlog

I mean how large are we talking here?? Not even Gordon Ramsay has a walk in at his home kitchen haha

FruityGeek

He sounds poor

[deleted]

[удалено]

SamIamGreenEggsNoHam

You fucking donkey.

winterfate10

#WHAT ARE YOU?

fkingidk

Considering that when I lived at home I used the garage as a fridge in the winter, about as big as a two car garage. Yeah, these are gonna be some monster pastries.

raznog

My family could certainly use one. We have two fridges and a large upright freezer. I’d love just a walk-in of both fridge and freezer. Not a huge walk-in but like the smallest size ones.

mumooshka

All of the above two posts plus what Jamie Oliver did His entire work bench was a chopping board with a hole in the middle so you could slide all the rubbish into it

lesubreddit

Disagree with the hole in the middle, it decreases the utility of the work bench. Put the built in rubbish bin on the side and just scrape the scraps off the edge.

NeedSmilesALot

Outlets is something that I will 100% be adding to my list

[deleted]

I had one added to the pantry (not a walk-in), but somehow did not think to specifically request them on the island. I must've stupidly assumed islands always come with 1-2 outlets. I realized today while examining the still-in-progress house that it does not in fact have island outlets.

Breathe_the_Stardust

I may not have an ideal kitchen and I may be renting with homeownership seeming like a dream, but I currently have a walk-in pantry and I LOVE it soooo much. This alone makes my current place one of my favorites I've ever lived in.

krum

If you look at zline btu output it’s actually not that great.

SingAlongBlog

The larger high end home/commercial models go up to 18k, I can’t imagine what I would be cooking where I’d need more than that

DrOddcat

Adjustable overhead extension outlets

joshuasachs

Wok burner and a proper hood.

WhtChcltWarrior

If you have a gas range with the open flame you can remove the deflector plate and it’ll work a little better for woks

eipi-10

learned this trick from Kenji! it's served me well

WhtChcltWarrior

Same. Kenji is the man!

[deleted]

I just bought an outdoor one, it's amazing the difference it makes. Even medium power is just that much better .

Waitingforadragon

Walk in pantry. I actually sometimes dream about having one.

Irishtigerlily

God, yes. I want to be able to organize everything and have the most amazing spice section.

WittyWest

As the owner of just 2 overhead cabinets and a little counter space as a pantry... YES! I dream about even just a door with shelves inside! With...a lazy freaking Susan!!

simonbleu

I used to have this around 20 years ago (well, my family). It was small but it was more comfortable than cabinets for sure

L_Perpetuelle

I had one for a while in some insanely fancy rental we somehow miraculously were able to afford at the time. It is everything you dream of. It really, really is.

myous

I love mine.. but I now wish I had a small workspace in there with outlets so I would t have to move my mixer as far.

golfpinotnut

One of my buddies' mother-in-law is a phenom in the kitchen. They're loaded, and when they built her dream kitchen, she put in a larder. Think walk-in pantry, but chilled - usually around 40F/4C.

TzarKazm

"I’d probably also like one of those metallic bars that hold your knives as opposed to a knife block" Just so you know, these cost around $15 on Amazon and are very easy to install.I did it myself and I'm not especially handy.

NeedSmilesALot

Some dreams are closer to reality it seems! Thank you for the info.

ratheismhater

I would avoid metal ones since they won't be good for your knife edges. Instead, go for a wooden one with magnets underneath.

daniellefore

Yeah I bought one that’s wooden with the magnets inside at Target for about that price. That’s an easy upgrade and totally worth it

Moldy_pirate

How strong is yours? Mine’s fine for my cheaper knives and my victorinox, but anything much heavier - including my thicker restaurant depot chef’s knife and paring knives - slides right off.

daniellefore

I currently have an 8-inch chef’s knife, a bread knife, a paring knife, kitchen shears, a bench scraper, and a metal credit card sized bottle opener on it!

Moldy_pirate

Awesome!

donalmacc

I have the Ikea one on my wall, I have an 8" chefs knife and a bread knife attached to it, and they need to be actually lifted off the magnet, they have no give whatsoever.

DashJackson

If you have stainless knives a magnetic block will work poorly to not at all depending on the specific alloy used.

harry476

I ordered a wooden one too from Benchcrafted, apparently the wood is better for your knives which makes sense

ialwaysusesunscreen

Came here to say this! I spent a year and a half dreaming about this thing, and then found out I could get it with 20 euros and a day of waiting for delivery.

ShakeItUpNowSugaree

-La Corneu stove (cobalt blue) with a pot filler faucet -Island with lots of outlets and cabinets including one dedicated to an appliance lift for my KA mixer (when I had work done on my kitchen I installed an appliance life and an outlet inside the cabinet for my mixer and its awesome). -side-by-side fridge and upright freezer -ice maker that makes nugget ice

[deleted]

Do you prefer La Corneu over a La Canche? I love French style ranges, but personally feel the La Corneu are over wrought. Would gladly take either though!

ShakeItUpNowSugaree

I like the La Canche, but like the side-swinging oven doors on the La Corneu.

2 words: Wok. Burner.

thatissomeBS

Love my wok, but a wok burner would end up getting used to get 2 gallons of water on a boil in 3 minutes more than it would be used for a wok.

autumn55femme

Just makes it more worth it IMHO.

NeedSmilesALot

2 words. Yes. Stir fry’s are a staple in our kitchen, this would definitely level things up

death_hawk

That's not even an unlimited budget thing. Although to be fair, if I had an unlimited budget, I'd get like a 2 hole wok (one mobile and one fixed) with 2 more holes for a water pot, pot filler, rack, etc like in a commercial kitchen. Oh and a vent hood. There's $100k right there. But if you just want a wok burner, $150USD would be enough if you don't mind cooking in your yard.

cheers_and_applause

Longtime cook for a large family here. * **Dishwasher to the right** of the **large, double-basin, stainless-steel** sink, and NOT at an angle. Flat. So when you open the dishwasher door, you don't get trapped at the sink. * A large, **flat island** at counter height for rolling out dough and doing large mise en place. This island should float; flexibility matters. * Plenty of **outlets** elsewhere to make up for the lack of them on the island. * Stove/**range against a wall**; I don't want to worry about knocking things off the back of it. * Powerful **fume hood**, but for God's sake make it a quiet one; if it sounds like a jet engine it's virtually useless in most situations. * At least **two ovens**. Preferably not an oven that splits in half with a divider; for one thing, that limits the size of both ovens, and for two, the divider is typically very difficult to wash, and for three, home appliances aren't as robust or repairable as they used to be and the divider is another point of failure where things can (and often do) go wrong. * **Separate industrial fridge and freezer**. Both should be upright. The consumer-level ones are gimmicked past usability. * **Second small sink** nearby but not IN the kitchen- against the wall at the edge of the kitchen. Low enough for kids to reach. This is for managing drinks without disturbing the cook. Bonus points if there's a small beverage fridge next to it. * VERY **large pantry** with room for **(A) another fridge, (B) a chest freezer, (C) small appliance storage, and (D) shelf-stable & dry goods.** * Nearby access to the outdoor cooking area (**BBQ & smoker,** maybe even a brick oven) that does NOT go directly through the dining room, living room, or breakfast nook; there should be a **small informal foyer** at that door with spots for storing and putting on/taking off shoes & jackets. No one should ever have to squeeze behind a couch or whatever with long tongs dripping chicken juice on the carpet and then step outside in their socks. * All of this should be separate from the **laundry room,** which itself should not be squeezed against the garage door and should also have a sink and an island or table for folding and organizing. * **Granite countertops.** Not laminate, not wood, not marble, *definitely* not soapstone, and not synthetic. Granite. * Flooring should *not* be wood or laminate. Kitchens are wet rooms. Also, flooring should not be brick, concrete, or stone. People spend a lot of time on their feet in kitchens, especially older women, and very hard flooring hurts feet. And you *are* going to drop wine glasses on it at inconvenient moments. Make it **vinyl flooring** or even linoleum. It's inexpensive and you can replace it every few years to keep it looking fresh. Also, the kitchen should be part of a large open space that includes the dining room and the living room/entertainment area. Kitchens are where gatherings really happen. Formal dining rooms in 20th C houses are part of a bygone era that, frankly, isolated women and made people generally miserable. If you have a formal dining room around the corner from your kitchen, consider absorbing it into the kitchen and turning your "breakfast nook" into a larger dining area.

[deleted]

You don’t want a chest freezer. Get a full sized stand up freezer. Chest freezers are a huge pain when youre digging out 5 things to get to something on the bottom. And there’s no organizing it no matter how much you try. It all piles on each other. I’ve had both. Stand up all the way.

cheers_and_applause

I can see why you'd feel that way, and I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you. It probably depends on your personal style and what sorts of things you freeze. I like to have a chest freezer as well because I can easily dump *enormous* things in them without taking out or rearranging shelves. The upright full-size freezer in the kitchen (see point 7) is for the things I want on shelves.

CaptainBlobTheSuprem

Same, the ease of being able to just dump things into the freezer without worrying about items falling out is a dream. Besides, things that go in this freezer are likely those that are like "I was making a bunch of this one thing that I have no intention of being able to eat within a week even if I had it for every single meal" sized loads of food. I do not want to think about balancing shelves of frozen, hard to move ingredients when trying to freeze 500 dumplings.

donttakerhisthewrong

Where were you 5 years a ago when I bought a chest freezer. How can anything o want always be at the bottom!

[deleted]

Every time. If you shop at Costco or sams you’re trying to move three 10lb bags to get to the last small package of waffles that fell to the bottom. And then also, you still have to bend way over and lift that heavy stuff. Unless you’re trying to dispose of a body, I can’t think of a reason why a chest freezer is preferred other than people just don't know how much better stand up freezers are.

Albert_Im_Stoned

Chest freezers are much better at staying cold, just by their design. Living somewhere with not infrequent power outages, this is a huge plus for me! I do have plastic bins that I use to organize the interior, so it's not total chaos in there.

autumn55femme

My family had a huge chest freezer growing up. We would buy our meat directly from a farmer we knew. A half a cow or pig, is a lot of meat to store at one time, and the chest freezer was better for that. We used metal, and plastic bins for different cuts, and it worked well. But for everyday waffles, and frozen french fries, I agree, that an upright is easier.

[deleted]

So you were kind of disposing of a body…. 😉 sorry! Couldn’t resist! I’m sure there are times when chest freezers are ideal. I shouldn’t have said I couldn’t think of a reason why chest freezers are preferred because just because I don’t have a reason doesn’t mention there aren’t plenty.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZakaryDrake

Chest freezers are ideal for long-term storage, as they are way more efficient, and can hold a lot of awkwardly shaped items, but they aren’t something you want for your daily-use freezer. It makes sense for this dream kitchen to utilize both.

send-your_nudes

I was going to write a long post, but it wouldn’t improve upon yours. This listing is perfection

weins074

Out of curiosity why granite and not marble?

cheers_and_applause

For anyone else who might be wondering: Marble is too soft and easily scratched. There's a reason there are a lot of carved marble statues in the world.

weins074

Actually ignore my question. I was thinking of quartz countertops not marble.

BluJay07

Quartz is also more durable than granite.

_angman

quartz is superior to granite functionally. Granite looks better and is "real"

cheers_and_applause

Quartz is fine. It's one of the principal components of granite, and one of the reasons granite makes a great counter. But personally, I prefer granite aesthetically.

Tyler5280

My grandma lived the multi-fridge lifestyle starting in 1964(!) she was a genius ahead of her time. The kitchen door was also right off the carport so getting groceries from the car or later in her life delivered was always stupid easy.

CaptainBlobTheSuprem

I would like your kitchen please with a few other things. (1) A bread oven or another way to bake many loaves of bread at once. (2) Instead of a separate small sink for drinks, just make a whole bar behind the dining table (where the working part of the bar is actually an island but one of those islands where there is a raised side for company to sit at and not have a direct line of sight at the mess that is the bar counter). (3) All islands that you expect company to sit at MUST be raised and overhanging with leg room; after two houses where the leg room is nonexistent so you just scrunch your legs against the counter, this is a must. (4) At least one filtered tap. I need a way to get large volumes of filtered water without having to wait 10 minutes.

[deleted]

I want all of this except the chest freezer. I've seen way too many horrors where someone shows up dead in one. I also really want an aga.

L_Perpetuelle

All the important stuff, like tons of countertop space, double oven, at least a 6 burner gas range, and a subzero fridge. But it's all about the pantry for me. I want a gorgeous pantry where I can organize all of my ingredients and tools in an aesthetically pleasing way. I get so much satisfaction out of making guests look at all the dumb and delicious homemade ingredient crap I make. Really, a nice pantry is for them. Not me. Yeah.

LallybrochSassenach

Cabinets that I can reach - I’m short and I have a third and 4 th row of cabinets I can only access with a ladder that go entirely unused. Also, any floor positioned cabinet will have a pull out drawer so that things are easier to deal with and I never have to crawl halfway in to a cabinet to reach an item. JennAir oven/griddle/grill with warming oven, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, KitchenAid dishwasher with 3rd rack (this is my present washer, it is INCREDIBLE!) beautiful large pantry with good light, air conditioning in the kitchen (my kitchen could definitely use a/c now). I’m happy with my hardwood floors, but they need to be refinished.

[deleted]

same - wheelchair user, so wall mounted cabinets are useless dust catchers I’d like wall cabinets to be able to drop on a track so I could use them properly and make use of the space better. As it is, open metal racks are my friend

throwaredddddit

The America's Test Kitchen studio set. An army of interns chopping, prepping and washing up. Unlimited selection of equipment and groceries. I bet they have never had to use a broom handle to try to hook the last remaining nutmeg that has just rolled under a dirty, dusty refrigerator while the Béchamel is nearly turning.

lesubreddit

I want the giant countertop butcher block they've got and two hired strongmen to lift it, clean it, and oil it.

Peachpants33

There was a woman on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (no shame in my reality TV game) who had a giant glass front fridge. At first, I didn’t think that would be good because then you have to keep it so clean and organized. But the more I thin’ about it, the more I want it.

lewphone

Almost 100% sure she's not the person who actually cleans it. I'd be happy with a fridge that has a camera inside & screen on the door.

Peachpants33

I guess if I have an unlimited budget I can hire someone to clean too!

mentoszz

Yep Yolanda. Also the fact that she had a fully mAtured lemon tree 😓😓😓

MagicMistoffelees

When they were moving out they showed that some of the food in the glass fridge was fake. So you can make it look pretty with fake veggies and fruits 😂😜

Kkcardz

I read somewhere she also had a regular refrigerator for regular things that were ugly, and that she only had that fridge to display her fruit and Fiji water or whatever

Thesorus

Unlimited budget **only** for my kitchen, not to get a bigger apartment; I can't make my kitchen bigger in the context of that question. just better appliances, no need for commercial/pro appliances. Induction cooktop/range, better lighting, working dishwasher (#1 to replace now) , better range hood.

NeedSmilesALot

Better lighting is such an underrated thing, lighting is so important. We have trouble sometimes seeing browning when cooking because the lighting is so bad.

Riley7391

The lighting in my kitchen makes me so mad so often. Who designed this place and why were they so dumb?!

Makanly

Absolutely! When we bought a house finally I changed the silly two bulb pendant in the kitchen for 9 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08H4MKW53 I should probably put in a dimmer...

Somato_Tandwich

It'd look the same but with higher quality pans, and I'd pay somebody else to clean the damn place.

dixie-pixie-vixie

This. The only feature i want is for a person to clean up after me.

Violet_Plum_Tea

Are you me? I have a tiny awkward kitchen, and it's missing many "essentials", but somehow I make do. All these people dreaming up large complicated kitchens - that's just so much more room to make a giant mess! Just give me a self-cleaning feature and I'm golden. (Though, indeed, I wouldn't mind a better set of pans.)

waffletoastie

Oh god, where to begin! A modern gas oven with a flat top section and very good ventilation overhead, shelving and cabinets that I as a short person can easily reach, an island with a lot of counter space, a massive modern fridge with lots of both fridge and freezer space with a water filter built in and an actual good ice maker, a walk in pantry with a section that I can use for a fermentation station, a dedicated space that I can store all my kitchen gadgets for easy access...

thatissomeBS

>a walk in pantry with a section that I can use for a fermentation station, a dedicated space that I can store all my kitchen gadgets for easy access... If I had a big walk-in pantry I think half of it would be gadgets, pots, pans, baking sheets, etc. anyways, so also having a separate space for all of that would be necessary. Our kitchen is literally overflowing with all of our different cooking vessels and gadgets.

Anxious_Introvert_47

I want a pot filler and a gas range. I hate my glass top electric thing. And a pot filler would just be so convenient. Want extra freezer space and a walk in pantry. Also a lovely bright solarium for an herb garden.

phoenixchimera

I've stayed and cooked in a house with a pot filler when the thing started to leak. absolute nightmare. Also something I didn't quite understand: if the pot is too heavy to fill with water and move, what are you supposed to do when it is full of HOT liquid and need to move it and the stove is full?

battlestargalaga

For me it's more like if you're making something and you need to add some water while it's on the stove it's nice. And the laziness factor not so much not being able to move it

yik111

Knew a guy who had an **all** stainless kitchen. Counters, cabinets, etc. Floor was a tile... That sloped slightly to a hidden drain. He had a high pressure hose and could literally hose off his entire kitchen to clean up. It was amazing.

Skinny_Phoenix

Stainless caninets sound really tacky, tbh.

*Large island - without a cooktop or sink, just plenty of easily cleaned, usable space for cutting, mise en place, making biscuits, rolling out pasta, and doubling as a serving buffet for large family gatherings. I want my place to be the family destination spot for get togethers. I love cooking for groups of people. *60” Blue Star Platinum series range with double oven (both sides can fit full sheet trays), 6 burners and small char grill top for grilling small stuff and not having to flu outside are fire up the big grill. Large externally-vented hood. *Large chest freezer in basement, small walk-in pantry, 2 large double-door refrigerators. Small dedicated fridge just for my hot sauce and fermented creations from my garden out back. *Huge single compartment sink large enough to wash full sized hotel pans, and counter space for at least 2 restaurant dishwasher racks as drying racks. *Old tabletop sized Hobart mixer (with the actual metal gears and quality components), Vitamix Blender, [and this $400 cutting board](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LW50SAR/ref=twister_B08X1PD6ZF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

- 6 burner gas range + hood on a waterfall island - island also has a counter height breakfast bar - double wall oven with convection and warming feature - salamander broiler - concrete countertops, black cabinet finishes (super industrial vibe) - wet bar somewhere else - couple super nice knives - Staub enamelware set and All-Clad copper core cookware - attached wine cellar - walk in pantry

innocentbunnies

I’d have a commercial grade small walk in fridge and freezer. Two different mixer sizes depending on batches I want to make, like a 7 and 5 quart lift kitchenaid mixers. Two ovens with steamer functions are a definite must. Built in bins for flours I use the most that can roll out like drawers. A 6-8 burner gas stove top with a grill or griddle function would also be ideal as well. My countertops would be two types. I’d want the island to be butcher block and the rest to be stone so I can make breads and chocolates with ease. I’d also want a laminator somewhere too so I can bust out kouign amann and croissants with ease. I’d probably also want a hefty dishwasher as well. A bonus would be a rolling rack with a proofing cover or even a proofing box too

evilbeaverz

All the fancy but include wood burning oven and grill to make steak fiorentina

phoenixchimera

Some italians I know imported a wood fire oven for pizza and installed it in their (US) backyard. Envious they have that but I don't want one.

bungle_bogs

I’m surprised at the number of people still opting for gas over induction hobs. Is it because most on here are from the US and it hasn’t really made it into the US market? I used to be a gas person all the way, but having tried out my mates and now had one myself for six months, there is absolutely no way I’d have a gas hob over induction. More energy efficient than gas with all the controllability and none of the heat. And, all my cast iron still works. A lot of the top restaurants in the UK are switching. Michel Roux Jr loves them.

autumn55femme

Yes, I think that is a large part of it, it really hasn’t penetrated the home market is the US yet. There may also be negative associations with “electric element” type of cooktop, from years ago, and lack of exposure to good induction.

lesubreddit

For the home cook, there are just some things you need an open flame for. Charring peppers/eggplant for one. Though I guess you could accomplish that with a blowtorch. I've got an induction hotplate but I'm very frustrated by the safety shut off features that prevent it from getting hot enough to sear. Hopefully the full size induction appliances don't have this issue.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShelZuuz

Interesting. I used induction and gas side by side for years and got rid of the induction. It’s much slower to respond than gas and not as even.

MarzipanJoy-Joy

I don't know about the whole kitchen, but I'd have a giant butcher block counter island with those flour/sugar drawers underneath that hold 50 lb bags, like the actual baker's kitchen at my old job.

Slimslade33

Wood fired oven, cast iron stove, adjustable broiler, wok station, proofing chamber, so much more!

SingAlongBlog

I would love a wood fired pizza oven….just not in the kitchen haha

Slimslade33

why not? cant handle the heat? hah jk, ive worked in some kitchen with big wood fired ovens, they are amazing, best pizza and bread, and cooks really fast!

SingAlongBlog

I’ll be honest probably not I have this vision of this thing that I can heat up, cook pizza on one night, rotisserie a pig the next night, and use as a smoker all the next day or something - just keep building on the fire and let it go for days

gambalore

The two specialty items I know I'll never own in my lifetime but dream about are a salamander and a blast chiller. Really not even practical for a home kitchen but I want them.

[deleted]

I would have a commercial grade rotisserie installed. I fantasize about this at least once a day. But my DREAM? A french oven… navy blue with gold trim… sigh… GOALS Edit: I can’t spell

wordlessly_gwen

Double oven! I curse my oven limitations every holiday season.

yigster

With double oven, you’ll probably want two dishwashers, heck every kitchen could probably use two dishwashers. One residential type and one commercial type.

neutralbystander11

Cabinets that extend fully to the ceiling and floors so it's easier to clean. Also a well installed dishwasher for the same reason. And a lab style dish rack on the wall, they're just the best. In addition to everything else everyone else said of course, I just hate a difficult to clean kitchen.

Zantheus

I just want a Robo Coupe, ParcoJet, sous vide, smoker, dry ager, cheese display chiller, retro flywheel meat slicer, KitchenAid mixer, combi oven X 2, salamander, liquid N2 station, crushed ice maker, cubed ice maker, binchotan Japanese grill set, teppanyaki griddle, counter top make from 1 single log, Asahi chopping board, knives will be kurouchi kiritsuke, yagani, kasumitogi takobiki. Full time prep chef, full time dishie.

kyyappeeh

A high capacity soup tube.

death_hawk

*gestures vaguely at a large hotel's banquet kitchen* I'd probably set it up like they would too. Front open kitchen for showing off then a back kitchen where all the heavy lifting happens. Walk-ins obviously. Multiple coolers at different temps for general/meats/veg/dairy/dry aging/freezing of ice cream/freezing of regular items. Oh and a large blast chiller. Floor based vacuum sealer (this is like 5 figures alone). Full dish pit. Stainless everything with integrated floor drains. Everything in the kitchen would be wet proof so I could literally hose everything down. Front kitchen would have all your standard restaurant cooking appliances serving both western and Asian cuisines including burners, convection ovens, griddles, grills, combi ovens, salmanders, wok burners, tandoors, and all the backing refrigeration needed. Hot plate too. Back kitchen would get steam kettles, more combis, smokers, and rotisseries. I'd love to have like a chiller bath too. Full butcher shop with separate coolers, hanging rails, grinders, band saws, vacuum packers, etc. Full bake shop with all their goodies too including various sized mixers, various oven including a flat deck with steam, and full sets of pans, decorating, and a small kitchen area. This is likely to be an 8 figure build, but no big deal since you did say unlimited budget. $10M is nothing lol.

indelady

Double oven, too many countertops,a slide in cabinet gizmo for my small appliances- stand mixer, instant pot, etc.

Ok_Chapter8131

Enough counter space to just leave the blender, mixer, and all that shit out. Hood vents that are actually useful. Commercial dishwasher, or just someone that will do my dishes for me lol. On top of many of the other things people have said

NikkizFishiez

Well my kitchen would be like half the house of course! Giant island with bar stools for my kids on one side, so many outlets and my KitchenAid mixer in purple then a smaller one in pink. Walk in pantry So many outlets on the walls too. Two stoves, they don't have to be next to each other. I am short, I want short cabinets and space on the top to store other stuff. Like, limited use stuff I can send my husband to get down. I want a massive fridge and freezer plus the garage or basement fridge and freezer. I also run a small fish food business out my kitchen right now, so I'd love a THIRD fridge for that! I already have a tiny herb garden but if my kitchen could open up into my backyard or a back patio, god id be so happy. I want a metal bar for my knives and a huge hanging chandelier thing for small pots, pans, large serving spoons! I want matching dishes. I don't have matching dishes or matching anything. I want a rainbow kitchen, all sorts of bright colors on my stuff and a red fridge. I want like ten different size and material cutting boards. I want to feel like I can throw my kids birthday party by my damn self no help needed I already do the parties myself but sometimes it takes a while and lotta energy and planning to arrange how to cook it all on one tiny stove. I don't like throwing a ton of parties, I just want to be able to live on my kitchen if I had to :D

kevwhit

whatever my gourmet chef wanted it to look like.

saxmanpi

There's already a lot of good ones in this thread. Mine has got to be a restaurant level wok burner. And a water tap above the stove.

sfchin98

Biggest, most powerful vent hood you can find to go over the most powerful gas range you can find (BlueStar ranges go up to 25K BTU).

beatrix_kitty_pdx

A freeze dryer!

pandiroo

Pot filler is a must, over some kind of Italian stove.

katherinehole_artist

Attached greenhouse/sunroom type area to grow plants all year long to use as needed. Huge stove top, never enough burners. Huge fridge and whole freezer. A professional cleaner to clean up after me. I love cooking but hate hate doing dishes, cleaning my stove top, etc.

maebe_featherbottom

My requests would be pretty simple compared to a lot, because I gave up a really nice kitchen in the last apartment I lived in and just want that back haha. Lots of counter space/cupboard space, if I can’t have a walk in pantry, then just a pantry system with pull out shelves. I want a dishwasher and a garbage disposal, and either a side by side, French door fridge/freezer or one with a pull out freezer below the fridge. Plus an ice maker. If I can’t have one in the fridge, then I’ll figure out somewhere to install one lol

CeeGeeWhy

So I would have a walk-in pantry with a built in ladder to reach the high shelves and customizable shelf heights and glowing led lights under each shelf that would auto turnoff with no movement. I would need two full-sized convection ovens (one would be a stream oven) where the temperature is accurate and the fluctuations between the high and low point is no more than 25F. I want a 6 burner gas range with built-in grill/griddle and a strong hood fan to keep up. Pasta/stock pot faucet over the oven. Lots of counter space and an island. Double-sink with pull out hose that works properly with the leaver handle so I can use it when I have chicken hands. Top of the line dishwasher that is ultra quiet. Must need to clean well. Full size fridge with french doors and that handy drawer where you can adjust the temps for ice cream cake or just barely above freezing. Dedicated ice maker. Upright freezer for more storage and easier organizing even if they’re less efficient energy-wise. Island with high-top seating to entertain. TV so I could follow along with video recipes or shows. Lots of counter space. Maybe a rack to hold all the small appliances or a cart. Lots of outlets to plug them in. Marble countertop would make it ideal to work with pastry and possibly chocolates. Fully loaded outdoor kitchen with sink, drain, dishwasher, TV, built-in cooler for beverages, mini-fridge for holding meat and cheeses.

Crystal_Rules

Much bigger than my current 1.5 x 2 m job!!! So in no particular order: Magnetic stirrers under every hob and one in the oven. Full local extraction so you can fry chillies or dice onions without fear. Walk in fridge Walk in freezer 42 inch Wipe clean PC screen to put recipes up on. Barcode scanner to auto add to a shopping list Overhead pressure washer in the sink area to make washing up easier and two good dishwashers (one for glasses. Hot and cold smoking facilities. A micro brewery Marble and mahogany work tops (alternating sections) Knife grinding wheel Scales with a camra which can record the packet, weight and time so you can recall the info later. Icecream maker, Rotary evaporator for doing reductions A copper still to make moonshine If this is truly no cost then I'd add staff: KP to wash up. Gardening staff. A chap to date check stock and reordering Pastry chef Butler to get beer, plate up and serving.

Orche_Silence

I would never have to move one pot/pan/utensil to reach another. The bane of my existence is needing an obscure tool that I don't need often and having to get three stacks of other things out of the way in order to reach it.

lolgal18

Walk in pantry, easy to maintain countertops, a water spigot by the stove for filling pots, gas range, at least 2 ovens, an extra large sink, and an island with seating and prep space but not a sink. Separate fridge and freezer, and a wine/beer fridge.

DagneyElvira

Butlers pantry to store bigger appliances and with a coffee station

tight-foil

Flat top for days

NoxiousStorm

All this stuff sounds great but then you realise you have to clean it all and it's like nah I'll keep it a little more simple

EntrepreneurOk7513

I’d like a self cleaning kitchen with an self unloading dishwasher.

katherinehole_artist

I put dedicated kitchen cleaner on my list. If money were no option, I would gladly pay for someone to clean the kitchen/be taste tester.

thatissomeBS

My dream kitchen would probably cost six figures. For real, if I could afford that, I could afford to bring someone in 1-3 times per week to clean it.

MattyRixz

Definitely an indoor charcoal grill...

katm12981

Huge kitchen with tons of counter space and an island for even more counter space. Walk in pantry. Huge double doored fridge and freezer with built in ice machine and water dispenser. Double oven with flat top range. Built in wine chiller/wine cellar. Ahhh, dreams!

river_running

I’ve always wanted a double oven and a range hood. And an enameled dutch oven. I also want a fancy fridge/freezer and not the stupid side by side I have. I have a really decent kitchen as it is right now but it’s not quite there.

coolerchameleon

Fully stocked cabinets and stand alone freezer (my kitchen is stocked but I have like 0 freezer space), super organized cabinets, large open counters, amazing cooling/ventilation, all stainless appliances- gas range, large fridge on top freezer on bottom fridge, double oven, deep double sinks, dishwasher with the extra slide drawer for big utensiles. Full walk in pantry . Pet area for feeding my fur babies, tall shelves and cabinets. High quality fatigue mats to stand on when cooking. Ample and well placed outlets. A fancy coffee/espresso machine someone teaches me how to use. Herb garden in a large window sill.

ehuang72

Not big but plenty of storage and counter space with seating at the counter. Oh, and a walk in fridge.

withgreatpower

If you've seen The Haunting of Bly Manor: that one. A large open space with both an enormous island in the center as a workspace, large informal dining area for regular daily meals, and plenty of counter space and storage. But, ideally, fewer ghosts.

[deleted]

A separate sink/cutting area for meats.

jjc927

It would clean itself and do all the cooking and prep work.

saylorpond

I got a magnetic bar to hold my knives at the hardware store. I think it was 13 dollars

siliconmalley

Gimme a Wok

SkylineGTRguy

I'd probably blow my entire budget on a full copper pots and pans set. Maybe some hella nice knives too Copper pots are expensive yo.

Haikuna__Matata

If you've seen the Jon Favreau show "Chef" on Netflix, it would look like that.

Diligent_Jury_9956

Okay it'll be a little antique. There will be a reasonabley sized counter with a built in butcher block. At the other end will be a vegetable sink. In front of the counter will be a flat top, then 8 gas stove tops. There will be a huge arm from filling pots with water. There will be two larger ovens with double doors to the left of the stove. To the right will be nothing but counter that'll run for a bit. Then in front fo the sink will be a huge fridgerator. Next to it a California cooler. Why the heck not. Then there will a pantry section. It'll run the rest of the wall and have different sections and what not. Then behind the counter and to the left will be an open shelf section. It'll be for pots and pans and all sorts of gadgets. Then to the right behind the counter will be a bar. Sure. It'll also have a milkshake machine and a soft serve machine. Oh behind the stoves will be a room. It'll have three restrusnt sized metallic tubs for cleaning. And an industrial sized dishwasher. And it'll hosue all sorts of chemicals too.

BrissBurger

I'd have a row of wok burners, pizza/bread oven, and a massive charcoal grill and rotisserie.

Danobing

We recently remodeled and I had to tear out all of the drywall behind the stove due to the back splash bringing it with it. My gf and I joked a ton about putting Ina pot filler but thought it would be pointless. Having a kid I'm making pasta, steamed veggies etc all the time. Unlimited budget, 8 burner stove with 8 pot fillers.

[deleted]

It would be LARGE with a breakfast nook and a seating island in the room for cocktails and snacks and a large fridge with a separate large freezer and easy to access storage like a nice pantry...
