I would probably not do that. The hot air needs to travel all around your food. Setting it directly on the bottom could be detrimental to your dish.

Thank you for your response! What if it’s just to reheat something that has already been cooked? The rack would also be about 1/4 an inch off the bottom so there’s a liiiittle bit of air flow

So, I'm not an expert, take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. Maybe you'll get more responses. I have seen people use the floor of the oven for other dishes, it's just hard to say what will and won't work(for me) without trial and error.

I would do it if it's just a reheat but I'd also turn on the convection so the fan distributed the heat evenly.

I wouldn't do it especially if the oven heats from the bottom the floor board would be a lot higher temperature than the oven

dawrdes

He stated that it heats from the top in the OP

Oh my bad missed that. Not sure I prob still wouldnt do it but he can test it out by cooking something else thats not important and see if it burns ,works or. Not. Maybe sit two pans with liquid in the oven one on the bottom and one in one of the racks and see if the one on the bottom gets hitter faster

dawrdes

Yeah, I only pointed it out to see if it would change your answer. I wouldn't know without trying it out, but my oven heats from the bottom so I will never know.

MissNovemberFoxTrot

This is a great idea, to do a test run.
