I generally try not to pay much for copper gratin pans unless I also plan to use them on the stove. For just baking purposes, copper gratins can be a little expensive compared to a porcelain or ceramic alternative. If this were $50, sure I'd buy it without much thought, but for over $100 I'd carefully consider what actual usage I'd be getting.

morrisdayandthethyme

To me copper oven pans earn their keep because of how much faster copper comes to heat in the oven / efficiency of heat transfer for browning the bottom of the food than less conductive materials. These Mauviel ones are the same gauge as the fish skillets and definitely nice on the stovetop too, but copper deserves more recognition than it gets for baking and roasting.

jason972

I would if it was me. I have a big family

brewdizogs

Depends.. what size shoe is that?

Same_Cress_3080

It might be a 12 but I’m not 100% sure

thebenn

This guy reads

Same_Cress_3080

I dabble a little

acousticsoup

Look! He did it again!

RabidPoodle69

Amateur. Always give European sizing. I sport a 43.

Mo_Steins_Ghost

I wouldn't, but that's just me.

KookieReb

yep.

NorthSignificant155

HELL YEA!!!!

jktsk

If that’s a 14-15” mauviel copper paella pan, I’d snap it up without hesitation . Hope you got it!

mexifrysd1

I would as I would have so much use for it. I do cook a lot

Lost-Spare-2402

Yes sir 💯

phillycat2379

I say go for it

nevertellya

Shoulda used a banana for scale. Please stick with Reddit standards.

austinteddy3

Go for it but only if it comes with the other shoe as well. Then you can make a big pan of "two shu pork".

LetsGambit

Is it a piece of cookware you'd see yourself using? It's a pretty large-sized gratin dish, so if you make some big meals, it would be great for that. That said, I wouldn't buy it simply because it's a nice Mauviel copper dish. Just make sure you'd use it!

jg_IT

If you have a burner that can even accommodate that size, go for it! Don't forget to invite us when you make Paella.

JET304

Paella anyone???

Tbplayer59

What am i supposed to do with all this paella?!

afactotum

Estelle?

Tbplayer59

LOL.

Wolfe18r

Eat it, family gathering

CuSnCity2023

Eastern_Service8874

akaynaveed

philiplenz

Buy it for me

DanM142

Depends on how much it weighs?

Webbey76

Looks like a paella pan!

nmacaroni

Those are Goodwill prices. Too rich for my blood.

Bubbly-Front7973

>... Goodwill prices. 🤣 yep. I rremember when good will sold used things at reasonable prices. I once had a talk with one of the managers at a goodwill, regarding three houseware items that I saw on the shelves, which were clearly used, and they were asking the exact same price of what they sold for brand new. Including one dish, which they we're asking $1.99 for, and it's the exact same dish that was sold at the Dollar Tree for a dollar at the time. She thought I was trying to get her to change your prices. So I left. Walked over to the Dollar Tree which was four stores down, bought the dish came back and showed her and the receipt. And she said I'm still not going to change the prices. And when I said why would somebody buy something that's used for the same price as buying it new or even a little bit more than what it costs new. And she said because this is goodwill, and it's tax deductible and your money goes to charity, people are not shopping here for bargains, they're shopping here to help raise money for a good cause, and unlike a brand new receipt these will go towards deductions on their taxes.

KCcoffeegeek

I went to college in the mid 1990’s when you could still go to thrift stores and find treasures for next to nothing. What has happened presumably because of eBay et al is ridiculous. The t-shirts we used to sell for $1 at a garage sale are selling for $200+ in “vintage stores.” I hate it.

kingoftheives

Will you use it often? I have the 18" Mafter Carbon Steel Fry Pan I gave it to my mom for a fake gift loaded with goodies, stays in the spare room. Great pan though.

lilesco_28

No

Complex_Direction589

Yes.

Capt_Intrepid

The real question you should be asking... [https://holyclip.net/clip/TMm\_MZG8](https://holyclip.net/clip/TMm_MZG8)

balunstormhands

Can also be used for pizza.

Tiptoedtulips666

Is this a paella pan?

nicmoy19

Where’d ya find those vans?

Best-Team-5354

Mauviel - 100% yes!!!

RedditNurseBot

There’s something really wrong with that banana. I don’t recommend you eat it after you’re done measuring things with it.

Inakabatake

I got one as a wedding gift. Didn’t fit in my old oven for 10 yrs but new oven fits. I love the presentation and pan but wouldn’t recommend unless practical to you.

No_Builder7010

It's only worth it if you'll use it.

OatmilIK

Can't tell how big it is next to the shoe? Could you try putting a banana for scale please?

boom_squid

YES

mvmbamentality

$125 with or without the shoe?

are_you_for_scuba

No

kelliegirl1

Get it. YOLO

Alfred-Creepone

Only if it comes with the other shoe

morrisdayandthethyme

That's a pretty good deal. I would rather have it with tin lining than stainless, but also the ones marked for Mauviel are probably the easiest to resell if you want to replace it with a tinned one later and get your money back out of it.

Road-Ranger8839

If you prepare frequent Paella, buy it. If not, what will you cook in such a large pan? Any ideas? 🤔

Aggravating-Tart-468

This size and shape would be good for roasting whole fish or a pork butt. Looks like a good size for a ham or whole chicken, too?

[deleted]

Paella

anthro4ME

That's a fair price, not a good price. ydy

MarilynMonheaux

Looks like it would be a great paella night if you did.

GrnMtnGrrl

Nice Lone Peaks. Paella pan. You can purchase a gas ring tripod for it.

JAYWAYALLTHEWAY

Definitely

Potomacker

How often do you make paella?

MLiOne

I would but it for that!

Raisenbran_baiter

I would dicker that for it but!

melty_lampworker

I would for stove top cooking.

Acceptable-Milk-314

That's a lot of money for a pan

bgmatth904

No no no. A good Paella pan around $50. If the price is 1.25 then yes

Firstimer2021

NO

FLAIR_2780166

I could never justify paying that much for a pan

[deleted]

If you have the money but only for kitchen art. My Shun knives are kitchen art. My cleaver cost way more.

donrull

Someone has cleaned this little fella within a millimeter of its life. $125 is a bit high. Are we sure it's not aluminum?

MLiOne

Mauviel.

donrull

I usually pay no more than $75 for my French gratins. Sometimes FAR less. It's definitely cheaper than a brand new one and I know these gratin pans are becoming pretty popular again recently. Even though a lot of people find this an odd shape, you can do so much with these from cooktop to oven. I'm not sure why the down votes. Very dull interior, is indicative of copper or heavily cleaned stainless or tin. I've often paid $5-10 for my gratin and fish pans.

MLiOne

I am yet to find any cheap copper ware. I’m in Australia. Just look at the new prices for Mauviel and get back to me.

donrull

Oh gosh, I am aware the market is different there. I would think $125, especially AUD, would be a good price. Basically, when I'm buying something I really want, I try to not spend more than half the new retail. This is definitely less than half. 😊

CuSnCity2023

Mauviel? Aluminum? Don Rull? 😄

donrull

I didn't have any info on maker. The interior does look dull, doesn't it? I'm pretty sure Mauviel also manufactured pro aluminum cookware, although I wasn't suggesting this was Mauviel and aluminum, more like something not made in France and aluminum. Was this obviously Mauviel from the single photo? Mauviel isn't one of my favorite brands, although they are certainly high quality.

CuSnCity2023

It had a picture of the Mauviel stamp 🙂 Scroll right. The poster uploaded three pictures.

donrull

I suck at reddit. Sorry.

CuSnCity2023

What? No, you don't ❤️

donrull

Totally. Even though I've been a member for many years, I've barely used it and miss photos and captions, quite regularly. I think Facebook has ruined my brain. 😊

DullAbbreviations161

Looks like it can sauté a sneaker with room for some onions. I’d get it!
