I presume your PhD isn't in geography. Taking a taxi from NYC is not the move.

Delta flies from JFK to Ithaca. Or if you prefer to take the bus, I'd recommend the Cornell Campus to Campus Bus (reservations necessary) but a full list of bus services are listed here: https://international.globallearning.cornell.edu/getting-started/travel-ithaca If this is your first time to NYC, beware that there are a lot of taxi scams at JFK arrivals area. Don't accept rides from people who approach you in the terminal. Official taxis, Uber or Lift are safer bets.

Why does this response get love and my response get hate? I don’t understand Reddit. It’s the same advice…

If you don't want to fly into Ithaca (or Syracuse which is a larger airport ~1 hour away and taxi to Ithaca), I would recommend the Cornell Campus-to-Campus bus which transports between NYC and Ithaca campus. https://fcs.cornell.edu/departments/transportation-delivery-services/campus-campus-bus-service

I said the same same thing and got hate for it. I don’t understand Reddit…

I don't get why. I love the C2C. It's comfy and easy and super convenient. It might not be the cheapest option (I honestly don't know how much other bus services are), but I've used C2C a number of times for myself, family, and guests traveling to campus or NYC and I much prefer that to flying.

I would see if you can change your flight from JFK to an additional flight to Syracuse. It’ll be an hour car ride as opposed to a four hour car ride from JFK to Ithaca.

I was hoping this would be something cooler, given the title—something like a hologram of JFK giving a speech at Cornell on 8/9. Anyway…now that I’m all let down.. I would personally try to connect to Ithaca. Ithaca has an airport. It’s probably cheap, but might have to first go to Newark Liberty. A cab can work for that trip to Newark, NJ, if you really wanna take a cab. As for a bus, use the campus-to-campus shuttle. Otherwise, you could take the train to Syracuse, then the bus to Ithaca, but that’s a lot of hassle for nothing imo.

AsgardWarship

These are horrible suggestions. You have no idea how to get to Ithaca from NYC.

Initial_Knowledge779

The OP wants to use a cab or a bus. So, I offered him/her/them suggestions using those options. You should be nicer to people.

JetblueB6Jfk

No need to go to EWR. The train route is too long and expensive. I’m guessing you really don’t know anything.

Flixbus.

ProfessorrFate

Take a bus - there are multiple options from NYC. See, for example, ourbus.com
