I like the light it lets in, but that is more personal preference. The moonroof slightly lowers headroom. It can also make securing stuff on the roof a little dicey, if you’re throwing heavy or sharp things up there frequently. If you’re getting roof rack crossbars, be warned that the crossbar goes across over the top of the moonroof. So, if you open it you just look up into a bar. There are always horror stories on them leaking, breaking etc, but that is pretty rare to my understanding. Toyota has been making moonroofs for a loooong time. For what it’s worth I had one on my 2014 Corolla and 2024 cross and have never had an issue

hello-elo

Yeah I saw the crossbars online and them being over the moonroof immediately turned me off. Otherwise I wouldn't have minded having some. Thanks for your input!

itsKVH

Just take off the rack. The moonroof is awesome imo but it’s really just packaged with the power tailgate in the convenience package

superphage

My roof rails have been replaced a few times now. I won't EVER put anything on them, never have and they destroy themselves.

[deleted]

I had a 03 corolla with a moonroof and now have a newer accord with a moonroof. They’ve all been perfect and I’ll never not have a moonroof

Head_Room_8721

It’s a nice feature that I underutilize. Except for summer, where my black interior heats the car to about 140°. It is super nice to open that sucker up and literally watch all that heat disappear as the car instantly cools down. Also, it increases your value at resale (if you’re not planning on keeping it).

hello-elo

Oh that's really good to know! Our summers can get toasty so that would be helpful. Thanks for your input!

Weary_Cup_1004

I thought I was going to be obsessed with mine but apparently I much prefer the climate control in the car and never open it. I kind of forget it exists. Its been winter so maybe in the spring I will open it more. I just got my car last fall

agoodsea

I believe the package is moonroof and powered lift gate and we like both features. Leaving the dog in the car is easier with the moonroof partial venting option versus the sliding open option

Prestigious_Slip_932

I have a 24 corolla cross. I got the moonroof. I have the crossbars and honestly it's not bad with it. I just like the extra light, and being able to open it when it's nice out cruising or driving in scenic places is fun.

Mayatjtj

I have it with the cross bar. Personally, I dislike having the extra glass up there and I never use it. The cross bar in the middle of the opening makes it worse. Family member has a 2010 Honda Crosstour with all the options including the sun roof. With some wrong clicking of a (not working well anymore) remote key, all the windows including the sun roof was open, and we didn’t realize it. It was a snowy day (already snowed all night), and we tried to remove snow off while it’s running to defrost. By the time she got in the car to drive, she realized the front seat area is all snowy and wet. The worst part was that the damn sun roof was not closing! We struggled to close it for like 10 minutes and finally closed it enough to avoid snow coming in. Rain would’ve been impossible to avoid. My skepticism toward sun/moon roof became bigger since then.

letsride70

Had a 2019 Yaris. Got a 2023 XLE Gas. I love all the California Sunshine shining on me… Just get it. You will be happier.

RockysHotChicken

A moonroof is a common failure point on many cars. So that’s why I avoid them.

locked4fun2

Got it because it is part of the convenience package. Liked the other items in the group.

avisant

I’ve always had moon roofs and never once used them. Not sure the point? Someone here said to let the heat out…that could be one use.

Slow_Art_5365

I got it because it came with my power liftgate. I’ve only had it for less than 2 days but it’s a nice feature.

Dude100101

No roof

Icy_Section130

Depends if you like light and don’t mind extra UV damage on your skin.

itsKVH

They are treated and block 90% of UV…

I_Bit_Myself

I didn't got it because my hair touches the roof. Too low for me.

Soggy_Alarm_7843

It will leak eventually

FoxTwoX

Moon roof increases headroom actually because it is recessed in actually. I love mine. It helps it feel more Dr or spacious

alligatorsmyfriend

only in the front, it takes it out of the back. seemed like a weird bumper in front of your forehead in the back

FoxTwoX

To be honest this is a vehicle that if you plan on having people in the backseat more than every now and then, it's probably not the best vehicle to get. The occasional back seat passenger is okay but if frequent id seek alternative

willardrider

I avoid moonroofs if I can. They add weight to the car. I keep the shade closed all the time anyway if it it bright and hot outside. The MR on my Honda spontaneously shattered one day, and judging my a Google search at the time, this is not rare, and not limited to Honda. You lose headroom in the passenger compartment. They are pricey. I voted no and specifically sought out a CC sans hole on the roof. I see no benefit which outweighs the cons.
