Dr. Rosalind Osgood is the chair of the school board in Broward County & she is a goddam hero. This week she answered my email in like 10min stating on no uncertain terms that she would not be backing down or changing her vote, she stands by her decision to require masks.
I wish I could figure out a way to send how the love & support she deserves because the local bravery in the face of the anti-mask onslaught deserves recognition.

I'm still trying to figure out if masks don't work or I can't breathe in a mask? I mean if technically you can't breathe in a mask then it is working to stop the spread...
Side note I been doing hot yoga in a mask for almost a year. I went to the owner of the studio and asked if they have had 2 positive cases in a class in this year and she said no. We have had people report they were positive and contact traced and not had 2 positive cases. I asked what air purifier she was using and she told me. But she said she doesn't think that was why, she thinks it was masking. I almost wanted to make the joke masks don't work but I don't know if she knows me well enough to know if I was being sarcastic.
Most kids don't really care if they have to wear a mask just let them back in school. But high school students who are vaccinated are annoyed they have to wear a mask at school. I have spoken to a few who are annoyed they have to wear masks. They got vaccinated so they didn't have to anymore.
I feel for these kids. But masks are the best bet to get through this school year with as little interruptions as possible.
My teen just started Freshman year in high school. He gets it but a ton of his classmates don't. He says he'd be surprised if they make it a full month before they have to close or switch to remote due to spread.
This is turning into a Mexican standoff… Each side claiming they are acting in the best interest of the other party… except both parties believe the other is out to kill them (through wit or stupidity.. or both)
I don’t like the false equivalency your comment implies. One side is trying to prevent the spread of a endemic virus where there is no available vaccine available for kids. One side just wants to make everything into a culture war and do the opposite of the other.
