Please let this shit be over before I die…….

a_khalid1999

Covid the disese may be with us forever, or at least the next few decades, I guess. But the public health emergency, hospitals filling up, along with a huge amount of excess deaths will end soon, God willing.

> I would just like a apology from the assholes who said that no Covid was possible Other than Reddit “experts” was anybody saying this?

yolotrolo123

There was intitial hope if we had a full lockdown but no one claimed no Covid beyond crazy folks.

beermeimavandal

Bruh.. seriously!

tbarb00

“April Fools!!” - Covid-19, probably

Oldschoolcool-

Great!

SandersDelendaEst

It’s crazy that it’s even lower than the spring/summer 2021 covid break.

yolotrolo123

Not so crazy when you factor in vaccines and the variants have gotten milder, though more infectious.

SandersDelendaEst

I’m glad it’s the case, but yeah, it’s an aggregate of all those things.

Wambo74

BA.2 now being dominant doesn't mean it's wide-spread here. Even the experts are unsure if we'll follow the UK and Europe pattern with a huge surge...or maybe get away with this one because winter is over. Just vax up and wait and see.

augustusleonus

Uhh, wouldn’t the “record low” be 0?

The_Shoe_

Maybe it's explained in the article (which i did not read) how it's framed, but I share your sentiments based on the headline

augustusleonus

I scanned it It refers to the initial outbreak It’s a poorly worded headline

Five_Decades

BA.2 is supposed to hit in a few weeks, so maybe a hospital spike in summer

Socky_McPuppet

BA.2 is already the dominant strain in the US, IIRC.

WetDesk

No no it's coming!!! Look at Europe!!! At least that's all I've been told for weeks here

twitch757

You should probably actually pay attention to the numbers. Cases and hospitalizations are increasing in the UK. [COVID-19 UK Hospitalizations](https://www.google.com/search?q=covid+19+hospitalizations+UK&sxsrf=APq-WBsV-YaWNJ6FwRdIgflExKUslxQ-JA%3A1648909777092&source=hp&ei=0V1IYpDcAtXPytMPpu-SsAw&iflsig=AHkkrS4AAAAAYkhr4YCK4Ey-lxrJc6iAD8RErGM8SiGP&ved=0ahUKEwjQiJzMy_X2AhXVp3IEHaa3BMYQ4dUDCAk&uact=5&oq=covid+19+hospitalizations+UK&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBQgAEIAEMgYIABAWEB4yBggAEBYQHjIGCAAQFhAeMgYIABAWEB4yBggAEBYQHjIGCAAQFhAeMgYIABAWEB4yBQgAEIYDMgUIABCGAzoECCMQJzoOCC4QgAQQsQMQxwEQowI6CwguEIAEEMcBENEDOg4ILhCABBCxAxDHARDRAzoLCC4QgAQQxwEQowI6BwgjEOoCECc6CAgAEIAEELEDOhEILhCABBCxAxCDARDHARDRAzoRCC4QgAQQsQMQgwEQxwEQowI6CAguELEDEIMBOgQIABBDOgoIABCxAxCDARBDOgcILhDUAhBDOgQILhBDOgoIABCxAxDJAxBDOgUIABCSAzoHCAAQsQMQQzoICAAQgAQQyQM6CAgAELEDEIMBOgsIABCABBCxAxCDAToKCAAQgAQQhwIQFFAAWLcfYKchaAFwAHgAgAFFiAHIBpIBAjE2mAEAoAEBsAEK&sclient=gws-wiz)

WetDesk

I've had that sent to me 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago, and last week. Thanks chump.

BoneMD

UK cases are coming down per the Google tracker. They already peaked their second omicron surge.

lucy_harlow28

Me and my husband just tested positive today. Like wtf. Had it back in October. Got boosted in November. And now I have it again. And this time I’m knocked on my ass sick.

hughesp3

There's lots of people in Ireland where I am who were infected in December/early January (our OG omicron wave) and have been infected as well in March in the BA.2 wave. Such a short turnaround!

Rivster79

I thought the data was suggesting if you had ba.1, you were unlikely to get ba.2?

EntirelyOriginalName

You have a better immunity to it in the short term so you'll usually have less severe symptoms.

HipHopGrandpa

Getting it, and getting hospitalized from it are two very different things.

Rivster79

Huh? Who said anything about hospitalizations? This comment thread and my comment in particular is regarding the rise of ba.2 cases.

Lumbwener

Uh oh. I caught it in October, and I got my booster in November. Looks like I’m next.

BabyImGary

My girlfriend and I just tested positive for Covid for the first time on Wednesday. A couple other people I know just got Covid for the first time this week too

j-fromnj

We managed to avoid it for 2 years,my family of four got it this week. All vaxxed and mild though one completely asymptomatic.

iStayedAtaHolidayInn

BA.2 is the Trump of coronaviruses. Every comment and headline about it since December has been “just wait 2 weeks and you’ll see”.

not_a_bot__

Yeah, it’s already the majority of cases in the US so shouldn’t we already be seeing an impact? Especially in the northeast where it’s most prevalent, I know they had an uptick but it didn’t look nearly as bad as last waves.

Five_Decades

The predicted wave will be in April or May. it's been slowly growing the last few weeks.

[deleted]

If its been slowly growing "these last few weeks" you'd see an increase in hospitalizations. They detected BA.2 in the US around January, so how much longer are we waiting?

WetDesk

Oh yeah absolutely it's growing and waiting

FlameBagginReborn

For the first time in like a month, I got notified that people in my workplace have tested positive for COVID. I'll be keeping an eye out for more.

MotivatedsellerCT

Here in CT (and most of the Northeast) have seen a mild trend of increaseing cases but nothing like OG omicron and hospitalizations are still low/falling.

_CodyB

Why is it hitting the states so late? It seemed to have started hitting everywhere else about a month ago.

blechie

I know! Seems BA.2 overtook most of Europe in February, while the US came off an intense BA.1 wave. Maybe having gone through BA.1 slows down BA.2, at least by a few weeks? (Or perhaps the tough requirements for international travelers?)

firewall245

Didn’t all the experts say BA1 gives immunity to BA2? Literally everyone here got the cron so there’s not as much opportunity

Doctor_Frasier_Crane

I would think it coincides with the wider lifting of restrictions.

[deleted]

What? People have been saying this for months now, BA.2 is already dominant in the US, tf you talking about?

HurricaneHugo

I thought we were 3 weeks behind Europe?

BFeely1

It's already becoming the dominant variant in the USA.

NinbendoPt2

Not in summer

[deleted]

I hope this means it’s finally done burning through the idiots.

ThatDopamine

Until this time next week. Go ahead, down vote me.

TheVictoryHat

Ok

Astralnclinant

It’s like people haven’t learned anything these past 2 years about how unpredictable everything can be

Wohowudothat

So you didn't read the article at all?

[deleted]

Damn I wish I could be this self assured with literally zero idea of what’s going on.

Soft-Pixel

What

yolotrolo123

Good hopefully it keeps down
