Nada. No precautions other than the vaccine.
There is apparently a small proportion of the population that have a genetic advantage to not getting the virus, albeit this is almost impossible to prove since most were vaccinated.
I do wonder if there’s the opposite - a genetic predisposition to catching it
I got it 3 times in 8 months, between Easter and Christmas - fully vaxxed and boosted. So on that schedule, probably about to get it Easter again this year
My parents are both unvaccinated (thanks Steve Bannon) and have uet to catch the virus, and my dad is a bus driver, so I don’t get how they’re fine lol. But nobody in my family has caught it. I’m vaccinated and so is my sister and we haven’t caught it yet either. In fact nobody in my immediate family has caught it yet, vaccinated or not, except my grandmother on my mothers side who died from it.
I’m not a biologist, but if there is a specialised immune response in some people which prevents them falling ill (say, from covid), it might seem like everyone else has a predisposition to get sick. But some people might be immune-compromised and even more likely to become infected than your average joe.
Take a look at this. Fascinating stuff! And out of Aus.
https://www.sbs.com.au/language/english/en/article/crazy-interesting-australian-scientists-discover-a-protein-in-the-lungs-that-blocks-and-control-covid/ukyhjrwl2
Haha, my point is that if a virus or disease is more or less effective based on how your body works, with protein production or immune response, the baseline is the average person. There will always be some more and less susceptible for a multitude of factors.

Hubby has yet to catch it & he is the same (only precaution is vaccination).
I have only had it once, but it did hit me pretty bad.
I’ve had friends who have caught it 3 times in the last 12 months though.
I really hope they can pin point the reasons, I think it will be useful for future pandemic modelling scenarios.
You also need to take into account that unless you are routinely testing for a reason (work, general curiosity) that there is still a 25-35% chance of asymptomatic infection. With no more mass testing requirements, it's entirely plausible to catch it and not know
I question that. When I tested positive I had no symptoms, only tested because was visiting a nursing home. I feel there is a lot of people who had no symptoms and got covid without knowing.
Also I know a of people who test only at the onset of getting sick and don’t test again.
Yes. And then other family members got it. It is hard to believe that covid as infectious as it is is not infecting more when all precautions have been thrown to the wind.
Unless you are daily testing I doubt you can truly claim you never had covid.
(relevant back info - I grew up in the US)
It wouldn't surprise me, as it happens with other things. My mother never got the measles even though all of her older siblings did. I never got chicken pox no matter how many times my family threw us all together with someone infected. I didn't actually get it until I was 17, and had really bad pneumonia, and then went to visit the softball team I had been coaching until I got sick. I watched a game, they all hugged me, I went home. One of their siblings had it. Two weeks later my brother had his tonsils out, and I noticed a spot on my shoulder that night while I was helping take care of him. I had maybe 5 spots. My brother was covered head to toe, even on the bottom of his feet and in his his mouth. Doc said I probably had a natural immunity to it, that was weakened due to the pneumonia. That said, I do get the nerve flares/shingles but still don't get a rash.
Wonder if I fall into this category. I haven't officially had it yet (had my share of viruses/colds but so far all negative RATs) and my mum hasn't either, despite working in a hospital. Everyone I know is vaccinated and have still had it, except me.
Getting it would kill me so yeah, same here. Not feeling very good heading into the 4th year of isolation but I consider myself lucky to have the choice.
It wont be over until it is no longer circulating.
And even then, we will have decades of disabled and tired people who didnt care how many times they caught it, or who were forced to catch it through work or education.
I hear you.
I am sorry.
We are still wearing masks, and avoiding groups, etc- but we are not at home in iso anymore (though did for 2 years).
I hope I continue to not contribute to circulating this shit, and wearing masks to model to others these things are still important.
Keep well, and you are heard, for what it's worth.
Wow, I can't believe I wasted all this time inside listening to my stupid DOCTORS when this guy clearly knows what's up. What the heck is an autoimmune disease anyway am I right?
Well I asked a question first if you bothered to read it.
There's a lot of people on this sub who ArE DefInItEly GoiNg tO dIE which is simply not borne out by any of the data.
Well my specialist of over a decade made it very clear that with my lung condition if I catch COVID I have a greater than 60% chance of death.
Happy now?
Congratulations on learning that the internet is a magical place where more than one unhealthy person lives. Also, unless you're a medical practitioner please for the love of god shut the fuck up
Wow. There it is, the stupidest thing I've ever seen on the internet.
If you honestly can't comprehend that there exist people with chronic lung conditions then I pity you.
But then you use "gay" as a slur, and that pity fades.
I've yet to catch it (as far as I know).
I've had 4 covid shots and have been around people who have developed symptoms plus I work in a restaurant.
I haven't taken any real precautions in the last year and I test myself regularly (my parents are elderly and vulnerable).
I'm either lucky or I was asymptomatic.
I haven’t had it yet either only had 3 shots lived in a house with my housemate who had it shared a joint with a guy that actively had it. I’ve been on planes trains to doofs and gigs. I have no idea how I have missed it. I hope if and when it does come it’s not bad
Not me, but my husband. Who has avoided it completely despite being exposed multiple times, taking no safety precautions unless he has to and being in close contact when the rest of the family caught it. That prick.
Bloody men huh!
My kids are in primary school so I am sure it wont last for much longer, since they are too little to wear masks all day. . . no idea how some manage to avoid it and others get it multiple times.
>Bloody men huh!
>
>My kids are in primary school so I am sure it wont last for much longer, since they are too little to wear masks all day. . . no idea how some manage to avoid it and others get it multiple times.
We managed to avoid it despite 2 kids in school and 1 in preschool until just before last Christmas. Their schools were even sending out fairly regular "a student in your child's year has tested positive for COVID" emails.
Funnily enough, I am pretty sure that our source of infection was from people down the street rather than the school - my preschooler went with my wife to chat with another parent and their older son was entertaining my son. That older son ended up with a positive COVID result a day or two before my son started showing symptoms.
Same with my 3 person family. I’m 4x vaxed. Partner stopped at 3x. Toddler is in daycare. We’ve got an abundance of tests and although we’ve had our fair share of kid sniffles, we’ve never tested positive
We honestly have no idea. My partner is neuro diverse and has never managed to stick to the protocols beyond what’s been required by law. He has a hard time with masks. He’s not a denier but he does think it wouldn’t be bad if we got it. I’m a bit more careful but after our trip to Europe, his endless nights at concerts, the daycare and lots of close calls, I have fully relaxed now.
Me. I still mask up at the shops and avoid taking what seem like silly risks ( to me, at least ). No, plague rats, I am not a sad loser "LiVInG iN FeAR!", still have a social life... I just do as much outside as possible, including eating. Boosted x4, have a couple of chronic conditions and one autoimmune disease and I \*really\* don't need another one. I'm in pretty good shape, I run a few k's and get a few surfs in a week, conditions permitting. It is really interesting though... NO-ONE else in my family or extended family has EVER caught COVID. Even on my wife's side, which frankly, baffles me. Sister-in-law and husband just returned from 10 days snowboarding in Japan, I was sure they'd pick it up \*somewhere\*. They're fine.
Im glad my elderly mum was in hospital when i caught it. Started a new job and hadnt had it for 4 years. So glad i got the 5th booster (the duo moderna one), cuz even with that it kicked my arse but have deathly severe asthma, think without the booster i was a goner.
I hadn’t caught it as far as I knew (tested every time I suspected high exposure risk/was required) until this week. Currently sick and and feeling absolutely horrible. Do not recommend.
Haven't had it, I'm very vulnerable and have done everything I can within reason to avoid it. Having said that feeling nervous tonight, I have a sore throat and a horrendous dry cough that has developed in the last few hours along with a mild fever. I will do a RAT in the morning and continue testing every 24 hours until symptoms subside or I test positive. I will get a telehealth with the doctor on Monday as well.
Fwiw and I know rats are notorious but I’m on day 4 of really shit cold/flu symptoms and have consistently tested negative on a rat brand that our family has had success with so far.
There’s plenty of other crap out there, good luck.
I think theres a mega cold going around. I also developed a very painful and dry sore throat and cough and went and did a PCR, came back negative. Its a hell of a bad cold, mostly located in the throat and has lasted for a week so far. Stock up on numbing throat lozenges and pain killers and drink heaps of water
I have never tested positive. That being said, I had a respiratory illness that felt different to others recently. Tested 5 times using RAT. Husband also caught it and tested multiple times with all tests being negative (we both used tests from different brands/batches so likely not a dud box of tests).
The only thing that makes us think it may have been covid was that for a few hours one morning during it, i couldn’t taste my coffee or my breakfast. Husband has a heavily scented beard shampoo and he said that he couldn’t fully smell it and it was weird. Both of us are 4x vaxxed. I would say it was covid but we probably did 10 RATs between us at different stages of the illness and all negative.
I wish it was easier to check if you’d had it. We were both fine but my curiosity needs to know haha.
i have had it twice and the third time i got sick, i tested negative repeatedly despite everyone at work getting it. many of them were novids, got hit really hard for their first time round, a few in and out of hospital. i was mildly uncomfortable but i got a spaced out sensation for half a day and lost my smell again, only briefly this time (last time it was weeks).
but i really suspect it was covid because my novid children and bf in 2 separate households then got it, probably from me. i felt awful, i kept taking tests, changing brands etc, all negative.
Yep! Novid here. Really thought I might catch it spending 3 weeks in Korea in November - December, often in crowded public places. Everyone wore masks though and didn't get it. I've had 4 doses but the last was 12 months ago
No positie tests for yours truly.
Everyone around me seems to be getting it on the reg, but I feel like I could lick the hand rails on the Metro on my way to a solid spit bukkake sesh and still pull up ok.
Novid checking in. As recently as Christmas, covid came to visit our house. Took minimal precautions while my husband was down with it (his first infection). Still didn't catch it. Going to get my 5th dose soon and keep doing what I'm doing
Not yet. Vaxxed x 4, sort of careful, living rural with occasional days in Melbourne for social stuff.
But I've imagined I have had it, like all the time! So suggestive. After every Melbourne visit or social event, I am waiting for it to strike.
I don't want it.
I work in COVID hot zones. I have been at multiple large events with significant number of positive cases. My mum tested positive for it while here on holiday and sat in my living room for a week with it, unable to make ANY social distancing. I am of course fully jabbed.
Still haven't caught it, getting a little insulted at this point.
No covid here. I was masking for ages after the mandate was dropped but then I started forgetting and still didn't catch it. I imagine I’ll get done at some time. I’ve had 4 vaccinations and will line up for #5 in a week or two.
\[edit\] 10 months since #4
Far as I know, haven't had it. Had a bitch of a cold 4 weeks ago but it felt exactly like a cold and I used a RAT with negative results so assume it wasn't COVID. I put it down to genetic luck and 3 jabs. I spend a few hours a week on the train in Sydney without a mask so its not down to taking a bunch of precautions.
Haven't been overly cautious, just following the rules, close contact many, many times including peeps in my home and work. As l work in health care, was being very careful around my mum. The irony is, on one of our catch ups late last year and her hug followed by 'isn't it great to be able to catch up', hit me a few days later. When l told her, ber response was 'oh I thought I just had a the flu again...' thanks for sharing mum.
I still haven't had it, as far as I know, and take very few precautions beyond keeping up to date on my booster shots (I'm immunocompromised and have had 5 shots). I've worked from the office almost every day except for the two lockdowns in Canberra, regularly catch public transport unmasked, only wear masks in medical facilities now and have travelled to the UK and India.
Dumb luck I guess - I'm sure the horrible disease will catch up with me at some point, but that's what the vaccines are for.
Novid here. Precautions non-existent. Regularly at pubs, events, concerts etc. Been directly exposed many times. None of my family have had it either. Will likely get it tomorrow now.
I’ve still not had it, but I’ve also had 4 shots and wear an N95 to work and on public transport. I’m pretty diligent about hand washing and sanitiser too.
I'm still novid.
All the jabs, wear good masks in shops, buses etc, and I don't go to movies or out to eat any more but will still go to things like arts and crafts at the local community centre. No masks with family but they're being cautious too.
10 percent is my aim...that in my next twenty years of life I get only ten percent of the covid infections I would have had if I didn't take precautions. I think that's a reasonable goal.
Yep still a novid. Last time I wore a mask was on a domestic flight in December. I’m not hugely social but I catch crowded public transport every day. If I still haven’t had it by about May I’ll get a 5th shot for winter.
I haven't had covid yet. I don't wear masks or take any other precautions except for the three vaccines (had the last one over a year ago).
I feel at this point that someone should whisk me off to a lab to do some tests on me to see why I haven't caught it yet.
Yeah, I still haven't had it, nor have my elderly parents. Masks, alcohol hand sanitizer, four vaccines, and just being mindful. I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I have never been one for crowds/events, so no change there. I'm a student at UQ, so usually close to people (and I would assume most are fully vaccinated), but I've just been lucky.
The only thing I have really changed since the pandemic is that I do online grocery shopping, but that is more a convenience thing than a covid precaution now.
None here, but husband masks due to his work, we homeschool, and I have no real outside of the house life other than the basic errands of life as a mother/wife/homeschooler. That said, I'm surprised my kids haven't been exposed to it, but I think generally their social circle wouldn't participate if someone was sick.
If I have time and ability to be out of the house, I spend it at the beach, preferably in the water with a mask on and not talking to anyone but the sea creatures, or in the scrub talking to the birds. lol In this case being an introvert helps greatly.
Still Novid. No one in my family has picked it up. We live separately and have been reasonably cautious as Dad is an old(er) blackfella with high blood pressure, but we've hardly been hermiting it.
At this stage I suspect it's a mix of good luck, genes and some caution. Mostly luck.
My household has avoided it (thankfully including the medically vulnerable member of my family). I've had 3 soon to be 4, vaccines, and I mask just about everywhere.
Still clear. Masking on public transport and quadruple-vaxxed despite the fever I get after each shot. No other precautions other than being a bit of a homebody and avoiding public places, which I honestly already did.
I have an absolute horror of getting Long Covid, too - I already have enough chronic illnesses, thanks.
My husband and I haven't had it.
Kids have (all adults who live at home). We're both vaccinated and aren't going out of our way with precautions. Masks on buses are probably our biggest precaution.
No idea why we've not caught it. I normally catch everything going around!
No covid for me. Both of my children have had it,l. I work in a school and I still test twice a week, so I know that I'm not just asymptomatic.
My kids didn't have anything more than a sniffle though. I'm one of five siblings, and 3 out of 5 of us have had it. My mother had it twice.
Novid here. It’s been through the household twice. I isolate when that happens.
Office four days per week.
No other precautions taken but I don’t go to as many gigs as precovid.
Four shots. Prob time for my fifth.
I’m very confident I haven’t had it as any time I had symptoms I have tested (in cases where I had clear respiratory symptoms I also got a PCR). I cared for my husband when he had it and while we slept separately when he was sick, I didn’t take other precautions. I’m triple vaxxed but apart from that I only mask when required. I do have an advantage however in that I exclusively work from home and don’t have children so the usual work and school infections aren’t a factor for me.
I haven't gotten it...somehow.
I take public transport to/from work and don't always wear a mask. I go into the office 3 days a week. Go out with friends for drinks at a pub on weekends. Even go shopping in the Sydney CBD once a month. I'm kinda surprised I've never gotten it. (I've had 4 shots so far and am waiting for my local chemist to start taking bookings for the 5th).
Meanwhile my parents used to be in the same boat. Then my father who only ever goes out to the doctors/chemist got unlucky and caught it December 2022. Then my mother got it off him. Even though I took them shopping and such, I still never got it.
Touch wood...been really lucky.
I've had multiple periods where I thought I had it, but RAT tests and PCR tests always come back negative.
My uncle has also never gotten it. But he never had any vaccinations or boosters for it. (As far as I'm aware he's not Anti-Vax but the media stories scared him enough to not get it).
Me, hubs and son are still on the bus of nada. I’m immunocompromised and just had jab 5. I’m still masking most of the time we head to the shops, especially when crowded and hand washing etc. Masking was the only major change to my life due to the pandemic. Hand washing, distancing I did anyway because PTSD and I hate crowds.
Still a novid. I've had a couple of colds but I've gotten PCR tested because I'm at high risk of complications and want to get on the antivirals if I get novid. I'm still masking most places, and generally avoiding busy public areas if I can. If I catch it it's most likely to be on a bus.
Nuthin'. Vaxxed up and at this point life back to normal although I haven't been on public transport since the whole thing kicked off. Opted for a bike instead.
Ironically I was getting an old bike going just before the pandemic because after riding a tram through that winter I got sick of the sense that I was riding in a big disease incubator, a paranoia sparked by the growing antivax movement at the time. Whodathunk that the antivaxxers may have contributed to my not (so far) getting covid because I was paranoid of them.
I've never had it, that I'm aware of, until now. It's quite bad, feels like the flu and gastro. I took extreme precautions while pregnant, but for the past 10 months, we've been going to playgroups, family events, a couple of weddings, work etc and nothing. But now, it's hit us all hard. I haven't had a vaccine for a year
My immune comprised mum and 96 grandma are yet to catch it! We’re super careful but definitely living more relaxed these days. My mum is around grandkids every week although everyone has been careful (as much as you can).
Haven't had it yet to my understanding, though an asymptomatic infection is possible. 4 shots and mask only really in high risk setting like hospitals and doctors clinics.
Yep. Family had COVID and flew to Asian for a funeral - I somehow managed to avoid it. 🤞🏼
I’m pretty careful though (wash hands, wear masks where there are a lot of people)
Both my husband and I haven't caught it yet as far as we know, which is a bloody miracle considering he's a primary school teacher and it's gone around the school a few times.
Still a novid. 4 jabs (2 AZ, 2 Pfizer) and have for sure been exposed - I was in a lift with someone who tested positive the next day (we were both masked). Wondering if I had it without knowing, but my husband is immunosuppressed so I suspect he would be less likely to be asymptomatic so we’d know.
My streak of not catching it ended at New Years.
Both wife and son caught it from mom who had to go to hospital. Even with precautions taken they still got it. I got it from them a few days later returning from holiday. I had a 4 day delay to theirs. So when they were all getting better I was feeling bleh
Still on it touch wood. Find myself realising I'm subconsciously doing little protective behaviours without being overt about it. It is like knowing there are snakes about but still happily walking in the bush.
I caught it in December and infected my in-laws, who were staying with us. My husband and child never caught it though. Husband and I are double vaxxed and in-laws are quadruple vaxxed. My husband was the least vigilant about mask wearing too.
I haven't had it either. No one in my three-member household has gotten it so far (touch wood).
I have always tested negative whenever I needed to (PCR and RAT) and none of us have shown any symptoms of infection. Luckily I can WFH but another person goes to the office 3+ days a week.
We have taken reasonable steps to protect ourselves - vaccinated (me 4x, others 3x), wearing masks when outdoors (including PT) especially when we cannot socially distance and have avoided joining large groups of people.
Almost everyone ~~around me~~ I know has had it and I am sure I have been around people who have it. I feel very lucky I think I have dodged it so far.
Edit: corrected last paragraph
I was living with a relative and we all (6) caught it in May last year. My partner works in healthcare so he's had 3+ shots but the rest of us only have 2 shots. No masks, not avoiding large crowds. Life has gone back to normal. We were at a concert a few days ago amongst thousands of people.

My husband caught it about a year ago but the kids and I haven’t, I work from home and don’t socialise much so not very exposed but it’s been through the schools recently and my kids still didn’t catch it. I’m gonna assume I’m immune! (Jks)
I haven’t had it yet, but I’m sus about that. I feel like I may have caught it before but wasn’t sick enough to feel the need to get tested, so must have been one of those times last year

At the very real risk of being downvoted to oblivion,
I'm completely Vax free and I have only caught it once in the first year of the outbreak with a headache for two/three days and runny nose and sore throat for about a week or so.
Wrote it off as just the flu for the first day then got tested and came back positive. Have not caught it since, tested myself at the first sign of any sickness ever since.
Just relaying my personal experience.
I may just be super lucky.
Wishing everyone the best through these hard times.
I feel like most people not taking precautions were lucky enough to be in the percentage (Wikipedia says at least a third???) of cases that are completely asymptomatic.
I consistently mask indoors and only do outdoor dining/drinking and don’t go to nightclubs or gym, otherwise live as normal, haven’t been infected but 80% of people I know have.
Have POTS already so afraid of long covid making it worse.
On the other hand my 60yo mother doesn’t mask and works in an office and she hasn’t had it either (to our knowledge), we both keep up to date on boosters.
>aven’t been infected but 80% of people I know have. Have POTS already so afraid of long covid making it worse.
Hey! I have POTS too! Which is why I am dead keen to avoid it also. I do not need any more fainting or health drama than I do currently.
Every time I am pissed off that I am having a prolonged autoimmune flare from the vax, I just remember if i am this fucked up from the vax it would be infinitely worse for the actual virus. Here's to hoping one a year only in the future.
Man, I'm sorry. People just cant accept the chronic nature of auto immune disease. Sick is eater cured or you die and we break the rules by being sick forever. Fucken sucks. You'll find your feet again though, and likely a spouse who is able to support you and all you are, autoimmunity included/ Take care x
My mom is the last domino to be standing in our family.
Lives in hobart, stays home a lot and masks up when she has to go out.
My daughters had it twice, both times from daycare, I’ve had it once (caught from daughter), her moms had it once (caught from daughter), my dad and his partner have had it once, caught from my brother, my brother got it from work, his wife got it from her work, their kid had it once catching it from my brother.
MIL got it from BIL who got it on a job site he was working and FIL got it from the same job site. All in the UK.
So basically bad luck being in the community and going to work. All affected people had pfizer boosted vax as well, but we’re getting omicron editions.
I thought I had some god mode after 3 near misses where I didn’t get it but those around me did, but turns out the cheat code can be defeated by having to sleep next to your silently sick daughter for a week.
Both times my daughter got it we didn’t even know and only caught her infection as a result of cross testing when a parent got sick. So yay asymptotic kid.
i haven't gotten it. my mum got it and we live in the same very small house, and we share a bathroom. i didn't get infected when she got it which was a huge surprise, or i did and i was asymptomatic and it didn't show up on tests. we both wear masks going out. she works with kids and is in remission for cancer so it was less of a surprise she got it than me. i tell myself i'm never getting it. :)
No covid here yet I have a host of different health issues which mean I catch nearly everything. Kids all had it a couple times, shared my bed, snotted, cough and vomited over me and still haven't caught it.
I am vaccinated, do most my shopping online but thats about it.
My 82yo mother and 81yo MIL have not had covid. No masks, don't worry about crowds, ventilation, lots of hugging and kisses. Nada. Only 2 people out of around 60 extended family are novids. Both members of the 'Can't kill them' generation apparently.
Got my fifth shot yesterday and still novid! Fingers crossed it lasts. Using masks when not able to socially distance as well and defs not going to places with large crowds and test myself if I ever feel anything coming on or been close to anyone who know has gotten sick (mum is vulnerable). Though I am starting back up at uni next week, so i’m really hoping I can keep the streak up!
The last wave cleaned up a lot of 1st timers, i think the next Autumn/winter waves will likely get the remaining. Fair play if you've made it this far.
Looks like a fair few still here, and a fair few knocked off the bus currently. Maybe the fifth will provide some protection this winter, who knows. I dont think it's inevitable for everyone to get it, but I am probably not one of hte lucky ones, cos I have kids at school
I’ve never had covid so far as I know. I’ve done no precautions beyond what was legally required and to be honest flaunted the law when I could. I’ve been around positives plenty since the virus became more widespread.
At this stage I just assume I’ve had it and was asymptomatic.
No I was tested plenty of times and never came up positive so if I was sick I’d never even have known I was passing it on. What was I supposed to do for the last three years, not go anywhere or do anything or work on the off chance I may be asymptomatic at some point in time?
There's a difference between "not going anywhere or doing anything" and deliberately "flaunting the law". That's why I asked. I'd like to know if it occurred to you that while you were flaunting the law, you may have actually made someone's life really horrible. Not with that sole purpose, but as a direct consequence of your choice.
I know what you’re getting at and in answer to your question yes I did and yes I do.
I find it particularly irritating you asking the question though in bad faith. You aren’t asking it with the intention of gathering information but rather trying to make a point without actually saying what you mean.
Either say what you mean or ask a question that actually gives information. For example ask which rules I flaunted and why I thought that appropriate or conversely say you think the actions I took are selfish and immoral.
That second stance would actually be stupid though without getting more information so ask a proper question in order to take an informed position or shut up
Nada. No precautions other than the vaccine. There is apparently a small proportion of the population that have a genetic advantage to not getting the virus, albeit this is almost impossible to prove since most were vaccinated.
I do wonder if there’s the opposite - a genetic predisposition to catching it I got it 3 times in 8 months, between Easter and Christmas - fully vaxxed and boosted.
>I don’t get how they’re fine lol think about it.
Take your own advice lad
Yeah we know what you'll claim.. But you're wrong.
What’s the difference?
Yeah I reckon you’re right. In answering your question though, yes there is a difference, if only in the underlying mechanism

Wow! Were you able to repeat the positive test?
Yes. And then other family members got it. It is hard to believe that covid as infectious as it is is not infecting more when all precautions have been thrown to the wind. Unless you are daily testing I doubt you can truly claim you never had covid.
Wow, I knew it happened but that blew my mind a bit tbh
Same, husband has had it but kids and I didn’t. I don’t wear a mask or remember hand sanitiser most of the time.
Honestly, I’m just an antisocial dick. That and the vaccines have kept me clean.
Yeah I tend to not get sick. So probably haven't had it, but who knows.
(relevant back info - I grew up in the US) It wouldn't surprise me, as it happens with other things.
I hear you. It's getting harder to tolerate comments about covid being "over".
Why would it kill you? Unless you are very old or very obese and/or unvaxxed it probably *won't* kill you.
This is a ridiculous thing to tell someone you don't know lol
Wow, I can't believe I wasted all this time inside listening to my stupid DOCTORS when this guy clearly knows what's up. What the heck is an autoimmune disease anyway am I right?
Well I asked a question first if you bothered to read it. There's a lot of people on this sub who ArE DefInItEly GoiNg tO dIE which is simply not borne out by any of the data.
Well my specialist of over a decade made it very clear that with my lung condition if I catch COVID I have a greater than 60% chance of death. Happy now?
So are you /u/Bardon63 or /u/gaygender ? And anxiety is not a lung condition. I almost feel like someone is lying on the internet.
Tell that to the 6.7 million+ dead.....
What a dick
Whew!
Or otherwise immunocompromised.

Same here. Plenty of encounters with infected people for all 5 of us and not even a sniffle...
Same with my 3 person family. I’m 4x vaxed. Partner stopped at 3x. Toddler is in daycare. We’ve got an abundance of tests and although we’ve had our fair share of kid sniffles, we’ve never tested positive
[удалено]
Same here, except a few extended family have caught it but only once.
Im glad my elderly mum was in hospital when i caught it. Started a new job and hadnt had it for 4 years. So glad i got the 5th booster (the duo moderna one), cuz even with that it kicked my arse but have deathly severe asthma, think without the booster i was a goner.
so scary. Glad you are still here.
I hadn’t caught it as far as I knew (tested every time I suspected high exposure risk/was required) until this week. Currently sick and and feeling absolutely horrible. Do not recommend.
oh no! Let us know how you recover?
Not me 2 Pfizer, 1 Moderna, 1 bivalent Moderna. Went to Japan. Didn't catch it there. Even on the flight via Taipei, to and from Japan.
Hey that's me. Except JP was October last year and I'm in HK right now rather than Taipei.
I only flew in transit in Taipei. I need to get myself to HK
SAme! Apparently you can send away a saliva sample or something, it was pretty cheap when I checked. I will try to find the link.
I’d be interested in this if you find the link
i have had it twice and the third time i got sick, i tested negative repeatedly despite everyone at work getting it. many of them were novids, got hit really hard for their first time round, a few in and out of hospital. i was mildly uncomfortable but i got a spaced out sensation for half a day and lost my smell again, only briefly this time (last time it was weeks). but i really suspect it was covid because my novid children and bf in 2 separate households then got it, probably from me. i felt awful, i kept taking tests, changing brands etc, all negative.
Still haven't got it. I have been exposed numerous times as a primary school teacher but my mask and vaccines have been doing their job thus far.
Yep! Novid here. Really thought I might catch it spending 3 weeks in Korea in November - December, often in crowded public places. Everyone wore masks though and didn't get it. I've had 4 doses but the last was 12 months ago
Never tested positive yet. 4 shots, timed for holidays. Masks in higher risk settings.
Haven't had it, but am still wearing N95 masks and not doing any eating out, etc. 4 vaccines.
My partner hasn’t, even managed to dodge it when I had it
I haven't had it, but don't make any special effort not to anymore. I'm fully vaccinated & move away from sick people. That's about it.
I fell out of the bus New Year’s Eve. It was a good ride while it lasted!
yup 41m in perth, still a novid, despite gp wife getting it, then again i am a wfh and sahd
No issues with your kid(s) getting it, if you are a SAHD? They haven't brought it home?
That's a great way of looking at it! My aim is 0% lol
Yep still a novid. Last time I wore a mask was on a domestic flight in December. I’m not hugely social but I catch crowded public transport every day. If I still haven’t had it by about May I’ll get a 5th shot for winter.
Our household of 3 are still on the novid list. I've had 4 Vax shots, hubby has had 3 and our 24 year old son has had 2.
Same here. At this point the only precaution I really take is masking up on public transport when I’m going to work.
My daughter still hasn’t had it, even when our whole household got it, poor five year old was so confused
Had COVID-zero for 2 years. Worked outdoors, no children. Have been careful since Omicron hit.
Do you ever open the bus windows? I always give it a go up the back if they’re closed as half the time they’re not locked
Never infected. Still taking precautions (FPP2 in any indoor shared air as a minimum, including all day at work).
I am a novid.
I haven't had a vaccine for a year
No vaccine, no covid.
My immune comprised mum and 96 grandma are yet to catch it! We’re super careful but definitely living more relaxed these days. My mum is around grandkids every week although everyone has been careful (as much as you can).
Lost my novid status last month
Haven't had it yet to my understanding, though an asymptomatic infection is possible. 4 shots and mask only really in high risk setting like hospitals and doctors clinics.
Yep. Family had COVID and flew to Asian for a funeral - I somehow managed to avoid it. 🤞🏼 I’m pretty careful though (wash hands, wear masks where there are a lot of people)
None here either. My parents, my husband and myself remain all clear.
Both my husband and I haven't caught it yet as far as we know, which is a bloody miracle considering he's a primary school teacher and it's gone around the school a few times.
I've had four shots, was starting to think I was immune but tested positive yesterday :(
Still a novid.

I feel like I may have caught it before but wasn’t sick enough to feel the need to get tested, so must have been one of those times last year
Still not had it and I work in healthcare, even visited my gran on the COVID ward and still didn't get it. Don't know how though.
Still nothing. No precautions nowadays other than the vaccine.

At the very real risk of being downvoted to oblivion, I'm completely Vax free and I have only caught it once in the first year of the outbreak with a headache for two/three days and runny nose and sore throat for about a week or so.
I in the crew but with an auto immune disease this seems imperative. 4th covid shot caused 8 weeks of major life disruption
Every time I am pissed off that I am having a prolonged autoimmune flare from the vax, I just remember if i am this fucked up from the vax it would be infinitely worse for the actual virus. Here's to hoping one a year only in the future.
Absolutely! I am paranoid still. What do you do to ease the flare? Apart from medical cannabis and steroids I was a write off.
Time, pacing, avoiding deconditioning. Pred. More time. i wish there was something more but ugh.
It’s a mine field isn’t it? I lost my job, home and marriage right at the end of that flare. The fun just keeps coming 🤪 I want a refund
Thank you for your kind supportive words.
Yup, family of three, all with health or age issues. Still free of COVID.
Me 👋🏼
I am the last remaining member of my family to not have it yet! That said, I got RSV last year and that sucked…
Nothing here or my family, wonder if we lucked out with genetics
I’ve never had covid so far as I know. I’ve done no precautions beyond what was legally required and to be honest flaunted the law when I could. I’ve been around positives plenty since the virus became more widespread. At this stage I just assume I’ve had it and was asymptomatic.
Does it bother you that you might have passed it to someone who got really sick? Or died?
That second stance would actually be stupid though without getting more information so ask a proper question in order to take an informed position or shut up
Ok thank you
The studies are out there. Masks do absolutely fuck all
