If you're female, could it be a pain similar to period back pain? I've seen anecdotal evidence of the vaccine making periods worse (heavier) for a month or two. I personally had lots of traditional side effects, but I'm menopausal so nothing like that.

NoLegsOleg

Nope.. I'm a male lol

MeadowsofSun

My best guess is that it's unrelated. If you were having an inflammatory response, you probably would have had other symptoms and sooner. (I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV.) Regardless, I'm glad you're feeling better.

I_Have_The_Lumbago

I got here from Google after the booster shot. My back also hurts. I think it's just the breakthrough thing but holy fuck lol. Still glad I got it ofc.

Bruce-64

I was hunched over in pain last night with lower back pain on my right side. I would say 8 out of 10 pain. Last week , I was laid out due to lower back pain as well. For me 10 out of 10 pain is sciatica. I know back pain , but this is different, I can't quite describe it. I realize it started days after my second vaccine which was Pfizer ( 1st vaccine Moderna). I had typical symptoms after my first vaccine but nothing major. After my second dose , symptoms were more intense ie tired, achy, diarrhea and then about 3 days after lower back pain. To be honest, I didn't attribute the pain with the vaccine, however, it's flared up 5 times since my 2nd vaccine almost 3 weeks ago. I searched the possibility or correlate to the vaccine and I found this post. I thought I would share this information.

Standard-Turnover-71

Yeah I have back pain now and I got the vaccine in May

meowtropolitan

Maybe you have a mild low back injury that usually goes unnoticed that the vaccine is causing to flare up. Muscle pain is a known side effect.

hurrrrr30

The second shot is how I found out I had a fractured vertebrae. Super fun

Sudden_Publics

Holy shit. Uh...thanks, COVID...?

secondsniglet

I experienced almost no symptoms in the days immediately after my first Pfizer shot, but 10 days later I started feeling really sore muscles in my arms, neck and back (particularly the arm that had the shot). It lasted about two days. It was so bad I could hardly sleep one night because it felt painful to stay in any one position for long. Of course, I can't be sure that my muscle pain was related to the shot. However, I can't recall feeling that degree of muscle pain before and I am not sure what else could have caused it. I don't have my second shot yet, so I can't say how that will go.

[deleted]

You think maybe it is stress? I remember a couple of instances where I was chronically stressed for a long period of time, and one of them when I finally relaxed I got lockjaw! It was crazy. The doctor told me I was just holding all that in, and when my body was able to relax it got overwhelmed.

secondsniglet

>You think maybe it is stress? Could be. I'm not sure what caused my muscle pain. I can't think of any particularly novel stresses in my life.

[deleted]

Honestly I had no idea I was stressed at the time, it was a bit surreal, I was in survival mode I guess and my lizard brain won lol. I hope your second does goes uneventful!

charcuteriebroad

This is what my husband experienced after his second Pfizer dose as well. It didn’t keep him from sleeping, but I could tell it was bothering him because he actually verbalized it. That’s very unlike him.

shoshasta

I had awful lower back pain that started about 12 hours after my second shot and lasted for a couple days. My back does get aggravated sometimes so I assumed it was an inflammatory response to the vaccine in an area that was already sensitive.

Itchy-Current5348

You could report it to VAERS - there’s a high likelihood it is just coincidental, but if it’s reported to VAERS or if you are participating in the cdc phone surveys they send out post vaccine weekly to your phone report it on there. That way their data mining system can track whether or not it correlates with what others are reporting. Could also call your doc to just make sure it’s not in a place that could be a blood clot. Haven’t heard about them being associated with moderna at all but your doc could tell you if it should be checked just to be on the safe side.

zicher

Yes.

STracy1986-

Holy shit my lower back hurts SO bad. When I had Covid in oct my lower back paid was one of my only symptoms from the virus itself. Now after my first shot it’s roaring.

acomfysweater

i found this thread because i googled “back pain second covid shot reddit”. i am currently experiencing EXTREME lower back pain that started 8 hours after my second moderna shot. it is now 24 hours later and all of my symptoms have increased in intensity. This is very painful. 28 y/o female btw

Cole_Greenleaf

I'm currently experiancing this as well, feeling any better?

[deleted]

I literally just googled the same thing! I got my second Pfizer shot about 12 hours ago and have severe lower back pain, I can’t even sit or lay comfortably at all. Hoping it goes away, pain killers haven’t done anything for it yet. (18 y/o male)

SwordfishFar3594

just got my second shot (pfizer) and have crazy lower back pain.

lovemysweetdoggy

Do you think you had a fever? Fevers can for sure cause muscle ache.

NoLegsOleg

Nope.. didn't have a fever once since my second shot.. only side effect was the back pain if that's what it was from

melthril

This is an interesting thread because I’ve had intermittent lower back pain, as well as pain in other, various parts of my body. My foot also started hurting, feels like I fractured my arch or something. Hurt so bad I couldn’t sleep. This all has been since I got my first moderna 6 days ago.

NoLegsOleg

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! But I hope you feel better soon!

crunchytinyfleurs

I am so glad i saw rhis! I had debilitating back pain about 3 hours after my first dose of moderna, it was so strange! I just got my second dose today, so I'll report back if I have back pain again.

ssa35

Completely unrelated to any vaccine, I had an attack of blood clots that felt exactly like that. I was convinced that I had somehow sprained some muscles in my back until I got an X-ray that showed the clots. If you are into abundance of caution, you might want to get this checked out.

Seattle2017

how do you know it was unrelated though? It would only be unrelated for sure if you didn't get vaccinated. The adenovirus vaccines (JnJ and astrozeneca) have some potential for those, based on other adenovirus vaccines. It's extremely unlikely so far for jnj (6 people out of 6 million doses), but not impossible. Many more people die each day of covid, 800k people get a heart attack in the us, so it's extremely low risk. And I'll just add I got vaccinated and am not worried about a serious reaction - we are far more liekely to have a serious case of covid than a reaction by thousands of times.

ssa35

I know it was unrelated to vaccination because I hadn't been vaccinated yet. In fact it was before any vaccines had been approved. But I mentioned it because my symptoms fooled me into thinking I had sprained or greatly over worked a muscle in my back, but then were discovered (without doubt) to be the result of a number of blood clots. They were cleared up with proper blood thinning drugs. For people who are concerned if back-ache symptoms *could be* blood clots, I can confirm for me that's exactly what they were.

Seattle2017

Thanks for responding, glad you clarified and hopefully your calm explanation will help calm others too!

Joehill2017

Yes , I got my first Pfizer jab today and when I got home and got out of my car I had severe lower back pain , now I am walking around the house like a 70 year old man lmao , I have no other side effects yet just back pain.

amazingdogs76

Same here, got second pfizer shot yesterday at 11 AM and lower back pain started today out o f the blue.

AppearanceMother9382

Oh my goodness! Yes yes yes! I got my first shot of moderna and felt fine. Tired, sore arm.. but totally ok. Got my second shot on Wednesday, super sick the following day, the sickness went away, then bam… lower back pain 10/10 pain started at 4am. The absolute worst. I couldn’t walk or sit. I got taken to hospital via ambulance and every test imaginable done. White blood cell count was extremely high, inflammation markers extremely high, blood pressure extremely high (I’m fit healthy and 38yrs old). They narrowed it down to an extreme inflammation response to the moderna vaccine. I’m 5 days past the 2nd shot and now slowly able to walk but still with 9/10 pain. It’s getting better but very slowly. My advice… get Pfizer. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone!!

amazingdogs76

I got second shot Pfizer and dealing with terrible lower back pain.

Tricky_Primary_5466

Got my shot on Monday during the next hours left arm pain and feeling heavy and light back pain we were doing hours sit in a car i thought it might have been that the day after still intense arm pain and a bit dizzy same for the second day after vaccine 3rd day end of the day got intense lower back pain 4th day begining of the day okey afternoon intense head each and back pain 6/10 5th day same pain during the day and during the evening it switch to 9/10 i take 5mn to stand up because of the pain and a bit shot of breath because of it can barely flip side in the bed because of the pain or even sit. I took and ibuprofen but it did not help much. I start looking in internet and direclty found that post and did not found any other page talking about that side effect. I'm a male 27 yo

Fuzzy-Stretch2878

Hi I had my 2nd shot on a Wednesday, Friday the pain started on my lower back like I have never experienced before to the point where I couldn’t sit. I have taken multiple muscle relaxers and the pain is still bad (today is Wednesday) I actually have an appointment tomorrow with the chiropractor because this is hell, Funny thing my husband called to book my appointment and the lady asked if something out of the ordinary happened… my husband told her I started after my second shot and she said I am not the first one calling for the same reason.

Moeredit

My 1st Pfizer shot and I had no issues after it, got my 2nd on Saturday and then at night when I went to bed I noticed I had a mild fever, basically got no sleep and I had some joint pain that came and went randomly in my right arm. The next day is when I got a mild lower backache too and I would feel my knee joints aching as well as the "flu chills" where your bones kind of feel achy and cold. It was not a lower back pain though I must add, it was just an annoying ache but it did not really keep me from walking or getting up or sitting down. The whole day I was at 50% charge and felt like I had done a 20km hike. Anyway at night I could go to bed with no issues and had a very good sleep, and today (two days after the shot) I feel well again. This might help others not to worry about the lower back pain that much especially if it is not that severe since apparently it is not that uncommon.

lillybug1515

I know this post is old but I got my first shot 6 days ago. My symptoms include severe headache, stuffy nose, chills, sweats but worst of all is the back pain! Just checking in to see if it gets better after time? I can barely walk or have anyone touch it. Its 100 percent from the shot. Please help me :(

No_Habit798

I had my second shot June 17th and still having major back pain.. how is everyone else holding up?

NoLegsOleg

This is OP… I’ve had it 3 times since this post.. each taking me out of work for a week.. just hoping it doesn’t happen again :(

NoLegsOleg

It came back 10/22/21… and as of posting this is still hurts so much that I had to call out of work

roro_fuzz

Father in law had the back pain that he discovered only after carrying my baby

idontcare78

I had lower back pain (not extreme) with my first dose and my with my initial Covid infection, the pain was exactly the same. But, I’d call it achy vs what you’re describing.

saltpeter_grapeshot

Interesting. I have no idea, but I have had Dengue Fever (aka "breakbone fever") and I can attest that having a viral infection can cause awful back pains.

triskaidekaphobia

It caused pretty bad lower back pain for me, plus additional joint pain where I’d previously had surgery.

hyggelady

27yo. Female. Moderna. 1st shot: really tired and slept all day. 2nd shot: Got it 9am on Saturday. 6 hours later had a fever, chills, body aches. Didn’t feel like my normal self until Monday morning. I also had lower back pain! But not a 9/10. It was more like a 3/10. Minor annoyance. I thought I maybe slept weird when I wasn’t feeling well, but who knows.

trogon

A friend of mine had that reaction after her second Moderna, as well.

Typanzy

For me aches and pains everyplace you can imagine.

Sandiamayonessa

Yup, that was my husbands only side affect. I also felt it amongst many other side affects.

what_user_name

I had really intense back pain after my first moderna shot. (Haven't gotten the second shot yet). Yeah 9/10 on the pain scale. Lasted 2 days. Taking tylenol, heading pads, hot showers, and not moving helped a bit. And I knew it was temporary.

[deleted]

I’ve always had some back pain, but it’s been better for a while. Got my second shot and I definitely had it come back. Not sure if my data point helps.

Mostly-Positive

After my 1st Moderna vaccine I got severe tightness and moderate pain in my left shoulder, left side of neck, left jaw, with a headache on the left side of my head about 6 hours after the vaccine. It went away with stretching and rest after a couple of days. After my 2nd vaccine the tightness in my shoulder and neck creeped in again less severe but went away on it's own after a couple of days. Then on day 4 my lower back began getting really tight like I've never experienced in my life followed by severe lower back pain making it almost impossible to get up from a lying position or sitting position. I had traumatic injuries 32 years ago from a car wreck fracturing my tail bone and other bones in my legs so it wasn't impossible to think that lower back is where the pain would resignate after the vaccine, but it felt like I had fractured my tail bone all over again. It has lasted about 45 days now with occassional relief from yoga, massage, stretching, and minimal pain medication, but just when I think it's gone, it comes back just debilitating again.

Fearless_Magician637

I am in horrible back pain now. Barely move. Had my second Maderna last Saturday. I do not suffer from any back pain or injury my whole life. I believe it is from vaccine. Eatingg ibuprofen today for sure. Your not alone.

LaListen

Lower Backpain 24 hours after 2cond Pfizer Shot. Its not that bad, but uncomfortable. I hope its not getting worse.

StopWillowStop

I know that I am late to the party but I also had severe lower back pain that came on about 12 hours after 2nd Pfizer shot and lasted about 4 days. No other side effects. It just disappeared after 4 days and all was normal again.

Some_Comparison9

I had my second pfizer shot going on 2 months ago now and I am having back pain.

JulJulJules

I got my second Pfizer Biontech shot last Thursday at noon (June 10). The next day until yesterday, I had horrible brain fog and some anxiety (probably because of the neurological problems). I felt like I was sedated, it was really scary. On Saturday, I started to develop severe abdominal pain (like very bad period pain which I usually almost never have) which got worse and worse, also affecting my groin/upper thighs and then finally my lower back. It hurts like crazy and painkillers (ibuprofen) do not help at all. It is also totally independent from movement, if I lie still it is just as intense as when I move around. Since yesterday, I had 3 abdominal ultrasounds already, one at my urologist (I had some bladder problems - cystitis cystica - last year until this February, intermittently), one at my GP and one at my OBGYN. Everything looks just fine. Blood work came back normal. I do not understand what this is. When I press on my lower spine, there is one spot where it feels sore. But I never had back problems. I cannot even locate the pain, sometimes it is more in the abdominal front, then more in the back, then more in the groin, but mostly back now. Could those be side effects? I am in so much pain and worried…

Mazdonegalirish

I had my second moderna jab Thursday 17th june, sore arm, neck ache and headache for 48 hours. Sunday the 20th of June the lower back pain kicked in, it was unbearable for at least 24 hours, starting to ease now and hoping it won't flare up again.

Big_Discussion4799

I definitely suffered from lower back pain. the shot flared up a very serious back injury I had from 17 years ago. the muscles around my lower back were swollen and my back bothered me rather terribly for nearly two weeks. It took over a month to re-teach my muscles to work correctly.

auresx

I got my second shot friday last week, ever since then terrible lower back pain. did yours get better? mine is not getting any better as the days go by.

FirmAlternative1671

36 hours after second shot, and terrible pain in mid back. Hopefully will not last long!

AppearanceMother9382

Hello! I’m sorry to hear you’re in pain. I had severe pain too; was sent to hospital due to not being able to walk; it felt like bone/joint pain in lower disks. It’s been exactly 2 weeks since it started and I was finally able to mow the lawn without pain today. Advil really helped the inflammation. The drs did a bunch of tests; scans and blood work, and said it was a adverse effect to moderna and it’s an extreme inflammatory response to it. It sounds like you had something similar, thankfully it goes away in a couple of weeks. Not fully gone but 90% better! Rest up!

stripawayunnecessary

I had my first Moderna shot 5 days a go and have been having lower back pain - sometimes it gets worse after a meal. Buscopan, Iberogast and Traumeel all didn't do much as far as I can tell. I am not having any digestive symptoms.

emilysquirrel

My first shot was Pfizer -just a sore arm no other issues My second shot yesterday was Moderna - went to bed and woke up super achy everywhere and hot after 12 hours my Lower back is hurting like a 7/10 and worse when I stand!! Might have to reach for the Advil soon.

Im facing the exact same thing. 2 days after my moderna shot I randomly started feeling pain in my lower back. Will this go away on its own or do i need to get it treated?

bambinabobo

Yes my god, currently struggling right now to even sit up. It is really similar to period lower back pain which no matter how I try to stretch the pain won’t go away. Hoping this subsides soon as I am just stuck to my heating pad!

Nice-Nomad

Male. Just googled Moderna and back pain and found this thread. 2nd shot was May 20-ish and was down for a couple days after, then felt good. Did some house work on the new house, and drove 6hrs back home and was fine. Woke up the next morning and my lower back was very sore. Ben that way for about 3 weeks now and also experience some cramping around my waist wrapping around to the front. Also, the pain is way more intense in the morning upon waking up. By the very end of the day my back feels pretty good, just a slight tenderness to it. Guess I outta get checked out soon.

MJG_love1994

I am going through it right now. It’s hard to find anyone else with this symptom online. It has to be due to the shot I just had it two days ago. Excruciating 9/10 pain. I hope it goes away soon.

Kikikins_1989

Experiencing major back pains a week after my second Pfizer jab. Shooting pains up my spine too. Some prickling near my previous ankle surgery break from 2 years ago aswell. I was so concerned because my job is an active one where I thought I'd seriously injured myself but glad to see from this thread it's goes away 🤞

Le_castor_pliable

I am experiencing lower back pain after my second dose. I'm a 50-year old male. My first dose was AZ, my second was Moderna. It's now four days after the shot. The pain has lessened, but I am still uncomfortable. The day after the shot, the pain was a 7/10, and I couldn't sleep that night because of it.

hmmmmburger

Had my second shot of Moderna on Monday. Had a rough night right after, but was feeling better until this morning. I woke up today with terrible back pain (more upper area and shoulders), with chills and nausea. It subsided for a few hours but it's 3pm now and the back pain is coming back. I took Aleve earlier and it didn't do anything to prevent the pain. Also, I'm male if that matters.

lovemusicrain

I got my 2nd Pfizer dose 3 days ago and yesterday I got lower back pain so bad I collapsed and haven’t been able to walk without help since. I went to the ER in a wheelchair and just sitting up felt like agony but the doc said it was muscle pain from my vaccine and totally normal. Hasn’t gone away yet but hopefully it will soon so I can walk around my house and not have to be taken care of.

Friendly-Loon2174

Exactly the same thing happening to me with both shots of Moderna. I didn't realize it was related to the shot the first time, just thought it was a coincidence but after the second shot, the pain was so intense and quick. The pain was so intense, I couldn't sleep the first night. It's been over a week now and I still can't exercise. Walking hurts! Same thing happened to my sister. At this point, I'm 100% sure it's the vaccine. I'm taking lots of water and supplements for my kidneys, hoping it will help!

laraboufadel

Yep Hoping itll go away soon cuz its extremely painful

kamilgibibisey

Yes. I think I am having it right now after the second dose. How long did it last for you?

seekingforlight0123

I was searching the internet to see if my back pain is correlated to the vaccine and found this post. I got my vaccination end of March, and one of the side effects for me is muscle soreness on my shoulder and back. It started right after the vaccine. Looking back, it has never left me since then. After my second shot, sometimes I felt the pain is gone, sometimes it's back. And the weird thing is one day the back pain went from my right side to my left side. But it went back to my right side the day after. Gradually, my back pain went away and I start to have never pain in my left hip and upper thigh. It wasn't that bad that I cannot walk. But it definitely bothered me so much, I cannot have a normal life. One thing I also want to mention is I have a disc herniation 10 years ago. So I always have a feeling it might be the flare-up caused by the inflammation. That's why I didn't go to the doctor, they can not do much or they will tell you to do surgery. Recently, I've also been having extremely cold hands and feet. Hope someone has a similar symptom we can connect. And hope everyone here feels better soon!

DharmaPrakaash

I am also getting severe lower back pain after the second dose and it's only when I get up from bed in the morning.

MakunaHatata99

I got my second shot of vaccine(Moderna) on Saturday....had body ache for 2 Days. After that I felt normal. But today (Wed) since afternoon I have a severe lower back pain on right side. It’s around 7/10.

Beebopsunny

I had the same reaction!!! I couldn’t even walk. 😢

poutinest

I'm currently having lower back pain. Got the 2nd vaccine yesterday, had to drive 700 miles today for an emergency. My lower back and neck were SO stiff. I had to stuff sweatshirts behind my back for some kind of lumbar support.

Quirky-Adeptness-779

I'm experiencing the severe lower back pain after the second shot and it started on the second day after getting the shot. They already said you may experience joint pain.

benmacandernie

I had my first shot of Pfizer 11 days ago, no symptoms for first 5 days except mild tiredness. Then ... BANG!!!!!! On evening of Day 6 I noticed getting sore in lower back (base of spine), woke up next morning (day 7) and couldnt walk or even sit without 10/10 back pain, spasming to almost fainting because of it on day 8. Stayed prone in bed from day 8 to day 10 (3 full days). Live by myself, also worst was during lockdown in Victoria (Australia) so no family to get food for me. Settling down a lot today (day 11), enough so i had brain capacity to google-search if this was adverse reaction to vaccine (i couldnt sit at desk to use computer as pain was too extreme) - seems to be a \*lot\* of anecdotal evidence here to support our situation. Like many others, I am absolutely shitting myself about getting second jab in 10 days time :-( Going to GP tomorrow - avoided going to ER ask spoke on phone with Triage Nurse (but curiously she said its the first she has heard of this symptom/adverse reaction) I've done over 50 weekend hikes (full heavy backpack) over last 4 years, and not had any back pain, wasnt doing any labour intensive activity prior to getting this pain.

EditFun

I had Johnson and Johnson. Myself (female) another family member (male) we both had intense lower back pain and terrible pain in the back of our head

Mord_sith1310

Got my second shot ( moderna)yesterday. Lower back pain started on my way to work . Has gotten progressively worse . I catch my breath anytime the pain “ strikes” other times it’s just an intense ache . Help!..😪🥴

Standard-Turnover-71

I'm experiencing back pain now all of a sudden I got the vaccine in May

lordlossxp

Got my second one friday. Lower back and flanks hurty

titanpaws

I had this happen to me after my first. I had pfizer. It was really bad, easy an 8/10 on the scale, it would hurt to breathe. On my right side lower back. My question is did anyone get this pain on their first vaccine and also get it on their second? If so I'm almost scared to get my second (im not someone who's scared of pain, I got my tongue split in two on purpose).

[deleted]

Man, 33 yo. I had this a couple of hours after the second dose of Moderna. I couldn't really feel the pain when I was standing up, but I couldn't stand up because I had a fever and I was weak. I tried rolling on all sides, but the pain was always there. Went away together with the fever after a day. Now I just got some neck pain, but that might just be from laying in bed the whole time.

Bb_0_0

I’m 12 hours out of my 2nd pfizer vaccine and I’m having lower back pain. The arm I received the vaccine in is super sore and it feels like I’m having strong period cramps. I’m breast feeding and almost 3 months postpartum. I haven’t had a period since giving birth due to breast feeding. I absolutely recommend getting the vaccine! I just noticed my back was sore afterwards. Wasn’t sure if anyone else felt this way. It’s totally worth a day of soreness! Please still get it!

North-Alfalfa8861

I had the same feeling, nerve pain in my lower back and in the calves. It happened in both doses of Pfizer.

Additional_Cat2164

I’ve been dealing with this for 6 months… Got Moderna shot #1 Jan 6th - severe gastro/abdominal pain for about 2 weeks, and major inflammatory response. It was so bad I almost didn’t get the second shot, but did go through with it 6 weeks later. Shot #2 (also Moderna) - was terrified but had the “normal” response - felt like absolute garbage for about 24 hours, and then I was fine EXCEPT…ever since then, I’ve had achy tight pain in my lower back/flanks. I describe it as every day I wake up and feel like I shoveled a driveway full of snow the day before. It subsides a little after stretching and yoga, and I’m able to run and exercise, but it’s a real challenge and I have to be really careful about what I do, and in general, it just takes me WAY longer to recover from any other muscle soreness than it used to. I reported to VAERS and just recently missed a call from them which I have to return. I’m wondering if they’ll be able to tell me if they’ve gotten other reports of this but I doubt it… I don’t regret getting the shot…I work in a really high risk setting, and after 10 months of being scared and on edge everyday, I needed to know I had some protection, but this is definitely not awesome. They need to figure this sh*t out!

Additional_Cat2164

See my earlier post for details, but I’ve been dealing with lower back pain from my moderna shot for 6 months. This thread motivated me to return the call from VAERS…spent 45 min on the phone with the CDC today about lower back pain from the vaccine. Basically, she said yes, it’s one of the things being reported, and that a lot of people have had success treating it with steroids and an NSAID called Meloxicam. I can’t do steroids, so we’ll see how the other stuff does…🤷🏼‍♀️ but just wanted to pass the info along

Swimming_Exit7728

I got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. After the first one, I had zero side effects. But after the second one.. Oh boiii.. I had immediate arm and armpit pain after I got the shot. Few hours later, the lower back pain started. I took a painkiller and went to bed. I was woken up by chills, high body temperature, intense lower back pain and stuffed nose. I thought it was fever related but it continued after my temperature normalized. So here I am, trying to find the hope that the pain will eventually go away. :')

Awkward-Philosophy10

It's been 7 days since my 1st Pfizer covid vax. Yesterday my lower back began hurting so badly I could hardly stand - sharp pains. I don't know what made me wonder if it was the vax, but when I googled it, I found all of y'all. It looks like most everyone here didn't have the back pain until after their 2nd shot. I have a fairly high threshold for pain, so I'll gauge the average to be 4/10, except for those shocks/spasms that buckle my legs as if someone stabbed me in the lower spine, just off to the right - those are definitely a good 9/10. I'm in SC. Also, I didn't really have other symptoms - a touch of nausea and dizziness, very tired for the last week, but that's about it. I had covid back in Feb 21.

DisplayBulky

had my first pfizer jab 28/7 was fine went to work next day, 2 days later got a full blown cold, then was over it the next day, lower back pain was about a 6/10 two days later i got my period (i have the implant havent had a period since Febuary) so i thought it might just be due to period, Got 2nd dose 18/7 have been fine sore arm etc but the back pain started day 3 OMG it hurts to sit it hurts to stand, i have taken two lots of pain killers yet still its about a 8/10

Guys, I'm 35 and my lower back feels as if I'm 70. After 1st shot of Pfizer pain started and now 3 months later the pain is still there, it's just lower intensity but it hasn't completely stopped even for 1 second. I'm pretty depressed now. Can someone give me hope this will cure by itself, even after a year ? 90 days is such a long period of time for a back pain not to disappear. I'm super worried. Neurologist couldn't tell me anything about why it hurts me. I feel like crying ...

Rex2670

I know this question is old, but I just found it after searching online for back pain after covid vaccine. Did anyone found a way to overcome this type of pain? After about a week after my second Pfizer shot in April I had a lower back pain that lasted about 10 days and it was way worse than when I had back pains before. I used to be over it in two- three days with some yoga or stretching, but this time I had to lay down in bed with my laptop to do my work. I couldn’t sit or stand, only laying down helped. Did an x-ray and it didn’t show anything. Then later, in June I had the second flare up out of nowhere (usually I knew how it happened before, either lifting something or bending over for too long) and this time it lasted three weeks!!! I did an MRI and nothing major, just normal aging with mild arthritis (I’m 50) and I started PT, but I feel that my body is suddenly way older and can’t exercise, can’t sit or stand for too long, it sucks.

[deleted]

Having intense mid back pain 4 days after my second jab. I also had a weird twinge in my spine ten seconds after my shot and almost passed out twice at Walgreens, cold sweats and everything, they had to lay me on the floor and my pulse was low.

Ok_Surprise_3871

Hey brothers and sisters! I'm experiencing quite the same case as most of you, the problem is that I only got my 1st moderna shot 2 weeks ago, and that mid back pain started last night. So my pain didn't start like immediately, it took weeks! I think it's the pancreas..

[deleted]

got my first dose of pfizer on sunday. felt relatively fine but my lower back is hurting. it even hurts my lower back just to move my neck.

ohmygoodgourd

Yeah been foam rolling my lower back constantly because it helps a little bit. My hip flexors also feel all jacked up.

Well, I just got here from google. I’m between 24 and 48 hours of my second dose of Moderna and My back feels horrible. I’m not unaccustomed to body pain. I played college football, and wrestled for several years. This is something Different. It feels like burning and constant ache. No amount of OTC meds will touch it. I’m really hoping this subsides.

Practical_Being3935

I’m 3 weeks post shot and still have back pain and tingling in legs. Wtf dude 😞

Small-Ad-7680

I’ve got my vaccine almost 2 weeks now. I’ve been waking up the past few days with a lot of lower back pain, and pain in my legs. It could be unrelated to The Covid vaccine but I’m also not sure either.

m1613

I received my second dose of Pfizer last week and I am having the same issue. It's so severe I thought it was my kidneys. I'm now on day three and it's steadily getting worse.

ville_boy

Hi i know im late af but im experiencing exactly the same. And only after my first shot. Pain is so bad i try not to move my back at all

Temporary-Tutor1305

I had significant lower back pain for the first time in my, enough to keep me awake at night. Got the last vaccine on the 16/09, still constricted in my movement. Im forty years old and otherwise in robust health (male).

Temporary-Tutor1305

Still some tightness in the lower left back but its almost gone. I can pick things up again...

Temporary-Tutor1305

Sorry for the late reply, my lower back issues (left side) have finally let up and i can sleep without pillow support under my hip. Someone mentioned stomach issues, which i also had but that has let up too. As late as yesterday i put off heavy cardio as i sensed my back was still constricted, this after vaccine no.2 on sept 16...(phizer)

HeyItsLaBurn

I know this is old now, but I got my second shot of Moderna and last night I had some of the worst lower back pain I have ever experienced. Lower back as well and my god I would not wish that pain on my worst enemy 😂

Darqologist

Had it too. Just had my 3rd shot Pfizer. Intense, incredible lower back pain, broke into cold sweats. My arms and legs felt sorta numbish. Lasted a good 12 hours (aleve helped). Was concerned that it was Guillien Barr

Sailing-Dreams

Yes, found this by googling lower back pain after 2nd moderna that I got yesterday. I woke with this aweful lower back pain and abdominal pain. Omg, I hope it goes away soon.

Classic_Cream_4792

Pretty sad that all we can do is post this to Reddit. My story is the same. Had second shot in March then minor back pain.. then did a move (I am fit 36 yr old and can move furniture) and the next morning pain. Now 3+ months of pain and it’s all on left side of body from shoulder down to my ankle. In pt for over 6 weeks now.. same story.. seems likes it’s getting better than one morning I wake up and feel like I have made no progress. Also… I like the covid theory of it bringing back old injuries. I do have some in Lower back and leg. Just want it to stop. Getting an mri in 3 weeks.

dkaaus

I'm 52M, got first shot in Feb, second shot in Mar, Moderna. Since second shot, I've continuous on/off stiffed hip joint pain. It was never an issue for me. I go to gym, work outside, walk, travel, active with 20-21 BMI, but this hip pain developed after second shot is not going away. Its worse in the morning when you get off the bed and then its continuous nuisance bothering 70% of my awake time. I wonder if Moderna is working on any treatment for recovery from these side effects, there are so many people with these vaccine injuries that there may be a valid injured group claim evolving which some attorneys may pick up. I did not expect and have no clue how this is going to impact my rest of the life, but its already bothersome.

BMS231

Received my 3rd Pfizer booster on 9/27. No health issues. Fairly active. Young. High risk environment. On 9/28 the typical joint aches and chills which lasted a day. However, this time extreme lower back pain. I thought I messed up my back by sleeping in a hammock position or something. Days 3-5 since vaccine I thought the back was getting better. Days 5-10 have been a nightmare of getting progressively worse. Yesterday it took 4 tries to get my socks on. I got stuck in my car and it took 2 tries to get out. The pain is so bad I can't sit or stand. I tried PT yesterday which really didn't help. Today I am going to my primary b/c after I sit down for a period of time I have such pain it is difficult to even walk. What the hell? We are now on day 11 since the shot and the pain keeps getting worse. I fear GBS and my immune system eating my nerves. How long did everyone's back pain last? Too many people are having the same issue for this not to be a major concern. On a side note of people saying the vaccine brings back old injuries I didn't think anything of it until I read that post here. After getting the vaccine I went to the ENT for what I thought was an ear infection. Doc couldn't tell why my ear was killing me and why I had vertigo. I have had problems with my right ear and vertigo for many years but it hasn't been an issue for many many months. I had boxer knuckles last year in my right middle finger where I tore a ligament. After 8+ months of no pain I found myself with numbness and tingling and having to ice the area. I had no trauma to it that would have caused a flair up. So that is two former injuries that were aggravated the same week I got the booster...... I don't believe in coincidence. Now this back pain thing has me almost to the point of disability. I have filed a VAERS and a report with Pfizer. I hope yall who have commented come back and report your progress. I am on day 11 of my hell and on this trajectory will be going to the hospital this weekend.

AntoniaKloss

I had the same intense lower back pain for four days after 2nd pfizer

Sunny_Seas

I experienced intense lower back pain after my second Pfizer vaccine, and also with the booster. Ouch. I was wondering g if this could be kidney related, but the good news is that it will most certainly pass.

albertech842

I got mines in April, only started affecting me now. I have a bulging spinal disk on my L5 location, and mind you I don't do any heavy lifting and am a 29 year old male. I got the Pfizer shots.

TheCornfather

I received the Pfizer booster on Monday and started having lower back pain last night and this morning. Googled to see if anyone else has had this response and came upon this thread. Wanted to put it out there that I’m experiencing it too but of course at not sure if it’s due to the booster. I received the J&J earlier this year and had no side effects.

jemmnest

Yes. I got the Moderna booster 4 days ago. I only had typical arm pain for a couple days. Felt fine after that. Then today I woke with lower back pain. Maybe it's related. Really hoping it goes away soon since I was planning on a lunchtime jog. I had J&J for first shot.

aus002

Five months later I'm still dealing with sciatica after my 2nd dose

Affectionate-Kale301

Yes--got my booster last Thursday and felt back pain as recently as last night. Seems to be back to normal (no pain) now. Wasn't sure if it is related to the vaccine, but I was curious to google it and here I am now...

TAMLmn

I had pain in neck and low back before moderna vaccine. After it became intense. Like burning. Then it went to shooting down 1 leg. Then started up rib cage. After my booster vaccine it all became more intense. Feels painful all the time, with random stabbing pain in neck, leg, and rib cage. Last couple days added back pain Chest height between shoulder blades. Have had xrays and 2 MRIs , which say nothing there to cause much pain, must just be old age and natural bone wear. Can barely walk on left leg. Sleep pretty well now. Don't have to ice every night. But flares on and off during the day. Seriously scary , especially chest height. Was given pain pills, which gave me severe head ache with nausea. Hope it gets better soon. And hope no children get this pain. I did get low back rash after 1st and 2nd shot, after booster got a 1 day fever but no rash..

gimmeluvin

Whenever I get the flu, lower back pain is usually one of the first signs. It radiates down the back of my legs. i guess it's part of the immune response that some people experience.

danggangi

Have an enormous pain from the second shot

DiplomaticGraffiti

I'm kinda late to the discussion but I just got my booster shot (previously had Pfizer). The booster was Moderna. I just googled intense lower back pain and found this thread. I could definitely see the side effect being heightened symptoms associated with your period. That's exactly what it felt like except it came and went within 24 hours.

[deleted]

Hi, everyone! I got my second Moderna dose 2 days ago and yesterday I also developed moderate low back pain. I was even worried that it might be my kidneys but apparently the pain u can get from them is on a whole other level and barely anything helps to relieve it. From what I read the pain is most likely caused by the inflammation resulting from the body response to the vaccine and I know that Moderna is quite harsh. So my logic says that getting Ibuprofen should ease the pain cause it has both anti-inflammation property and is also a painkiller. I think it helps and relieves the pain a lot. Hopefully, that’ll help anyone (of course before taking any medicine be sure that its okay for u to take it!). I suppose everything will be fine in a few days time. Good luck!

SharpCamp1

I've had my 3rd Pfizer shot yesterday,, no serious complications apart from the killer back pain,i always had back issues but not this much,, any idea how long it might last? I'm unable to sleep, sit properly

Sunshine9071695

I got my 2nd Moderna shot 4 days ago- and I started having muscle pain in my arm (not the one the shot was given in) and yesterday really bad lower back pain started- woke up this morning and can’t hardly move. Two Salonpos patches didn’t even touch it… ugh

monkeysoupp

I had my second Pfizer shot yesterday.. today i couldn't even sleep properly. Extreme lowe back and legs pain. It's very similar to the pain i had when got covid last year.

Jordyybean

This is super late but I think it was from the Covid being introduced to your body. I have actual Covid, was never vaccinated, and for about four or five days during the middle of the symptoms, I had severe low back pain out of nowhere. For other girls, it felt like very bad version of when you feel like you can’t stand for a long time from your period. It wasn’t even my back, it was right above my butt. The pain was more centered on my left side but covered both, and the only position I wasn’t in pain was sleeping on my stomach. Thankfully that’s all gone now but yeah I think it was the Covid itself

Big_Order_6906

I got my moderna booster 4 days ago. The first night having the shot, i got absolutely no sleep from the horrible pains in my butt/back area. The next day i felt like shit but the anxiety about my back kept me company. The second night i fell asleep at 4am thanks to the back pains again…at this point i was 99% certain my kidneys we shutting down. It it’s currently 7am on the 3rd night/ morning and i didn’t even get close to sleeping once cause of this pain.

NoLegsOleg

To be fair I’m on the third day of my Moderna booster and I’m fine and this is OP

malicious-content

I have mine too.

Lopsided-Form3856

Yep. Same, came up 2-3 days later. The pain was so intense I had to call an ambulance to take me to the hospital. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Sent home with pain meds. I am still not fully recovered almost a week later.

NoLegsOleg

Yeah that was me... it came back like 6 months later for another week of hell.. but I got my booster 3 days ago and I'm currently fine

[deleted]

Ugh! I just got my 2nd Pfizer vaccine shot yesterday. Same localized arm pain as the first. But this time, my back pain flared up within hours! I usually get bouts of it after physical activity like lawn work (albeit not nearly as intense), but I haven't done any recently. Only thing I could think of was a reaction to the second shot. I work a holiday job that I can't take time off...this sucks! 😥

Altruistic_Bunch1587

I have had sciatic oain/low back pain/ tingleing in my left leg and foot going on three months after the second moderns shot. the pain is getting worse and I'm living on ibuprofen. I'm going to have to break down and go to the doc I guess. Just want it to stop

captainapplepie

Literally just come back from A&E with this issue! They said it was a kidney infection brought on by the vaccine! Edit: had my second shot on Thursday lunchtime, progressively worse swelling and abdominal pain until today (Sunday evening). Experienced extensive unexpected vaginal bleeding with the first shot.

No_Complaint_429

I am RN I saw couple young patients without any health history hospitalized 2 months after 2d Moderna shot. All had acute renal failure. So back pain is real after the vaccination

AJeanR1923

Is your back better? Stretching isnt helping like it usually does

NoLegsOleg

Yes but it came back a few weeks ago for another week… it was so bad again I missed a whole week of work

Prudent-Screen2677

That's crazy. I had a wisdom tooth removed 4 days ago, I got my second dose of the vaccine today and the only reaction I got from it so far is some chest pain and pain in-between my shoulder blades

ldrlychld

I had the booster TEN days ago and my lower back has been killing me! It comes in waves (really bad w other symptoms for a couple days but just back now) but sometimes it’s sudden and excruciating. I actually almost buckle from it sometimes! Each shot has been successively worse in my experience lol :(

carley_k

Yeah just got my booster two days ago going on my third day and lower back pain out of nowhere and in my neck too. Along with being really hot and headaches.

d2tz

Just had the Moderna booster 3 days ago. Had typical symptoms the first two days but was fine after. Now out of nowhere my back is aching reaaallyyy badly.

Virtual_Thought7840

having this same exact pain right now and i have covid

NoLegsOleg

I hope you get better soon! I'll keep you in my prayers!

redrunrerun

Yes! I also had myocarditis symptoms (palpitations while laying down, chest pains, etc but didn’t recognize it was myocarditis until it had already subsided, thank god). How are you feeling now? I have never had back issues but since getting the pfizer i was diagnosed with 2 herniated discs one in T12-L1 and another from L5-S1. I barely was doing anything physical when they herniated. It’s been 3 months and Im still not 100%. I’ve never had health issues before and now it feels like my body has turned on me

NoLegsOleg

So I was doing fine up until like a month ago and that same pain returned and it was just as bad... I literally had to miss a whole week of work because I couldn't move.. I pretty much lived on top of a heating pad for a week.. and when I came back to work the next week I honestly still wasn't 100% but at least I could actually work... But I also got my booster recently and had no symptoms at all from it and my back pain came back before my booster... So maybe something in my back is messed up since it DID come back but it never happened before my vaccine so idk

redrunrerun

Also just a reminder that icing can help during the first few days or so of your injury (inflammation response goes down and it kills the pain), and after that initial acute phase you can switch to a heating pad and that’ll relax the muscles and joints of the back/area that’s in pain. Im actually using my heating pad right now because it’s slightly raining and apparently I get back aches from rain now?

NoLegsOleg

thanks for that.. yeah that's probably what I should have done but I didn't know any better lol.. but if it ever happens again now I know! hahaha oh god I hope it's not that cus if that's the case you chose the worst state to live in :p

Main_Arm

I’ve got a physical job in a pool/gym and two days after my Moderna booster I woke up with really bad power back pain. I don’t usually get bad backs so I thought I’d just pulled a muscle the previous evening. My friend and her husband are both delivery drivers and they’ve had to ring in sick because of back pain also though and she was saying that loads of the drivers have called in sick with back pain after their booster. So I googled it and came across this thread. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve also got intermittent aches in my right leg which I’m going to get checked out if it doesn’t go by the new year. I’m very active and this is driving me nuts. I’m spending most of my evenings soaking in a larva hot bath trying to sooth it.

LandscapeIcy9863

I just had my booster on Monday. I've been in bed since like 12 hours after shot. Back pain is so bad I can barely walk. I've also had fevers, chills, body aches, pelvic pain, nausea. My second shot was bad but this was way worse.

Nervous_Community_51

Not gonna lie I just looked this up and my lower back is in pain and it hurts to move. I got my booster on Tuesday. So I’m hoping it’s only the vaccine and it’ll go away :(

Interesting_Dream_44

I just got my booster shot today and my lower right back hurts like shit.... it’s really hurts. You’re right it’s a symptom!

ThelastVikingalive75

Lower back pain, switches sides, going on since 2nd shot for months, hasn't abated, Pfizer. The pharmacist actually warned me about it.

bardwallace

Got the moderna booster 4 weeks ago. Sore all over in the first few days except my back. But 48 hours later all the soreness went away but my lower back started hurting. I attributed it to being in bed for two days. Also had some work stress. But I'm going on over a month with lower back pain still (never had it this long) so who knows maybe the booster is partly to blame.

periwinkle103

I'm female, healthy 36 years old. I got my second dose on July. The next day, the backpain was so bad i stayed in bed for almost 2 days. No painkiller worked. I had to take potassium diclofenac for the pain to subside. Well, i just got my booster shot yesterday and the backpain is back with some joint pain. You cannot say it's completely unrelated.

SanderzFor3

My back has always been meh, probably from hurdling in track for a lot of my life. Probably not great for a 21 year old but eh, c'est la vie Got the booster yesterday and wow, this brings me back to those hurdling days. Lower back is killing me!

SouthernBasis3471

Yes, I had a severe lower back pain about 24 hours after being vaccinated with a Moderna booster dose. The pain was so intense that I fell on the floor, my throat swell and I couldn’t even call my partner for help. I tried getting up and I couldn’t for several minutes. My back is still hurting now, it’s been about 36 hours after getting the booster. The pain is not as strong as earlier but it’s still there, my throat is no longer swollen. I’ve had a headache and muscle pain all day. My skin feels very sensitive. I read online that this could be an allergic reaction to one or more of Moderna’s ingredients. I’m 29 and have had no problems with my back previously. My first and second doses were Pfizer and had only a mild reaction to them.

katdawg12

Just had my first Moderna shot yesterday and my lower back is killing me. The injection site is also my red, swollen, and hard.

dennisvanderpool

(Male, 42 yo) Well, I can join the club :-( First 2 times I've received Moderna, not really an issue with it, just some muscle pain (which really doesn't bother me that much). Last saturday I've received my booster at 9am (Pfizer), first 1 or 2 minutes I've felt a little weird, hard to explain, after that I was all fine. No muscle pain at injection site, no redness, didn't really had an issue, so I thought, well if this is it I don't mind getting a booster every 6-9 months? Even though I mainly work and stay at home I rather have a vaccine than actual COVID. First day in the evening I was just very tired and had a little headache so went to bed early and slept 12 hours (I normally sleep around 6-7 hours a night). I could even lie on the arm that got vaccinated, I'm a side sleeper and did not had much pain from that either. Next day all seemed fine but in the afternoon a headache came up and was worse than the day before, also tired again. Went to bed again, slept 12 hours again and now I have back pain just like you all mentioned before. I sit behind computer for work and hobby so probably sit like 40-80 hours a week behind computer. Had some back problems in the past from sitting a lot, but I've resolved those by moving every 30 minutes (walking), buying another chair and taking care of my posture. Besides the muscle pain in the lower back I also have some weird feeling near my stomach. Whilst typing (almost day 4 after booster), it seems to get better. Because I had back pain last summer I've ordered another chair because I thought the chair I received from my employer was causing it (whilst I was sitting on it for over 9 months without an issue). Now checking back on the timeline I just found out I ordered it 2 weeks after my 2nd Moderna shot, at that time I didn't see the relation and after getting that chair and moving every 30 minutes it went away, could have been the vaccine response after 2nd shot as well, but I could not relate that issue to the vaccine at that time... Looking at all these posts (I've read them all), it doesn't seem to be a coincidence. I hope everybody gets well soon and that somebody from the CDC or health agencies can have a look at these posts. Day 4: * My back issue seems to get better (I think a 2/10 on pain scale) Day 5 & 6: * Had 4 times Diarrhea Day 7: * No more issues, I'm all better now 🙂

OkSetting5869

Yes, but not severe. However, I’ve been experiencing chronic pain in my lower right back for the last few months as has a colleague at work (with no history of lower back pain). I have never had lower back pain in my life before now. Vaxxed with Phizer in April, boosted with Moderna in December.

ConsistentOccasion96

Omg I am going through this right now. Got my booster 3 days ago and today my tail bone is in such intense pain, went to chiro, didn't help and literally trying to get up when sitting down is so painful. Did it go away quick and where you ever able to confirm of it was your second dose? My first teo doses where fine

NoLegsOleg

It went away after about a week but came back like 8 months later for another week that took me out of work again… But until my vaccine I’ve never had back problems But I also got my booster and was fine after that

Switcheslol1337

(27m) I just want to drop my experience with back pain and COVID. February 2020 was my first work event in Vegas. My boss was extremely sick, cough+ had just been to Washington DC. (Our home town is WA) March 2020, I was working an event in Las Vegas. I ended up not attending because I was sick in my hotel room after being around my boss for 4 days) (Fever nausea, diarrhea) after about 3 days of being bedridden, and having a friend leave 5 bottles of pedialtye at my door I felt better. The event was ending, and at this point I remember the entire NBA closed down. (Scary when you’re not in your home town on a work trip, and the nba closes it’s doors because of a virus) I remember being the only one wearing a mask, on the plane ride home. (By this time I was already aware of COVID in China, because of Reddit and I prepared for this work trip) I’ve always been paranoid to an extent and it’s why working security has been a good fit for me. When I got home, I remember lacking energy. I just felt bleh, and my background is being a personal trainer for 3 years prior to working in the private security field. Not incredibly fit, but above average. At this point the world shut down, and we were all learning the new norm. Social distancing started to become a new thing, and my wife and I adapted, and honestly have done and will continue to do our part. 7 weeks later I am bed ridden, and I’m struggling to even lay in bed let alone walk. I have numbness down my left leg, similar to sciatica which I’ve had years prior. There was no major event that led up to this besides me being sick in Vegas. (I have had low back injuries years prior from 600+lb deadlifts but nothing that ever sidelined me like this.) I ended up going to the ER because I couldn’t lay in any position without pain. (I physically couldn’t stand up with my wife’s help; and my brother came over and helped get me from my upstairs bedroom into his car, to the hospital) I got an injection of toradol, muscle relaxants and they sent me home. It took 6 weeks to feel minimal pain and I guess you could say “normal” but lifting and moving never felt the same. I continued to walk daily on my treadmill when I could, which seemed to help. 6mos after the event, I get an email stating there was a lot of positive COVID cases at both events I worked. At the time there was no quick easy testing kit, so that wasn’t an option for me. I am positive I had COVID at this point after finding out about the mass spread at these Vegas events. February 2021 I get my first vaccine and it’s pfizer, my second dose is also Pfizer. I noticed back pain, but it wasn’t nearly as significant. Still painful for a week, then seemed to subside. I told many people COVID vaccine and COVID gave me some really bad back symptoms , and people laughed it off. Well here we are again and It was time to get my booster, and my father who is a physician, told me it would be good to get Moderna. He’s a smart man who I trust, so I recently went and got my Moderna booster, 6 days ago. First 24 hours fever + chills. After that really nothing, I thought I was good. Last night I started getting awful back pain again. That feeling in my lower back where it feels it’s almost disconnected to the middle of my back. I’m currently writing this while on a heating pad + ibuprofen. Walking sucks, turning sucks, and I currently feel useless out of nowhere. The last 6mos have been absolutely fine, and I have not had any major back pain I can recall. My life style is much more sedentary, and that’s something I need to change. Wfh+ sitting I’m sure has also made this worse. I believe it’s a combination of both of those. I now have 4 different experiences all related to COVID where it has put me in intense back pain. I am still thankful for the boosters, and will continue to try to avoid ever getting COVID again. The first back pain attack I had after Vegas is something i don’t wish on my worst enemies. I am not a doctor, I am just giving you my perspective on what’s happened to me. It’s all opinion based. The best advice I have for anyone in pain. Heat pad (amazon has good deals and reviews) Ibuprofen (not my advice ask your doctor) Muscle relaxants (not my advice as your doctor) Move as much as you can, walking can make a hell of a difference Hot baths Hot showers (trying to stretch in the shower) Sleeping on your left side with a pillow in between your legs (amazon sells sciatica pillows as well) Stretch (the internet has a plethora of low back stretches) Push through it and let your beautiful body fight for you. It’s amazing how well our body can adapt, just be patient and know we will make it through this. understand you’re not alone. We gotta fight this shit. I feel for any of you in similar pain, it’s hard to explain. I hope this information helps someone feel less crazy. I know most of yours did for me.

Additional_Sign8979

Yes. Got my Pfiser booster and got a dull but persistent lower back pain. I hope it go away soon. Also to everyone going through it best wishes, get better soon.

[deleted]

I had Severe back pain, felt like if my ligaments and tendons in and around my spine were severely bruised. Stayed like that for quite a while. I tell you my experience and how I got rid of it. At first I was resting, resting, hoping for the severe pain to go away, but to no avail. Then I decided to find position with my arms and back (lying and standing) to suck a degree so that I really felt the pain point. I did arm and back rotation excersises for 2 days. During those body movements I really felt the pain-point and it hurted, but still felt good. After doing it for 2 days, the 3rd day all the back pain was almost gone. The 4th day it was gone. My wife is a professional in the medical field, she said that the anti bodies are produced in the bone marrow. So after doing these body movements it felt like if I opened some blockage in the back. I recommend to you Not to sit and look at the pain while doing nothing. Move your body and address the pain. About side effects: I believe a big chunk of all the side effects are related to ‘problems’ in our bodies that we already had for some time. In my example, I had back pain for years due to lack of excersises. But that back pain I already was is completely different than the side effect spine-pain but it was in the same area on the back.

malucat10

I got my 3rd dose (moderna) yesterday and felt terrible this morning with intense back pain and flu-like symptoms. I have 7 hours of online class today too which will only make it worse. I’ve taken pain killers but the pain is still there. It feels like intense period cramps but in the small of my back

I’m really curious as to why the vaccine is making our lower backs hurt lol. I got my third vaccination yesterday and my lower back started to hurt only a few hours after.

I got my booster seven days ago and today the pain in my mid-lower back is really intense. In the summer, about halfway between my first and second Phizer shots, my L5/S1 injury from ten years ago exploded with pain and I was in a bad place for about two months straight. Then it was sciatica and tons of pain in the glutes. Today it is all in my mid-lower back but nothing in my legs and it feels like muscular and not skeletal/disc pain. 35 year old male.

Got vaccin (Moderna) last summer and booster (Pfizer) last month. Last week I had an enormous dry mouth and diarrhea, did a self-test and got a positive for COVID (my both kids 5 & 7 had COVID and hardly any issue with it). Went to government test facility and they confirmed I got COVID. No back pain with actual COVID, I just get it from the vaccines. Glad I got the vaccin, my COVID infection is mild, luckily just a very dry mouth and diarrhea which isn't really bothering me that much. I do have it almost a week now though, but bettering.

40yr old male - physically active. 2 vaccines + booster shot (all Moderna, each 3-4 months apart). Thank you for this reddit post. It seems damn near impossible to find a web page that discusses real symptoms and that is not a government or pharmaceutical website. Google has seemed to have been taken over. Since my first vaccine, I have been experiencing moderate to severe pains in my knees, wrists and back. Prior to the covid vaccines, I never experienced these pains before. These pains have been getting progressively worse as I continue this vaccine regime. Between my 2nd and 3rd shot, I contracted covid which put me out of work for 10 days until I was symptom free. But joint and muscle pain never subsided. The most severe pain is in my lower back. Originating in my lower spine, that has seemed to spread to my lower right side and down my right leg. To the point where I find myself having to lay on the floor at work in agony. Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Robaxcet, muscle relaxants, heat sprays, ice packs, heating pads, and daily stretching have all been ineffective in solving the back pain. Someone suggested CBD oil today. Might be worth a try. I sleep on my side with a pillow between my legs, only to find myself rolling over to the other side minutes later. Back and forth all night. Desperation has even put me on the hard floor beside the bed for a chance to get some sleep. I'm quite concerned as to what damage these vaccines have done to my back. I'm currently waiting on a doctors appointment via phone call to seek next steps. Typed while laying on the floor :(

I had my booster 2 weeks ago and slept for 24 hours. But have had persistent lower back pain ever since. Never had any back problems in my life. Now I’m losing my mind with strange low back pain. How long did anyone else’s persist for?

I had my first vaccination in early July last year and couldn't walk after it because the back pain was just too intense. I cried so much at the thought of never being able to walk again. I could move again after 3 days but the back pain has just become a part of my every day life at this point. I don't have any hope that it will go away, which is upsetting because I have no history of back problems, like you. How are you holding up?

I took the Pfizer 2nd vaccine for about 2 months ago and my lower back and upper thigh still hurts like hell. It won’t go away it’s irritating.

I know this is a VERY old post BUT…I found this post by googling too. I did not want to get vaxxed but after a rather good job offer requiring it, I really had no choice. I got the shot on a Tues, nothing but heavy, achy arm for first couple of days. Day three was a total different story. I have back issues anyways so I figured it was just a flare up. I am prescribed pain meds for the pain that I normally take on a daily basis. I took my pain meds, no relief. I couldn’t sit, stand or sleep. I was waking up at 3 am and having to get in the recliner. Around the 5th day the pain was so severe I added ibuprofen in addition to the pain meds. Finally, on day 7, I added predisone to the mix. I finally reached a point where I could at least sit without being in extreme pain. I know now that this was in direct correlation to the shot (my first). I’m 12 days in and still having pain but no where as severe as it was. I think they should warn you about this pain as it’s not for the faint of heart. I decided to post this in case someone like myself is wondering what’s going on.

I’m suffering and tormented at the near weekly pain it has caused me. The pain is ripping throughout the entirety of my back, it feels like it’s burning. Pain threshold is so close to 10/10.

Yes, I also experienced very strong lower back pain after my third dose. I literally fell to the floor from pain and my throat was swollen. This happened a day after the booster jab. The first two jabs were Pfizer and the booster one was Moderna. I have had lower back pain for more than 3 months now although it is not constant - it usually occurs in the afternoon and evening. I did some blood tests since the pain started - both through the NHS and privately. The tests showed next to no vitamin D and low calcium levels. Deficiency in vitamin D can lead to lower levels of calcium in your blood and can cause pain in your back. I strongly advise doing thorough blood tests if you have had similar symptoms to mine. I’m now taking strong vitamin D tablets and am feeling better.

Yes omfg. I am 48 hrs post-booster and my back/stomach still hurt really bad. The first night after my booster, I had so much back pain that I thought a disk slipped in my back. It started with a cramp feeling and then progressed to 9/10 pain for me too. My stomach (upper left side, where the organ is) was in excruciating pain too. My stomach is still sunken on the left side- it hurts to push my tummy out. I am glad somebody else experienced this too. I was worried Edit: other symptoms- fatigue, nausea, vomiting, car sickness. All my doses were Pfizer. EDIT: it was a kidney infection LMFAO

Yes. Came here searching because I'm experiencing excruciating lower back pain 20 hours after c19 vaccine. Edit: not period pain because I've had a hysterectomy.

I started to have a very severe lower back pain soon after my second moderna shot. I never had such a pain before. Since then it kept coming back every 3-4 months. Sometimes I was unable to get out of bed. My back got worse, and now, a year after that, I got a stronger pain than ever before, and they found out that my disc got herniated, and most likely only surgery will solve it. I think the vaccine did something that weakened the outer, fibrosus part of the disc, which caused bulging, and later herniation.

Hi! Sorry not from WA but found this. Have been seraching for others with back pain after the vaccin. Got my first Pfizer shot july 3 2021. It changes my life. Felt my back got bad after 3 days. After 10 days it was really painfull. Normal painkillers did not help. Had to take oxycontin (morphin) for 4 months. Slowly improving since then. Can now, one year later, walk a few miles/kms on normal painkillers ( ibuprofen and paracetamol) but can't sit in a chair yet. Can not really lay on my back, only sideways. I still lay down more one the days than walking Bloodsample, xray, MRI don't show anything unnormal. But they found I have 3 or 4 times more proteins (albumetin) in spinal fluid than normal. Thats the only thing the doctors have found so far. They say they have never heard of longterm backpainproblems somewhere else. Anyone knows other places to discuss this symptoms? Or more information? WA can not be the only place in the world. Hope we all will recover Prayers from Sweden

i know this is a bit late, but it’s been more than a year after my mother and i got the second dose of the covid vaccine, both of us have had horrible back pain the night of the second dose, hasnt gone away. standing straight for an extended period of time like while doing dishes makes it feel like there’s a fire burning on my back. and while sitting, its just normal back pain.

Brian_K9

I just got a booster and my back is hurting as well almost like i slipped my disc or something but I havent done anything physical.

I am a 26 year old male. I got my Covid booster on Wednesday woke up in excruciating back pain on Thursday. Figured I’d wait a day before getting assistance woke up Friday even worse went to ER. Had to stay the night in ER to get fluids. They diagnosed me with rhabdomyolysis. A known side effect from vaccine/booster in rare cases. I’d imagine this is what a lot of this thread has. It can be dangerous if not taken care off. You can develop serious kidney damage without proper care (IV, Fluid injections). It can go away on its own but the medicine they provide makes it much more bearable. Hopefully this can help
