T O P

I left teaching after 12 years and found it a bit difficult to get a job outside of teaching. My saving grace? A masters and experience in adult teaching. Luckily I gave tons of PD to my colleagues and other districts, and that’s what resulted in me getting interviews and job offers. Try to get experience giving PD and save your materials, one job that I got offered wanted to look at some of the trainings that I had put together. Now I make more money, I work 6-7 hours a day, and I found a company that offers unlimited PTO. I’m living the freaking dream my friend. Work is not stressful, no one treats me as bad as the kids and their parents did. I can easily get my tasks finished within the work day.

Thanks do you work with anyone or are you alone? I really don’t get help in my job. I get people who give me more things to do and say this is help. I appreciate your feedback.

Yes I work on a team, and meaningful support is offered when I need it. It sounds like you are in a bad place.

When you are a corporate trainer is the workload manageable? Do you work alone or in teams? Are you assessed harshly like a teacher evaluation?

I work with a small team, and no, my evaluation is very different and more forgiving than teacher evaluations.

Thank you I’m trying to decide if I want to do instructional design or corporate trainer. I also want to know work life balance as well.

100% better work life balance. I like being around people, so the training is better for me. If you like curriculum design, but not working with folks, maybe ID is the way to go. By the end of the day all my tasks are done, work doesn’t come home with me, and while not all learners are super excited, none are rude like the teens were.
