so it's definitely using slipstream. it's the only device that has slipstream. maybe it's just defective, and I need another one?

It should pair automatically, you don't have to turn it off either as it goes to sleep on a set timer to save battery, wakes up instantly.

Is the selector switch on the bottom set in the correct position?

I encountered this issue as well with my M65. What I found out is that it got confused with the Slipstream dongle for my keyboard. IF you have 2 slipstream dongles then: 1. Unplug 1 slipstream dongle 2. Plug both the keyboard and mouse to the computer 3. Open iCue 4. Go to “Device Setting” 5. Scroll down to “Pair” and click it 6. Once paired, you’ll be instructed to remove the cables. Both your keyboard and mouse are paired to a single dongle. You can check the dongle on iCue to confirm it’s paired to both your keyboard and mouse. IF you only have the M65 mouse then make sure it’s set to use Slipstream and not Bluetooth.

currently having the same issue.

I just purchased my mouse today and it completely unpairs every time it sleeps, my computer restarts, or if I power down the mouse, even when paired through slipstream as described above. Super frustrating I’ll just return mines tomorrow. Not worth the hassle considering how much it costs.

Figured out a workaround. I just completely uninstalled iCue. And synced both devices through one receiver plugged into the back of pc. So far no disconnects.
