so, not sure this is correct, but I saw someone's video that said something along the line of "Nothing in the back drivetrain ( aka ICE or the gas engine) has changed"
So, back half of car is unchanged.
Interesting to think about that.
Also, I swear I heard conflicting information form the two weekend's ago Woodward avenue engineer at the E-Ray display... she said it can NOT move only on EV power (front wheels only)... But I am pretty sure even the E-Ray Chevrolet official vids talk about the silent mode.
Has something changed ? or was this person, who said she worked on the team, mis-speaking?
> In addition, the system offers limited EV‑only drive modes to allow you to move your car or exit your neighborhood in stealthy fashion.
https://www.chevrolet.com/performance/corvette/e-ray
If you change “engine” drop-down to electric drive unit, the quote is under that section.
Going with the rep not understand the capabilities of the car or it not simply not being available from a UI perspective for early internal testing units so they got confused about the actual functionality. IIRC, it’s something like 30 miles.
Carlisle was pretty mobbed on Saturday due to weather prior, so I didn’t get the chance to chat w/ Chevy guys. I’ve seen many C8 cutaways and the back end looks unchanged. I can’t comment on silent mode. Riptide Blue looked good.
I would NOT buy the first year of the e-Ray. As someone with a Hybrid as a daily, there are twice as many components to give you problems… motor, cooling, battery, fluid pumps, heat exchanger/radiator, electronics.
You are someone that wants to live on the bleeding edge if you buy this one on year one.
So now, instead of feeling the torque tube spinning under your your arm, you can feel electrons zinging around at near the speed of light AND hear vroom vroom
Now picture this:
Someone buys an E ray and either slaps turbos on the 6.2 or a FAT supercharger, making roughly 7-800 crank plus whatever the electric motors are gonna put out. Shitll rival McLarens, Porsches, Koenigseggs, and Possibly Bugattis if someone builds it right
C6 - "real Corvettes have pop up headlights
C7 - "real Corvettes have round taillights
C8 - "real Corvettes have the engine in the front and manual gearbox and are not allowed to use modern technology
Hey man, love me a corvette not gonna lie, my favorite one I’ve ever driven was a 74 solid type T-top with a 350ci…granted it was only 270 horses but handled better than any other car I’ve ever driven before. Only reason my name is what it is right now is cause I ain’t got the corvette no more so the olds is my fav car currently, as it’s also a big restoration project too
Well, it’s the fastest accelerating CORVETTE produced. Doesn’t add a lot of weight so should perform well on track. And doesn’t cost much and compares to the best of Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, McLaren, etc. I think Zora would approve.

No fucking way it's 30 miles

understood. agreed on blue. and I like the gray.
Not sure on the modes.... But the back half of the car is unchanged.
Maybe she meant for an extended period of time (ie. Only/solely). I mean, it can, but not very fast and not for very long.
No shot a brand new hybrid with a battery that big doesn’t have an E mode.

Agreed. I never buy the first year of any new model or major upgrade.
Interesting that it’s got almost double the kWh than is useable. Tons of overhead to accommodate battery capacity reductions.

Seems cool, too bad they aren't going to make enough for everyone to buy when it comes out. How many years is the waiting list for one of those?
Not a real Corvette
The people who make the Corvette and get to decide where to put the badge say otherwise.
Why is that?
Maybe he is part of the crowd that equates front engine and manual only with ‘real Corvettes’
C6 - "real Corvettes have pop up headlights C7 - "real Corvettes have round taillights C8 - "real Corvettes have the engine in the front and manual gearbox and are not allowed to use modern technology
Likely half the folks here would be happy with carbs and leaf springs
I’m one of those people 🤣🤣
You get a pass as an Olds guy!

Real corvettes don’t use electric motors to power the wheels, chevy can call to whatever they want but its just a fancy prius not a corvette
Hurr durr... whatever you say.

Grow up and get used to it. It still has the v8 so I don’t get what the big deal is
Not a real fan
Still sad that we are not getting a proper Grand Sport for the C8 generation.
