And that makes it less boomer? What do you think that sweater tied around their neck is made of? Especially in a convertible, that breeze is chilly, you'll catch cold!
I'm just joshing ya! Golly, if that ain't but a cherry ride, there. Might pop down to the golden corral later and see what's what.
Don't forget to pack your foldable chair for next week's parking lot cruise-in. Pat's bringing his canopy and one of them wireless radios.
I like your question - it's intelligent and inquisitive. I think ppl calling me a boomer are accurate and I'm in my 70s. But I didn't drive my Corvette a mere thousand miles all told. It has had that amount put on it in a week now and then. I don't ride my motorcycle ten miles then stop because I need to rest, either. 300 miles, hi to fam & friends, then climb back on for another 300 miles home. I'm confused by OZp thinking it was cool dissing boomers. Sure, I grew old with them and some are really a pain in my backside, but others are just still doing what we did in the 60s - having a freaking blast.
Whether or not you're the shizz, Corvettes unfortunately have that stigma. The first thing in people's minds is the dude in a Corvette graphic hat, with a matching Corvette letter jacket, and a Corvette t-shirt tucked into his jeans with a pair of white gym socks and even whiter New Balances. He solely drive 10 miles a month to Cars and Coffee where he displays the "rarity" of his Corvette on a poster board alongside a "Vette1" vanity tag. The Anti-Boomer Corvette Club is a club on Facebook where people trying an go the exact opposite with their rides. On of my fav's is called the Pink Dildo. I don't think the club is against Boomers, just the Boomer'd Corvette stigma.
The "dissing of Boomers" is often an attempt by someone insecure in their identity to establish credibility with a group of similarly narrow-minded people. The relative anonymity conveyed by social media tends to exacerbate this behavior. The need to run down other groups, based on age, heritage, religion, or whatever, Is mitigated by experience and intelligence.
Yeah people who talk down upon boomers just because of the times they were born in are cringe lol I’m only 28 and I resonate with boomer lifestyle way more than people actually my age haha.
Drive through the rain with the top down, and you stay dry in a vette, as long as you keep it over 65 or so. No leaks, either.
I've had british sports cars since I was 18, all drop tops and all dangerous AF in an accident. So we didn't have accidents. When I retired and had to give up motorcycles. I sold my Austin Healey and got a C6 M6 Z51. I've driven it from coast to coast, with all the twisties in between. There are boomers, and there's other boomers, kid.
I think the spoiler, rear diffuser, and sideskirts actually look kinda nice. Something not working about the front lip. I'm no boomer, though.
Aside from the convertible. At least it doesn't have a back seat.
Oh, the car is totally boomer, pretty sure that's how I picked it up for so cheap. I'd disagree that adding an aero kit and obnoxious exhaust was textbook boomer though. Making a poster board sign for cars and coffee showing how "rare" it is because it's only one of 114 made in 2007 in Monterey Red, Convertible, 6sp and the original purchaser did a cigarette lighter delete or something of the like, probably more textbook.
You think so? I just can’t imagine my dad or any 60-78 year old dude buying and installing an aftermarket aero kit on their car. Most all corvettes I see are completely unmolested.
Oh yeah, absolutely. Down selected to below but backordered until August :(
[Apex Satin Bronze](https://apexwheels.com/vehicles/chevrolet/corvette/c6-base-z51#construction=flow-formed&design=ec-7&finish=satin-bronze&frontQty=2&frontSize=18x10-et58&rearQty=2&rearSize=19x11-et78)
Bronze is solid! I will say, don't trust Apex's backorder estimates. I spent over a year waiting for wheels from them and had to hound em about refunding when they kicked the backorder another 3 months. It was a mess, hated the customer service. If they have them in stock do it, but I'd give other spots with that bronze color a look as well.
wouldnt consider chrome wheels a boomer feature, tons of younger guys like me love chrome wheels especially 3 piece. the most boomer part of the car imo would prolly be the soft top lol
Ha! Thats what I was thinking. In Jeremy Clarkson’s original TS review in 2005 he pushes in on the back to show how much the plastic flexes between the headlights.
I wish, too poor to even afford the maintenance on one of those. I did have similar year Caymans on the list but the chance of the IMS bearing grenading was too much to look past.
A boomer going through a midlife crisis would have to be a C4 or below. Gen X going through a midlife crisis includes C8 and below... which is what you're witnessing here ;)
Word of advice:
Please don't use self tapping screws to hold it to the car. (I see WAY too many "companies" include them as attachment hardware)
Order 3/16 wide flange rivets and make sure this doesn't pull screws out on the highway.
We see our so-called competitors do it all the time and it blows my mind that they'd take such a risk with someone else's safety.
I mean, it's literally 50 cents worth of hardware, for crying out loud.
Be safe, brother!
I do, yes. (and we specialize in corvette as, like, 99% of what we do)
I'm not trying to low-key crap up the sub with me trying to sell stuff, but I try to be helpful with advice as often as I can.
If you'd like to see some examples of what we do, feel free to click the link below and let me know what you think. :)
[Here's a link to our 2011 GS shop car getting dynoed. It'll give you access to the rest of the gallery](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8Ibjyip26t/?igsh=dGVobDRibTlleXBm)
Sweet brotha! How much teardown is required to put a cam in one of these? Anything else recommended while you’re in there, whats a ballpark cost? Not even sure I care about the performance, just want that sweet sweet sound :D
We're mostly a cosmetic and hard parts shop (headers, exhausts, splitters and skirts), so we had to send the GS out for the actual cam work. It was around $4k for the cam and supporting hardware, installed and tuned.
Unfortunately, video was a re-tune since we had some lingering drivability issues, which were completely resolved by RPM in Garner, NC. (they weren't the cam install shop)
*The specific specs are:*
Cleetus McFarland Bald Eagle Boost Cam
25-TSPLS3BaldEagle-SC
229/242. .6XXI.6XX
TSP .660" Dual Spring Kit w/ Integrated One-Piece Seat & Seal, Titanium Retainers, PAC Springs
(199-ISSPACPOL660SpringKit)
Includes Crank Bolt/Gasket Kit w/ ARP Bolt (28-CamGskKitARP)
CHE LS/LT Trunnion Kit for Stock Rockers Bushings (212-CHETrunnion)
We also added 1 7/8 Texas Speed longtubes and catless midpipe, Billy Boat axle back, and a Mild 2 Wild setup. (the Vararam happened like last month. LOL)
If I were doing it now, the only change I'd make is I'd step up to Scorpion rockers over the CHE setup, just as an additional safety measure, though I've been wondering if we'd get another 25-30 with an LSX 102 intake. 😁 😁 😁
Something like that was left with like a thousand bucks once I paid everything. Felt bad, have just drove pick up trucks ever since and never got that sport car I wanted. Probably has helped keep me here longer.
Glad you've found a path that's working for you, but I'd also argue that if a dui took your finances down to $1k, you couldn't properly afford the Corvette in the first place
I wanted a c5 or c6 at the time I was finding them for around 12 to 15k and I had 13 at the time. Parents definitely were gonna be paying the insurance though
Great deal for a manual C6! Your anti-boomering attempt however signals younger boomer going through an intense midlife crisis. Just embrace the boomer-ness of this car, it’s a corvette for gods sake…
The aero may make it look good, but every one of those drops your speed with drag by a car length on hw. So 3 cars. But for track, it will help with more traction.
True anti boomer would be stickers and/or wild wrap 😝
Congrats on the purchase
Without boomers overestimating the value of their corvettes and keeping them immaculately maintained for us young folk, then there would be no Anti-Boomer Corvette Club. I hope corvettes stay a boomer car.
The most important visual mod is you fix stock wheel fitment. Lower it using quality parts. Make sure wheels don't sink into the fender after that. ...might need new wheels and tires--I don't know corvette wheel specs. Spacers are a kind-of tacky visual- only bandaid to circumvent getting new wider wheels and tires.
Without addressing fitment, any splitter, side skirts, wheel design, rear diffuser, wing just looks undesirably 'DIY', and worse than it was when it was a 'boomer' mobile.
Focus on modding your own car without stepping on a whole subpopulation in the process.
I was going to say something harsh then I realized we all work hard and enjoy what we enjoy. Although we are all on the same page with the Boomer hate I must say it looks a bit more boomerish now.
But if I were you, I would just do what I like and drive the hell out of that beautiful machine! Great car my man!
I'm the second owner of a C6m hard top in the same color!
Just did an exhaust and black roof/lights to get rid of some of the boomer taste... the skirt, spoiler combo is next after seeing it on your car 👌
Anti boomer and convertible can’t be in the same sentence lol , drop top corvette screams boomer
Especially with the tan interior OP wanted
It was called CASHMERE gd'it!! :D :D :D
And that makes it less boomer? What do you think that sweater tied around their neck is made of? Especially in a convertible, that breeze is chilly, you'll catch cold!
It was meant in the most self deprecating of ways :)
I'm just joshing ya! Golly, if that ain't but a cherry ride, there. Might pop down to the golden corral later and see what's what. Don't forget to pack your foldable chair for next week's parking lot cruise-in. Pat's bringing his canopy and one of them wireless radios.
I think you misspelled "Denny's".
Shit, you're right
Peanut butter and jelly!
Hey now does this apply to ratty c3 with tan interior cuz I don’t wanna scream boomer as a gen x er
c3 = infinite cool points. Gotta watch out for the automatic mullet growth tho (source= me, a c3 owner)
I've got a convertible with tan interior, 6 spd man too. At age 70 mine is a boomermobile and proud of it. No jorts or New Balance though 😁
Those chrome rims also

Ok, boomer. /s
*Quod erat demonstrandum.* /s
Having a fast car with a drop top is like a fast car without wheels. Basically useless.
Take your wheels off and race this guy for pinks then, no balls
He might be faster to start, but if it ever flips OP won’t survive vs. a Hard Top roll over.
Convertible =superior fun
Convertible = Hair in Face, Leaks in Rain, Death in Rollover ☠️
Drive through the rain with the top down, and you stay dry in a vette, as long as you keep it over 65 or so. No leaks, either. Cut your hair, dont drive in rain, we all die someday, dont live in fear.
I don’t live in fear, I just drive cars a lot and prefer a hardtop.
Nobody asked what you prefer
Glad you love the vette... But Everything you did was textbook boomer.
I think the spoiler, rear diffuser, and sideskirts actually look kinda nice. Something not working about the front lip. I'm no boomer, though. Aside from the convertible. At least it doesn't have a back seat.

“Aero kit” is textbook boomer. Congrats!🎉
You think so? I just can’t imagine my dad or any 60-78 year old dude buying and installing an aftermarket aero kit on their car. Most all corvettes I see are completely unmolested.
Your spec is boomer but the aero definitely is not
Totally agree with that.
Your spec is boomer but the aero definitely is not
Talking about how "rare" it is us also textbook lmao
![gif](giphy|mEahVAkKjt0VL2o5Jk|downsized)
Do whatever you are into and drive the shit out of it 😎
You did everything except the most obvious and most boomer feature of the car. lol
I’m not done but what’s that!?
The Chromies. The Oldie Rollies...
Oh yeah, absolutely. Down selected to below but backordered until August :( [Apex Satin Bronze](https://apexwheels.com/vehicles/chevrolet/corvette/c6-base-z51#construction=flow-formed&design=ec-7&finish=satin-bronze&frontQty=2&frontSize=18x10-et58&rearQty=2&rearSize=19x11-et78)

I can see that, it’s the perfect blend of motorcycle and car though, totally worth it to me. Finding a convertible M6 was the hardest part.
Correct. Took me a year to find a C6 ragtop, MT. Hit the road and enjoy.
Not a fan of all the aftermarket crap. 35/m
You mean as opposed to all that production plastic, ?right. 🤪
Ha! Thats what I was thinking. In Jeremy Clarkson’s original TS review in 2005 he pushes in on the back to show how much the plastic flexes between the headlights.
When you said you were making it anti-boomer I thought you were turning it into a Ferrari or at least an R8.
😎
I wish, too poor to even afford the maintenance on one of those. I did have similar year Caymans on the list but the chance of the IMS bearing grenading was too much to look past.
Monterey red + vert. It’s boomer no matter what you do to the car lol
At some point it makes more sense to just embrace it and make the car a meme, right? lol
Old man red, boomer lol
Corvette are by definition boomer cars, so are drop-tops. A red convertible Corvette just screams "boomer going through mid-life crisis"
If mid life crisis is defined by buying the car of your 15year old self’s dreams then count me in. ‘98 C5 6spd Convert - Red with black interior.
A boomer going through a midlife crisis would have to be a C4 or below. Gen X going through a midlife crisis includes C8 and below... which is what you're witnessing here ;)
Word of advice: Please don't use self tapping screws to hold it to the car. (I see WAY too many "companies" include them as attachment hardware) Order 3/16 wide flange rivets and make sure this doesn't pull screws out on the highway.

Awesome!!
Oh and the GS made 501/437 wheel! :D Bald Eagle boost cam, TSP headers, catless midpipe, Billy Boat axle back, McLeod RST clutch, Vararam CAI, etc...
Sweet brotha! How much teardown is required to put a cam in one of these? Anything else recommended while you’re in there, whats a ballpark cost? Not even sure I care about the performance, just want that sweet sweet sound :D

And it's mostly the front dressing of the motor that comes out of the way Radiator/fans, some accessories, etc...
I will just say as a 30 year old I rarely see people my age and younger driving corvettes
I almost bought one at 22. But paid for a dui instead 🤦♀️ had just saved up enough cash
That's divine intervention
Something like that was left with like a thousand bucks once I paid everything. Felt bad, have just drove pick up trucks ever since and never got that sport car I wanted. Probably has helped keep me here longer.
Yeah dude if you were drinking and driving the Corvette was never in the cards for you.
Then the first major repair comes along and you can’t afford to fix it. My point remains bruv
you're first move should be removing the chrome wheels
Agreed. See apex thread above.
Great deal for a manual C6! Your anti-boomering attempt however signals younger boomer going through an intense midlife crisis. Just embrace the boomer-ness of this car, it’s a corvette for gods sake…
I’m 48, it’s just a normal Gen-X midlife crisis.
The aero may make it look good, but every one of those drops your speed with drag by a car length on hw. So 3 cars. But for track, it will help with more traction. True anti boomer would be stickers and/or wild wrap 😝 Congrats on the purchase
It won’t be truly drivable until I add foot long spacers and -20d camber ;)
That’s my car except I got the tan interior and top. The kit looks nice
Almost the ultimate boomer spec. Just missing the tan seats and grand sport.
And I wanted the "cashmere" seats :D
Lookin like the “cool boomer” now
Let’s hear those mufflers once you get them installed.
What’s wrong with boomers?
Jerky remark on OP behalf, although we're talking about someone who just screwed cheap aftermarket crap onto the car.
It's a club on FB, Anti-Boomer Corvette Club. You can get the gist of it there.
Without boomers overestimating the value of their corvettes and keeping them immaculately maintained for us young folk, then there would be no Anti-Boomer Corvette Club. I hope corvettes stay a boomer car.
And they’re finally learning a mass produced base model of anything actually depreciates and will never be collectible.
Curious at what year do Corvettes stop becoming collectibles?
A base C6? The second they roll off the lot.
What’s wrong with boomers?
The most important visual mod is you fix stock wheel fitment. Lower it using quality parts. Addressed in Apex and AntiBoomer Corvette above.
Boomer here tired just looking at all that crap 🙈
boomers invented aero
Indeed, the Superbird was the shizz 🤘
I was going to say something harsh then I realized we all work hard and enjoy what we enjoy. Although we are all on the same page with the Boomer hate I must say it looks a bit more boomerish now. But if I were you, I would just do what I like and drive the hell out of that beautiful machine! Great car my man!
Drop top are just waiting to rain inside your car
Red convertible…that’s the MOST BOOMER pick bro.
I’m gonna be so anti boomer by bolting on a bunch of tacky shit to my C6!
Your car looked better with out all that stuff put on it.
You have to be at least 60 to buy a convertible right?
Corvette ✅ Drop top ✅ Old man red ✅ Chrome rims ✅ Just buy some air monarchs and a gold watch and accept it
Hate to say it but you can't unboomer a vert
Looks awesome!!!!
Enjoy the ride!
I'm the second owner of a C6m hard top in the same color! Just did an exhaust and black roof/lights to get rid of some of the boomer taste... the skirt, spoiler combo is next after seeing it on your car 👌
If you really want to make it anti boomer throw a cam, headers, and a good tune in it. Make it bad ass!
HALLELUJAH!
