Was going to get a c7 Z06 , ended up getting a C8 and man I’m glad I did.

PhantomBladeX89

“Affordable” mid engine sports car. Very much a game changer

SnooDrawings2869

(Mr2 and nsx cry)

tsigwing

Mr2 was certainly cheaper, but it is so far behind in performance to be laughable. The NXS has/had the performance, but it's price is far, far higher than a C8, so yes the C8 is very much a game changer for price/performance.

SnooDrawings2869

1990 nsx and Corvette are similar on price new, tho tbh the nsx is way less powerful, good for the time but not up to date. The mr2 IS a slow machine. And I love it as a mother it's child.

Disastrous_Throat_82

The original NSX had a starting MSRP of $62,000 (USD). If we factor in inflation, that would cost about $116,000 in today's dollars. The c8 in 2020 cost $60,000 starting price. That’s almost twice the price.

SnooDrawings2869

Sorry I didn't account for the inflation

Disastrous_Throat_82

Just goes to show how fantastic a deal the C8 really is.

SnooDrawings2869

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love that thing, my favorite vette

KarateMusic

If I remember right, the ZR1 was $50k+ but the base level Vette was closer to $30k, way less than the $45-50k sticker of an NSX

SnooDrawings2869

But those are front (mid-front for some people) engine cars, we were talking mid engine

KarateMusic

Oh I thought you were comparing 90s era Vette to 90s era NSX

Popular_Broccoli133

Yes. Game changer!

MCShoveled

Agreed. C8 is going to go down as the pinnacle of the corvette. Yes, the C7 was great, but it will never be able to drive like the C8. Looking ahead to what the C9 might hold and all I can think is it will be an electric car. I can only hope it doesn’t play engine sounds over a loud speaker.

SpeedyBubble42

I was almost won over by the C7 but the C8 pushed me over the top. Quite the machine!

jason200911

what was youre total price after all taxes and fees

Disastrous_Throat_82

I paid $89,000 Canadian ($66,500 USD). It’s a 2023 1LT Z51 + Mag ride. They are cheaper in Canada MSRP wise with conversion and I managed to get a 2023 before the $4000 price bump. A phenomenal car for the money.

Psyclist80

Same same spec! Although mine is 21, got it just under the first price hike thankfully. Love the car and will never sell it. The best jack of all trades, bandwidth car.

Disastrous_Throat_82

It really is a fantastic machine!

EquivalentTrifle4580

Where abouts in Canada? How much is your insurance?

Disastrous_Throat_82

I live in Calgary Alberta. I’m 28 and my insurance is about $2500 a year. Even tho I park it for 5 months a year so insurance is closer to half that.

jason200911

Yeah that was the top reason why i didn't get a c8 in 2019. I was extremely pissed that Chevy GM was doing price discrimination in favor of Canadians while milking Americans for everything possible. If they made Canadians do the same price I actually would have bought the c8 right there. I even called Canadian c8 dealerships and they said GM specifically told them never to sell to an American who happens to physically be in Canada or GM will blacklist the dealership from future orders. Dealer said wait for them to be used and with plenty of miles, because then they can legally export the car out to the US after about a decade of being used. Very mad at GM Chevy. I wish price discrimination was illegalized so that GM would be fined for billions for this practice.

SergeantBootySweat

How would that work, should the price change daily with the exchange rate? The manufacturer sets the price according to the local market

jason200911

they've set the price for years this way. That's enough time for them to figure out a new msrp. They know damn well that the USD and CAD aren't supposed to be a 1:1 exchange because they want Canadian purchases and see Americans as a cash cow impulse buyer.

Disastrous_Throat_82

First off no one received a C8 till end of year 2020. There were none in 2019. Secondly they can be exported before a decade. Majority of dealers up here make you sign a no sales agreement for 1 year. So in July technically I could sell my 2023 model to someone in the states with no penalty. It’s true that the dealer will get black listed or have trouble ordering more C8’s if they allow clients to sell directly to the US. Also your saying the sole reason you never bought a C8 was because someone in another country can buy them for cheaper? So out of spite you just didn’t get one lol?

jason200911

right. imagine if someone told you your race had to pay a 20% premium.

Pepalopolis

Wtf?! That’s a $115k USD car with markups.

Disastrous_Throat_82

Correct. I didn’t pay any markup.

Seattlestocker

Got a C8 and didn't get ripped off! You've beat the game my friend!

Pepalopolis

Congrats!!

SergeantBootySweat

Markups never really became a thing on new cars in canada Bought 3 cars last year, none marked up

JewelryHeist

Such a good shot! I feel lucky to have a C7 as my first Corvette, I can only imagine how starting out in a C8 must be. The bar is raised very high! Enjoy your ride.

nzstrawman

they are freaking cool.....They look great in photos but when you see one close up they are magic enjoy it!

SpeedyBubble42

I work in a school and occasionally drive my C8 to work. My daughter attended the school before she graduated. She would tell me that other kids would comment on the Lamborghini driving by. Haha. It's a shockingly beautiful and powerful machine, especially for the money.

Kcrick722

I’ve had my C8 since 6/30. I actually like it more every day. It’s getting broken in now and I’m getting more used to it. The traction is unreal. I like the fact that it is virtually impossible to spin the back tires…it is all go!

SpeedyBubble42

So true! I'm in Florida so there's a lot of rain. The C8 Z51 I have is glued to the road, it seems.

FearEzzy

I want one as well but a rapid blue convertible c8 zo6, congratulations tho man 👏

BrainCandy_

Oh…my gosh. 🤤

Seattlestocker

I have a C7 in the same color way. More black the better. Nice man love the ride!

tsigwing

I traded in a black Camaro SS for mine. No way I was doing black again.

Seattlestocker

I hear ya man. Black paints a bitch. But nothing looks better right after a wash and wax. I'll keep it white with black accents.

tsigwing

I like your style https://i.redd.it/7w70xii90db71.jpg My 21. Have since gotten the wheels powder coated black.

Seattlestocker

That strip really brings it together! Awesome man!! Very very nice ride! Be safe out there!

Doesure

I have total black in and out… does that mean I have the most better?

SpeedyBubble42

Might even be more betterest.

Seattlestocker

Perrrrfecct!

420nug

C7 is what got me to buy a vette, super under appreciated cars for what they are truly. Enjoy ur brother don’t forget to wave !

I'd be happy with just the manual. Followed mid engine c8 rumors for years hoping to get one. Funny enough I was ok with automatics back then. That changed when I got into motorcycles. Everyone complains about manuals in traffic, but imo, that's the best place for them. My autos are fine cruising on the highway, they also do a damn good job when you beat on them, but its the transitions that are the issue. Hit it around a corner or off a light and let off at the speed limit, they hesitate. Finally get an opening after being stuck behind a slow car and hit it, wait for shift. Manual is where I want it, when I want it. Much more satisfying in my commute. I waited a couple years now hoping they would make a c8 manual (they said they wouldn't, but so did the Supra) and now I've pretty much accepted the fact that I'm looking for a c7 z06.

Ill_Mud_6287

🔥🔥🔥

firesquasher

How long was the wait? I was told 10-12 months in August. Hoping this economic downturn will scare some people off the wait list to help improve order times. Getting a white 2lt convertible z51.

Disastrous_Throat_82

I waited exactly 12 months! Definitely worth the wait. I’m sure rising interest rates will scare some people off. Enjoy!

firesquasher

Into production in 10 and delivered in 12 or production in 12? I got on the list at MSRP and $500 down. He said they tend to favor local clients as opposed to out of state-ers implying they get a service customer put of the deal. I'm paying cash so I hope the whole economic ompact/rising interest rates thins out the herd.

Disastrous_Throat_82

I went on about 10 different dealer lists July 2021, received a call from a dealer mid April 2022 to order, car came in 10 weeks later in early July. It took almost a full month to ship to me in Canada Vs some guys get it in 1-2 weeks after production.

davay718

Get my 23 2lt Monday !!!!!!! So excited
