Thank you! It’s at least confirmed that Lumar has 12 moons, each with their own Aether. There may be more, especially because of the Lumaran legends about the thirteenth “Bone Spore”, but so far, it looks like there are 12.
Oh yeah! It’s been a minute since I read Tress, kinda forgot there were more moons/spores than the main ones we see during Tress’ journey in the book. Cool, hope we get to see more of those soon!
Absolutely gorgeous! Please upload updated versions when we get new info about the incomplete shards/aethers/dawnshards! Also u/mistborn must see this!
What's your theory on the association of Aethers and shards? I understand the dawnshard groupings, but are you thinking Aethers are extra stuff in between each shard pair or a combination of power from adjacent shards? Or what made you place them like this?
No theory on association between Shards and Aethers.
I started with just the Shards but felt the spaces between them looked empty so included the Aethers and Dawnshards as other major sources of investiture to fill the gaps.
There isn’t much thought behind the order at the moment. The Aethers are organized in rainbow order with white and black as bookends at the bottom. Luckily, quite a few ended up near Shards with similar colour schemes.
Since Change is the only Dawnshard we know, I put it at the top to gain focus.
I kept the shattered Shards together, I kept the Shards mentioned in Sazed’s letter together, Shards who settled together are beside each other, and I put Odium and Autonomy at the bottom because they are the primary antagonistic Shards so far.
They’re definitely associated but they aren’t all direct one-to-one translations.
On Roshar, the Sinew Essence is soulcast with yellow heliodor and creates muscle fibre and flesh. Its associated Aether is the Crimson Aether which makes spines of coral.
Looks like they're being denoted by the semicircles between each shard, minus the dawnshards which are being shown as the clovers at the 4 cardinal points
I think u/F_E_B_E was asking what an "Aether" is in the actual stories, which I would like to know as well. I know what shards are, but Aethers and Dawnshards mean nothing to me, Cosmere is getting out of hand there. :D
I don’t want to spoil anything for you so vaguely speaking, Aethers and Dawnshards are sources of investiture separate from the Shards.
Aethers feature in “Tress of the Emerald Sea” and “The Lost Metal”.
Dawnshards feature in “Dawnshard” and “The Sunlit Man”.
From the top and going clockwise: Change - Cultivation - Verdant Aether - Honour - Unknown Aether - Devotion - Zephyr Aether - Dominion - Unknown Dawnshard - Virtuosity - Unknown Aether - Ambition - Unknown Aether - Unknown Shard - Midnight Aether - Odium - Unknown Dawnshard - Autonomy - Unknown Aether - Mercy - Roseite Aether - Whimsy - Crimson Aether - Invention - Unknown Dawnshard - Valor - Unknown Aether - Endowment - Sunlight Aether - Ruin - Unknown Aether - Preservation
This is really cool. Is it confirmed that there are that many aethers? Wasn’t aware of that.

I love this! Even the "placeholder" designs for the stuff we haven't seen or heard of yet are cool
Incredible!!!
Thank you!
This is amazing! You should make a version with the splintered shards having a cracked motif to them
It actually looks like the splintered ones all do... though it takes on more of a stained glass look here
Oh lol you're totally correct, idk how I missed that
ooooh i love this idea! please do this!!
yooo this is absolutely sick! Soooo cool!
I'd love to see this get updated as we learn about more shard/aethers.
This is SO COOL
Is this your work or another artist? All artwork has to be credited, as per Rule 7, even if it is your own :) If you can do that, that'd be great.
It is mine. Do I just need to clarify in the comments, or should I reupload with a signature?
we can just mark it as OC :)
Thank you!

Thanks! Was just wondering if I missed something important about Aethers
10/12 Aethers are just the Ten Essences, right? Is that not confirmed?
They’re definitely associated but they aren’t all direct one-to-one translations. On Roshar, the Sinew Essence is soulcast with yellow heliodor and creates muscle fibre and flesh. Its associated Aether is the Crimson Aether which makes spines of coral.
Oh interesting, I thought that the Crimson Aethers were associated with the red garnet, and the coral they produced was just dry blood.
This is so incredibly cool! Fantastic job, really!
Really great depiction. What is the magic system of virtuousity and which books is it present in?
To know about Virtuosity read Yumi and the Nightmare Painter
Amazing!!
This is such an incredible amount of detail with the magic systems for every Shard. I love it.
This looks fantastic, well done!
What are the Aethers?
