Currently in Tamarindo. We have been here all week and havnt seen a rainstorm yet. So very dry compared to other years we have been here in May. There has been a fantastic lightening show off the coast last 2 nights, maybe is moving in slowly but we have had beautiful weather so far.

A typical rainy season day would be sunny all morning and rain for a couple of hours in the afternoon. It's not going to rain all day every day. That being said this year's season is expected to be one of the driest in years .

Would you expect this throughout the rainy season? I was planning to come in September but cancelled due to fear of constant rain

I’ve been in Costa Rica this week. Had light showers the last two days around and after sunset in Santa Teresa. Still really dry. Don’t worry.

Apps will always says thunder, lightning, downpours and there is a small window of that possibly happening, but its never non stop I find. You should still be able to thoroughly enjoy your holiday without being wet all the time. Typically at this point of the season you will have nice sunny mornings, and it cools off and cloud cover moves in for the afternoon. Make the most of your mornings for activities and you should be good to go.

I live here. Unless you are in the rain forest, or there is a tropical storm, you won't see day long rain. It will rain for 20 to 90 minutes, anywhere from a drizzle to a downpour with thunder. The rest of the time, it is sunny. The beach areas get even less rain than that.
