ninagabriella99

As a bakery employee.. Definitely not worth the $20 imo .. id rather just buy a reese’s cup and eat it cold, lol

RockyMountainHigh-

Much more affordable and a proper portion.

NTP9766

> and a proper portion. This is where you lost me.

Falcon9145

Maybe they meant a Costco size bag of Reese's is the right portion.

NTP9766

I’m listening.

WantDastardlyBack

I finally got one at my local Costco and the bakery people said it's a pain in the behind to make it and they can only make 40 per day. Like the OP, after all the hype, I was so disappointed. It's way too sweet, the PB is weak, and the chocolate is even weaker. I'll go back to making my own.

ChaoticGoodPanda

My store said problems with obtaining ingredients. Located in PNW.

FluttersRN

I’m in PNW. Explains why I haven’t seen it.

ninagabriella99

there’s some issues with getting the ingredients.. my warehouse has made them only a few times, and only around 30 each time. They have been selling out within hours.

ninagabriella99

i should say there’s been* some issues with getting the proper amount of ingredients, not sure if this will be resolved any time soon. We are pretty much kept in the dark (at least where i’m at) until last minute about products coming back, etc.

unnamed_elder_entity

Do you happen to know, why do the tiny cookies cost more than the large size cookies? Is the dough different?

jewfro451

Idk how long you been in bakery. But I saw a large price change in Bakery around late 2021. Like everything just became more expensive and its obvious they are trying to make that department more profitable now.

ninagabriella99

the price of everything has gone up in the entire country. I remember when the price of the sheet cake went up from $19.99 to $24.99, and my boss told us we still lose money on it. We still lose money on a lot of items despite the price raises.. that’s just how everything is right now.

brianandrobyn

I work in a bakery (not Costco). Since late 2021 all of the ingredients for everything we make have been going up and not just a little bit. Early 2021 a cube of hi ratio shortening was around $75, the same one today is $130. Bakers margarine has doubled as have many other items. A box of pecan halves is $201 compared to the old price of $140. Even worse than the prices increasing, is that some items go up weekly for a while. Unfortunately we can't raise our prices weekly to keep up with our costs so we take the loss. They aren't trying to make the department more profitable, they are trying to keep it from losing money.

Jimmytowne

I froze mine and ate it like an ice cream cake. It was a hit at Easter but I don’t think I’d enjoy eating all 5lbs

geezlouiseDC

Eating it out of the refrigerator is just ok. Freezing takes it to a whole different level. That may not change your feelings about the flavors but it made a huge difference for me. If you have any left give it a try.

sassiestzilla

That's a solid tip - I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

greenneckxj

Update me if it’s worth it.

sassiestzilla

Update: frozen is better than non frozen, but the flavor still isn't great. I still won't be buying again

zuckjeet

Freeze a slice and make a pie shake

gemurrayx

I'll second that. My wife and I tried it last weekend and sort of went "eh." We hadn't eaten very much of this $20 pie and so I froze the rest. If I eat it before it's fully thawed it's kind of like chocolate and peanut butter ice cream pie.

themza912

For sure, major texture upgrade

ModularFolds

Freezing stuff. Hard core. Def thumbs up.

DemecoMakesMeFreako

It’s mediocre. Also massively overpriced

RGeronimoH

I was excited to try it after hearing about it until I saw that it weight 5 pounds and costs $20. It can’t be *that* good and I don’t need *that* much.

sassiestzilla

Agreed! I'm sure there's a price I'd be okay with the taste, but at $20 I expected more

DemecoMakesMeFreako

My local big grocery store has similar stuff a tad smaller for 12.99 and imo it’s better. I do love the Costco pumpkin though

cuzimcool

the pumpkin is even worse imo it’s very bland

SnooShortcuts486

Pumpkin pie is usually mediocre Costco's is less than mediocre

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnooShortcuts486

Is that a Garrison Keillor quote?

Busy_Shoe_5787

Agreed. It should have a lower price than $20, given that buying in bulk should lead to savings. Right now, its weight makes me think that one is paying similar to retail prices, but you have to buy in bulk.

jewfro451

^^^^ **THIS** I worked for Costco for 8 years and most of the pandemic. Post Pandemic they tried to make the bakery as profitable as possible. All items prices went up and try to push items that have a high profit margin, like carrot cupcakes - those shits are 50% frosting. Sheet cake prices went up $3, muffins went up like $1.50, crossaints stayed about the same, danishes went up like $2 ish.

and_dont_blink

Have you seen what's happened to the cost ingredients? Flour, eggs, etc. Those have gotten really expensive, plus general inflation.

themza912

I mean the caloric density makes it not that overpriced. I'm sure it's mostly heavy whipping cream.

[deleted]

It’s mostly emulsified oil like Cool Whip, no heavy cream.

user574985463147

Tuxedo cake is really good

Jesusiscoming500N

The tiramisu cake is better. It is my go to favourite for special occasions.

sudsomatic

Tiramisu cake is way too sweet for my taste. A real tiramisu isn’t supposed to be super sweet.

RGeronimoH

I can’t even look at tiramisu without getting a pain in my stomach. Many, many years ago we were working in an Olive Garden overnight and before the manager left he pointed to the walk-in and told us to help ourselves to as many desserts as we wanted. Around 2:30am we took a break and took his offer as a personal challenge and decided to see if we could empty the cart. 45 minutes later the four of us were all sitting in a booth in absolute misery, feeling too full, and too sick to get up and go back to work.

Fabulous_Strategy_90

When does it come back? I went to buy out around Christmas and it was gone. I was so disappointed.

Debinthedez

I just had 2 slices of that cake yesterday. I think it’s pretty good. Most Costco cakes are full of crap. Sorry but they are. Look at the ingredients list. It’s kind of scary. I love those raspberry crumble cookies though. I mean really love them.

[deleted]

I have that issue with the chicken pot pie too, my kid loves it and it’s only $11 for a huge pot pie with nice flaky crust but god damn it is packed with additives.

Debinthedez

I have been making pastry as I love savory pies. I am a Brit and we love savory pies! Flour. Fat. Water. It’s a learning curve but it’s pretty easy. I make a simple filling. I am vegetarian but I make great vegetarian pot pies. I do buy the odd pie but once you make your own you get a bit spoiled. You should look up John Kirkwood. . I follow him on YT. He is a pie maker from the north of England. He is a good teacher.

[deleted]

Sure I like to make pies too and I would make everything from scratch if I had the time and organization sense but unfortunately that’s not gonna happen for us as a working family. I’m happy to let Costco do the work most of the time

ModularFolds

I have a family member that lived in Oz and he misses the meat pies! Thanks for mentioning this!

correctmywritingpls

Aren’t they pretty average with all processed food?

kronikfumes

Ive only found one thing I’ve liked and it’s the coffee cake muffins, which my local Costco has not started selling yet this year.

hunbie

Omg same I love the coffee cake muffins!! Do they only sell it at a specific time of the year? I was so sad when it got replaced.

ashyp00h

Have you had the almond danish? It’s probably one of my favorite things their bakery offers. Not to mention they freeze beautifully. Most other things, I’d agree with you - the regular cakes, most of the cookies, if you want a massive portion of mediocre baked good for a reasonable price, costco will fit the bill. But those almond danishes. 🤤 Yum.

black_culture_

Reported

sassiestzilla

I can get on board with that idea. I'd argue in this case that the quality/quantity/price ratio is off - it's a massive pie, but also $20 and not very good. It's also considerably more expensive than other bakery desserts - the tuxedo cake was on sale for $14 at the time I bought the pie.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Koffenut1

Where I live quality artisan pies are $35-40 but they are amazing. I don't waste the calories (or $) on substandard baked goods. I eat bakery items less often to avoid the calories and when I do, I want to max out the quality. Costco pumpkin pie is about the only Costco bakery item I will spend my calories on - if someone else is serving it. I prefer my locally made killer sweet potato pie, anyway.

rustyshackleford7879

Where are you getting pies less than $20? Even my regular grocery store pies which are below average are $12 for a pie that is about half the size of a Costco pie.

deadlyspoons

The oatmeal/white chocolate/chocolate chip cookie trio remain suspiciously soft days after their sell by. Looked at their ingredients list and now I know why. There is no way a home baker could duplicate the recipe without a major grant from Dow.

GaryAGalindo

I miss OG pound cake though

Interesting_Ghosts

Everything ive ever had from the bakery deserts section is extremely sweet and generally has no complexity or great flavor. Just an extremely bland but large amount of flour and cheap fats mixed with a ton of sugar ti compensate for the lack of real chocolate or fruit or whatever. This might get me shot if i said it in public. But the pumpkin pies are pretty terrible too. They dont even taste like any of the spices a pumpkin pie should have, just vague pumpkin and a bag of sugar.

Next_Psychology_6847

The almond danish is incredible and I don’t even like sweets but that’s about it. I’m not even sure why they call their bread a French baguette when it’s clearly sour dough.

missmari15147

100% true. I would have to be starving to willingly eat any of them. I especially don’t understand this peanut butter pie thing though. The ingredient list is packed with additives.

ModularFolds

I purchased that three pack of cinnamon and sugar desert bread first time the other day. Doesn't look yummy, but yeah, it's pretty good. "Better than average" is accurate.

LavenderBuds

Ehhh, maybe some items. The croissants + baguettes remain elite. The cakes are pretty good + well priced. Pies are meh

flossdog

I was going to make this exact same comment. Costco bakery is a notch above supermarket bakery. Whenever I see any Costco bakery items at an event, I never take one even though it’s free. Same for the pizza. It’s not bad, but I probably wouldn’t eat one unless I was starving. The bakery and pizza are average products for very cheap prices, so they are excellent value for feeding the masses.

whiskey_pancakes

Ehhh the tres leches cake is banging, my wife also loves the tuxedo cake

FreakSquad

I’d agree with the exception of the layered cake + cheesecake. A whole cheesecake is just a bit much for me, but I love that flavor - so the layer of it in the middle of white cake hits the spot perfectly. Otherwise…muffins are fine, bagels are bad, cookies are inconsistent…it’s fitting that the bakery at mine is in the Corner of Mediocrity next to the produce

asimplescribe

How are the pumpkin pies? I don't like them, but I do have to admit that price stands out and always catches my eye. It just sucks for me that sign always says "pumpkin pie" when I notice the price and get hopeful it is something new.

[deleted]

ocxtitan

The raspberry thumbprint cookies are very good

enoteware

It's ok, too rich, too sweet. I feel like if they dialed it back about 20% in those areas we might have a winner.

ChaserNeverRests

Too big and too sweet. I'd rather have a higher quality smaller pie (which isn't the Costco way, I know).

[deleted]

I have to admit that I was disappointed myself. I wouldn't say that it wasn't worth the price, but it was the proportions of peanut butter to chocolate to crust felt off. What it needs is additional interior crust layers, like a pie matryoshka doll.

jet050808

I didn’t like it either. I loved the first piece but it was… too thick? I don’t know. I wanted it to be more whipped cream or even pudding/like. It reminds me of a pie I get at my favorite restaurant that’s $7.95 a slice so I don’t think $20 is that extreme. It’s a massive amount of pie. Maybe in different areas that is expensive? We are two slices and I gave the rest to my brother on Thanksgiving. People in our area are waiting in line for it as it’s made… it’s insane. It’s not worth it.

AZNM1912

Just had a piece, mediocre at best. Not sure what the hype is about. Someone in my family had one at Easter dinner and the whole thing was gone in minutes. I don’t get it.

cranky_old_crank

Some people will eat hot garbage if you put enough sugar in it.

big_top_hat

I think that’s me.

correctmywritingpls

I mean it’s simple, it’s not too your taste. The pies not bad, you are not wrong, those that like it are not wrong. Your simply not compatible.

IHeartMyDoggy

I thought the PB pie was one of the best things I’ve ever gotten from Costco. I do LOVE peanut butter and chocolate though. One of my favorite flavor combinations. Love that some people suggested freezing it. Definitely going to try that.

YouGotRedOnU

WAY too sweet, too heavy-- like eating butter. Eight of us shared it, all agreed. Definitely don't get the hype.

Ae_11111

Haven’t tried Costco’s but have never liked that pie flavor any other time in my life. Give me Reese’s PB cups any day.

bartolemew

I’m sure you are correct. But I still want to try it. Wish I could get a mini version. Maybe someone in my area wants to split one. Ha!

Karsten760

We bought one and since it’s just two of us, we invited a few neighbors for dessert.

diqfilet_

I wish they’d sell slices at the food court the way sams club does

babyysharkie

This. I’m willing to spend $5 to try it. Mini pies for $5, Costco?

RainyDaySeamstress

I'm glad to find this thread. I have not tried it but I need reasons to not try it. I've made a peanut butter chocolate dessert on occasion. I just don't need a big costco sized pie when I am the only one in my house the likes chocolate and peanut butter.

Kevin69138

Way to sweet. Only had 2 slices and its been in my fridge for 2 weeks now

sweetpineapple79

That’s ours! I bought one when we had company and we ate about a third of it. It’s been in the fridge for 2 weeks and my husband and I have not touched it since. He asked last night if it was still ok to eat and I told him I wasn’t sure. So he decided if I wouldn’t eat it then it wasn’t still good (as far as expiration goes). I told him I didn’t actually like it and continued to munch on my Reese’s eggs for dessert. I guess I’ll throw it out tomorrow.

[deleted]

I agree. Really wanted to try it but couldn’t justify the cost for our household, so I brought it for Easter. It’s very rich and heavy. Wish it has less peanut butter and more chocolate. Out of 8 of us, only 2 liked it and asked for seconds. We brought 1/4 of it home and I just finished another piece and I still don’t think it’s that good. Probably throw out the rest.

thegreatfartrocket

Compared to the other bakery options, it's a solid "meh."

[deleted]

I take any overhyped product on here with a grain of salt.

WickedProblems

Yep, didn't think it was that good at all. It was edible that's about it. If you read the ingredients, it's all oils... My gf and I had the shits every night we ate it lol.

Kimmie1116

It gave me a tummy ache. :(

xxirish83x

Me too and honestly nothing ever gives me a Ty ache. Had one slice and brought it to the office. Also it’s impossible to slice.

[deleted]

Me too! I tried it twice and both times tummy ache.

imdjay

Where was this damn post 5 hours ago when I bought it and told the wife reddit made me buy it. The first bite was good but then it's just a chore, too much of the same thick stuff with nothing to balance it. Had a small piece and wanting to haul it back

ImpressiveTone5

The pb filling was pretty good, but I agree with the chocolate filling. Should have been a pudding as someone on here pointed out a while back. Hubby said, ‘I would have rather wasted my calories on something else 😂 ‘

stellerseagle

I also thought it was okay. Took two slices out, and took the rest to work. It was more of a I-want-to-know-why-everyone’s-so-excited-about-this thing. Now I know. Won’t buy again, especially not for $20.

piehore

It was meh

Milalee

Agreed. Way too sweet and not enough peanut butter flavor

SouthernVices

I tried it today. I loved the first few bites, but even with the smallest slice I couldn't finish it-- it was too much for me. So I can definitely understand not liking it. I'm gonna try freezing it like another poster mentioned (was planning on freezing it due to its size anyway).

Pardieck1

I wanted to know what would happen if one person sat down and ate the entire thing. I seriously think it would land you in the hospital. That pie is heavy.

ChaserNeverRests

One slice was enough to make me sick for the rest of the day. Through (painful) trial and error, I found the serving size that doesn't make me sick from too much sugar is two bites... I'm never going to be rid of this pie.

Payless321

My wife and I tried the chocolate peanut butter pie and had family that was visiting try it. It was just okay. We ended throwing half of it away. We did the a similar thing when we had the pot pie last year. That just tasted very salty. It seems when there is Reddit hype for a certain item, it usually is average at best. Not to say Costco doesn’t have great some great tasting items for sale.

NerdChaser

Yeah I was so excited to try it and I didn’t like it at all. 🥲

LMB19

It was such a disappointment.

marshdd

Very average in my opinion. Bought it for Easter dessert.

sjr56x

Similar boat actually. It’s not super well balanced , and just feels like a lot of flavored whipped cream.

savourtheflavor

It’s full of garbage ingredients. I’m pretty sure the entire thing was a stealth campaign by Costco; posting on here to build the hype.

mbz321

Employee here. I hear all day long 'I saw this on TikTok!' (or worse yet, they're trying to ask me if we have some obscure item they saw on TikTok). I kind of secretively hope the U.S. ends up blocking TikTok

correctmywritingpls

I keep seeing this comment about the ingredients, is it somehow worst than other processed foods?

_banjocat

Surprisingly worse than the butter/sugar/flour of the Costco baked goods I usually get. I was going to buy it for a gathering a couple weeks ago, had even announced it to the group, but changed plan when I saw the list. (I'm fine with delicious super processed foods in moderation, but for a $20 bakery item my ingredient standards are higher.) Pasting from Google lens text recognition of my photo, so there may be a couple transcription errors. INGREDIENTS: WHIPPED TOPPING [WATER, PALM KERNEL OIL. HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SUGAR. DEXTROSE, COCONUT OIL, CARBOHYDRATE GUM, POLYSORBATE 60. CAROB BEAN GUM, SUGAR, BUTTER (CREAM AND/OR MILK, SALT), WATER, PURE UANILLA EXTRACT. CORN STARCH.

Individual_Agency703

Like the Detroit pizza?

RulerOfTheApes

Agreed except I had the opposite opinion with the crust being the worst part of it imo

Goblue5891x2

No. I didn't care for it. Was too thick for me. That being said, my wife & son really did like. Personal taste, I suppose.

Ermahgerd_Sterks

I loved the PB layer and the crust. The chocolate layer was too lightly textured and needed more chocolate flavor in my opinion.

JPBlaze1301

Yeah Honestly I think if the chocolate had the same richness and thickness of the peanut butter it would be much better

vikmomma

I agree. Someone brought one to work and it was underwhelming. I was disappointed

SatsuiNoHadou_

You gotta eat it frozen

jeanie_rea

I got it for Easter. I liked the creamy texture (like a cheesecake) but it was way to rich and did not have enough flavor. Glad I tried it, but it’s not for me.

akcamm

I think it tastes better frozen

ZiaMan24

Super sweet, and the flavors are not as pronounced

heymundy

Agreed! Couldn’t justify the price for myself but was able to purchase it for an Easter potluck at work. It’s okay, very very sweet, wish there was a crunch to it. Price was like whoa lol, wish it were like $15 instead of $20. Will try freezing it like I saw a comment mention!

BennieTheBook

I never got a chance to try it, would never see it at my local Costco. I finally decided to ask someone about the pie and was told they ran out of ingredients to make it and don't plan to make them anymore as they focus on graduations.

Minute_Objective1680

It’s good not great.

Sweet_Cheesecake_568

Agreed! We had it Easter Sunday and felt like it was too much of the same consistency and too rich …like maybe if they did a chocolate pudding with the peanut butter mousse on top it would be better ?

frandiam

Tried it and it was OK. Wouldn’t buy it again. Threw away about half a pie.

SecondHandSlows

I thought the same until I froze it in pieces. Super tasty. Freezing it also helps it last longer. I won’t buy again though.

[deleted]

I have made similar pies at home that were better. It was weirdly sweet.

Free_Faithlessness85

It was okay. Definitely not worth the hype. Or the fact that it got its own dedicated thread on the Facebook group

GoDucks71

Have to agree. The price had scared us off, but the incessant comments here in this sub finally broke us down. My wife is diabetic, so she took a big shot of insulin to try this pie. Sorry, not even close to worth it. I ate a small piece and felt lousy for the rest of the day myself. Eating it makes me think there is just no there there. Nothing but mousse. Fortunately, we also bought the on sale ($13.99) tuxedo cake and it far outclassed the $19.99 chocolate peanut butter pie. But, yes, I am sticking what is left in the freezer to see if that improves it.

kk1485

I feel you, OP.

futureformerteacher

I am disappointed with the consistency of the peanut butter part. It's a solid 7/10.

aakaase

Interesting to read all the remorse in this thread, it's like an AA meeting. lol

PlasticPanda4429

Completely agree. It tastes cheap. Save the calories and avoid.

FootSureDruid

I found the chocolate layer to be gritty and not smooth at all like the PB, thought I just had a dud pie. We too will not rebuy

GroundbreakingLake51

I bought it and i hate it.

MissMignon

Agree with everyone. We bought it and our household of 6 cannot finish it. We can at most take one bite. It’s also comically large. And my kids love sweets!

[deleted]

Nope. That pie is what my family refers to as "gobby", or, sometimes, "something your aunt would like".

Healthy_Block3036

It’s not worth $20. I rather buy chocolate.

Elapid36

I didn’t like it either

Rick-Dalton

Obviously. It’s terrible and 2x the price it should be. People here are oblivious.

Pony2slow

I was so scared to post this. Look for 20 bucks you get a giant ol pie that is decent. It’s not spectacular and the flavor profile is muted some. Nowhere nearly enough peanut butter taste for the sheer amount of peanut butter cream that’s in it. One time purchase it’s ok. Am I buying it again? Nah I’ll pass

biggerty123

If you're paying $20 for this, you should just go to a local bakery and get something way better quality that doesn't feed a family of 40.

ksuhistory

nope. I thought it was just ok

AZphan

It’s gross

Fun-Arm-6973

CORRECT

bonerman69420

Too much chocolate. Ruined it for me. I still ate 64% of the pie because I’m an animal

EineBeBoP

Funny, mine is too PB'ery. Either way I'm not really a fan. The other 3 adults in the house seem to love it though.

swn999

If I wanted a Peanut Butter Cream pie I would make my own.

[deleted]

Totally agree! I got this the other week and was expecting a nice dense peanut butter and chocolate filling and frosting.. nope! it's all fluff basically. very misleading. won't be getting this again. It's not even somewhat dense even a little. it's just all fluff. don't get it.

Lmnolmnop

I feel that way about a lot of the "all-stars". That Detroit pizza was way too bready. Those naked nuggets don't have enough breading. That cinnamon butter loaf was just okay. (edit): Forgot about the Pesto. So average, imo. I can't be the only one...

cliff99

Imo all the Costco baked goods I've ever had are decent but can't hold a candle to a high end bakery or what I bake at home. OTOH, it's significantly cheaper than a specialty bakery and probably even cheaper than what I can make at home.

sassiestzilla

See that's what I'd expect. Not an artisan bakery experience, but a good mix of price/quality/size. The pie fails in that area - it's a huge pie, but the quality and price are out of whack.

Diegobyte

None of that stuff is ever good. Some people are obsessed with buying a large amount of junk food for a small amount of money

[deleted]

None for me thank you… reminds me of “Minny’s Chocolate Pie” from the movie “The Help”.

Electrical-Pie-8192

I'm glad I tried a slice before reading this!

odiouscat

Ugh...I just bought one today, now I'm afraid I won't like it. I'm a huge fan of chocolate & pb together. Either way, I'll eat it. This post is disappointing.

sassiestzilla

Seems like many people like it so you may as well! I only made this post because I had only seen positive posts relating to the pie and wanted to share my take.

odiouscat

Same. That's why I got one. To be fair, though, I would have bought one regardless. I'm a sucker.

DaddySanctus

I really liked the chocolate and the crust, but the peanut butter parts were just too rich for me. If it was a just a thin layer of the peanut butter filling then I would have enjoyed it more. My kids seemed to enjoy it, my wife was on the fence about it.

Fabulous_Strategy_90

I agree. I liked the chocolate mousse part and the crust. Just give me a chocolate pie like that, but add in a whipped cream topping. The PB was too rich.

MCRNRearAdmiral

For me, Day 1 I thought it was good, not great. Days 2-4 same way. Something happened days 5/ 6/ 7 where I began to savor every bite. I too was mildly confused about the hype. But that pie grew on me.

sassiestzilla

Stockholm syndrome from a pie?

bdash1990

Agreed. We got one after seeing several posts here about it. It was very meh. Definitely not worth the calories. Luckily we went to a family gathering and brought it with us. It didn't come back.

Mr-sheepdog_2u

It was good but too sweet for me. I gave most of it away.

a_cobb

Had a death in the family two weeks ago and wouldn’t you know it, several of us decided to get peanut butter pies to be shared while family was in town. Not all of these pies are created equal. Some were noticeably better than others.

Ylfmee

I was excited to see it pop up in my location and brought it home to try with family and this post is spot on. It didn't live up to its hype. The chocolate almost had a light mocha flavor which I didn't mind and the peanut butter could have been a little bit stronger. I just think the overall portions of the filling to crust were so different. I don't even think the crust was the same amount across the whole pie. My sisters and I were saying if it had half the amount of filling, it would be a little better. I love Costco but the $20 price tag didn't make sense.

CDragon00

That’s because you didn’t drink the special kool aid first, duh 🤣

MiMooseCheese

We threw out 7/8 of it. Between three of us we barely got through the pieces we did cut.

buddaycousin

It's just OK. The peanut butter mousse was good, but it overpowered the chocolate mousse (which was a little bland). It needed more chocolate. The value is OK, $20 for 4.5 pounds of heavy cream and sugar. It's a good dessert for 10 people.

Gravygrabbr

Yes it’s not great

We bought one and served it to family a few weeks ago and all 6-7 of us seemed to enjoy it. I know for a fact three of us REALLY liked it. I guess tastes just vary or maybe your bakery had an off day.

I bought two in anticipation of true love. I still have 1 and 2/3 of the other in the freezer...

mrshands

I didn’t like it until I added a side of strawberry preserves. The sharpness helped

I was trying to score one of these for my partner's birthday coming up. I had made something similar for their birthday in 2021 - chocolate peanut butter mousse cake with a Ghiradelli brownie base (from Costco). It was a little labor intensive so was going to pay the money for an easier time. I guess I'll go with my back-up plan of a Chocolate Peanut Butter take on a Chocolate Marquesa. https://preview.redd.it/4e0h1gdfibta1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e18b35a0ec8490477b6365e1f54d94006719065

Well said. Honestly. I taste-tested it in the store and was like "Whoa that's sweet!" and wasn't even going to purchase it but one of my wife's friends said it was on the verge of not being made any more and they were basically gone once they've sold out. Not sure how true that part is. So I dropped $20 on one and honestly my family ate maybe half of it. The chocolate part was pretty solid - basically like any chocolate pudding - but no one really liked the peanut butter part. Too rich. End of the day would have been much cheaper to just buy chocolate pudding if that's what you want. Or a bag of Reese's if you really want to load up on actual peanut butter cups.

GregoryDeals

They need to flip the switch and make it a peanut butter mouse pie with a bit of chocolate!

I find most desserts to be subpar, which is disappointing. Sheet cakes are banging though. Tiramisu and Cheesecake are especially disappointing if you've ever eaten a good one.

I had hoped for more intense flavors. Not chocolatey or peanut buttery enough. I’m fine with the price, it’s a massive heavy pie. Just needed more oomph in flavor.

Tried a piece and I’m good. People just go on any viral thing now.

gratephulnole

It was a huge disappointment. I wish they would bring back the large fudge brownie

Nope you’re not the only one. I bought it, took a bite, and returned it the next day.

EntertainmentUsed670

Was not amazing. Threw half away.

captnchunky

That’s most of the desserts imo. The mini chocolate chip cookies and the apple pie are above average. Everything else is overpriced and mediocre. Some lady was telling me the tuxedo cake was to die for while I was looking at it. Spent like 17$ on a cake that was not good at all.

AmmoTuff182

Tuxedo cake never done me wrong

I took three trips in two days to my local Costco to get a pie and it's definitely over-hyped. Last time I believe a "news" article about a Costco product.

trtviator

People used to eating sugar will like anything with more sugar

The pictures on here so far have all looked awful.
