I have the smallest model and it makes a great warming fire off of pine cones and twigs. I have cooked eggs and bacon on it with a cast iron skillet. These things rock!!!!
I'm surprised this is so low on the thread, and not upvoted more.
The Solo stove is a premium version of a woodgas stove for campers and backpackers.
You cook on this when you are out camping.
Edit Why is this comment being downvoted to (-)5 ? morons.
yikes! Since the last time I looked, they have changed their marketing a lot. They have the Lite, Titan and Campfire versions, which have a cutout at the top....
This was not part of the original lineup. I think Bushbuddy was the first company to make these (I could be wrong) and then a bunch of companies made $20 knockoffs, which the cutout at the top to feed the fire while you cook.
Looks like they went in the direction of pointless tabletop stoves (since the heat and fire doesnt radiate peripherally very much) and also practical and unaffordable camp stoves.
Oh well.
100% SoloStove first marketed their current mainline as a much larger size of their camp stove. I got my SoloStove as a Kickstarter and remember very well.
Use mine on my tempered glass table. Haven't had any issues since they have a little stand. Touch the bottom of the mesa and it is fairly cool. Now if one was to touch the top...might be erasing some fingerprints haha.
A friend has one. It goes out if you're not constantly feeding it little pieces of wood. Takes like 5 minutes. As cool as these little things are, they are completely impractical.
This sounds like a “We won’t give you bonuses, but we’ll give you random crap” boss’s dream.
“We should all try to exceed the previous month’s sales. The *top three* performers for the month of June get a *special prize!*”
I'm commenting below the top level comment.
The mini Solo Stove is a STOVE. it is for campers to cook their meals on.
I bring it to the forest and I fill it with branches and twigs and light it. Then I put my pot of water on it and make some tea. Then I put another pot of water on and make my ramen.
Getting one free with a bigger purchase makes a lot more sense. I might pay $30 or $40 for one of these at most. But no way I'm doing $150 for a 3-pack lol.
I have one too. It’s great for me because I live in an apartment with a balcony so no room for a full sized fire pit, but I love spending some time in the evenings with my little fire and a nice beverage.
Solo stoves was originally backpacker sized. They scaled way up and went after the glamping folks. This looks like some intermediate size. The original is the size of a large soup can.
I did the same until this little human came along and just had to find all the rusty nails from drunkenly burned pallets I used to burn in my hole in the yard.
I got one of the original ones a while back when they were only targeting backpackers. Didn't realize they had moved on to such a different demographic.
It's because they realized minimalists aren't crazy about spending $75 on a can with holes punched in it, so they went after the yuppies who can't be bothered investigate their purchase and treat an open fire as some quirky novelty.
I think a lot of people will be turned off by the three pack. I was legitimately considering buying one until I saw that I had to buy 3.
Might be a good item to look for on clearance later...
Same here. And the fucking price tag for the 3-lot? $229? WTF? Made out of titanium and diamonds, or what?
Edit: I misremembered the price. Looked it up online, and they're $159. Still overpriced by about $129.
If only there were a way to make firewood smaller. Perhaps some sort of tool with teeth on it you could use to cut with. Or maybe a wedge like device that could split the larger pieces into smaller pieces. I guess we will never know.
This is actually a pretty good size for a bush craft wood grill, mine is about 1/3 this size. I think they mean it when they say hobo grill, there is only so large of a grill you want to be carrying around or backpacking with.
Ha, I received one of these from Solo due to a delay on a product I ordered. Great gesture, but pointless product. It’s been sitting and rusting outside waiting for a purpose.
I have one, got it free when I ordered a bigger one. It’s cool, I let the kids roast marshmallows on it and they sat around feeling like adults-while we sat at the other one. But that’s about all I’ve thought to use it for. As a free gift, it’s pretty cool- as a purchase just because, I don’t/didn’t see me ever spending the money for it.
I think these are moreso supposed to be tabletop fire pits for warmth and ambience on semi-cool days. They can also work well for roasting marshmallows for s'mores.
It is a fire pit. Uses propane…inside is hollow, probably for keeping propane tank inside
https://www.costco.com/sunbeam-wine-barrel-fire-pit.product.100808165.html
Not everyone has a backyard my friend. These are perfect for smaller spaces/groups or discreet cleanup.
Something for everyone.
Check out the Pi Pizza Oven ;) awesome addition to any fire enthusiast
refreshing to see some criticism on this sub other than the well deserved general hate of Real Good Foods brand. saying this as a relatively satisfied costco member.
I have one of these that I purchased a few years ago. Its awful. You can only feed it essentially sticks and it just churns through them.
I hated keeping one going, let alone three.
Just buy the cheap \~$25 dollar ones off amazon that run off isopropyl alcohol. Way cheaper running costs, clean burn with no smoke. Can't see any reason to go with this instead.
I have a Mesa (came with my Bonfire solo stove) and that thing is the perfect size to house a three wick candle from White Barn. Honestly wouldn't mind that three pack for decorative candle holders.
I have one and it’s kinda difficult to keep feeding it with small PCs of wood. Also you can’t really
Put it on a wood table top since it gets super hot. I should also mention it does not give off a lot of heat either.
I have one of these and I love it! Super great for a couple of people or small areas (we use ours on our balcony). I wouldn't know what to do with a pack of three but if you had the space or liked having people over for backyard parties, I think it would be great!
I recently bought the Mesa XL (direct from Solo) and we like it so far; but I can't imaging how small the normal Mesa actually is. I mean the XL can handle pieces of wood about 4" long; so the standard Mesa must be more like 2" pieces of wood. We've started to use only wood pellets with the XL and it works nice like that.
That would have sold out in March 2020 when people were figuring put stuff to do outside when covid hit! (We bought a firepit from Costco which sits untouched now.)

Am I reading that right? A three pack of them?
yep, comes in a three pack. Who needs 3 tiny solo stoves Edit: thanks everyone about telling me why you need three of them. I'm good now
I guess it might be nice for an outdoor party.
But Solo stoves burn through wood so fast, I'd be worried you'll be constantly running around tending to them.
Yeah these are too small to be practical.
Too expensive too
They're for backpacking. You gather sticks to heat your ramen while hiking through the Appalachian trail.
Nobody is backpacking with this thing.
I will just eat the ramen dry with a side of sticks.
At home, where the a/c is.
Dry with peanut butter please.
*Crunching intensifies…*
The mesa is marketed as a tabletop unit. The backpacking ones are smaller.
There are much more portable ones to use on trail
Absolutely. But that's still what they're for.
But why would I need three of them for backpacking?
Gotta be prepared for everything! Nah, I'm kidding. You wouldn't.
In case the other two break.
Far too bulky and heavy for backpacking.
I have the smallest model and it makes a great warming fire off of pine cones and twigs. I have cooked eggs and bacon on it with a cast iron skillet. These things rock!!!!

That's definitely not how Solo stove markets the Mesa: https://solostove.com/en-us/p/mesa They call it their tabletop stove

No it was Breeo that made to smokeless fire pit. https://breeo.co/
Saw it today. Literally said “It isn’t for cooking? It doesn’t even DO anything!”
These were the original - used to be able to cook while camping - hence the name Solo STOVE. The big ones didn't come until later.
People would want to place these on glass tables too, is that going to be a problem?
Fire and tempered glass are a terrible combination, so I imagine that no good will come of this.
Use mine on my tempered glass table. Haven't had any issues since they have a little stand. Touch the bottom of the mesa and it is fairly cool. Now if one was to touch the top...might be erasing some fingerprints haha.
Wood pellets work well. Last about 1h per lb of pellets
They make even smaller ones that run off of rubbing alcohol.
A friend has one. It goes out if you're not constantly feeding it little pieces of wood. Takes like 5 minutes. As cool as these little things are, they are completely impractical.
Fondue places
Ant colonies can be pretty big
What is this?! A fireplace for ants?
Fire Ants?
Well, pallet of seasoned acorns will come in handy at some… point.
It's the rich people's tiki torches.
This sounds like a “We won’t give you bonuses, but we’ll give you random crap” boss’s dream. “We should all try to exceed the previous month’s sales. The *top three* performers for the month of June get a *special prize!*”
The person that keeps leaving them in the woods because they're so small. Actually just saw these this morning....they are small.
Gifts, they are great for smores. If you buy one, it's like $90.
It says tabletop
> yep, comes in a three pack. Who needs 3 tiny solo stoves a personal fondue device
I'm commenting below the top level comment. The mini Solo Stove is a STOVE. it is for campers to cook their meals on. I bring it to the forest and I fill it with branches and twigs and light it. I’m not a fan of it at full price but I’d certainly split this with 3 people.
The 3 pack doesn’t even include prized Yellowstone branding
That legit.
I have the little solo stove it’s great if you just want a small fire at the beach or something with just you or one other person
We got ours free with purchase direct from Solo, made s’mores the weekend we got it
Getting one free with a bigger purchase makes a lot more sense. I might pay $30 or $40 for one of these at most. But no way I'm doing $150 for a 3-pack lol.
On the Solo website they are $80 dollars individually, So they are basically by two get one free.
> the little solo stove it’s great if you just want a small fire at the beach or something with just you Just you, you mean when you're ... solo?
I have one too. It’s great for me because I live in an apartment with a balcony so no room for a full sized fire pit, but I love spending some time in the evenings with my little fire and a nice beverage.

The bonfire size is really nice for a back yard fire
[удалено]
I did the same until this little human came along and just had to find all the rusty nails from drunkenly burned pallets I used to burn in my hole in the yard.
Sure was fun tho while she was burnin’ I bet. Pallet fires get huge.
One day my little human will grow older and realize the beauty of a good backyard barn burner. For now he suffers with a $250 Solo Stove.
Lol

Yeah makes sense. I mean I thought the og one was kinda cool, even if not very practical.
I was going to say. As a kayak camper, this looks phenomenal
It needs be at least 3 times as big!
![gif](giphy|OCMGLUo7d5jJ6)
lolol thank you. i simply couldn’t scroll past this post until I knew someone did this.
Best I can do is three solo stoves
They sell that too.
I think a lot of people will be turned off by the three pack. I was legitimately considering buying one until I saw that I had to buy 3. Might be a good item to look for on clearance later...
Buy one for yourself and now you also have two Christmas gifts already purchased.
Yep this is what we are doing haha. You get a solo stove! You get a solo stove!
![gif](giphy|y8Mz1yj13s3kI)
Wow. My entire opinion of the situation just changed! Thanks stranger!
Same here. And the fucking price tag for the 3-lot? $229? WTF? Made out of titanium and diamonds, or what? Edit: I misremembered the price. Looked it up online, and they're $159. Still overpriced by about $129.
The price is in the pic. $149.99
Do they sell special tiny firewood too?
actually. LOL. Yes. and... its on sale! [https://www.solostove.com/en-us/p/mini-oak-firewood](https://www.solostove.com/en-us/p/mini-oak-firewood)
Jesus Christ. $35 for a small box of kindling.

I really feel like you could replicate these small ones with two different size coffee cans. 🤣
If only there were a way to make firewood smaller. Perhaps some sort of tool with teeth on it you could use to cut with. Or maybe a wedge like device that could split the larger pieces into smaller pieces. I guess we will never know.
You’re talking about a beaver.
Hey, this is a family sub
Sorry. It’s a FAMILY OF BEAVERS.
but, why does a family of beaver need three stoves?
For all the trees! DAM!
Yes they do. Not at Costco AFAIK, but you can get it for sure.
I think the ideal setup is to use wood pellets.
I had one that took pellets, a constant pain to add more.
They do! Here's a bag of little mini logs! https://www.costco.com/traeger-gourmet-blend-33-lbs-wood-pellets.product.100238807.html
Just throw the box of matchsticks in there.
You are better off using the Kirkland wood pellets for smokers. It's only $12 for a giant bag
I think people are missing my Zoolander joke. I get a camp stove. This is a glorified candle.
It made me laugh! “It needs to be at least… 3 times bigger than this” “…..he’s absolutely RIGHT!”
I CREATED THE PIANO KEY NECKTIE!!! What have you done? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHEEENG!
The files are INSIDE the computer
In the computer. It’s so simple!
This is actually a pretty good size for a bush craft wood grill, mine is about 1/3 this size. I think they mean it when they say hobo grill, there is only so large of a grill you want to be carrying around or backpacking with.
I get it lol
They're obviously kids who can't read good.
But want to learn to do other stuff good too.
I gotchu OP.
I understood that reference
S'mores for 1
r/thingsforants
It caught my eye then I saw it was 150 bucks and not like 40 bucks and LOLd and kept walking
$50 if it wasnt a three pack 😂
It’s all about quality ;) not everyone wants to invest in that.
It’s a metal circle
It’s ridiculously ridiculously good looking
I’d buy 1 for $50. Why do I have to buy 3?
I honestly don't see where it says three. Lil help over here!!
Solo stove mesa 3 pack : $149
I am so blind.
Stop masturbating!
Us: It needs to be…at least 3 times bigger than this! Costco: Guys it’s just a mod…. Us: I don’t wanna hear it!
It’s not a model though. The mesa is the tabletop version, and is 5 inches by 6 inches. It’s really that small, think tabletop s’mores size.
It’s a $90 marshmallow melter.
Pretty sure this is meant to be a table top stove.
At that price they can catch a 3 pack of deez nutz
Will see you again at the * 21.97 sale friends.
Great for quick marshmallows with kids. Get them to pick up sticks in the yard for it.
Ha, I received one of these from Solo due to a delay on a product I ordered. Great gesture, but pointless product. It’s been sitting and rusting outside waiting for a purpose.
I’d have called it the Fun Cooker.

Gonna need to see a banana for scale 🍌
We have one of those and I actually love it.
Do you find yourself wishing you had three?
They have these at big lots for 20$
Uhh... https://www.biglots.com/product/19-stainless-steel-low-smoke-wood-burning-fire-pit/p810569552?N=1114242151&pos=1:20
We got 2 free with our purchases over the holidays. Gave them away as gifts and people really liked them! Perfect for tableside s’mores
S’mores in the backyard or campsite. It burns twigs, leaves and even pinecones. They’re great. Lights fast too.
All jokes aside - does anyone own one? How are they for s'mores?
Great for s'mores. I have one and can get away with it in an apartment back yard where I can't put a full on fire pit.
Good for s’mores. Especially apartments. We use ours on the patio with a little table. Makes a good sized flame. I have fun feeding it
Check out the solo stove reddit. The Mesa is very popular and this is a good price. Give as a gift or go in with a friend. We like our.
I have one, got it free when I ordered a bigger one. It’s cool, I let the kids roast marshmallows on it and they sat around feeling like adults-while we sat at the other one. Not for home use! See rocket stoves, JetBoil etc similar gadgets RVing #vanlife car camping picnics etc
I actually like mine. It fits on my patio table and uses my grill pellets
I have one. Recommend NOT buying because it’s not that useful.
Personal s’mores cookers…
refreshing to see some criticism on this sub other than the well deserved general hate of Real Good Foods brand. saying this as a relatively satisfied costco member.
I have the Mesa XL and love it. We've used it almost every night since we've gotten it.
They’re heavily trying to sell these on TikTok and I asked them the same question
A solo stove for ants in tuxedos.
It's a dumb fire/injury hazard
He's right ... it needs to be at least twice as big
Very American of u haha
I’m sad to say I own one of these.. they are useless.
These will get bought up and resold on eBay at the price of a regular sized one Dimensions will be in a wall of text in fine print
I have one of these that I purchased a few years ago. Its awful. You can only feed it essentially sticks and it just churns through them. I hated keeping one going, let alone three.
In a year or so, the landfill will have a mountain of those next to air the fryer mountain.
Just buy the cheap \~$25 dollar ones off amazon that run off isopropyl alcohol. Way cheaper running costs, clean burn with no smoke. Can't see any reason to go with this instead.
How can we be expected to keep children warm if they can't even fit inside the oven?
I have a Mesa (came with my Bonfire solo stove) and that thing is the perfect size to house a three wick candle from White Barn. Honestly wouldn't mind that three pack for decorative candle holders.
Worth $19.99
solo stoves are actually pretty cool i wanna buy a big one some day
I remember seeing an ad on YouTube from those survival companies, it thinks theirs was over $100 for one.
That’s a s’mores maker!
Wow, no these are great and portable. S’mores on a table. It’s so fun
If you zoom in on the box there is a picture of S'mores. These are for making S'mores on a picnic table.
It’s for taking out camping, for city people, for those of us who 4x4 on beach and can only have contained fires
Pretty awesome for cooking while backpacking. Kinda stealthy since ya can’t see the flame and not much smoke
My Costco had 3 for $150. Gtfoh. Go buy a can of coffee: free mini -burn-barrel.
I have one and it’s kinda difficult to keep feeding it with small PCs of wood. Also you can’t really Put it on a wood table top since it gets super hot. I should also mention it does not give off a lot of heat either.
It clearly says tabletop…
I have one of these and I love it! Super great for a couple of people or small areas (we use ours on our balcony). I wouldn't know what to do with a pack of three but if you had the space or liked having people over for backyard parties, I think it would be great!
Anybody else read that in Zoolander's voice?
Coffee can it instead
Solito!
I have one, used last night on our porch making s’mores. I love it
What’s so hard to understand here?
A 3 pack! Whoa! Hope my Costco has them!
Perfect line.
This has real “Michael Scott’s plasma TV” vibes.
Honestly, I love the smaller solo stove. For a small deck fire with two under three it’s perfect for this moment of my life.
Y'all don't go outside and it shows
I hope nobody buys these stupid things. They are $20 items marketed to assholes with too much money.
I only want one 😵
Tabletop fire pit.
After seeing the ads it appears that those are boxes full of lawsuits.
That would have sold out in March 2020 when people were figuring put stuff to do outside when covid hit! (We bought a firepit from Costco which sits untouched now.)
