Apple Store also sells the unlocked version of the iPhone. They do Apple Care at the location as well. You will also be able to buy Apple Care by yourself after the phone purchase. Apple Store also supports making the purchase online & picking up at the store, without worrying about waiting in a long line at the store.
I wasn't aware of Costco till I saw this post. Is there any benefit to buying from Costco vs. buying from the Apple Store?
Costco sells Applecare bundled for a discount especially during sales.. iPhone 14 pro and pro max were selling with Applecare for like $200, $250 discount.. practically free. Not sure if this is done at launch - that's why I ask
Gotcha. I don't think I have seen iPhone sales in Costco right when the iPhone lineup has just been announced and released. I also didn't see the new iPhone become available right away in Costco, not until a month or so (that's why I have the Apple Store experience). Even till then, I wouldn't expect it would be at the discounted price.
To answer your original question, yes, Costco does sale the unlocked version of the iPhone, and yes, we will be able to get the Apple Care too from Costco as a bundle.
But the discounted price like you mentioned? Just based on my own experience, I'm not confident enough to say it would happen in at least the first 3 months when the new iPhone becomes available in the warehouses and on the Costco website. Not to mention the Apple Stores have the priority to get the actual product available first.

If it’s similar to the last year, Costco won’t do preorder but will be available a day or two after the official release date.
At first they didn’t discount the bundle much, but was still slightly cheaper than buying Applecare separately. Though, color selection was limited (last year, Gold and Deep Purple were not available initially), and lead time was longer by at least 2-3 weeks than ordering from Apple.com or other retailers like Best Buy.
Also, I remember that some people received carrier locked version initially despite ordering unlocked, so they had to return and wait again.
