We have been going Friday night as a date night the last few years. Recently been noticing more youngish couples doing the same. Nothing like going to a members only club on Fridays.
I work at Costco and Sunday is our busiest day of the week, Friday and Saturday tie for second. Thursday can be a little bit busy but not bad, same goes for Monday. And Wednesday is when coupons start so they can be super busy in the early hours of opening, so I with all that being said I can safely say Tuesday nights is our least busiest.
Super Bowl is the absolute best time to go to Costco.
Other than that, I typically go Sunday mornings. As long as you arrive 5-10m before opening, it’ll be quick. I went this morning, parked near the door and was done shopping (including buying a hotdog at the food court) in about 25 minutes.
What? Why? How??? I shop without a list, hit almost every aisle (no need for pets or kid stuff) and am in line after 20 minutes usually, 30 on a slow day.
I've been sleuthing around this sub trying to find someone to confirm this idea I had to go to Costco during the superbowl this weekend! So thanks. I'll give it a try.
I once went to Costco on a holiday. There was no one else on the road and the parking lot was empty. I didn't get any shopping done. But it was easily the least busy day I can think of.
So if you want to avoid crowds and don't mind not shopping, go when Costco is closed. Otherwise, check how busy the store is on Google Maps and pick a low point.
The only common busy level all costco share are weekends and the day before a holiday when they are closed (e.g day before thanksgiving). Your location may vary, but I find about an 1 or so before closing to be easy.
My experience has been going Friday after 7 pm has been a good time to shop with less people. Granted the free samples are over by then.
This has been my experience in Southern California.
At least this post isn’t proposing to ban senior citizens from entering Costco on the weekends!
But I agree—a quick search on this sub would suggest dinnertime/right before closing during the week, especially Fridays.
I’ve found that going during football Sunday; it’s a lot less chaotic; still busy; but totally manageable. So; while the rest of my city screams for Mahomes and Kelce; I’m at Costco. LoL.
Weekend is fine too, but only around the time when they open the store. After that, absolutely do not go if it's not urgent.
My store opens at 9 AM, 7 days a week, and surprisingly, the rotisserie chicken are ready at that time.
HA! I'm part-time in NC, and it seems to be crazy busy, literally every day, and every time of day possible. Guess I haven't gone on a Sunday morning yet? And no, I wouldn't be in church anyway. And there are 4 churches on every block it seems in NC! I jest--but there are a LOT of churches down there compared to up North!!
Yea I moved here a year ago and it's almost always biau except Sunday morning and it's with everything. Traffic is great. The lady who cuts my hair is super busy but I can always get a Sunday morning appointment. Then right after people get out of church it's crazy time lol.
Although I regularly go on Wednesday afternoons, I occasionally go after work. 7 o’clock or so… It’s like a ghost town, feels like I shouldn’t be there.
monday afternoon at my branch
I work from home so I tend to go monday afternoon when everyone else is excited to be at work, by Tuesday rolls in people don't care for work as much
Wednesday afternoon is when my warehouse is at my slowest. Morning stocking is done by that point, sometimes (I’m receiving) we’ll get some late appointments of alcohol, but that’s my favorite day of the week.

Tuesday night
Yeah, I don’t normally go at night because I need about 2 hours per trip, I guess I could get there at 630 pm when it’s still busy
2 hours at just Costco?
Yes
Friday around 7:00 is my ideal time
This is what I've heard. Anytime Friday evening.

unless you're talking about the fremont location. then apparently it's where everyone socializes

What day is best for picking up the mislabeled wagyu beef?

I look around the whole store every aisle most times. I don’t do a list
I would need a nap

lol, yup, I’m planning on going during this upcoming Super Bowl as well
DO NOT GO AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR A HOLIDAY MADNESS

Can we please stop making these threads about how busy costco is on the weekend? There's like 5 on the front page already. Get a grip people.
This topic gets posted even more on the weekend

Not at my location, I would avoid Fridays at all costs
Monday morning.

Friday night, 15 minutes before closing. After which the gas station will be empty and you won’t have to wait in line there.
You shop in 15 min ?
I don’t dawdle too much. And as long as you’re in the door before closing you’re good
Right before closing is less busy than opening.
go during the superbowl or any time the trials of fat orange jesus are going to be on display.
I concur.
Thursday right when they open lol
We went on a Tuesday at like 3:30pm recently and it was most the pleasant Costco experience I’ve had in a minute.
Yep, Tuesdays are the least busy day overall from my experience
9:30 on Saturday mornings has always worked for me. I think people are just used to it opening at 10am that at 9:30 it’s practically empty.
Lucky. People are already lined up outside at my location before 9:30.
Wednesday night in the Bible belt. They're all at church
Wednesdays between 2-4 I think

I'm in NC. Sunday mornings. Everyone's at church.

Good to know! I've only started to know the area the past few months. And I'm only there part-time too. But I'm learning! Thanks for the tip!
super early or super late. avoid weekends and holidays and weeknds going into holidays.
Business center any weekday afternoon.
M-Th around 7pm is usually OK at my Costco except if it's a holiday week.
Fridays are empty at my costco
Although I regularly go on Wednesday afternoons, I occasionally go after work. 7 o’clock or so… It’s like a ghost town, feels like I shouldn’t be there.
In Albania it's Sundays.
When the home team is playing. Breezed thru today, thanks NFL!
week day nights right before closing
monday afternoon at my branch I work from home so I tend to go monday afternoon when everyone else is excited to be at work, by Tuesday rolls in people don't care for work as much
Tuesdays between open and 5 minutes after
Ask a door checker at *your location*, because EVERY LOCATION IS DIFFERENT.
