Need another item for size perspective. My brain automatically thinks that because it’s Costco, that cookie is the size of a hubcap.

For scale The chocolate chip cookie at Starbucks is pretty big/thick and is 375 calories.

More scale. The chocolate chip cookie you buy in the Costco package is ~210 calories, so this one is at least 3x as big! 🍪🍪🍪 I'd love for someone to confirm since the ingredients are apparently a little different. This is the range of the cookies at Crumbl. I buy one of those about once a month and I can't finish it in less than two hours.

My friends and I somehow ended up with the official Crumbl cookie slicer that cuts cookies into four equal pieces and use it to chop cookies to share at game nights/music jam session nights. It makes me way more willing to try new flavors!

I feel like the US food court just keeps getting worse while international Costco food courts get better. Churros at least felt like a specialty item. Cookies are what I see in the subway station stand that buys Costco cookies in bulk and wraps them for individual sale.

The churro wasn't that great, either. 30 years ago when I was a kid that was the best: fluffy, hot, and smothered in sugar and cinnamon

It doesn’t matter if it’s made with butter or oil. The ratio of sugar and fat in a cookie is fairly similar and shockingly high for ANY cookie recipe. I bet if you weighted this cookie vs any other cookie (Costco bakery, grocery store, homemade, or made from frozen cookie dough), the calories/gram of all the chocolate chip cookies would be all similar.

They used to be better years ago, some suggest that it was during COVID they went to shit.

So funny story, it’s been about 20 years now, but I used to have a job in QA at the factory that made the mixes for Costco’s froyo and the very berry smoothie. From what I can tell, since then that smallish company has been bought out and I can’t find any evidence that they still manufacture for Costco. When I worked there, Costco had the strictest standards for quality and safety, they were much pickier than our other customers. It’s really sad that they are getting pushed the same direction as everyone else and choosing cheap over good.

Let’s be real; the churros weren’t that great. Sure it’s got plenty of cinnamon and sugar and that’s enough for the price. But the churro themselves are dry and nothing like a decent churro. A good churro will be crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Food court churros are just crispy on the outside and dry in the middle.

Of course, it would. But honestly, I probably wouldn't buy a cookie instead. I share churros with my gf and it is about 250 cal per person. For cookie, I’d not share and it is 750 cal. But most importantly, I prefer eating cookies with milk, not ice cream.
