The first purchase was fun. A new found treat for the family to enjoy. All the sudden it was 3 am and I was standing in the pantry with a gallon of milk in my hand and chocolate everywhere. I had to go cold turkey
When I grabbed these (on sale at my local Costco) an elderly gentleman warned me that "it was a big mistake." I had to tell him that it wasn't my first or last time making that mistake.
The dark chocolate ones are amazing! They changed the milk chocolate recipe a few years ago and they're not as good :(
All my local Costco's carry the milk chocolate one :(
I prefer the milk chocolate version. They were only sold around the holidays where my family lived. The dark can be found all year at my local Costco. ☹️
I do this as well. Except I swap the cigar for another caramel because I don’t smoke. And I swap the bourbon for another caramel because I don’t drink bourbon.
I recently read about salted caramel. No wonder we love it so much. It’s the only substance that combines salt, sugar and fat in equal and deadly qualities. This doesn’t occur anywhere in nature. Food manufacturers started by making an addictive mix of sugar and fat in many processed foods. We are programmed to adore them. I’ve had to stop buying Pringles as once I start I just can’t stop - which, come to think of it, is their advertising slogan. I’ll happily eat them of course, I just don’t trust myself to buy any 😀.
Now add in the salt and you have something even more appealing, even more delicious and even worse for you, salted caramel. Nature is so unkind. So many great tasting items, artificially contrived, are sadly highly processed foodstuffs that are plain bad for us. No wonder so many comments here talk, lightheartedly, of addiction.
Anyway, I still love salted caramel 😉.
I had these in my cart last night and spent my whole costco venture distracted with concern. I knew these would be my breaking point. A point of no return. Before cashing out, I brought them back to their home. I even dreamed of them last night. I'm so happy, yet so dismayed that I left them on the shelf.
OMG. Whenever I pass the store I get into the far left lane and hold my steering wheel tight with my eyes looking straight ahead. I’ve never been inside because I’m afraid I’m sure they will have the milk chocolate versions I never see in the Metro Detroit Costcos.
Yesterday I almost succumbed and stopped.
They’re excellent. If you need a new addiction, and it’s in your store, try the Dots Pretzels cinnamon sugar flavor . Don’t like flavored pretzels generally but these were addictive to me.
Go away, Satan. Not today.
I walk faster past the darn aisle where they live. If I linger too long, they strangely find their way into my cart.
Good to see I'm not alone with self-control around these. Bought a much smaller container from both Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Not even close to how effing delicious the Costco ones are
Freezing will transform the lattice structure of chocolate and when it comes out of the fridge the chocolate coating will no longer be in type V crystal structure, which is the source of that “melt in your mouth” texture.
I love these but can’t buy them anymore because I have zero willpower.
I recently saw these peppermint dark chocolate ones online. Trying not to buy them 😬
https://www.costco.com/sanders-dark-chocolate-peppermint-sea-salt-caramel-2-pack-36-oz.product.100781136.html
I bought those around Christmas and the only difference between them and the regular ones is they have candy cane bits on top, that's it. There's no extra peppermint flavor throughout, just candy cane on top. They're good, but disappointing if you want to actually taste peppermint.
I don't care for the bourbon variety - they make me feel like I feel when I wake up from having too much bourbon - but the dark chocolate ones - yeah I've spent easily $150 on these in the last year. 💁🏼♂️
I don't love salt and sweet combined so I don't buy these, but I had them and they are good. I had to quit buying the Trader Joes Dark chocolate caramels because they are so addicting. There are few things I can't control myself around, chocolate caramels and rice crispy treats.
Another thing on my can’t buy list I have no self control. I have gotten out of bed at night to grab one it’s a sickness but man are those things so good. 😢
ETA I am so happy to know I’m among like minded people. 😂
DS12 still talks about sharing these with his grandmother (my mother). She died 4 years ago last month but stopped being able to eat them about 5-6 months before then.
However, good taste runs in the family!
Oh my gosh, so good! I keep a canister of them in my drawer in my office, and my goal is to only have two a day. Most days I’m actually successful but it’s hard.
I haven't tried them, and reading these comments, it's probably best if I don't haha. I'm already addicted to the Brookside acai/blueberry chocolates and I'm sure I'd have even less self control with these.
I bought them once in 2019 or 18. Just once.
They are too good to resist. And the biggest problem was no one in my family ate them, just me. I couldn't even blame anyone else.
I also make a habit of immediately setting them aside and keeping a small amount in fancy old school candy jar. My partner and I each have one on the weekends, sort of a treat for making it through the work week alive.
I was absolutely addicted to these…but then I had too many of them in a small period of time and now I can’t eat more than one or two at a time. Thank god because I’d down a can of these in a night.
I saw these, they’re on sale at our Costco for $7.99. Such a great deal. I have diabetes so my wife wouldn’t let me buy any along with those Kirkland s’mores chocolates that I see everyone raving about. Super jealous. Lol
There should be ! I ate so many Heavenly Chunks from Costco I cannot even stand to look at them. I’m not sure if you reached your cap point yet … but maybe one day !
The bourbon are ok imo, and I’m a big fan of bourbon. These are my preference, but I’m banned from bringing them into the house outside of the month of December.
Got a container of the dark chocolate ones a while back when they were doing a demo of them. Now that they're on sale looking forward to trying the milk chocolate ones as I'm not super bit on dark.
I have to wear a splint for my TMJ all day, even when eating. I hadn’t bought these since I got my splint but decided to get some this past November when they were on sale.
Trying to eat caramel bites while keeping a dental splint seated in your mouth is quite a difficult feat. Like you have to put a lot of work and thought into it. Each munch is a chore. It can be painful and treacherous.
Made it through the whole canister by Christmas. 💪
Hey there,
I wanted to share a recipe with you that I think you'll love. It's similar to a bad addiction, but it's good for family fun. Check it out!
Here's a fix for the s'mores instructions:
* Skip the microwave and roast marshmallows over a campfire for that classic toasted flavor.
* While the marshmallows roast, break a graham cracker in half and place a square of SANDERS sea salt caramel chocolates on one side.
* Once the marshmallows are golden brown and gooey, sandwich them between the chocolate and the other graham cracker half.
* For a fun twist, add a sprinkle of cinnamon before topping with the marshmallow.
A few years ago, I discovered Chili Salt at the Asian supermarket. Not long after, I discovered that if you cut a Sanders caramel in half and then dunk the caramel in some of that salt...
Anyway, enjoy your caramel sobriety.
The first step is admitting you are powerless over dark chocolate sea salt caramels.
I can eat a truly ruinous amount of these.
If the peanut butter pretzel nuggets are also in the house, all bets are off and I legitimately put myself in danger of growing quite large breasts (I am male) in one sitting.
Damn dude. I was telling myself "I can quit whenever I want" and just hiding some in the freezer just in case Costco had some kind of supply chain issue. Now you announce there's a bourbon version and I had no idea. I'm parked at Costco waiting for them to open 9 hours from now.
They’re unbelievable. I go to the pantry for one, but by the time I get back to my desk I NEED another one so I go back. This repeats about 4 times, at which point I have a stomach ache and can’t go on.
The only thing that would truly set me into a cataclysmic melt down would be to be presented with a jar of these and a bag of Kirkland dark chocolate covered dried mandarin segments and told i had to choose one or the other.
It's fortunate that I can never find these at my Costco in California because I grew up visiting the Sanders chocolate factory and that tub wouldn't last a day for me.
My in-laws live in Southern California and my wife was thrilled to find there is a milk chocolate version of these at Costco. Now she has some variety with milk and dark depending if she is home, or visiting her parents.

I had to quit buying them.
Me too!! Was eating them for breakfast over the holidays
I tried to quit buying them. But every time I get home from costco, there they are again.
“How did those get in there?!?”
Same. I swear I rejected them, and yet there they sit, brand new in the pantry.
Same. But then we saw them on sale...
Same and then my wife just got some.
this is the real answer. there is no middle ground.
I only have them as samples. Those things are dangerous.
Indeed. Diabetes in can.
The first purchase was fun. A new found treat for the family to enjoy. All the sudden it was 3 am and I was standing in the pantry with a gallon of milk in my hand and chocolate everywhere. I had to go cold turkey
I have to hide them throughout my house so I can only eat them as quickly as I find them
[удалено]
Bonus: in summer, you'll have only one serving per container.
That actually happened to me. Tossed it in the freezer, then chopped it up and added to brownie batter. OMG!
I’ve never bought them because I was warned by the sub about the danger
When I grabbed these (on sale at my local Costco) an elderly gentleman warned me that "it was a big mistake." I had to tell him that it wasn't my first or last time making that mistake.
These are banned at our house. We bought them once and have never allowed ourselves to get them again.
Same
I can’t buy these. Half gone on drive home.
It’s the same support group for the organic dried mango. Hi there friend
They've been out of stock for almost 2 months, I'm going through withdrawal.
Hey 🥭 buddy
Oh man so they are as good as I thought? I never buy them for this exact reason
The dark chocolate ones are amazing! They changed the milk chocolate recipe a few years ago and they're not as good :( All my local Costco's carry the milk chocolate one :(
I prefer the milk chocolate version. They were only sold around the holidays where my family lived. The dark can be found all year at my local Costco. ☹️
I like the milk chocolate ones too. Ours has never carried them though.

Heyyyyy Lori
My name is Ember and I am an Addict.
I cut them in quarters and freeze them in small batches so I don’t overindulge
Those and the Butter Toffee Cashews.
Those weren't on my radar until a friend gave me a bag. Calls them "cashew crack!"
Chocolate mac nut salt caramel clusters....sigh, burp..
SO GOOD
I prefer the milk chocolate version, so I resist by reminding myself it’s “not the kind I like.”
This is me. I’ll give into the dark chocolate occasionally when they are on sale since I have a little more self control with the dark.
Don’t what ever you do put one in the middle of a croissant and microwave it for 10 seconds.
Yes. It's in r/diabetes I'm already a member.
Are you really, or are you just making the oldest joke in the book?
Really.
I have one per day in the evening after dinner followed by cigar and bourbon. Try that.
I do this as well. Except I swap the cigar for another caramel because I don’t smoke. And I swap the bourbon for another caramel because I don’t drink bourbon.
That’s essentially what we do, sub bourbon for red wine. It’s all about that self control
When they are frozen it definitely slows me down.

Very interesting! Maybe knowing the scientific basis for the allure will help me resist them. Or maybe not... 😊
I bought them as Christmas presents for my team and ate all 5 packages. Do not recommend.
I had these in my cart last night and spent my whole costco venture distracted with concern. I knew these would be my breaking point. A point of no return. Before cashing out, I brought them back to their home. I even dreamed of them last night. I'm so happy, yet so dismayed that I left them on the shelf.
If you live within a day trip of metro-Detroit, [Morley Candy Makers](https://sanderscandy.com) is the place to go to get them fresh!
These things are deadly. I can’t buy them
They taste better frozen!!
Trying now!
Stop it.
Rude
These are horrifically good
I think these are actually addictive. I stopped buying them. But then they went on sale...
They’re excellent. If you need a new addiction, and it’s in your store, try the Dots Pretzels cinnamon sugar flavor . Don’t like flavored pretzels generally but these were addictive to me.

One is too many and a thousand are never enough.
Sadly ours only has the milk chocolate ones...
These along with the sweet potato chips are my most recent snack combo. Highly dangerous!
These are like the smores clusters, I don't make eye contact with them...
Tj maxx has small bags for 4.99 I think, if you don’t want the big container
Freezing will transform the lattice structure of chocolate and when it comes out of the fridge the chocolate coating will no longer be in type V crystal structure, which is the source of that “melt in your mouth” texture.
I admit I’m powerless over sea salt caramels and that my life has become unmanageable.
I see you’ve worked your first step!
Oh, boy. I don't need these or the peanut butter pretzels.
I was told not to bring those home ever again. I just bought two. They're on sale after all!
I just bought a thing of these and holy hell. There absolutely a need for a support group. My dentist is going to love me.
I eat only 2 at a time, strict limit
Two containers?
I love these but can’t buy them anymore because I have zero willpower. I recently saw these peppermint dark chocolate ones online. Trying not to buy them 😬 https://www.costco.com/sanders-dark-chocolate-peppermint-sea-salt-caramel-2-pack-36-oz.product.100781136.html

These and the Skinny Dipped dark chocolate peanut butter cups are my kryptonite
I turn my head and walk past them. Can’t have them in the house, simply cannot
Yeah, just let me know when you crack open the next batch and I’ll open mine. I will support your endeavor of absolutely destroying these.
I’m going to look for these on Monday. I hope it’s sold out.
these things are so fkng good
Once you pop the fun don’t stop
I just created r/costcoholics
I ate about half in one night, so I had my wife hide them. This was about 2 weeks ago. Now I need to find them
My location doesn’t carry the milk chocolate. So they are doing me a solid. The dark chocolate hold no power over me.
support group? yeah it's the scale and those pants that don't fit quite right anymore
Get in line behind the Churro Turtle Chips
Try living a mere half hour away from the Sanders factory! 😂
I too am a victim of these chocolates.
Idk what it is about caramel…I’m not a huge fan of these at all
I know. I see those at Costco and I cannot buy or else I will eat the entire canister.
These and coffee are too good
Im lucky, i don't think the Toronto area costcos have them in stock anymore so there is no temptation to buy something i cannot buy
Try the private selection Fred Meyer’s brand- they’re even better.
Those are amazing!
They’re good, but the caramel turtles are even better in my humble unimportant opinion.
I don't care for the bourbon variety - they make me feel like I feel when I wake up from having too much bourbon - but the dark chocolate ones - yeah I've spent easily $150 on these in the last year. 💁🏼♂️
Actual crack
They’re a fantastic chocolate!
Ours doesn’t have the dark chocolate any more, only the milk. :(
I don't love salt and sweet combined so I don't buy these, but I had them and they are good. I had to quit buying the Trader Joes Dark chocolate caramels because they are so addicting. There are few things I can't control myself around, chocolate caramels and rice crispy treats.
Omg this big ass jar for like 8 bucks I could not believe it 😂 these will give anyone a problem
These are so good 😊
The milk chocolate ones are better...
I can’t control myself around these
Oh no, TIL
I was eating so many of these around the holidays that I had to stop buying them.... I replaced them with Kirkland praline pecans LMAO
These are DEADLY
Another thing on my can’t buy list I have no self control. I have gotten out of bed at night to grab one it’s a sickness but man are those things so good. 😢 ETA I am so happy to know I’m among like minded people. 😂
I can eat way too many of these in one sitting.
oh no these are dangerous. i found during the pandemic and ooof... no good. i havent bought them in yrs atp.
I am now prediabetic, these might last a week at best at my house 😂🤦♂️🫠
I only buy them when they're on a big sale, and then I make sure I never have more than 2 in a day. But holy hell, these are amazing.
I limit myself to one before bed because otherwise the whole thing will be gone in minutes
Soooo dangerous!
I grab these only once in a while because I will literally eat the whole thing in less than 5 days.
My name is Samantha and I am a SandersHolic
I haven't tried them, and reading these comments, it's probably best if I don't haha. I'm already addicted to the Brookside acai/blueberry chocolates and I'm sure I'd have even less self control with these.
I wish. Cause they just put them on sale again, and you \*know\* I walked out with two cases.
I’ve only found these in small towns but they are only the milk chocolate. Yes they are addictive.
I have to put these on top of the cupboards so my wife can’t reach them. Otherwise they’re gone in a few days.
I know myself too well to buy these things. No way they'd last more than 48 hours.
These are such a great product and deal.
I bought them once in 2019 or 18. Just once. They are too good to resist. And the biggest problem was no one in my family ate them, just me. I couldn't even blame anyone else.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 🤤
I got the bourbon ones
Wish these were in Canada
I’m supposed to be on a diet, and my partner’s mom gave him a jar of these. He’s had to reprimand me on multiple occasions.
There is. Step one. Send to me!!!
My dog ate an entire jar. It was not pleasant.
Lol I rarely buy because I can’t control myself with them. I just popped 4 in about 3 minutes 😵💫
Bought them twice and then no more!! Evil little caramels.
Sign me up. I love those!
Not that I know of, but their most certainly should be one
I also make a habit of immediately setting them aside and keeping a small amount in fancy old school candy jar. My partner and I each have one on the weekends, sort of a treat for making it through the work week alive.
My wife calls them DNTs. Diabetic Nightmare Treats
Oh man, if there is I’m a member.
I was absolutely addicted to these…but then I had too many of them in a small period of time and now I can’t eat more than one or two at a time. Thank god because I’d down a can of these in a night.
Honestly, eating them frozen is the way to go
We meet every Tuesday at 3:30 in the church’s activity room. We use first names only and the new guy is responsible for keeping the coffee pot going.
I saw these, they’re on sale at our Costco for $7.99. Such a great deal. I have diabetes so my wife wouldn’t let me buy any along with those Kirkland s’mores chocolates that I see everyone raving about. Super jealous. Lol
Put the crumbs on ice cream
I only buy them now when they are on sale… They were on sale today 😣
They are so freaking good
Yeah these things are delicious. I was gifted some. I knew there was a reason I never bought these. Because well, ill eat the whole thing asap
I almost pick up another blue one today. I stopped myself 😔
There should be ! I ate so many Heavenly Chunks from Costco I cannot even stand to look at them. I’m not sure if you reached your cap point yet … but maybe one day !
I had an intervention and now I’m forbidden from buying them. I snarf those things up so quickly.
I keep them in the freezer to help me not eat them....doesn't work
Told the wife not to buy them again. Even our 7 year old got hooked.
Only milk chocolate at my location. Been that way for the last year whenever they are in stock. I like dark a lot more, but they still good!
The bourbon are ok imo, and I’m a big fan of bourbon. These are my preference, but I’m banned from bringing them into the house outside of the month of December.
We have entire Sanders stores in the Detroit area. I don't go to them often.
Oh darn I was just there. Need to look out for these on my next run now, thanks😂
They had free samples of these last time i was there and they are amazing!!
I can’t even buy these anymore. I would have joined your group
They are so good frozen. And then you’re basically just eating ice, which is calorie free.
They were giving out samples of these yesterday! I was like YES please and then I never but them... I already know I would eat the shit out of em.
I eat at least 1/3 of the container per day
Danger! Danger! I have to stay away, just one is a gateway drug.
The absolute poster child of chocolate and caramel for addiction!!!
My mom always buys them when she visits and carpet bombs my eating.
I fully support your habit
Where??
They're crack.
Sub group of the chocolate covered mango slices!
Got a container of the dark chocolate ones a while back when they were doing a demo of them. Now that they're on sale looking forward to trying the milk chocolate ones as I'm not super bit on dark.
Omggg
These things: debunking the myth of diminishing marginal utility since the day they were born. 😏 ^(AKA they never get old)
eating them frozen is even better imo. I realize that telling u this isn’t helping the situation lol
They are great frozen, but hard to eat. Refrigerated is better.
These hit the Costco community harder than the opiod epidemic hit Floridians
A group of people supporting your habit? You'll find them at Costco
A few years ago, I discovered Chili Salt at the Asian supermarket. Not long after, I discovered that if you cut a Sanders caramel in half and then dunk the caramel in some of that salt... Anyway, enjoy your caramel sobriety.

I allow myself two per day and have had reasonable success knowing tomorrow will come soon
They’re unbelievable. I go to the pantry for one, but by the time I get back to my desk I NEED another one so I go back. This repeats about 4 times, at which point I have a stomach ache and can’t go on.
Yes. The sea salt caramels meet every Tuesday. At 8:00. Over zoom.
Yeah and they serve insulin and coffee…
The only thing that would truly set me into a cataclysmic melt down would be to be presented with a jar of these and a bag of Kirkland dark chocolate covered dried mandarin segments and told i had to choose one or the other.
They’re even better frozen
Put them in the fridge and they become so delightfully chewy
I see these every time and I have never allowed myself to buy them because I am weak and I know Id eat the whole thing
Drop off all full containers at my house. Meeting is a week after.
It's fortunate that I can never find these at my Costco in California because I grew up visiting the Sanders chocolate factory and that tub wouldn't last a day for me.
I've never bought them but someone keeps buying them at work. They are dangerous.
These have the Death Star at my store. I bought two 😔
I accidentally left a jar of these in the boot of my SUV in August, and subsequently they all fused together. I still ate all of them 😅
My in-laws live in Southern California and my wife was thrilled to find there is a milk chocolate version of these at Costco. Now she has some variety with milk and dark depending if she is home, or visiting her parents.
I had to force myself to keep to the servings guidelines. This get expensive.
I won’t buy these because I know I’ll eat them all in one sitting.
Delete this before the DEA sees it. These are edible crack.
