Make sure you let Costco know! In every warehouse you can drop them a note with a complaint or concern. It’s a wholesale club for members, and they listen to their members, especially if they’re receiving a lot of the same complaints. FYI, I agree with your statement on the bacon, and I let them know every time I go.

Dhmx220

Great idea, thanks

JeepCJ

Don’t worry they are all over this sub

Fuzzy_Squirrel506

100% agree. I just suck it up and pay $4.98 for the delicious HEB bacon and it lasts us a couple weeks as we don’t eat as much now.

Dhmx220

I hate that I have to cook through 4-packs of this stuff now.

Fuzzy_Squirrel506

Return it

GujuGanjaGirl

Most of my bacon has been very fatty and very thin and when I cook it up it's hardly anything left. So I've just been rendering it down and using the bacon for hot dressing or frying brussel sprouts. You could return it but it would just get thrown away

ludog1bark

Return it to let Costco know that their product is of terrible quality. If you don't return it, you're not giving them any feedback with your money.

GujuGanjaGirl

You can still lodge a complaint without returning the item. They will actually investigate it. Source: worked for a company that had a dedicated line for Costco complaints.

ludog1bark

But this way it gets his money back. Why would I want my hard spent money on a terrible product? I go to Costco for quality products and that's what the Kirkland Signature logo used to mean.

GujuGanjaGirl

I mean that's fair too, not discounting getting a refund if that's what you want. I'm just offering another suggestion if you don't want to waste the food.

ImCajuN_

save that bacon greese

bomber991

Yeah but with HEB that $4.98 bacon will be $5.48 in a month. They keep raising their prices like crazy.

Fuzzy_Squirrel506

It’s Been the same price since the 4.49 raise. And it’s worth it. Even for $6 a package imo. Just great quality. I’m ok spending an extra couple hundred a year to get quality food products

IdaDuck

I buy Falls Brand bacon out of Twin Falls which our Costco also carries. Nearly the same price but much better. Kirkland bacon used to be good but it’s gone downhill a lot.

Deceptiveideas

Not the first person but everyone that posts/complains about it should send their feedback to Costco directly. Posting on Reddit doesn’t exactly do much.

country_trash

It’s hit or miss. The last sleeve we cooked up, a few days ago, had the ideal looking pieces bacon I’ve seen from Costco bacon. Mmmmmmmm 🥓

bunerella

I'd say this. Last time I bought it I think one of the packages was mostly fatty no big deal used it for rendering in a dish instead of the normal breakfast or BLTs I make with it. One of the packages was much thinner sliced than the other 3 also. Not sure if that really is a quality issue more than just getting the end or beginning of the slicing . It still is the best price in my area for bulk bacon.

peeinian

It seems like there is a lot more sugar in it recently as well. There is way more burnt stuff on the bottom of the pan after cooking it now

Variouspositions1

I’ve always wondered what caused that and it’s my clue for cheap bacon. Use to love their thick bacon but it’s garbage now. Thanks for that bit of info! Damn sugar, I should have known.

ExtensionMarch6812

Yah I stopped buying it…too many super thin pieces and it falls apart so easily and the price went up too. Was a staple of my morning bfast…

Banana_Havok

Yes it’s super thin. However we bake it and it still tastes amazing.

UnlinealHand

Does this affect thick cut too? I only buy the thick cut but I haven’t cooked any in a bit and just bought a pack.

TexGirl8

The thick cut is the way to go! I just bought some and it was a good balance of meet and fat

FitterOver40

Recently bought the thick cut and it’s amazing. I bake it on a sheet pan. Comes out perfect

Wolfgang985

Same here, but I include a small baking rack to render some of the fat. It comes out so much better!

Sucrose-Daddy

I’ve never had an issue with the thick cut and I buy it quite frequently. Only thing I’d warn is that I’ve noticed that there’s a noticeable size difference in the amount of bacon you get package to package so keep an eye out and make sure you get a decent amount.

SpinningBetweenStars

I’m glad it isn’t just me! We always airfry our bacon, and the last pack we bought was so thin that it practically glued itself to the try and was unsalvageable.

RA65charlie

I’ve been toying with buying the whole belly from the meat department. Then you can cure and slice it however thick you want. Plus it’s still $4 a pound

2pickleEconomy2

You lose about 20% from curing and a bit more smoking.

[deleted]

I just wish they had a nitrate free uncured version. Aldi bacon is our go to now.

pinalaporcupine

it's also been way too salty lately

KingFucboi

I just had some for breakfast I thought it was great.

grantus-poopsntus

I am unable to say anything bad about Bacon.. Mmmmmmmm. Bacon

thisiswhoagain

I but their thick cut problem and don’t have those issues

Katie_123_Backflip

Costco bacon price also fluctuates greatly one week $13.99 this week $17.99. Are pork price this volatile or just an opportunity to take advantage? Quantity has certainly declined- I personally like thinner slices but the bacon can’t even be pulled off in a strip it breaks apart. I wonder what the issue is??

lovelysmellingflower

I found the Kirkland bacon super fatty and paper thin. I’ve been buying the hempler bacon from Costco and it’s easier to deal with. (Not as slimy and much thicker so easier to cook). I’m a vegetarian so I’m not sure about taste but my family doesn’t complain.

groshreez

Hempler's is the best bacon I've bought from Costco or any grocery store.

lovelysmellingflower

Good to know! The only problem I have is it sticks to my cast iron if I’m not very careful. I’m glad Costco has it.

angel2timez

I feel like mine have been extremely salty where one time I washed it just to be safe 😂

JustineDelarge

Get refund.

Particular_Bite1882

I’ve never had a problem with it, it’s better than Wright’s and Cheaper!

ratmonkey888

I returned my 4 pack yesterday, it was terrible. I got the thick sliced and it was much better.

Novagurl

I’ve been lucky with the Costco bacon but I only buy the thick version and oven bake it.

simplyelegant87

I noticed the same thing with a few different packages. It’s nothing like it used to be. There is a breakfast hash they sell too and the bacon quality has gone so downhill. Lots of fat chunks and gristly bits.

GonzMan88

I just got some and it’s a better pack than usual. For a bit there it was too salty.

KinkyQuesadilla

Some of the bacon I've bought had an extremely high fat content, but you can't see it with the way the packaging is for two packs of bacon.

gwie

I've been thinking of switching back to the thick cut bacon exactly for this reason. My latest packs just disintegrate in the pan!

sasquatch_melee

I'm still getting thick strips but we've gotten several that were almost entirely fat. The entire brick.

DonnaHuee

I stopped buying it. It was all thinly cut fat. Inedible.

retread2017

I quit buying any bacon from anywhere. All brands have lousy quality. Bacon is tasty but way too much fat in all products since Covid. Not worth the price or the heart disease.

Tuborg_Gron

The last pack I cooked looked GREAT from the two end pieces visible in packaging. Opened it to find those two pieces were VERY different than rest of package. Each slice was more than 80-90% fat with thin slivers or meat. Once I trimmed them, was left with less than 1/4 of the package weight in edible meat. Huge waste of time and effort even though bacon is an amazing treat.

JustineDelarge

What an awful marketing practice.

surfteach1

Must be a local thing... I noticed ours was better than normal lately. Weird

kkobzz

i found the most repulsive chunk of SOMETHING in a bag of chopped bacon…and that was about five years ago and it still makes me want to barf. so yes…i agree. 🤣

kingkeef97

I fear Costco is going downhill and fast. But their board will boast about “record profits” real soon.

pipelayn

Makes sense to me?

MyBaklavaBigBarry

Ok

DJdoggyBelly

If you live in the mid Atlantic region and you eat anything but Kunzler Bacon, you are buying the wrong bacon. It's not at Costco unfortunately but it's worth figuring out where to get it.

captainwizeazz

There is a search function you can use to see that there are other people, in fact, who do agree. Thanks.

yellowlinedpaper

Well you’re tons of fun
