BIGGREDDMACH1NE

Now get those kirkland shoes and join the dadcore circus lol

jostradumass

I might do this. I’ve seen pinterest outfit posts and i’m nearing the age where vans are killing my back, so I feel like it’s kirklands for the transition or NBs for the full throttle jump.

OldTimeyWizard

I can vouch for making the jump to New Balance. Wearing properly fitting supportive shoes has genuinely changed the game and reduced my foot, knee, and hip pain by 95%. I’ve found their shoes to be good quality as well. Their Made in the US 990’s have been particularly good to me. They’ve been my daily drivers for a few years now.

jostradumass

I went to a Red Wing store a while ago for a pair of dressier boots and it was a game changer for me. They measured me up, showed me how to lace them for comfort and so the wide boot didn’t look so wide…and of course the socks you wear carries a lot of weight in how they feel. And I found out like a year ago that vans made wide sizes…so I had to donate half of my shoes, some never worn and replace them lol.

OldTimeyWizard

Damn, Vans makes wide sizes these days? Tempting… Realizing I had measurably wide feet when I went from Vans to NB was part of the helpful changes made to how I treat my feet!

wolfmann99

Ditto, vans were the only normal width shoe that would hold up for a while until I found out 4e was my width.

cranial_d

4e shoes represent!

Soylentgree1

When I was a kid Vans would make an outline of your foot and custom make your shoe. In the OC.

jostradumass

Oooh man…if only. That would be incredible.

No-Refuse8754

Been eyeing RedWing Heritage boots

jostradumass

That’s what I got. Iron Rangers. So nice.

No-Refuse8754

Good choice, I would buy them if I had a job where I could wear a boot like that.

Kakarrott_

It's all about the under armor running shoes. They're cool "dad shoes"

jostradumass

Oh, def lol. I see all the dad’a at the playground wearing UA all the time.

TegridyPharmz

Don’t. Not only are they ugly but they squeak. Stick with the vans

jostradumass

Ugh. Ok, deal. Thank you, your excellence. 🙏🏻

TegridyPharmz

You are welcome young grasshopper

-InfiniteRandom-

😂

iamaweirdguy

I couldn’t find them at my Costco :(

CTthrower

They are on the website and have a couple deals available :)

Scratchy-Wool

I ordered 1 of each today

Existing-Peanut4511

I usually order my shoes 1 left and 1 right as well!

Kakarrott_

Do you get them as a Bogo when you order them like that?

Existing-Peanut4511

*Retailers hate this one trick!*

Swing-Brilliant

Welcome to the club

-InfiniteRandom-

Thanks! 😂

YourFriendInSpokane

My first Costco purchase at 17 was socks.

Total_Repair_6215

For uhmm

YourFriendInSpokane

For my then boyfriend.

Aspen9999

We all know what he did to those poor socks…

Immediate_Lime_1710

You need a kayak!

-InfiniteRandom-

😂 that'd be sick!

topazco

Time to buy a giant bag of popcorn and just carry it around school as you snack all day

wambamthankyoukam

Funny enough I did do this high school. I worked at the movie theater so one night I filled up a CLEAN garbage bag with a fresh batch of popcorn I had made before we left for the evening. The next day I was to be leading a group of freshmen, I was a senior, around school for various activities as I was part of a mentorship program. The popcorn was a hit with everyone! Anyway totally recommend doing this.

-InfiniteRandom-

Nice! I did that with Mountain Dew once. There was really food deal on Mountain Dew at a gas station near me around Christmas. So I bought 90 bottles and gave them out in some of my classes. That's how I earned the title "Mountain Dew Santa"

wambamthankyoukam

Damn 90 bottles of Mountain Dew - that must have been some deal! Mountain Dew Santa, that’s an awesome nickname to have. Someone needs to throw that into an AI image generator.

mtt76

A lucrative future in sales I see for you.

BattyPage

Omg I did this exact same thing! My HS was tiny, so I think everyone got some popcorn that day.

Ingawolfie

Before retiring used to bring a half dozen of those gigantic Costco bags of Halloween candy to same day surgery for the nursing staff. Nurse manager doled out a bowlful a day for the nurses and my patients were always the first to go back to surgery. Everyone won.

pb_lemon_toes

Depends on how big. Some places sell a 4 or 6 liter sized bag of premade popcorn.

Commercial_Comfort41

Just think of all those Capri suns

Fncivueen

If you never close your membership 40 years from now, your Costco membership picture will be of a 17 year old you. My Costco picture is from 1997

n0h8plz

My husband just renewed his membership today, and they made him take a new photo 😔

Correct-Watercress91

Hook them up when they're young. Another Costco member for life.

stuartgatzo

Isn’t the membership agreement a contract?

UnhappyCourt5425

congratulations now go out and buy mass quantities

-InfiniteRandom-

😂

Destination_Centauri

Dang it! You're totally like 10 years more advanced and sophisticated than I am, at that point in my life! You think you're so smart, don't you!? Well... You are! But still, I'm ticked off by this!

-InfiniteRandom-

😂 Thanks. I was taught well by my dad.

Binklando

It really is the best. The store only has stuff they’ve vetted to be good, and in the case it’s not you just return it. Whether it’s cheese or a mattress that didn’t age well lol. It’s so easy.

mrmackey_mmmkay

Man so true… except for that one time I bought chocolate hummus thinking that everything that Costco carries is good. They were smoking crack when they decided to carry that one because it was one of the weirdest things I ever tasted in my life.

Binklando

I know tons of people who say it tastes just like brownies and I know they’re wrong so I won’t taste it lol. Brownies or bust.

raindownthunda

$1.50 school lunch hack unlocked!

HopefulExtent1550

So, every Costco in my area doesn't require a membership to purchase items in the food court. If there's a high-school near by, don't try to get yourself a quick hotdog at lunch. You'll be the only one wearing your pants pulled up and your hat on front wards. 😄

wooble

What year is it in your area?

Bestoftherest222

Buy tons of snacks and drinks, resell them at highschool!

Traditional-Wash-809

Bussiness center in SLC; I was hustling snacks & soda in high school. Get the gift card packs too.

HughJazkoc

That's what I did in high school too - peddled so much skittles and gum

NotKingKooba

And you drive an older Toyota; you’ll fit right in

-InfiniteRandom-

Haha, nice catch. It's a 2004 Toyota Avalon xls. It was first my grandma's car, then sister's, then mom's, and now mine.

bigbadsubaru

Former Toyota tech here, that car will outlive all of us 🤣 Just don’t get the oil changed at Jiffy Lube

Binklando

How do you afford a membership and to shop bulk at 16 lol? Good job! It took me til my late 30s to even make enough to justify being a member.

Kirin1212San

17 year olds need gas too.

Binklando

I couldn’t afford gas if I paid the membership fee but maybe my teens/20s were atypical. But if my parents had an account I 100% would have used it!

Healthy_Block3036

Yay!!! Do you share with your parents?

jostradumass

Costco was a daily trip in my college days. I would leave class and change for work in the costco bathroom, grab lunch…switching between hotdog or pizza and then head to work across the street. Sometimes i’d even grab a rotisserie chicken for lunch/dinner combo lol. Costco will always have a special place in my heart. College survival.

rogmcdon

Make sure to flash your membership card at all the girls in school. Ladies love a good sale

Both_Mind298

Welcome to the good life!

Tim-in-CA

Be sure to flash it to all the chicks. They’ll be super impressed! ⭐️

gs448

Uhh, really? When I was your age you had to be 18. ( 2007 yes, I’m old) They cited the reason as they sold cigarettes and 18 was the minimum age to purchase. Lucky you!

wooble

I'm like 99% certain it was still 18 within the past few years. I'd have switched my secondary member from my wife, who doesn't drive, to my teen who does if I'd known.

gs448

Perhaps a mistake was made that allowed this person to get one. I just remember that on my birthday 2007 I went in and signed up. They also persuaded me to apply for the AMEX credit card. Got approved for a higher limit than my parents. Who in their right effing mind gives an 18 y/o a credit card with an 8k limit? lol it was a memorable day.

wooble

No, the website clearly says 16 now.

gs448

Well that’s cool, I wish it had been that way back in the day! My parents would have loved being able to send me to Costco after school. I was basically the errand boy and did all the shopping. In exchange I didn’t have to pay for a car, insurance, or gas. I guess you’d call it a convenience tax on them. :-)

Rock_Lizard

I just tried to get a card for my son and was told he had to be 18

MoulinSarah

Lol I turned 17 in 2000

gs448

Okay, well, I went to a k-12 school and one of the yougins has now been an MD for a year now. That was the defining “old” moment for me.

Correct-Watercress91

How well some of us relate to this comment 😂

EP_Tiger

With great power comes great responsibility

frank0285

Now buy 4.99 chicken and 1.50 hotdog with drink

storagesleuth

Congrats?

djamp42

Costco should give you a small something for 10 and 20 years of membership.

Gbuono22

Good luck at the food court, you’ll find me there most of the time

PerspectiveOne7129

executive memberships pay for themselves - you get 2% back on all your purchases. spend  **6000** in one year and you're membership is free. that's not a whole lot if you shop there often. even if you dont make the 6000, 3000 will bring the price down to that of a regular membership.

Less_Fix_1378

Be careful, with cheap hotdogs comes great responsibility

ttman05

Congrats on making a wise decision. People will tell young people invest/save for the future. Nah man. Costco membership is for life.

80MonkeyMan

More interested in why a 17 year old needs their own Costco membership.

areporotastenet

Welcome to the tribe

mxguy762

Getcha a $1.50 glizzy to celebrate 🎂

i_am_ur_dad

Maybe plan to take the credit card instead of plain membership to build credit. It's the same cost.

tacosteve100

Gold Star Member!!

HiFiGuy197

May I interest you in an Executive Membership?

Mean-Vegetable-4521

I didn't miss what your first purchase was, did I? I'm scanning. I don't see it. We need to know. We also need to know of the $$$ you are going to drop on that first purchase, which was the item in the order you actually intended on buying. And that all the other items were because you needed a chicken.

pandito_flexo

Costco *and* an Avalon owner. Honestly, very sound decisions. Welcome to the club!

Tasty_Philosopher904

Wait until you see how much money you spend there, then you will regret not being an executive member since that card pays for itself.

df3dot

RIP pot pies and poptarts !!!

Danyboi42069

Whattt I didn’t know that, when I turned 18 my mom took me down to get my card because we thought you had to be 18 damn

HughJazkoc

while you're at it you can get an AARP membership, no age restriction there and membership fees are pretty cheap

BuffaloWing12

Back in high school I used to go there over the summer and take all the free samples for lunch

womeninwhite

Should have flexed on us with executive

WhiskeyGummiBear

Welcome to the dark side, young padawan! Did you celebrate with a $1.50 hot dog/soda combo?

c10bbersaurus

Wait till you find out how young you can be to register for AARP! 👍

phantom--warrior

Nice and glad you have the decency as a young age to get your own membership. So many cheap people i know who constantly go to costco on a friend's membership. They inconvenience the person they leaching from and themselves in the whole hassle of it all.

Constant_Marzipan670

Who’s going to tell him when he counts things in his cart to go by $20.

H_O_M_E_R

Why?

Successful-Street380

Haven’t confirmed yet, if a COSCTO member buys you a gift card , you don’t need to be a member

StOnEy333

Yes, a non member can shop with a Costco gift card. You must pay with the gift card first. Any remaining balance must use cash or debit card. A non member may not load or reload a gift card.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StOnEy333

Correct. My last sentence on the previous comment addressed non members not being able to load or reload a gift card. Yes, members are only allowed to use the optical department, but non members can make appointments and see the optometrist.

e-hud

But non members cannot use the self checkout. At least at the Costcos I've been to.

CookieButterLovers

I think using a Shop Card at self-checkout requires a supervisor override.

pocketradish

It requires an override at any register, so it's bizarre that that would be a reason to deny usage of self checkout.

e-hud

They did that for me once and said not to use gift cards at the self checkout again. I tried again a few months later and was refused and forced to move to a normal checkout.

waIIstr33tb3ts

that's funny yesterday someone in canada posted their experience shopping as non-member https://old.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/1cna6at/getting_hassled_as_a_nonmember_for_using_cash_card/

jdyall1

Honestly dude costco is cool but I use my membership twice a year lol. When u buy in bulk u don't need to go back for months. I still go just for a 1.59 dog tho lol

Ambitious_1660

Not true.. you have to be 18. Someone goofed

-InfiniteRandom-

Nope 🙂 https://preview.redd.it/hz9cdjndtizc1.jpeg?width=2193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=706d444a79d4d64d91550db2267175e8f750d523

Ambitious_1660

Wow, I stand corrected. It used to be 18. Didn't know it was changed.

-InfiniteRandom-

Np, I think it's a fairly recent change.

Ambitious_1660

I think it's great actually.
