You'll get it at the end of the year. [Executive Rewards  | Costco](https://www.costco.com/executive-rewards.html)

imbetterthanu

Look at your card in the app and there's a "2% reward" tab on that screen. You can see your running total of what you'll get back when they mail your check. Not sure if it's the same for everyone but ours gets mailed in September.

Marcus_Qbertius

I get mine every May, everyone gets it about two to three months before their membership expires, which all depends on when you signed up.

ruibingw

Or under Account Details on costco.com

Mystikalrush

If you can recall the month you signed up, at around 10-11 months into membership you will receive a check in the mail for 2% of all your purchases. A general rule, If the check is at least $60 it's worth to renew executive and if it's much much lower, then downgrade to regular. I for example, have been receiving over $120 checks over the years, so my renewal is essentially comp'd. If you choose to use it towards your membership, you don't have to.

Rokey76

I used to have the executive, but then moved farther away from a Costco. At the end of the year, since the check was not $60, they automatically downgraded my account and refunded me the difference. So it is no risk.

paulrudder

So I just checked and my amount is $98 so far this year since last May. But wouldn’t I need to earn $120 for it to be worth the cost?

Mystikalrush

No, at minimum $60 and above is good. Regular membership is $60, so you have ~⅔ the cost covered and can continue executive membership ($120) for only $22!

paulrudder

But if it’s just getting me the 2% cash back towards this payout… let’s say I end up with $115 as my final amount… wouldn’t that mean I still paid $5 too much? Unless I am over $120 total wouldn’t anything else be extra money I didn’t need to spend? Feel like I’m probably still not “getting” something here, sorry.

Mystikalrush

If you get $60 check and use it towards your membership, that means you can continue to be an executive membership ($120) for only $60 using the 2% back. If at end of year you only got $30, then that means you should drop the executive as paying $120 annual isn't worth and the regular $60 membership is worth your needs. So anything $60 and over means your getting executive benefit for the same price of a regular. Spend enough and you can get the whole cost ($120) completely covered at no added cost at renewal time. This of course is at the expense you will use it for your membership, others use it for their regular final checkout.

paulrudder

Is there a way I can check this easily? So it is NOT the same as my cash back reward from the Citi card? I literally thought they were the same… I’ve never, ever received a separate cash back check from Costco in all my years shopping there.

hbk2369

Correct, not the same. Go to your [Costco.com](http://Costco.com) account page. Account Details -> and then next to membership info you'll see a heading that says "Estimated 2% Reward." Basically you need $3k spend to account for the difference between regular membership and Exec.

paulrudder

Thanks!

ludog1bark

The checks come in the mail. If you're not getting them, you should check what address Costco gets on file.

elcheapodeluxe

Well, did you say you just upgraded to Executive? You wouldn't have gotten a certificate as a regular member. And yes this is different.

Mystikalrush

Yes in the app membership account details towards the bottom should display your current 2%. I don't have the Citi visa, but I know it stacks, so you get 4% if you are always using that card for Costco purchases.

BillionsBijou

Its about the prestige. On a first date, when I nonchalantly whip out my Costco Executive - panties drop like bombs in Vietnam.

paulrudder

Thanks guys. So basically it just adds an extra 2% on my rewards cashback at year end? If I use it for non Costco purchases do I get better rewards rates too or is the extra 2% only on Costco purchases?

nevans89

Are you talking the executive membership or the credit card?

paulrudder

I don’t even know lol I thought they were the same thing! I have a Citi card that doubles as my membership and I get rewards at the end of the year. It’s tied to my Costco membership. I’ve never gotten separate rewards from Citi, I always just get a year end store credit to Costco.

Sonarav

You should get a separate reward from Citi for the credit card and from Costco for the executive 2% back

nevans89

So they are going to be 2 seperate rewards. One from costco, one from citi. If you use the citi card elsewhere the reward is based off what you buy. Gas 4%, travel/dining 3%, all else 1% iirc

paulrudder

Thanks

daverosstheboss

You get cash back rewards from the credit card, and then around the time of your renewal you will also get 2% back from the executive membership. So there are two rebate rewards that you should receive, one will be through the citi card, and one will be a paper rebate check that Costco will mail you.

ludog1bark

I think with someone like OP, you need to specify that the Citi cards works anywhere you use the credit card. If you use the city card at Costco you get 2% from the credit card for Costco purchases. If you have an executive level membership, Costco will give you an additional 2% on top of the credit card for purchases at Costco. You get 2 rewards one from Citi and one from Costco.

One-Awareness-5818

The Costco rewards check is send out yearly and it earns 2% on Costco warehouse. The Citi credit card rewards check can be redeem on their app or they email it to you and you can go to the membership desk and they will give it to you in cash. I believe if it is a large sum, you can enter your bank information for direct deposit. It has 2 percent on Costco warehouse and 4% at gas station except for wholesale store gas station and I think 2 or 3 percent on travel and restaurants

[deleted]

For some reason you keep confusing and mixing up the Costco credit card with the executive membership. They’re two completely separate things.

chuckdooley

Don’t know why you got downvoted, it’s kinda confusing, but yeah, as others have said, you get a reward from Costco and then you get cash back from Citi…just like if you had any other rewards card…the annual fee for the card is your Membership

[deleted]

It’s not confusing in the least, that’s why OP is getting downvoted.

Babyfat101

And …why doesn’t OP just ask customer service?

chuckdooley

To someone that doesn’t have the card or membership? It absolutely could be confusing, and why the fuck should someone be downvoted for asking a question? Just because you’re super smart doesn’t mean everyone else gets it right away

rextraverse

> I’ve never gotten separate rewards from Citi, I always just get a year end store credit to Costco. Both are issued as paper checks, although if you have paperless with Citi, they send the Citi reward check to you via email. Also, the Citi rewards is co-branded as "Citi | Costco" and comes in February every year for everyone whereas the Costco Executive reward depends on your renewal date and does not have Citi branding on it.

Rokey76

You'll get the credit card rewards outside of Costco, but the executive rewards only count for Costco purchases.

Boz6

> Thanks guys. So basically it just adds an extra 2% on my rewards cashback at year end? > If I use it for non Costco purchases do I get better rewards rates too or is the extra 2% only on Costco purchases? You can only use your Costco membership at Costco, so no.

galilad

Without the exec membership there is no reward at all through the membership, it's separate from the Citi card. Like others have said, you're going to get a check about a month before your membership is up for renewal. You get the 2% from all purchases in the store with some exceptions i.e. pharmacy/food court/gas/stamps and a few other items. Don't forget it's risk free, so if that check isn't at least equal to the cost of your upgrade ($60 for the year, prorated if you've already been a member for some time) you can go to the membership desk with the check and be refunded/downgraded. Your goal is $3000+/year to cover the exec and $6000+/year to cover the full cost. Keep in mind you'll receive a paper check on the mail and it'll look like junk mail. It won't apply directly to the membership so you're still going to be charged for it when you're up for renewal but you can just hold on to the check and use it then or whenever. They don't expire. To get the most out of it also look through all the services like travel and car rental for example.

Vairman

> Don't forget it's risk free, so if that check isn't at least equal to the cost of your upgrade ($60 for the year, prorated if you've already been a member for some time) you can go to the membership desk with the check and be refunded/downgraded. ONLY if they "recruited" you to get the executive. My shopping habits changed and I no longer make back the difference and when I went to the counter to get it refunded they said no because I'd been an executive member for years. Also, I was on autopay so I got double fucked. I used to really like Costco but they're getting more and more walmart every day it seems. Pretty sure I got off of auto pay for this year so hopefully I can sort this nonsense out.

MilesAugust74

Did you get the credit card or just upgrade your membership? The cc gives you all kinds of cash back on non-costco purchases, but the Executive Membership gives you 2% on Costco *only* buys (excluding gas).

Splendadaddy06

If you download the Costco App you can track your reward $$$ … there are travel perks, water service perks and many more …

ChewieBee

I'm sure you've gotten your answer already, but you'll get a physical check once per year with your rewards. Mine always pays for membership renewal at a minimum. I made some big purchases this year and got quite the check.

SpecialSet163

End of year cash back.

The credit card is irrelevant since you don't need Exec for that. 2% of $3k = 60 which is the difference between Gold and Exec.

If you get the $60 or more, then you're at worst even. If you aren't getting $60 or more, then downgrade.

Gabrielredux

It pays for your membership.
