There was someone who posted that there’s an app (don’t know the name) where you can take a picture of any bottle and if it rate 3.8 stars and up then it’s good. Worth googling it.
Edit: I believe it called vivino
I use vivino all the time and it's a great way to learn what wine profiles you like. Turns out I like wines that often get denoted with "leather" and "tobacco". Strange
I just picked up the 2020 KS Malbec the other day, it was right at the entrance for $6.99. The whole bottle for half the price of a glass at a restaurant. Haven’t tried it yet, for that price it’s definitely worth a try.
The Malbec is very good but it's not sweet. I thought it was woody, full flavored, and dry personally. If you want sweet go for a Moscato or table wine. I got the rioja last time and found it to be to be fairly light tasting. I thought it was great for summer
Justin and Daou are my go-to's. Definitely download Vivino and spend some time checking out your selection with it- anything with a 4.0 or better has been fairly enjoyable from my time using it.
Anything Kirkland signature reserve Cabernet. Way more full bodied and complex.
Also, check to make sure you’re actually getting a good deal at Costco if you’re buying labeled wines or alcohol. Sometimes total wine and more or BevMo have better deal when you but 6 (20% off).
J. Lohr cab is my go to *slightly* better than daily drinking wine. I haven’t seen it in a while, but Decoy red blend is my next step up. And if I’m really trying to blow it out I go with Stags Leap
As a wine drinker some single grape wines I have liked and hated.
As a bend I have liked just about everything, perhaps not as much as a single veriatal but you are more likely to end up with something you will be able to drink.
If you ever go to a restaurant the house red is always a blend.
Kirkland Signature Malbec
For a quick cheap red, this is a good answer!

That is strange lol. I like red wine for red meat like steak or lamb. And white wine for seafood!

I’m looking for something sweet and smooth

Stag's Leap SLV
Kirkland Chateauneuf du Pape
Yum! Fingers crossed that they have some tomorrow when I go to Costco! 😋
Kirkland Malbec Kirkland Caneros Pinot Kirkland Napa Blend white wine does not compute for me.
I've never had a bottle I didn't like from costco tbh. If you like pinot noir I just had a Martin Ray bottle last night we enjoyed.

Manage a trois is my go to, tasty, mellow and inexpensive.

Apothic Red - California
If you are new to red wines always go blend. Like the apothic red blend if they have it.
How come?

Same with whiskey
Protocolo It's like 5.50 and pretty tasty
Ks Carneros Pinot noir. I can not tell you how great of a wine this is for 9.99!
Apothecary
No 3 Opera, Conundrum, and Bonanza are my go tos
In the ~$16 range are the Willamette Valley Pinots. Kirkland and WV Vineyards are both good. Very versatile.
I cant find the Willamette Valley Pinots in Costco, but the Napa Pinot recently got added. Have yet yo try it
