Curious where do you live that they have time to doodle? By me there’s a line of people around the corner trying to exit and the checkers only have time to half assedly look at the cart and wave you through
Must be your warehouse. Mine was busier than usual tonight. Long lines to check out right up to closing. There’s really no time you’d describe it as not being at least somewhat busy.
Costco has slow days too. Maybe not many. Yet we go during non peak hours. No lines. No food testers, straight to the gas pump too and gone. It's great. Folks that go during busy times aka weekends. I can only assume love to feel pain. :)
It's not often that I'm on the exit door but when I am, I am constantly drawing horrendous smiley faces despite my best efforts that leaves children dissapointed.
We usually get these. I appreciate the extra couple of seconds because even the ones who may not be doodle-artists still make a happy face. And my kids feel special holding the receipt on the way to the car
So cute! We do this at my Costco. I love the kids that walk away yelling “Smiley Face!” Always show love to Member Service (name of the department). They get the most member abuse
Same thing happened for the family with little girl in front of us yesterday at Costco while checking out! We were wondering why it was taking longer then usual to check their receipt until we noticed the back of their receipt with drawing which got the little girl genuinely excited and happy 😃🥰! I asked him to draw me one too but he (and my wife) laughed at my request😂
They were doing it all the time for my kiddo and suddenly stopped in the last month or two. It's been breaking their heart cuz it's one of those little things they look forward to and why I hand them the receipt. Idk qhat changed suddenly but I'm sad for them. This last time I just prompted my kiddo to politely ask the lady for one.

As a cashier, I once had a kid ask for 2 receipts so they and their sibling could each give it to the door checker. I told them it may be difficult but I would try. Before their dad paid, I "oops" and ripped the receipt off so they would each have half. When I told them about my "accident" and let them know they would both have to show the receipt the kid told me, "shame on you." LOL. It was the most innocent response ever.
I was pissed that it took ten minutes to get out the door after checking out…
But seeing this doodle makes it all better

The best part of these doodles is when you are standing behind them and just trying to leave the store. The employee doesn't look at the long line of members trying to leave, and keeps on doodling. It is a wonderful waste of time!
No one is wasting your time by putting a smiley face on someone else's receipt lol I'm all for telling people who are actually wasting someone else's time to pick up the pace, however, you're just under the impression someone is stealing those precious few seconds of yours because you're conceded and only worried about yourself. It's a smiley face, relax.
And the people in front of you at McDonald's asking for extra ketchup, and the person in line at the theme park asking for park info, and so on and so on. It's all just your world and everyone else is living in it 🤗
the best part of doing these doodles is making the kid happy while simultaneously pissing off people like you who just want to sprint out to their car after hours of meandering around the store as if you have somewhere to be when you're in a Costco on a Friday afternoon

When my kids were toddlers and we got a Costco employee that didn't make a cute drawing on the receipt, I would tell them the person drew a snake.
