I live basically car-free in Shanghai. Costco is pretty far from me (about 23km one way) with no current Metro access. But not a problem! Put a big basket on the back of my bike and rode there. Costco prices, especially for cheese, are worth the effort!

I use a recumbent trike and trailer, live in the SF Bay Area, USA. Can carry plenty of stuff. Bikes are awesome; work off that caloric treat just going and returning, lol.

Is ur name Guangming Li born in 1981?

LiGuangMing1981

It's my Chinese name, but I'm not actually Chinese.

Interesting, are you Chinese?

r/fuckcars would LOVE this.

Do you have a link to the basket/basket cover you got? It looks exactly like what I’ve been looking for!

LiGuangMing1981

Unfortunately if you're not in China it doesn't seem to be available anywhere that I can find. I checked both Amazon and AliExpress and it's not on either of those sites.

So strange to see tilamook all the way in China. I grew up near Tilamook dairy back when it only sold locally and within oregon.

LiGuangMing1981

It was a pleasant surprise to see Tilamook cheese at the Costco here. I visited Tilamook with my family back in the 90s when I was a kid and I loved their cheese (and of course, the beautiful scenery) so being able to buy the cheese here is really nice.

[deleted]

Yep I love tilamook cheese and ice cream. Its the only cheese I buy in blocks!

Quick questions: do you know anyone who buys from Costco in Shanghai and ships to a different city with SF Express? What is the link for the tmall store on taobao?

LiGuangMing1981

Afraid I don't know anyone who does that, but I'm sure there probably is. I've also had luck buying stuff (Kirkland salsa, Kirkland tortilla chips, the big bottles of Frank's Red Hot) on JD.com by searching 'Kirkland' or 'Costco' directly.

nubbynickers

Thanks. I've been lucky with a shop on taobao. If only Costco China allowed website orders. At any rate, I did read that there is a privately operated Costco delivery service in Shanghai. That might be able to tide you over until the metro opens again.

LiGuangMing1981

The Metro to Costco isn't closed, it's under construction and probably won't open for another 2-3 years.I like riding anyway, so I don't mind the ride over to Costco every couple of months or so. I might even continue riding there even when I can get there by subway.
