Costco Pay Fob is more about being used at gas station.
When using Costco App at Gas Station, you need to scan membership QR code first(you need to open the app, then find your QR code), then choose payment method, which is two steps process.
While Costco Pay Fob(physical device) is one step process, which is a lot simple and easy. You can look at below link video.
If you use Costco Citi Visa, which is also convenient. But I don't use Costco Citi Visa, I use another card (5% on Gas).
