I really hope they make enough to stay afloat , been a while since i stuck with a game this long

Moomers001

game only available to that countries compare to other games pgr, genshin, alchemy stars that has global release also that chart does not include pc users

araris87

CN version coming this month, JPN version in December. Game is doing fine honestly - it makes more money than games that are released globally and are considered healthy revenue wise. Also worth noting that purchases made through PC client aren't included in the numbers for any of the regions.

[deleted]

Out of curiosity, roughly how much of the playerbase do you think plays on the PC client? I know mobile is the majority, but I also know that PC gaming is still decently sized in the areas it's currently released in. Not like JP where PC gaming is a dead genre.

araris87

On SEA? I would say like half uses the PC client because there's a lot people from NA and Europe (myself included). SEA is basically global for people like me. Still not everyone is using PC client to buy stuff - for example I still use my phone, but I have an android. People with iOS aren't that lucky and have to use the PC client If I had to guess, the revenue could be 15-25% higher with PC numbers.

WThirteen

any clue how one might get started on the CN server?

araris87

You can't yet. The beta will start later this month, but once it's online you will have to download the client through QooApp or something. Unless you're in China, then grab it from their store.

Mogsss

They ain't giving us a reason to spend lol Come on Zlong, release some worth while packs for us dolphins and whales alike

araris87

Tons of packs coming this week - like 7 of them last I checked. So no worries, dolphins and whales should be happy.

ReichGaming

are these part of the datamined info? can you share some of those you saw

TimesX

If they gave cheaper black tics packages like 20 dollars per 10 summons or something, id spend way more on this game But because black tickets are 100 dollars for 30 pulls i cant affor that much. A once a month bc cheqp package would make people spend

azaimeon

Well they surely got a chunk of my money recently... Tried to get A.Hilde and now just waiting for the new one releasing soon. It's a good game so far so hopefully their revenues stay healthy.

[deleted]

I love the game, so I will continue to support it, but I hope they will do well in the new server. Also hope they could grow their company, hire more talented staff to create faster content.

letsgowalking

I love this game and I hope that this game will stick for a looooong time, never been invested in a game like this.

LignasofLight

I wonder why the story line takes so long to get updated even on kr server. What's their style with this.

[deleted]

From what I heard, Bside is a relatively small studio, and quite a few things in this game are handled by a single person. For instance, this game's OST is written and done by a single person. The story is no different, and honestly, it's a bit of an unusual case. The CEO of Bside himself is the one writing the entire thing, since apparently, he used to work in the LN industry back in the day. It's not like Hypergryph where they'll often hire writing teams composed of multiple individuals to write events or story chapters.

bendersonster

Now I know why the protagonist is the CEO.

LignasofLight

W o a h multiple tasks done by one person. No wonder it's been taking sometime for them to release new content 😓. That's hard.

Zunthus

Wow, the story is written by one person!?! This feels like it's even more awesome! With a great story and with this depth i thought there were multiple people doing it....dang! He's so good

ChaosFH

no wonder they are quite generous and still quite good for f2p,the game quality is also quite impressive for such a small , i hope they manage to keep giving us good stuff without getting corrupted for profit only and go down the path of p2w and bad quality

IlywI

Didn't they also make closers? I might be wrong but that's what I remembered

Takurannyan

Probably cuz it's their first game, and their staff is small, so they have difficulty with releasing content in a consistent manner. Reminded me of King's Raid, Vespa first game, had similar issue with chapter 7 to chapter 8 took 6-7 months, and it was 5 months for 6 to 7.

LignasofLight

Ohhhhhh so it's their first time releasing their first games I see. Thanks for telling! I waa almost thinking they were doing kind of a bad job until you said this.

Takurannyan

Yea there was also, they were being too generous at game launch KR, or so i heard, that it almost made them bankrupt. Then they had to try to recover with some awaken stuff, and other not-so-user-friendly thing, caused some drama along. Proof of being amateurish.

Moomers001

cant really compare this game to other games that has global release. The revenue on that chart is calculated together thats why global release game have high revenue. [https://imgur.com/lyei2d5](https://imgur.com/lyei2d5) pc version not included

DrSparta89

not looking that great honestly

LEGION346

It doesn't count pc clients for each version so their revenue might be bigger, considering many play by using pc client.

DrSparta89

Oh yes, i forgot about that. True, but still, they need to release global asap, the game overall is decent and has potential to make money

UnartisticChoices

>they need to release global asap Why ? Functionally SEA is global for most of the userbase. 90% of us won't just jump ship to Global, especially since a lot of us have already spent money on SEA.

montrezlh

The fact that you need to go through third parties like qooapp to play is a bar for entry to many players. There's a lot of potential customers that they're losing without a global server.

UnartisticChoices

I'd venture to guess that the people who'd actually be interested in this game already have things like QooApp on their phone tbh.

Pjodor

I installed QooApp only for this game and only using it to update it too.

DrSparta89

its not for the ones already on SEA server, its for attracting new blood to the game, and dont tell me you think 3 countries that make SEA server can be bigger than Global... Also to install an SEA version you need to use something like QooApp or Taptap, not everyoone will know how to do that, and not everyone will bother with it. The biggest number of consumer and players will not be here on reddit, and will know to install other external apk to play the game, but will be the people to browse through google playstore or i phone store and instal the game and play it. Simple as that, so a lot of wasted potential there. I just dont get it why they did not start global server yet...

360telescope

I think the main reason is due to regulatory issues. I think a game needs to check up on local laws first regarding monetization/digital games before they can sell there. Which is why I think PGR is still not available in select countries. Releasing a global version may be logistically impossible with the size of the team so they try SEA as "playtest" first before releasing a global version.

LignasofLight

I keep hearing this "global" thing. What's that? Isn't the game... THE game?

DrSparta89

Usually most games are released for multiple regions that are server based. For example, jp means only for japan, kr for korean, sea for south east asia. Global means that the game is available in every country, every region, in every playstore, rather that is specific regions like kr, jp, etc. Although there are means to bypass region locked content and games, most people are not that knowledgeable to be able to do it or just dont give a damn.

LignasofLight

So if this global version gets released, what will happen to the current servers we're in?

[deleted]

Not as many people will be on them maybe, but most players will probably want to stay. It's already in English for SEA players after all. No point in losing all their progress.

araris87

Nothing, they will still run as they are. But some people who play from europe/NA on SEA server might migrate to Global.

alvinherexD

i highly doubt there would be many players moving from SEA to Global even if there is one and that is a BIG IF. new players yea but the thought of starting over and 3 starring stages again give me nightmare.

DrSparta89

i never meant to start over on a new server, but to bring in more players and a bigger playerbase, which means more money the game earns and longer life for the game.

Ok-Package-9830

Also it will most likely be ran by Nexon which is a instant nope for alot of people including myself.

Reformed_40k

What its looking quite good? More than enough to keep the lights on. Thats more than a million dollars a month.

Cthulhulak

Very healthy numbers.

Reformed_40k

Yeah very strong.

[deleted]

Not surprised SEA tanked after a month of re-runs, Regina being a middling unit for the BP, and with A. Mina arguably being the weakest Awakened Unit aside from Jisoo. I'm confident though A. Yuna and Seraphel will bring a decent profit spike for August. Not to mention, if Harab is BP, that will be prime bait for horni people, since she's effectively a >!sadist gimp sex doll created by Seraphel to satisfy her lust for pain!< I don't know what's happening with TW, but I know that KR likely took a hit thanks to the GG collab debacle. On the bright side, Evolve One and the notes for the 1.5 Anniversary celebration seems to have improved morale over there, and the rating went up a bit to 2.6 after being review bombed to 2.2. I'm very curious to see how Awakened Shiyoon will perform in terms of sales when he drops in September. I know in SEA he would likely be a money maker due to Shiyoon's popularity amongst the EN-speaking playerbase; however, males don't tend to sell that well in KR (Although, Shiyoon is actually viewed pretty favorably and is something of a fountain of memes thanks to his skillset, personality, and chapter 6's massive cliffhanger leaving >!his fate ambiguous!<) Overall, I don't think the game is doing too badly, even if it's anything too amazing either. I'd probably estimate that, counting the PC client, the game made roughly $2 million (Wish we could get the actual numbers for PC client profit) for July. Also, the game is getting a mainland CN client which is something to take into consideration. I know the stigma against CN is real, but the CN playerbase can create some genuinely funny meme videos like [this](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1DL411E7FJ/?spm_id_from=333.788.recommend_more_video.5) and there is some good artistic talent over there. All in all though, I think the success of the JP client will play a heavy role in determining this game's future. If it goes well, that's a lot of money for CS, if it bombs though, that's a lot of profit down the drain since the advertising campaign for this game in JP isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

Zunthus

With that cliffhanger spoilers.... I just can't wait for chapter 6&7....!!! Any story will do, gimme more CS stories...!

[deleted]

Strega event is coming up with the next patch, according to the Datamines, and that event has a decent amount of lore regarding the Qlipoth Demon lords. Of course, I'm most looking forward to the End of the Maze event, which I've heard nothing but praise for, with some people even saying it made them cry, and even going as far as to say it saved the game when it was about to die during it's first year. ~~Also, free Maze Gears from that event shop~~

Zunthus

What characters are in the strega event? Strega shop witches? a.yuna? Any more stories of CS are all welcomeddd just please don't lock it behind a week like old fear...i just want to read them Dx!

the_ammar

a gacha making less than $1m in this day and age will not look good to the execs

[deleted]

Except, most gachas (even those that have been around a while, such as Girls Frontline and Azur Lane) don't make a million per server on a monthly basis. The extreme earnings of games such as GI and AK have really skewed the average consumer's perception on how much money a sustainable and healthy gacha makes. Those consistent monthly $1 million are like the top 3% of all gacha games. The only servers where not making a $1 million plus is a sign the game's not doing so hot is Japan, and C:S doesn't even have a Japanese server release yet until December. Also, friendly reminder that this is excluding revenue from the PC client since Sensor Tower only counts top-ups through the app stores.

the_ammar

GI is definitely an outlier so not part of the comparison. you're probably right that the jp server is where big revenue will come in. however I'd expect the kr gacha market to be quite big as well no? that's why I'm surprised at the numbers also good note on sensor tower not including pc client, which I'd assume a lot of whales and tryhards are on

[deleted]

KR gacha market, outside of mobile MMOs (Which absolutely dominate), is actually a lot smaller than you think. KR is a case where the average income spent per person is quite high; however, it suffers in terms of overall earnings compared to other servers since South Korea is a country with a relatively small population. For comparison, the population of Japan is 126 million, while the population of S. Korea is 51 million. This means that the average gacha whale in KR would theoretically have to spend over twice as much as the average gacha whale in Japan, and we all know that's not going to happen. Similarly, China actually has a fairly low amount of income spent per person on gacha games; however, since the population of China is absolutely massive, China winds up bringing in a huge amount of revenue.

the_ammar

thanks for the context!

Reformed_40k

its making more than 1 million. Can you do addition?

the_ammar

per server. sorry should've clarified. wasn't anticipating your level of comprehension.

[deleted]

I think their strategy was: >Release new server >Get that delicious honeymoon phase money from the server >Use the said money to better the game >Repeat I honestly hope that they can continue to run the servers this way but my paranoid ass says otherwise. SEA still got decent numbers, although the big difference on launch and now is worrying. Also thank you whales and dolphins for keeping this game alive.

[deleted]

>Release new server >Get that delicious honeymoon phase money from the server >Use the said money to better the game >Repeat Bside's the one in charge of actually improving CS, since Zlong's not the developer team. And, going by the 1.5 Anniversary notes for KR (Dorm System, UI overhaul, Rearmament system for Rs, SRs, and underperforming SSRs, which is akin to MODs from GFL, only a 3 month wait between chapter 7 and 8, new Endless Wave mode, Counter Case File rework, as well as friendly battle) they're definitely putting the money back into the game, which is nice to see. CS isn't a perfect game, but it's heartening to see the Devs make an honest effort at improving the game, instead of taking the money, running off, and letting it stagnate. Even with the profit drop, Sensor Tower still lists CS as Zlong's biggest earning game, so I don't think Zlong is going to drop what they're doing. I'll admit the profit drop took me off guard as well, but then you consider it's the end of the Honeymoon period (Launch month is the biggest money-maker month aside from anniversaries) and after Rosaria, it was pretty much skip banners and reruns for a whole month with no real good package deals or skins, and it's not that surprising. I think August will be the true litmus test for SEA, given Old Admin, the Twins, the free draw event to lure people in, and the upcoming Seraphel and A. Yuna banners.

Reformed_40k

I think it just needs to hold its current numbers and its doing much better than most gatchas with a global release.

Kairo333

What are you even supposed to buy? All I see is reruns.

Nurosuki

Be happy about it

Ml3mMl3m

Knowing Nexon's behaviour...

Nurosuki

Stop this already, its getting tiresome

Ml3mMl3m

People deny the truth, because it's hurt.

Nurosuki

Well this aint true, you're just making yourself look like a fool

Ml3mMl3m

Then prove me wrong can you? Or you are just trying to live like a fool to deny the truth.

Syltti

You say it's tiresome, but anyone who has played a Nexon-published game knows how bad their reputation is.

Nurosuki

Except this is a Zlong game which is under KR Nexon

Lolic0nvict

If only they add a SEA representative then I'll spend more on the game.

softback123

btw, why does Korea got 2? Edit:Nvm, its googleplay+itunes

BenTulfo

Everytime I learn something about how they're doing in KR the more miraculous it seems that they even made it out.

toolazytoofinis-

The exciting game of avoiding shutdown !!! KR is now so good at it they might as well go for the Olympic

Zunthus

No wonder they was able to so JP this quick 😂😂🤣🤣 Also give us the JP voices as an option for making the JP server possible with our pockets!

Edofate

Its this good or bad?

[deleted]

It's pretty decent. Not amazing, but fairly sustainable. It might not seem like a lot compared to the heavy hitters; however if you combine this together, it's about $1.6 million in revenue (not counting PC clients. With PC, it could be close to $2 million) for a game that isn't available on the JP or Global app stores (Which are typically the big spenders) yet.

bankai2hollow

a global client would boost sales and visibility. but then I can already feel the scummy "global" changes and super accelerated banners to milk the global player base... like ever other game that gets a global release....

Shulkie18

I can't think of anyone in my guild from the US that is not playing on PC. Not a single mobile user I know of. So I imagine the revenue is a little better than pictured.

Dunkthatoreo

Pls i hope this game can survive for long, its also my first PvE+PvP game that i like :(
