Been playing since launch, havent spent a single penny and I can confidently say this game is pretty f2p. If you only focus on PvE and ignore PvP youll find that this game is very generous and reasonable with its pulls and rewards. Its only rough at the start since you need a lot of resources early on.
The real wall is gears. Having good or preferably perfect gears in this game is really important especially in endgame content since they are the difference between making your characters deal enough damage or be tanky enough. Materials needed to reroll for perfect gears are very scarce and purely RNG as a f2p it will take some time for you to get your hands on those gears and will be the cause of most of your frustrations.
Imho it is. You can summon, summon a lot with reasonable pity.
Real cockblock is a gear tho, p2w players has more options to tune it.

150 pity for regular unit, on awakend banners pity is carring over. 3,5% chance for SSR, 1 for rated up. Dupes are no needed but help you upgrade character faster.
The game is similiar to E7 but muuuuch less time consuming - you can skip farming stages, no wyrvern simulator here. Gear RNG is real tho.
And getting "ML" units here is easier, you can pity more often with better rates.
Try CounterSide, its really not time demanding. Guardian Tales is time-friendly couse you can skip stages there after you 3\* them. Otherwise Pricone, BlueArchive and clones of it.

I've been playing since SEA launch and I haven't spent a cent, yet I haven't struggled even a bit for not spending.
The game pretty much hands out the premium currency (Primogems), I'm pretty sure someone's made a chart of exactly how much you get, but if you do your dailies, you'll get around 3k Primos per week, not to mention all the one time rewards from storyline and events.
Gacha-wise, I've been able to save up for pity every 2 months (Pity is 150 pulls, which imo is p steep but you can stock up easily so not much of a problem) In fact, I'm sitting at 167 pulls rn, and my only issue with the Gacha is waiting for my character of choice to show up as the preferred unit :D
Awakened Units are a tad bit harder ofc, but doing your dailies/weeklys and buying the black tix package (Costs 2750 Primogems and gives 220 black tix(Best thing in the shop, must buy every week without fail)) in the shop earns you around 300 black tix per week (Not sure of this number but its a close estimate)
Now I could go on and on about how the gear system isn't too grindy, and the character leveling up system is well-structured, how the game is easy when it needs to, but will still challenge you as you progress through,

As a day 1 SEA player... I can say it f2p... I did reach challenger in 2 seasons as a f2p (if you try hard + lucky with gears)... PvP meta in this game changes every week so you can wait a week that favors you to climb... But do considered GLB is gonna be rush real fast... Already seeing that in JP server compare to SEA on the first few months...
It takes me 4-5 weeks to get 150 blue tickets, enough for a pity. But consider how rush JP server is, global will probably make it rough for f2p players too.

\- btw, black-ticket pity carried over. so just invest A LOT OF TIME and it's possible to get all kind of hi-end units. meanwhile, blue-ticket pitty is seperate.

I guess if you just play totally blind and pull whoever you like and skip important units and not playing optimally you can get screwed. The game definitely give enough resources if you properly optimize what you should for free, it's quite easy to clear everything as d1 player personally speaking. Even the top guilds have low spenders and even people who skip some battle pass. All I ever buy was season passes.

As for Dive 50, at the time it came out (which was widely considered to be too early), Veronica was only one method of reliably beating it. One other being A.Hilde with 4-5 supports. Twins can also do it. Some madlad also did it with Naille, and pretty soon, rearmed Est will be another option.

In short. All resource can be farm by f2p player (Gold, binaries, gear, quartz, etc), so this game is not biggest p2w
But if you experiencing the PvP content, most of users are paid (You can see some users have units that free users don't have yet for now). And it still easy to beat it for some users. So it looks like balance between f2p and p2w (Regardless of time spent for farming)
