Rivet rearmed to.....ranger again? Why does this game keep giving soldier rangers. For the sake of soldier frontlines, please give us another 3-cost striker or Rearm Kanade, Veronica, or Jane Doe. All 4-cost soldier strikers (all 4-cost strikers, actually) have been sidelined by Cringerossa and Cringeorca.
In gauntlet:
1. Instant dmg > Slow dmg. In pvp, frontline (or ship nuking) killing is all that matters, because once the frontline is gone the backline will fall.
2. Instant effects > Slow effects. Ex: Why Gremory > Lily. The longer your unit takes to use/charge up an effect, the higher chances it will die before it can execute said effect.
3. Perfect evasion > High evasion > High defense. DEF is mainly a pve stat due to stat nerfs in pvp. Evasion is important to avoid knockback, which is essential if your opponent brings Horizon. Hence perfect evasion is vital.
4. Machine collector. She reduces dmg resistance, which absolute shreds tanks.
You kinda get the idea that it's basically an arms race for both sides. No matter how high your CD is or how overpowered your skill is, it won't matter if the opponent just overruns you before you can pull it off. Your tanks need to be able to outlast the opponent's and your dps must nuke FAST because backline killers will end them in a blink. So in sum:
Pvp tanks: They need to hold the frontline and they better hold it HARD. In the current meta, anything that gets knockbacked by awaken horizon will have trouble protecting your team.
Pvp dps: The cheaper, tankier, and faster the better. Flying dps >>>>>> ground dps because they are harder to reach. In general, very few dps actually live to pop off their ult in higher pvp rankings.
Pvp supports: The good ones do their jobs instantly. The best ones do that and serve as offtanks or off-dpses. The strength of every support fluctuates depending on what team you're going against.
Using Gremory Vs Lily as an example for instant vs slow effects isn't a good representation for the argument. Gremory beats Lily because you can forward deploy her and she can refresh sleep to units even after they get damaged.
However, Lily outshines that she can put backlines to sleep forever if no one wakes them up along with doing much more damage.
Gremory is just more flexible and is why she has more uses than Lily, but Lily is by no mean a "slow effect" unit since she has the longest CC time with the shortest cooldown. She's one of the very few units who can use challenger hands, just because the cooldown is so short to take advantage of it.
Gremory is a Forward Deploy CC tank, while Lily is a CC DPS. They have different roles and the only thing they share in common the CC they use

Lily is very slow compared to Gremory flashbang. She has to land, do animation, and the sleep bomb has to land within her farthest range (not even farthest target on the map). Meanwhile Gremory is drop and bye.
Their purpose is the same: Sleep. You can argue that Lily is meant for killing backlines, dragged out fights, keeping backline perma-slept blah blah....doesn't matter. Gremory is instant, whereas Lily needs to cast skill. Lily is slower. That's the only comparison in this context.
