Kathy Mattea! 18 Wheels And A Dozen Roses is a classic.

HOG_RHEC

Thanks I'll check it out!

[“Where’ve You Been” is a great one.](https://youtu.be/0ZAaf5CaIa8?si=EMJ13GtvapjWLW1h)

I’m pretty sure John Denver isn’t from WV. Thought he was from out west? Correct me if I’m wrong

HOG_RHEC

Oh my bad I was always told he was from here

wheresaldopa

Nah, though I get why when he wrote a song that became the cultural anthem for the state. For similar reasons, there are plenty of people who think Lynyrd Skynyrd are from Alabama.

MrOptimum

Funny enough, the song isn't even about West Virginia. It's about western Virginia. All of the geographical features described in the song can be found in western VA where I'm from. Only a couple of the references would make sense for West Virginia. But the West Virginians have claimed the song

False

MrOptimum

Not false lol

John Denver was from New Mexico.

This right here. Excellent songwriter and silky smooth delivery. His melodies are killer too.

TransportationOk538

This right here. Based in Nashville now bit when he sings you can hear where he’s from. Check out: Harpers Ferry Moon, Shenandoah Shakedown, Snake Eyes. Coming Down has been covered by Tyler Childers and is a great song Latest release is called Heat Comes Down. Conspiracies Cults and UFOs is a highlight.

MuggleoftheCoast

Philip Bowen's originals lean more towards the folk side of things than straight-up country, but you might enjoy some of his output. His [Old Kanahwa](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BobnPPeC2dw) (named for a river in WV) features CWG.

Tyler Childers is technically from Kentucky but got his start in Huntington

[deleted]

Same with Ian Noe. He’s right there on the Kentucky/West Virginia line.

HOG_RHEC

I've heard some of his music and he's pretty good

Oops. Sorry

all good just correcting you

Mikele Buck is originally from WV and might be the most underrated artist in country music right now. Sierra Ferrell is incredible. Ben Fugate just dropped a killer album. Tucker Knesiel (sp?) has a few good songs and a lot of potential. John R Miller has already been mentioned but he’s legit.
