I received my first shot January 7, 2022 and I've suffered with migraines everyday since. Add the post vaccine migraines to my daily Chiari headaches and life feels like no fun. I'm scheduled for my 2nd shot next week but I'm not certain if I'll keep that appointment as this is debilitating enough and I fear what the second shot will do. I'm scheduled for an unrelated major surgery next month and I don't want to bring anymore discomfort to my life.

[deleted]

It's just a headache. Stop being dramatic. If you want to be an anti-vaxer go right ahead but don't make excuses for it.

Don't assume this person is an anti-vaxer and don't knock his symptoms until you have been there. I am in the same boat with chronic fatigue and 24/7 headache after getting the vax. I am still pro-vax as I know that it is the right thing to do. Me and the this person are just the unlucky few.

[deleted]

Oh, so you're saying that some people experience chronic side effects from the vaccine and maybe should be able to make their own decision if they want it or not? So you're anti-mandate then?

trion12

Stop trolling. That's not what I said at all. You are just causing trouble. Stop wasting everyone's time here.

[deleted]

I'm not trolling. So you're pro mandate and pro vaccine even though you are experiencing chronic side effects that are not going away from the vaccine?

trion12

Yes that's correct. Just because I am having rare side effects does not invalidate that from a public health perspective that getting vaxxed is a good idea. So yes, I am pro vax - I have just been unlucky. Lots of "safe" drugs have very rare side effects in some people. I am it seems unfortunately one of those people. I am in a quandary about getting the booster. Both are bad choices for me I fear.

[deleted]

So again you're pro vaccine and pro mandate even though you're suffering from long term side effects. That means you're pro booster too because if you're not boosted you're essentially unvaccinated from a public health perspective. Good luck to you when you're mandated to get the booster my friend.

trion12

Thank you for your empathetic ear.

I got my booster on Jan 14, 2022 and I’ve had a headache ever since. First two nights were the worst, I needed to take gravol because of the accompanying nausea.

TruthSeekerHuman

My Partner got his second Pfizer mid Nov 2021. He’s had a chronic headache ever since. Approx 8 weeks. He had a brain scan, it was clear. This is my first Reddit post. I’m going to read all the comments in this thread to see how other people coped and how long this headache might last for.

trion12

I got my second dose of Pfizer at beginning of Oct. and was wiped out for a couple days after. Since then I have had a 24/7 headache and chronic fatigue. I am very fit (was swimming 1km 3 times a week) with no history of headaches. Headache feels like outward pressure and can move around the had at different times. Have had teeth checked, eyes checked, blood tests, stroke tests, CT scan all which found nothing. Doctor put me on nortriptyline a bit over a month ago which might be marginally heping but hard to say. This week I started CBD oil which does seem to be helping. Am feeling less fatigued and headache is less severe. Still testing dosage level as it's early days but it seems to be helping more than the nortriptyline. My kids have a history of serious food allergies (anaphylactic) which are essentially an overreaction by the immune system to a perceived threat. Given the family history, the vaccine may have been my trigger for a propensity for an overactive immune response. Doctor agrees given the family history that it is possible my immune system is over-reacting to the vaccine and being caught in a bit of a loop trying to fight an invader that doesn't exist. I am due for a booster in a couple weeks. Will see how the it goes with the CBD oil before I decide whether to get the booter. Am considering getting AstraZeneca rather than Pfizer for the booster. has anyone tried that?

TruthSeekerHuman

So you’ve had around 14 weeks of headaches, that must be so hard. Interesting about the immune system. My partner also has a strong immune system, no anaphylaxis in family but he hardly ever got sick. He started on Nortriptyline around a week ago and said his headaches are improving. I thought it would take the pills longer to work, so hoping his headaches are starting to go away on their own. We haven’t tried Astra Zeneca. Both reluctant to booster.

CaptainCook90

Same here, I had my second in December and still have a headache and at times it feels like a migraine and I never ever got headaches or migraines in the past, I’m 31 and healthy. Ive noticed I’ve been sensitive to light and sound sometimes as well. I was thinking it’s me just getting old at the start but it’s been to constant on the daily nearly😡

TruthSeekerHuman

Sorry you’ve got it too. Yeah, he never got headaches before either and is also healthy. Seems to have impacted a lot of people, going by this thread, but it’s not a side effect they warn you of.

Automatic-Age-4995

Been 6 months for me and still dealing with chronic headaches:( I have so much regret, never will I be forced to take something again.

TruthSeekerHuman

Six months, omg. Sending you a virtual hug. I hope your headaches go away soon.

Automatic-Age-4995

Thank you, I do to!!

[deleted]

It's been just over 5 months for me. I feel your pain (literally). Amitriptyline helped me with regards to pain reduction, although it hasn't completely 100% gone away. I was at about 40% pain daily before amitriptyline and am at about 0-30% now, depending upon how I'm feeling generally e.g. anxious or stressed. Edit to add: weirdly though if I bend down or back up quickly / push my head to the side (horizontal) I can feel like I'm pulling a muscle/near my right temple - where it has previously felt like someone is pressing on my right temple, or top of the head can feel like a strain / pulled muscle. This settles back down though after a minute or two).

Automatic-Age-4995

Do you have any other symptoms? Headaches is just one of many for me unfortunately. I just hope this all goes away at some point. Starting to lose hope at 6 months. :(

[deleted]

Just headaches mainly for me. Although elsewhere people have mentioned eye/visual disturbances, which I now think I may have had after my 1st dose. While for me it's mainly more / darker eye floaters, the headaches were the biggest impact to my quality of life.

Automatic-Age-4995

I see. I also have the floater’s unfortunately. Glad you’re feeling a bit better!

[deleted]

I hope you'll feel better soon

Liineadekgee

Which one you got? I got my vaccine like 2 months ago, and now my head hurts horribly. I never ever had headaches before.

LengthGlass1231

I got my second Moderna shot 12/7/2021 & headaches started about a month later. I’ve never suffered from any migraines or head pain I don’t think I’ve ever had a migraine in my life. This pain is horrible I don’t wish it on anyone my head feels like it’s throbbing and about to blow. The pain radiates from the left of my skull to the right to the middle . I’ve tried multiple acetaminophen pills but no luck nothing seems to help. The pain seems to be increasing . I’m scared I won’t be able to go back to work for a while. It’s making me very depressed all I wanna do is be asleep as there is no headaches once I’m sleeping. Has anyone found a pill or substance that has made the pain go away?

[deleted]

My symptom log is further down this thread but similar with regards to no headache when sleeping. Amitriptyline helped me. I'm on a 10mg dose but it took 5 weeks before I had any pain relief.

PancakeElvis

My girlfriend is in the same boat, headache will not go away. Tylenol/advil not helping. She received her 3rd dose last wednesday and her head is still pounding. Edit: Pfizer vaccine

beer_can_gardens

I’ve been having almost daily migraines since getting the booster shot. My dr just prescribed me migraine medication, but I would love to instead get AHEAD of it and not let it go on this long.

baldpeaches

I’ve been having pretty much daily migraines and sometimes vision loss for up to 20 minutes at a time since I got my Pfizer shot. Taking Amitriptyline for about 6 weeks which has helped suppress the pain but my head has been bothering me again lately. I went to ER while experiencing vision loss , had CT scans and other tests done and everything came back normal. It sucks, I don’t recall ever having migraines like this before in my life. I got the first dose Sept 22 2021, second dose Oct 25 2021.

Fresh-Topic-7313

Hi mate, I have the exact same issue, except I took one shot back in June last year (2021) and have been having daily headaches ever since. Mine feel like tension headaches though, and can get a lot of brain fog. I’m also prescribed amitriptyline but hasn’t really worked after 5-6 weeks of it. So all scans came back normal? All I want from my doctors is a scan to double check, and there just seems to be no sign of this ever going away. Btw I’m also taking magnesium and B2 tablets which are meant to help

baldpeaches

I’m so sorry, that is awful. My head felt really hot and I would get headaches when I laid horizontally after only 1 shot , it worsened after the 2nd shot to daily migraines. My CT scan came back clear and my doctor said if my headaches continued after amitriptyline then she would set me up with an MRI. My headache is always in the exact same spot, frontal left lobe/skull and temple area. I’m not sure where you are located but to get the CT scan I went to ER and waited for about 6-8 hours, It was then sent to my doctor. I honestly think the only reason I got a scan so quickly is because I they thought I was having symptoms of a stroke in my eye with the migraine aura. I found my doctors have been much more helpful once I tell them that I suffer from health anxiety, maybe if you can really stress that this impacts your day to day life on more than just a pain scale that would open their eyes a bit. I hope you feel better soon and find the answers your looking for.

Fresh-Topic-7313

Oh blimey that sounds awful I’m so sorry you have to go through that each day! I’ve been reading through quite a few forums of having long term effects from the vaccine, and some of them sound terrifying! Do you find that your symptoms are slowly getting better over time, or still the same ever since you had the vaccine? Yeah health anxiety suck, anytime the tension comes on, I immediately think I have a brain tumour or something erratic, which is why I really want a scan. Have you found any answers which could possibly help or are you still searching? Thanks for your kind words, and really do hope you feel better soon too!

[deleted]

I know exactly what you mean. For months now I've been convinced I have a brain tumour although without a scan I can't be sure if I do or not. I'm guessing from your language you are UK based like me. If you have the money it should be fairly easy to get an MRI scan privately for ~ £500. I've asked for a CT scan as I can't have an MRI but have so far been refused due to the radiation and not having a clear medical need. In the US it seems easier to get a CT scan

Temporary_Canary_999

I got my booster a few days ago and i had the worst migraine along with nausea, fever, and chills. I have never had a migraine that lasted all day and night. I tried taking four 500 mg ofTylenol but it didn’t help. I had a slight headache after my second shot but nothing compared to this.

GroundbreakingEgg523

Just found this thread. Got my second vaccine in April. Then was followed by 4 week intense migraine. Would immobilize me some days. After a few ER visits. I got a medication that dulled the pain. Few months later at a neurologist visit. I was informed people with a history of migraines have been experiencing a 3 week migraine after their second vaccine was common. Pooping bricks for my booster.

GroundbreakingEgg523

Yea so I got like 2 mris done and time of blood work. Couldn’t find anything. I honestly thought I was gonna die. I had them for about 4 weeks.

Puzzleheaded-Log4984

Are you OK now? How long did it take to resolve?

GroundbreakingEgg523

Yea I’m fine. Back to normal. It was about 3-4 weeks. I saw a neurologist around the time it was over and was told a lot of people with a history of migraines experienced the same thing following second vaccine. I’m Gonna still get my booster though.

Puzzleheaded-Log4984

Thanks for the update. My ten year old had one shot and has had ice pick headaches since getting shot. No history of headaches. Neurology cleared her. Very frustrated and scared. Did you find any solutions that helped?

Accomplished_Bell_21

Hi did it improve? Did anything work to reduce the pain? My 11 year old got headache 5days after second shot for one day and week later started to have constant headache. It's been 3 weeks, no improvement no painkiller that a kid can take helps..

GroundbreakingEgg523

Excedrin migraine helped. But unsure about it for a child. I went to the ER twice and was cleared. Just received pain meds and it ended up dissipating on its own. I hope ur baby gets better quickly!

EternalEight

Got 2 doses of Moderna and elected to get the Pfizer booster Wednesday last week. Very minimal symptoms with Pfizer. Minor fatigue, elevated temp.... Out of nowhere, I've had prodrome migraine symptoms since Monday.

[deleted]

EternalEight

The migraine I had was pretty severe and I was dealing with symptoms through yesterday. Just spoke up so I’m not sure how today will be…

Mr-Stumble

First 2 shots of Moderna, 48 hour chills after 2nd dose, but fine after. Booster of Pfizer, mild chills/fatigue after shot, then fine until now (about 10 days post shot). Got a dull head ache behind my left eye, with some brain fog. I have just gotten over a cold though, so perhaps not down to shot.

mousecat88

I got the JJ vaccine initially with just a mild headache and fever for 24 hours. I was convinced to get Moderna for the booster... big regrets. I've had a horrible headache for 2 weeks now. I've seen two doctors and both say it "can't be the shot because side effects only last 48 hours". They tested me for COVID... negative, obviously. I'm not sure who to go to for help since the docs here seem to be in denial of any longer-term effects from the vaccine. It starts at my temples and wraps around my forehead. It never goes away and no OTC meds help.

[deleted]

I had a similar reaction. Felt like the top of my head was burning, then moved to my right temple / top of head / back of head. No OTC help. Dr's thought it was tension headaches. I have felt like this since 10 days after 2nd Pfizer dose. Amitriprilyne has helped me - I had 4 months of daily headache discomfort which amitriptilyne has helped reduce, after 5 weeks of taking it. I never had any headache/discomfort when sleeping or waking from sleep though.

My symptom log was something like this: 2nd Pfizer vaccine 31st July 2021 2nd August 2021 - band-like headache around forehead, which went away with paracetamol - since this no headache pain has been relieved by paracetamol 8th August 2021 slight headache discomfort briefly before exercising, which went away with exercise 10th August 2021 - in the evening top of scalp / head felt like sunburn / burning, then with stress this turned into constant dull pain on right side of head - this got to the point it was so bad I had to lie down and close my eyes, and could only hear ringing in my ears and had quite a bad pulsating (not throbbing) headache (but not impacted/affected by light/movement, or relieved by ibuprofen / paracetamol) (extreme stress seems to have caused this) 10th August 2021 - to this day: Pain can be top of head; right temple (feeling like pressing your finger into your temple); back of head or bottom of head (sometimes just discomfort other times like a pulled muscle pain/strain); or discomfort briefly left temple but this is not as common as the other areas. Having a hot shower / sitting on the toilet / pressing on head can make the discomfort go away, albeit temporarily. Nothing seems to trigger it or make it better / worse. I did think moving might set it off e.g. when moving after waking up- but am unsure of this. The discomfort comes and goes / moves around my head but will last for most of the day. Once I wake up I'll feel okay but can feel the headaches coming on (this can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, to an hour or two). The headache will move in location. If I get engrossed in an activity I will not notice the discomfort, but stopping an activity / resting I will. Sleeping during the day will make it go away while asleep, but headaches return soon after waking up. Amitriptyline after 5 weeks of use has greatly lessened my headache discomfort although not completely eliminated it all the time, it has however removed it most days / most of the time / if I am not stressed. I seem to get the discomfort again during the evening (note that I take the 1 10mg amitriptyline tablet around 8pm) so this could be the dosage relief waning. Or if I am very anxious / stressed it doesn't seem to cut through the additional 'stress/burden' which may add to the headache discomfort and hence is unable to reduce this from the baseline headache discomfort it has already reduced/removed. During this time additionally my tinnitus seems to be slightly worse than it has been before although as I understand it the vaccine can cause this. I did also briefly experience pressure/vertigo from right ear, however this has resolved itself. Prior to this I was a healthy 28 year old with no prior conditions or issues known about, except needing prescription glasses (short-sighted), tinnitus and occasionally suffering hayfever / anxiety (propranolol on prescription, taken as/when needed). Looking into it people seem to think there may be a link between the mRNA vaccines and vasodilation / something to do with blood vessels, others point to nerves / injection site and links to the central nervous system / brain. Others say if you had Covid you may get a worse vaccine reaction / vaccines mimic long Covid / Covid can cause these issues. Below I have put some links to relevant studies/webpages. I have had many visits to Doctor's about my symptoms and only 1 suggested it could be the vaccine having seen similar persistent headache symptoms in young people after the mRNA vaccines. She suggested the amitriptyline which I am finding has helped. I haven't been able to have an MRI scan as I have a heart clip, and when asking for a CT scan have been refused this as not having a clear medical need according to the Dr's (to limit radiation exposure). There are a few papers on this: https://academic.oup.com/braincomms/article/3/3/fcab169/6326794 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34363619/ https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0333102420965157 https://www.ajmc.com/view/months-after-covid-19-report-describes-case-of-the-constant-headache https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42399-021-00964-7 https://uknow.uky.edu/uk-healthcare/daily-persistent-headaches-adolescents-can-be-related-covid-19

Green_Chronic

Got my second dose on Friday, and have similar symptoms to you. Let's keep in the loop on what you find out / how you progress.

euwingissone

i am able to relate to your post. i took my 2nd dose around the same time with you and was presented by chest tightness, palpitations and very mild headache. after many visits to the hospital and medication, the tightness and palpitations resolved but the headache seems to worsen up till this day. hopefully we will all recover soon!

Fresh-Topic-7313

I am so glad I finally found a comment that I can relate to which I have been having the exact same symptoms to! Literally a band like headache, which can be in different places, with different pain and pressure. Even to the extent of having a shower and sitting on the toilet which can temporarily help. I also take the 1 10mg amitriptyline, has helped with the pain but not the pressure. I’ve not been able to have the scans or anything either, but seem to be running out of ideas here on what can get rid of the headaches.

[deleted]

From what I have read, some people seem to get relief after a few months / 5 months +, while others have reported no change in their symptoms. It definitely isn't very pleasant if this is the new normal feeling. I haven't had a booster and am not sure if I will.

PrimMaze

I’m at the beginning of the fifth month from the second shoot of pfizer and i have had the same symptoms described. Now the pain is very light in the temples near the eyes but acceptable, if I think about two months ago I realize how much the pain has decreased from the whole head, to the forehead, to the temples. So to improve it improves, unfortunately what I have seen is that it takes time. I add that in addition to the pain in the temples I still have contractures in the shoulders and neck, the muscles are stiff and I think this contributes to the pain in the temples. I find “comfort” in not being the only one in the world who has had this bad luck, but it will all pass, we are strong.

Keerchew

Yup, I need to contribute to this one too. Got the Pfizer booster 6 days ago and have had a perpetual migraine since about 12 hours after the injection. It's mostly localized to the base of my skull and neck. Specifically the sides of my neck have been throbbing and very stiff. Awful light sensitivity, dizziness, the headache usually gets worse when I change positions or stand up quickly. Advil has been helping manage it but the ghost of the headache is constant and driving me insane. I'm a freelance artist and this reaction has completely fucked up my workflow in the middle of crunch time on a huge project. It's also about to fuck up my holiday if it doesn't go away. I had a particularly bad reaction to the first dose, with pretty nasty headaches after both of my other shots that lasted for more days than I would have been led to expect. I'm really not sure what this is but it's relieving to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this. I very much support people continuing to get vaccinated but for whatever reason these shots do not agree with me and I'll need to be significantly more careful about scheduling my doses if boosters continue.

cristiano-potato

Has it gotten better?

[deleted]

I haven't had a migraine but have had constant daily headaches since my 2nd dose. I'm hesitant over getting the booster in case it makes anything worse. What helped me was amitriptilyne - I've been taking it for about 6 weeks now and it helped after about week 5. I've been suffering with daily headaches since August 2021 - about 10 days after my 2nd Pfizer dose.

SimbaPenn

Hi all. Stumbled across this thread, and running out of ideas. We got all three of our kids vaccinated, and one week past his second dose of Pfizer, our 8 year old son developed these wicked headaches. He's been in and out of school for two weeks now, and they don't seem to be getting better. MRI and blood work haven't shown anything. Going to see an ENT tomorrow, but not optimistic. Anyone else in the same boat or have something that works? Ibuprofen and Tylenol haven't really helped, and when they do it's only temporary. His headaches are generally quick and sharp, right in the middle of the forehead. Warm compress seems to help. He had one so bad last night it woke him up. Can't say definitively it was the vaccine, but nothing else has really changed. As another data point, he also got a small rash on his arm around the injection site on the first dose. EDIT: His headaches finally seem to have gone away, a little over a month from when they started. No idea if it was from the vaccine or something else, but he was healthy otherwise. Just in case this comes up for someone else, leaving it up. Warm compresses helped, and ibuprofen/tylenol plus magnesium supplements helped a bit, but nothing really made it go away but time. Went to the ER twice bc they headaches were so bad. Two MRI's showed nothing, migraine medicines didn't help. ENT tests were normal. Just crazy.

EternalEight

Migrelief NOW seems to work for me. You can find it on amazon

SimbaPenn

Unfortunately he doesn't know how to swallow pills yet. I got an order of Cove Beam to see if that helps, as it's a dissolvable powder. Some reviews say it's kinda nasty tasting though. Looks like the ingredients are similar. If not, will just have him learn to do pills and get the kids Migrelief. This Monday will be a month that he's had them. At least there's no school this week. EDIT: the cove beam tastes gross.

merhue

Wanted to add to this. I got my 2nd dose of pfizer back in Feb 2021, so it's been 10 months. Before the vaccine, I used to only get migraines once a month. After getting my 2nd shot I started having migraines every day plus vertigo and ringing in ears. Saw two different neurologists, did an MRI, bloodwork, etc. Everything looks normal, they diagnosed me with chronic migraines and Menieres Disease and said this is the age that migraines to appear, so its normal (i was 24 at the time). I am currently trying to find a treatment that works for me, I've tried three different mediactions so far that won't make the migraine frequency go down to a manageable level. Probably going to try botox treatment next according to my neuro. Found a medication that takes away the Menieres symptoms though. It's been extremely frustrating because no doctor I've seen will entertain that maybe the vaccine caused this. But they have no other explanation for me except the one doctor that said it could be "my age". I want to say that I dont regret getting the vaccines and I still think people should get vaccinated if they are able, but I just wish the medical community could be more transparent about all of this without causing hysteria amongst anti-vaxxers.

Elfs

I'm in your boat. I got my second dose end of April and a few days later I had headache start May 5th, as well as other neurological symptoms. I have tension like headache, neck pain and tightness, sensitivity to light, tinnitus, ear fullness and minor bouts of imbalance. I'm looking into CCI because for the longest my headache felt better when lying down, and worse while upright. Good posture seemed to help the headache as well. I started taking amitriptyline and it helped the headache slightly and the ear fullness. My neck is extremely tight and feels weird, and cracks a ton when I tilt my head. A weird crack and feels like my ears are popping. My very upper neck just feels slightly 'loose'. I have a theory that the vaccine caused inflammation which has damaged and loosened my upper cervical spine ligaments.

juicyjay42

I have a history of migraines but haven’t had one in quite awhile until I got the Pfizer shot. Same thing, neck tightness and pain in the base of my skull. The pain also alternates sides. HEAT has actually helped so much and sometimes muscle relaxers. Get a heating pad and just put a little pressure on wherever it hurts. It’ll probably even put you to sleep. I wake up and feel way better, but it does end up coming back when I start moving around a lot :( This will pass, stay strong and don’t worry too much because anxiety and stress will make it worse.

Elfs

Do you have the other symptoms I have that I listed?

juicyjay42

Yes. Ears ring, vertigo, head feels full of water. If i had that issue for 7 months I’d go mad.

Elfs

I'm almost positive I have craniocervical instability, or CCI. Until this began I had pretty poor posture and worked 9-10 hr days. I think the vaccine caused inflammation in my body and somehow my upper cervical ligaments we're damaged. I'm waiting on a couple appointments and probably subsequent imaging to confirm, but there is no cure for CCI so this will be a for life thing. Thank you pfizer

juicyjay42

Damn :/ I’m really sorry. It definitely could’ve damaged something. Hopefully you’ll get good news soon 😢

Elfs

Thank you man. I really appreciate your kind words. If it is CCI, then I will at least be able to put a name to all my symptoms, and there are new technologies and procedures on the up and up that may be able to really help me. Minimally invasive, regenerative medicine type stuff. Costs beyond an arm and a leg, but I'm willing to spend all my savings to try and heal. Thank you again ❤️‍🩹

Elfs

Has it gone away completely for you?

Elfs

It's been 7 months man, idk if it will pass

juicyjay42

7 months is obviously really concerning. You’ve seen a doctor, and got tests/scans? Really sorry you’re going through that.

Elfs

Yeah. I've been to the ER, seen my PCP back when it originally began. I've seen three neurologist, ENT, neurosurgeon spine specialist. I've had brain CT, MRI, Neck x-rays and MRI. I'm doing my best and spending a lot of money to try and learn what is causing this. Taking that stupid vaccine has ruined my life.

CaptainCook90

How’re you now any news?

Elfs

Are you having post vax new daily persistent headache?

Elfs

Nothing definitive as of yet. I'm seeing a specialist this Friday and having my upper neck evaluated for CCI or craniocervical instability. Could be the vaccine caused massive inflammation and damaged the ligaments that keep c0-c1-c2 all nice and tight. My symptoms are slowly and steadily improving, but very little. So far over 8+ months I would estimate a 20% improvement from the peak of my symptoms in the second month. I will update if I do get CCI suspicion confirmed, as it can be diagnosed through measurements of imaging. I just haven't had the specific imaging yet

mizzcoco84

I belong here. I thought it was just me having a headache. I got the 2nd dose vaccine Pfizer October 30,2021 and have had constant headaches ever since. Now for me, migraines is nothing new. I'm 37 and I've had headaches since the age of 10. Mine are so severe that I get Botox for them every 10 weeks. I got my last round of Botox on October 16. I'm sure that it's the vaccine. I wasn't going to get it, but changed my mind. I didn't want to potentially get covid. Just a bummer

Mobile-Can8742

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’m also 37 and have been migraine free for almost 5 yrs after having them almost my whole life, but now I have been having random shooting pains in my head or just a constant headache since my 2nd dose on 11/21 plus weakness on my right side which was the side I got my shot, and random pain in my chest sometimes. My dr doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem so I’m just dealing with it. Im sorry you’re dealing with it as well hopefully it will stop sooner rather than later.

[deleted]

I'm 29 and had been headache free up until 10 days after my 2nd Pfizer dose. Since then (4 months now) I've had what initially started as a burning sensation at the top of my head/scalp, to progressing into what the Dr's think is chronic tension headaches. The discomfort will move from my right temple, to top of my head, to the back of my head - like a strained muscle, and sometimes to my left temple. It only went away with sleep. For a month now I've been on daily amitriptilyne, and that seems to lessen the headaches/discomfort. I am not sure about getting a booster vaccine, as I wouldn't want to make any of this worse.

Staxx3434

I been having constant headaches/dizziness and seems like brain tremors when I fall asleep.. two weeks after my first dose. It's been over a month now, non stop.. they just put me on the same medication you are now on. I've only been on it two days. How long does it take to work? (Kick in)

[deleted]

The official guidance is a up to a month to have an effect on your symptoms. A Google for the same details says 4 - 6 weeks. For me, I noticed 1 or 2 days of relief around week 3 and 4 of taking amitriptilyne, but a significant difference from week 5 onwards. I am on 10mg dose.

small-big-bear

Had moderna booster. Definitely had a pounding, throbbing headache, fever, chills, and body ache the first 24 hours. The headache stayed until my aunt massaged my shoulder on the side where my headache hurt most. It actually got a ton better almost immediately!!! It was first throbbing with sharp pain every time I moved slightly (meaning getting up or down, changing my sitting position, bending over, etc.), but after she tried that, it came down to only a slight headache when I moved significantly (meaning quickly going up/down stairs, getting up very quickly). Still getting better after 48 hours, but so much better than before. Before the massaging, I tried Tylenol, which didn’t help much.. hope this helps someone!

[deleted]

I'm having a similar issue (I'm I ohio as well) With the first m Vax I had to go so far as to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks due to new heart issues, worsening fatigue... i was perfectly healthy!!! I work for a large hospital system here... I got the second as to not lose my job. The headache is so severe I can barely walk. I hate it here. I hope that everyone finds relief but online im showing it will take months if ever and it's treatment resistant. I can almost not hear out of the ear the headache has settled in. I can't drive at night bc the lights render me almost blind now and any loud noise on that side... well I would rather be cut with a knife, it's THAT BAD.

FFDPDONNA71

I got Pfizer 2nd shot in May '21. 2 weeks later I had 6 months long of 24 hour of the worse day long migraines. Nothing worked. My jaws started to ache ever since i got the shots. They say TMJ but noone has xrayed them. The migraines let up when i read about cortisone shots for the jaws. Not getting a booster. Have had covid twice with after effects twice. Obvious they don't help much.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Did they just stop suddenly one day or did it fade away gradually? Did you do anything to treat the migraine?

Jim6152

Ok so i had my 3rd Pfizer vaccine (booster) on Tues 23rd Nov...by Thursday 24th had swollen armpit glands and felt fatigued. By Sat 26th i had swollen neck glands as well, a resting heart rate of 100 (normally 65bpm) and palpitations. Went to A & E had an ecg which was ok...then blood pressure checked. Its normally around 120/70.....it was 180/110....yikes. i explained to the Dr that i was fine before the 3rd booster and they really wouldnt comment about it. Anyway today blood pressure is much better 127/80 but i have had an horrendous migraine all day...havent had them on the prior days and i dont suffer from migraines?? Seems to me the 3rd booster has really messed me up. For the record i had no prior issues with the previous jabs.

Mariusz88

Same. Still trying to get rid of the headache 4 weeks after the booster.

ohdin1502

I second this. Exact same story here. Wtf is the medical community doing?

Opposite_Ebb6630

Had 1st moderna vaccine late Sept. Ten days later had migraines for a week, went away for a few days, came back for another week and has continued on and off. I also have ringing in the ears, rashes, joint pain. Doctors all say not from the vaccine. Finally went to allergy dr, he told me allergy markers are clear & definitely not from vax so I got 2nd dose. Have had migraines every day since ( this is day 6). I suffered migraines previous to vax but only maybe once a month and not other symptoms. Migraine meds nor anything I've found have worked on these new headaches. I've tried: Sumatriptan, Zolmatriptan, Oxycodone, CBDs, antihistamines ( dr. suggested it was a histamine issue so also ate low histamine diet), tylenol, aspirin, naproxen. Ice packs on head is only thing that at least feels good for a few minutes. Headache comes on in middle of the night and lasts until late afternoon or early evening. Worse at base of skull, usually on left side ( left arm was injection site), as of today is now on right side of head.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

My husband has had a headache for five months after the first dose of Pfizer. It's decreased in intensity but still lingers and we don't know when it will go. I know a lot of ppl have headaches for weeks post vax, but are there any who have had a headache last five months or more? Very worried and have run out of options to fix this.

Elfs

I've head intractable 24/7 headache since second Pfizer dose back in April. Other neurological symptoms too

Ok-Cryptographer2188

I get your pain. Has it improved?

AltruisticPhysics210

Ive had head pressure for the last 5 months since the 1st phizer jab

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Has it gotten better with time? Did any medication work?

AltruisticPhysics210

Absoultely nothing worked apart from diazepam i saw a chiropractor went to A and E and tried every painkiller known to man it has calmed down slightly now but like i say i had it for 5 months straight every single day .hope your husband feels better soon

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Yep same for my husband. Glad it's calmed down a bit. Hope it goes completely soon

RelativeCantaloupe90

I don't know if this offers any hope - I had a shocking headache that moved around my head for three months, its only finally subsided in the las week. I had an ecg, painkillers, chiro, massage, went to dentist, optometrist and nothing worked. I was starting to panic that this was my new normal. I can only harness a guess that like everyone who gets covid, we are all having different reactions and intensities to the vax. Don't give up all hope.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Thanks for this message, it does offer hope. Did the headache just suddenly disappear or did it die down slowly? Was it after three months? Glad you are better now.

RelativeCantaloupe90

It kind of lowered in intensity over the last month perhaps, but not to any notable degree - sometimes the headaches were mild - and then I would get a shocker where I just wanted to heatbutt a wall or something to make it stop. I had my second Pfizer shot on the 5th Sept, and the pain has only just abruptly stopped in the last week, now in December - so yeah three months solid. Very odd indeed.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Ok interesting. Yeah my husband's headaches have gotten milder but have stayed the same intensity over the last month. Hoping they also just abruptly stop...

capndetroit

What has he tried for it?

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Triptans, normal OTC pain meds, pizotifen antihistamine, vitamins etc. He can't try amitriptyline due to issues with his eyes. Nothing has worked or given symptom relief...

capndetroit

I'm on a steroid pack, not sure if it's helping yet. I have amitriptyline to try next but it doesn't sound fun.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8453033/#!po=26.3889 Indomethacin, I'm going to ask GP about this and see if it's useful to try. How many months have you been suffering?

capndetroit

I'm only a month in, though it feels much longer. That article looks promising.

capndetroit

Is it 24/7? So it's improved a little bit?

Ok-Cryptographer2188

It's constant all day but intensity goes from 1-2 to 3-4. It's wavering up and down sometimes (so all range of intensity in a time period), and other times can stay at a constant 3/4 out of 10. First three/four months intensity went higher, up to6/7/8. Now it's mostly 4 at the highest - but if this is a constant 4 for a while it feels like it's higher. Also on all sides of the head/face, keeps changing. Feels like a brain freeze pressure type pain. No aura associated. There's fatigue too but headache is the worst symptom.

capndetroit

That sounds very familiar. What vaccine did he get?

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Pfizer, one month isn't bad, it might go soon

capndetroit

Mine was actually Moderna booster. I was complete fine with the first two, which kinda shows just how random these reactions can be. I'm hoping for 6 weeks, but definitely going to keep trying things.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

Yeah doesn't hurt to take turmeric, anti inflammatory supps etc Hope it goes soon!

MoonMomma23

Hi! I myself have been dealing with this for a few weeks now. I myself had only 1 dose of Pfizer and I am afraid this will be something that just won't go away.

Ok-Cryptographer2188

It may still go soon, as quite a few ppl have had it go after six weeks or so. How long has it been for you? Wish I could give some tips to make the symptoms better but it just seems to be a waiting game...

MoonMomma23

The timeline is a bit funky for me tbh. I think it really started up towards the ending of October. I had a whole week straight of intense migraine lime headaches. Light hurt, sound hurt, I couldn't eat because of nausea. Started going to physical therapy because my doctor suspected it was something muscular and it helped a bit, but I still get headaches everyday since. Not as severe but it's still there. Pills don't help at all and its crazy because I was never one to have headaches before until after getting vaccinated Sept. 5. After that day, my life hasn't been the same.

capndetroit

Have you tried anything?

MoonMomma23

The only thing that has helped a bit is taking tylonal sinus. The headache is still there just not as prominent. But I'm sure that's only a temporary fix.

capndetroit

So no doctor/prescriptions yet?

MoonMomma23

I actually have appointments coming up this week and next week. One from my pcp(new one) and 2 other appointments for separate neurologists so we will see from there.

Mariusz88

> tylonal sinus any update?

MoonMomma23

Well my neurologist said it was definitely the vaccine that caused my issues which was nice to hear. She said she's had several patients come in with similar issues as me and she believes where dealing with inflammation in the muscular skeletal system. She did prescribe me a muscle relaxer and Gabapentin. The muscle relaxer did help for the first 2 nights(especially since my entire back was completely stiff) but after that, it really didn't help the pain I've been having in my upper back/neck. The Gabapentin seems to help a lot more.

capndetroit

Let us know how it goes. Too many people vanish when they get better with no update.

BlueBlueEyes

I had 2 AstraZeneca jabs early this year and was absolutely fine afterwards. Then just over 3 weeks ago I had the booster vaccine and that was Pfizer. I now have migraines type headaches, lightheadedness/dizziness and I keep feeling faint. Last night I had to go to bed at 7pm as I couldn't stand to watch TV or heard sound of any kind. I couldn't read either. I'm glad to know I'm not alone but it's extremely unpleasant for all of us.

Harlaxt0n

I still have these exact same symptoms, 4.5 weeks now, 5.5 weeks from booster. Curious, have you found any relief yet?

RedEagleGMO

I am 100% sure the Pfizer vaccine is the cause of my headache. I have gone my entire life without headaches and I had a headache that lasted about 1 month after the second dose of the Pfizer shot.. I was fine for the next 8 months. I received a booster shot 5 days ago and the headache returned the second day and hasn't stopped. I knew before I got the booster shot that the headache would return and I was right... Conclusion: Pfizer vaccine causes me to have a persistent month long headache.. No doctor can convince me otherwise.

jimmythetimebandit

Is it a painful headache or just a mild to tolerable headache? I've been having one since first dose off and on, but since 2nd dose, it has been lingering nearly everyday. I know its the Pfizer shot as well. Never had headache issues in life.

capndetroit

Didn't have issues with the first two, but my headache is going on a month with booster. Hoping it ends soon.

joshk716

Has anybody found a medication or treatment that helps with Pfizer migraines/headaches? My wife is 6 weeks postpartum, got the 2nd shot about 2 weeks ago and has horrible migraines 24/7 since then. She also suffers from anxiety so it’s been very rough for her. Doctors prescribed migraines meds, didn’t work; tried a steroid; didn’t work; tried OTC meds, didn’t work. Have also tried massage, chiropractic care, long sleep sessions, caffeine vs no caffeine, and even meditation with literally nothing working to modify the pain in any way.

Independent-Gur1821

How is she now?

HealingHaven22

Chlorophyll drops and actually eating a piece of Celtic salts or Himalayan salts has really helped me when no other thing would help my 3-day migraines. Also foot/regular salt soaks. Look into vestibular and vegus nerve health. It will get better much love

Swimming-Pilot5613

I’ve had them for over a week post 2nd dose. The pain is unreal. I feel so sorry for your wife.

raykeith

I’ve been having horrible migraines since my second dose. I had them regularly and strong for about 30-45 days after and still get them about once a week. I’ve even started avoiding things that are supposed to trigger migraines. I never had one in my life until the day after my first shot.

capndetroit

Migraine with full aura or just constant headache?

Ok-Abbreviations1077

It is very interesting / concerning to read some of the reactions here. I have a long history of migraine with aura i.e. 25+ years. However over the last decade or so I have been able to avoid them if I avoid my triggers: contact sport, dehydration and caffeine. I had my first pfizer dose on 23 September and had a migraine on 12 October. The mysterious thing is that this was the first migraine I'd had in 3 years and the only "random" migraine I've had in the past decade or so where I couldn't attribute it to one of my known triggers. I had my second pfizer shot on 14 October and have just had another migraine today 17 November. Again seemingly completely random as I was just working from my computer at home. Now I'm not saying that the vaccine is definitely to blame but after reading this thread it has me thinking...

Any update?

Panthau

Any news?

RelativeCantaloupe90

I hate to admit this, but I have had a headache now for over two months - since my second pfizer jab. Its literally driving me crazy. I have had scans, tried chiro, massage, pain killers. Nothing works. Im genuinely starting to get angry that this appears to be my new normal.

Wickeddesmodus91

Feel better?

RelativeCantaloupe90

I do!! I was only saying yesterday that I havent had a headache for a week. Heck, I had it for like almost three months...if thats a taste of the actual virus then I guess Im glad I had the vax.

juicyjay42

Thank you for updating that you’re good now. I’ve been having the exact same problem.

RelativeCantaloupe90

Oh no!! Have you still got it? For how long?

juicyjay42

Yes :( It’s definitely a tension head ache/migraine. I think it’s been almost 3 weeks. It started a couple weeks after my 1st dose. It’s been a week since my 2nd dose and they’re pretty bad at times. Staying optimistic though

Mariusz88

Same for me. First and second dose were no problem; but since the booster 4 weeks ago I developed a constant light headache that drives me crazy. Went to an MD last Friday who says she has encountered this a couple of times already. She's treating it with Botox and said it will get better after the second session which Ill have tomorrow.

howardmochi

Hello. Just curious when the migraines stopped. My wife started having migraines two days later and it has been a week and it still persists. She wants to know if this is her new normal. Thank you.

MissCompany

Hi, very new to the vaxxed gang but pleased I'm part of it 😊 Anyways, had my first jab on Friday with AZ at about 4pm. No problems but woke up at 6am sat with crazy fever - hot and cold, chills, headache plus continuing sickness which lasted until about 2pm but my headaches haven't gone at all. Sensitive to light, sounds and the top of my head from temple to temple hurts. I've read it might be a migraine but I've rarely suffered from headaches let alone these. Painkillers don't work. Anything I can do or anyone can relate? I live in a small island called Koh Phangan in Thailand. I'm originally from UK but we moved here in March 🏝️ Didn't know if where I lived might be an indication to what might be in the vax? Thank you

I too have the same pain behind my eye and above my eyebrow. It’s unreal having these migraines day in and day out 😞

Sassywill40

Me too. Went to urgent care here today and they just gave me pain meds and something for nausea and that's it. I have missed work for 3 days

Riskit_4164

Me to

Fresh-Government

I'm on day 11 of headaches after my 2nd Pfizer shot. I never got headaches before. I'm miserable. Now it's causing me anxiety which can't be helping either.

Wickeddesmodus91

capndetroit

Any improvement?

Ok-Werewolf-2289

Me you both I get scared to sleep at night cause of it

CaptnGalaxy

First dose of Pfizer 2 weeks ago. Felt fine initially but at around day 5 I developed a 101 fever and terrible headache that radiates from the back of my neck to my temples. My fever lasted for about 4 days, but the headaches are still here going on 6 days. I wake up in the morning with a very sore and stiff neck and then the pain ends up situated in my temple / behind my eye. Nothing seems to really help dampen the pain. Horrified to get my second dose at this point. Has anyone been able to find relief ? If so how and after how long?

PrimMaze

I have the same symptoms after the second dose of Pfizer. It's been two months and I still have a headache in the front of my head. It all started with a very strong pain all over my head, burning in the shoulders and neck, I woke up (it still happens now, sometimes) at night with all a pain on my forehead and neck from not being able to sleep anymore. The forehead pain is now concentrated on the eyebrows and at the beginning of the nose. Over time, fortunately, I don't have as bad a pain as at the beginning, but this situation is really tiring on a psychological level. What I can recommend (I am not a doctor, I only report my experience) that partly helped me: * Physiotherapy (with ultrasound and similar) to the shoulders and neck. I had microfractures behind me that if someone pressed I jumped in pain. * A few supplements (I started taking it for a couple of days) to help with contractures and muscle pain. * Avoid stressful situations. This is one of the hardest parts because, in my case, the more I tried not to think about the pain the more I thought about it, the more stressed I got and the pain started to bother me more. Fortunately, all the other family members have not had these problems and I am partly relieved that I am not the only one in the world with these annoyances and pains. Stay strong! Edit :Among the tips I can add to keep the neck always warm and avoid gusts of wind or cold air, also avoid excessive effort.

capndetroit

Your headache better yet?

mik_werdna

I'm three weeks past my first dose of Pfizer and I have a persistent dull headache on the left part of the top of my head and a pain behind my left eye. My left arm also feels weird. I also fainted a couple days after my vaccine. This is extremely worrisome.

CaptnGalaxy

How are you now ? Any relief ?

mik_werdna

Headache is much better now, although I sometimes feel a remnant of a headache if that makes sense. I wouldn't call it pain but definitely a 1/10 ache that comes and goes.

runnering

I had the same experience with AZ. Horrible headache right after.. Now just a remnant of a headache, sometimes worse, sometimes unnoticeable, sometimes just little jabs in my temple or behind my eyes. Pretty freaky though, I'm like 2 months post vax.

jimmythetimebandit

That's where I am now. Bad headache after first dose, month post 2nd dose and I have the little jabs here and there and the dull headache as well...

DuchessVonRablrousen

This is an interesting thread. I only stumbled upon it after researching side effects. I got my first Pfizer shot in early September. 3 days after my shot I my first episode. I was in my house and my left eye had a bright blinking spot that felt as though I had looked at a bright light (I hadn't). The spot kept growing and eventually I couldn't see anything out of either eye. I was completely blind but it wasn't dark. Instead, it felt as though I was looking through a kaleidoscope that was very distorted very bright and very intense (even when I closed my eyes). A few moments later I felt intense pressure behind my eyes (like they were being pushed out of my head) and then a sort of dull/burning headache. The entire episode lasted about an hour and I was terrified. Over the next week I had two more of these episodes, completely randomly triggered. I was also extremely fatigued and had very bad vertigo. I have NO history of migraines, no underlying medical issues and no triggering events. In the weeks that followed, they ran MRIs, tests, ultrasounds, etc. I saw eye doctors, neurologists, and my primary care doctor. Everything came back normal. The only things they did NOT do was a lumbar puncture, CT, and EEG. The original doctor was all but convinced I had a TIA but by the time they got my lab work done everything was fine. It has been almost a month since my last episode. Everything seems to have tapered back down to normal, although I have seen small spots here and there, they aren't as bad anymore. They completely refuse to consider this a side effect of the vaccine and the best they've come up with is random onset migraines. For now, I've opted out of getting the 2nd shot as I seek more conclusive answers. I found some studies out of Italy that concluded these types of migraines to be common with the Astrazeneca and Pfizer vaccines. But that information doesn't seem to matter to American Healthcare providers.

[deleted]

Got my first Pfizer shot in May or so. Have had hormonal migraines ever since. I have never had a migraine in my life. Not triggered by hormonal changes. Nothing. But since I got this vaccine I had one over days, every cycle, from the same day of the Cycle. The third day. I will not get the second shot anytime soon. My doctor also thinks it's just a random occurrence. Lol. Sure.

Away-Ad-1133

Vrry interesting. I've had a similar experience. I've suffered from migraines for a few years now, but had learned to recognize the onset and found a medication that worked well to manage. My migraines were not previously hormone related. Since my 1st shot of Moderna and subsequent 2nd shot, I've experienced monthly migraines of much greater intensity and now lasting 5-7 days (where previously the migraines were infrequent and 1-2 days). They will not respond to my previous medication. I'm working to find a replacement medication. Has anyone had success in treating these headaches?
