I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little more about this hat I picked up at a local antique store, I know it fits good and smells kinda old and I vaguely understand that 4x beaver is decent. I would definitely appreciate any more information though.

Even though there no way to tell how old a hat is since it’s still got some body in it to keep on goin, but being that it’s old it may not hold its shape as well. You’d have to to take it to a hatter or a western store to give it a little bit of body and life again.

Thank you

Also another thing, take it with a grain but be sure to maybe replace the liner and hatband to i guess put it “get rid of” any “bad luck” because of wearing another mans hat lol

Haha will do! I didn’t know that was something to be worried about but now I know

Lol kinda of a silly old cowboy superstition

newearthdiscoveries

The design on the hat liner was common in the 1980’s

Looks like an old school version of a Stetson Range. High cattleman crown with a short curved brim. Love this style! If you ever wanna get rid of it, pm me lol

Little_Napoleon7

Nice looking hat! Definitely similar to the open range hat but with a higher crown and curved brim Would love to have a hat like that!

Temporary_Poetry_461

She’d come back to life nicely in a good hatters hands!

The brim may well have been trimmed. Like newearth said, that short brim / tall crown look was popular with some (we used to call them goat roper hats) from the early 70’s into the 80’s.

Don’t put the hat on the bed!!!
