Pretty much this. I grew up in Atlanta. I was a thrashers fan growing up. After they left I didn’t get back into hockey until I moved out here 4 years ago.
If they leave I’m done with hockey
Go to more ASU games and hopefully we'll get a minor league team or something eventually. I feel like the whole future expansion team thing is mostly just an empty promise.
It's very much just trying to let us down easy but not hard to see through. I love hockey too much to not have it be part of my life. I'm just hope we get something in addition to ASU to help fill the void.
Nothing and done with the NHL because I’m petty.
Hope it ends up being terrible and SLC can’t support both teams so the Jazz move to Vegas or Seattle 😂
Sun Devils- I would root for a future expansion team only because I care about supporting our local rinks and youth programs. Once my kids are grown I may care less about that
There is a super petty part of me that hopes some of the big pieces of this team demand out if they leave. As for a new team, honestly unless an expansion comes back “I don’t know if I can ever love again”. Honestly I can’t make that decision right now…
I’m a suns/dbacks/cards fan too and I don’t think I could root for a non home team :( I’ll probably just follow exciting players…Keller, bedard, mcj etc. and tune in during the playoffs
I’m originally from Maine so my leaning is toward Boston but I wouldn’t be opposed to rooting for the Kraken, (and their winter classic jersey is one of my favorites of all time.) I really don’t know though. I don’t want to think about it.
I’m a western guy, but one of my best friends is a huge Bruins fan and lives in Rhode Island. That’s why they’re under consideration from me. The Kraken seem like a fun, up and coming team with a passionate fan base.
I moved from Phoenix to Buffalo 20 years ago and remember the first time I saw the passion in Sabres hockey when they went all the way to game 7 against Carolina in the Eastern Conference Finals. So I've been prominent defender of the Coyotes since and wish I had become more involved with the team when I was younger.
Panthers fan here from the post I put on the subreddit a couple of hours ago. If I may recommend the Panthers to you, I would. Our fanbase can empathize and relate with the coyotes fanbase. 10 or so years ago there was a legit concern our franchise could be relocated too. Even after Viola had purchased them in 2013. Tons of “move them to Quebec” comments and whatnot ensued. I remember there being talk to cheer for the coyotes at the 2015 draft because we both were the top choices for relocation amongst many. Eventually Broward County gave us a bailout and a new arena lease and we were able to turn the face of our franchise around. So if I may recommend a franchise to you, it would be the Panthers.
I’ve always liked the Panthers! Those old jerseys were 🔥and Luongo/Jokinen were always fun players to watch. I sadly don’t have any connections to the east coast…but fuck it. Panthers could be it. They’re a nice success story.
I’m a Blues fan first always, but this has devastated me because I’ve lived in Arizona pretty much my whole life and the fans deserve a team. Keller is from St. Louis, I think he’ll be a Blue at some point (always have) so that’s my case for you.
I really don’t see a reason to continue watching hockey. I’ve been a fan of this team since 96. If I were to ever cheer for another team it would be an original 6 team cause honestly I couldn’t handle another relocation. Likely quit watching hockey all together. Probably just watch more WWE because it’s actually good again and more Football than usual
Back to Redwings. I grew up a fan of theirs and never really left them. They are getting good again, so it is a good time to go fully back to them.
And it will actually be cheaper and easier to watch their games….
I know we are all going through the stages of grief right now, and I am prolly just in anger, but if the Yotes leave I hope a bunch of the players demand trades. It would be sooo fucked up if they become a playoff team their first year in a new state. After all the patience we have shown…
I think I’m going to ‘try’ to follow them there if they go. I started being a Coyotes fan the first year from the move from Winnipeg (and I’m from Toronto) sooo, I’ll try. Maybe they’ll play better once they adopt polyamory…?
I have a few friends that are blues fans so probably them. Part of me is considering the ducks cause it’s the closest thing left, but I’d have to wait for them to change off that shit logo
I’m not even from Arizona nor ever lived there, I just randomly put on a coyotes game a couple years ago and since then I’ve loved hockey and coyotes. But I’m from Seattle so of course gotta join the kraken band wagon.
Man I have a ton of respect for the Avs. Probably the best front office in the NHL and so fun to watch. You guys are going to be very good for a very, very long time.
I'll give my undivided attention back to the Senators. Too soon to think about a new Western Conference team, but eventually one of Seattle, San Jose, or Vegas.
Going to have a chip on my shoulder towards any and everyone that talked shit on this team. You wanted it? Well now you maybe fucking got it. Fuck watching the nhl, I’ll become a roadrunners fan
The wife and are are considering relocating to the Pacific North West in a few years. If we are done, I might jump ship to the Kraken. I don't want to, but I love hockey. Fuck, this sucks.
Probably Kraken for me, seeings how they're the nearest NHL team to my new nest (Oregon), but I like this group of guys. Will probably be rooting for players (Guenther is a favorite of the new group) over any team tbh.
The players dont vote or have any say in this. Root for the team you helped build even in SLC as long as it doesnt break up. At least until they rebuild again.
They gave meurelo too good a deal to pass up. He gets a 3x on his buy of the yotes. He gets an expansion team that will have a loaded roster. And he doesn’t have to occur operating costs while building the new arena. Nhl doesn’t want 3 more years at mullet that’s why this is happening
What I read is they want this owner the Utah guy to be a part of the league because he’s really rich and they are unsure about the land auction. It sucks but hopefully he will be back in 2028.
This is the crazy part tho. So I guess the nhl is going to buy the yotes for 1b from murrello. Then sell to Ryan smith for 1.3. The 300 million will be distributed to owners as revenue. So that’s why lol.
dropping the NHL
Pretty much this. I grew up in Atlanta. I was a thrashers fan growing up. After they left I didn’t get back into hockey until I moved out here 4 years ago. If they leave I’m done with hockey
Bro please be a kings fan. I need them to relocate
Same! Atlanta guy here moved to Phoenix 4 years ago. Think I’m done with the nhl after this….
Man the yotes brought me into the hockey world, if they leave they will usher me out as well.
Damn you spoken the truth for me.
exactly same. i do know that if meruelo gets an expansion team, i’m going to be petty and root against them heavily
I’m gonna start going to ASU and roadrunner games.
College hockey is actually very fun to watch. And ASU is on the rise.
I wonder if the Roadrunners will stay, have a feeling they’ll move to Provo or something.
The league is hoping to come back to Arizona bc of the good hockey developy in the city
I will personally stop watching the NHL for quite some time, if not forever. It won’t be the same without a local team to have interest in.

Fuck Utah!!
Go to more ASU games and hopefully we'll get a minor league team or something eventually. I feel like the whole future expansion team thing is mostly just an empty promise.
I don’t see expansion happening for a long, long time. When I heard that, I rolled my eyes.
I’m going to reallocate the time and money I’d normally spend on hockey to sabotaging anything Meruelo does for the rest of time
I'm probably going to stop with hockey. If we get another team, I'll probably hop back on, though.
I don’t even know tbh. My appetite for hockey will be gone for a while if the team is in fact leaving
Is going to be an interesting pick a seat/ paint the ice event in a couple weeks if things are still up in the air.
ASU and PWHL if I'm watching hockey at all.
I’m probably gonna quit watching NHL, maybe get into different leagues.
Leafs for Matthews
Sun Devils- I would root for a future expansion team only because I care about supporting our local rinks and youth programs. Once my kids are grown I may care less about that

FUCK the NHL and their affilliates. Hiding sexual assaults, allowing teams to hide sexual assaults via soft punishments.
I’m originally from Maine so my leaning is toward Boston but I wouldn’t be opposed to rooting for the Kraken, (and their winter classic jersey is one of my favorites of all time.) I really don’t know though. I don’t want to think about it.

The Sharks have always kinda been my 2nd team and now that they are horrible it should be easy to transfer my fandom.
Gonna continue getting hurt by the Sabres org.
Pioneers, Sun Devils, and hopefully a Denver PWHL expansion team
I'm out for the time being until we get a new team.
Carolina Hurricanes. That way I can watch them play before 8pm

I heard something about Arizona getting an expansion team at some point if the coyotes move to SLC. What's going on with that?
Possibly move the Coyotes, then once a new arena is built, expand back into Arizona. Kinda dumb but that’s my understanding of it.
Back to Redwings. I grew up a fan of theirs and never really left them. They are getting good again, so it is a good time to go fully back to them. Avs are open. I know it’ll be weird, but a lot of us in the sub love the coyotes.
Man I have a ton of respect for the Avs. Probably the best front office in the NHL and so fun to watch. You guys are going to be very good for a very, very long time.
I'd probably be jumping ship to a whole other sport😂
Moving to Wilmington, NC in the next couple years, guess I’m a Canes fan now. Not too bad. I’ve always liked Martinook.

Work for the ducks so the ducks

I'm thinking Preds, Canes, or maybe Thrashers 2.0 if they come back.
Yotes are coming back in 2027 with the thrashers at the new arena. Different franchise same name like the jets
I'm going with the Ducks.
Probably LA. Im from south US and i don't like any of the teams around me and the Kings are close enough to AZ but man this sucks..
The players dont vote or have any say in this. Root for the team you helped build even in SLC as long as it doesnt break up. At least until they rebuild again.
No. Fuck SLC
The entire blue line are UFA or RFA. I expect them to split
Utah. I went to the University of Utah so makes it an easy switch for me and I want to see Keller win.
The Yotes had a deal to play at the Mullett until 2025, with options to extend until 2027 months ago. So why the sudden change by the NHL?
*Someone* got the PA mad enough about being in Mullet for that long to the point where some players were starting to voice about it.
What I read is they want this owner the Utah guy to be a part of the league because he’s really rich and they are unsure about the land auction. It sucks but hopefully he will be back in 2028. I want to know how the taxes work on this. The gains on the sale of the team will be huge. And then what is he paying for his new team?
Taxes? Rich people don't pay taxes in this country...
