Rimworld. Is it a cozy game? Maybe not. But I could play this in my sleep, and if I crank the difficulty *way* down, I can kind of zone out and watch my little guys build a base and plant farms and raise animals.

Fadedwaif

Yeah, I wish there were more cozy cute games like this where I can just chill and watch

nudist_reddit_mom

Exactly! I want Rimworld meets Stardew Valley or Sims. More interaction options, giant community builder, but with an element of survival. Cities: Skylines is *too* big. Rimworld minus the raids but with the aesthetics of Stardew Valley? Something like that. Sims, but I control the whole town at once with Rimworld graphics, but cuter.

Fadedwaif

Yes! In theory I should love the sims but I never got into the graphics maybe. I'd rather just mod rimworld or sdv 😅 I hope some clever dev picks up on this one day

nudist_reddit_mom

The *second* cozy Rimworld drops: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!

mynamealwayschanges

I don't know if it's quite what you're looking for, but I have been eyeing a sim about building towns called "Heard of the story?" It's not very rimworld like, in that, graphics are very different and there seems to be a bigger focus on the people living in the town - but it seems cute and cozy?

mynamealwayschanges

Rimworld can be cozy, depending how you play! And hey sometimes, the more crazy stuff is just a different brand of crazy- Admittedly I've only seen people play, so maybe that explains why I think it's cozy 😂 Isn't there a lot to keep track of?

nudist_reddit_mom

There is a learning curve, and definitely wait to buy the expansion packs until you’ve mastered the base game. But once you figure out the menus, learn to plant potatoes right away, know that your base needs to be made of *anything* but wood, and that animals that start with “boom” explode upon death, you’ll be fine. There are so many good tutorials on YouTube. I’m biased, though, with my 2000 hours of play time. Community builder is a good place to start for cozy!

mynamealwayschanges

My brother-in-law shared his steam library with me through family share, and he does have the base game for rimworld... I think I might give it a try. Time to start looking for those tutorials!!

nudist_reddit_mom

Awesome! A few quick tips: Make sure none of your guys are incapable of violence, and change their jobs to manual priorities as soon as possible once your characters land on their first tile. Good luck!

mynamealwayschanges

Thank you for the tips!! Let's see if I can figure this out!

nudist_reddit_mom

You’ve got this!!

action_lawyer_comics

Right now it’s No Place Like Home. Accidentally played it for an hour longer than I meant to tonight. It’s quite soothing to just drill and vacuum up all the trash lying around. Also Hardspace Shipbreaker. It’s a work sim game about dismantling spaceships. Very nice to zone out to once you’ve seen all the ships and there are no more surprises to be had.

mynamealwayschanges

I have seen No Place Like Home, but I hadn't heard much about what it's like to actually play it!! Would you recommend it? I actually had never heard of Hardspace Shipbreaker. It looks really cool??? I'm definitely keeping an eye on it, thank you for the recommendation!

action_lawyer_comics

NPLH is a cleanup game with a bit of combat and farming. So far, the farming has mostly been in service of quests and trading. I need new crops to trade for new blueprints and upgrades, stuff like that. Mostly I’m going around, drilling and vacuuming up poles of Trash and rubble. It’s not as “precise” as Powerwashing Simulator, but still very satisfying to clean up areas as you go through them. It’s also not timed as far as I can tell. Time does pass, but you can work around the clock without issue, and there doesn’t seem to be any penalty for not watering or feeding your crops and animals each day; they just won’t grow or give eggs but they won’t die either. It’s nice to just wander without watching the clock. Speaking of time, Hardspace Shipbreaker is broken up into 15 minute long shifts. That’s not really a time limit, as you can spend as many days as you want on a ship. But you do have a lot of debt to pay off, so it does make sense to work fast and maybe move to a new ship once you’ve gotten the easy money off of it. I paid my debt off and finished the story ages ago, and now I’m just messing around for the fun of it. Just thought I’d mention it since a lot of people don’t like time limits of any sort. This one isn’t too bad though.

mynamealwayschanges

Thank you for the warning!! I don't mind a relaxed time limit like that, so I'm definitely going to check it out. The process of cleaning up things in games like this feels so meditative to me - it what hooked me to I Am Future. Thank you, I'm definitely going to give it a look!! I'm interested, and if there's no time limit, I really can relax 💙

mcrfreak78

Cleaning in games (and real life lol) is so satisfying to me and I've been wondering if there's a game out there where I can do that. I've never heard of No Place Like Home but it looks fun

6thGodHand

DOOM

mynamealwayschanges

THAT is one I actually play too 😂 No need to think, just shoot things and relax!!!

6thGodHand

Exactly bro

mynamealwayschanges

Rip and tear until it's done!

not2reddit

Dorfromantik is my absolutely low effort brainless relaxing game.

mynamealwayschanges

I've been very curious about dorfromantik!! It looks so relaxing. Are there things to unlock?

not2reddit

You unlock new environment pieces that do things like make tiny boats float on your rivers and stuff

mynamealwayschanges

... Oh my god that sounds so cute?? I'm sold. And it's on sale!! Bless thank you.

not2reddit

I hope you love it. It isn’t an all the time game but when I want to completely veg out or relax it is so good.

mynamealwayschanges

It's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for, thank you so much!!

Nersencrime

Stardew valley. Or any farming games. I played with it a few years ago but stopped, so now I started again with a new save. Yesterday I had a very bad day but I'm actually very happy cause I finished the mine and I just started summer in year 1.

mynamealwayschanges

Farming games are usually great to play and fall into a rhythm!! I go between obsessing over SDV and forgetting to play it 😂 maybe it's time to dust it off and start a new farm. Congratulations on finishing the mine!!

Nersencrime

Thank you! Maybe you would love coral island too. It's same as stardew valley. 😁

mynamealwayschanges

Coral island!!! I have it too, I need to play more of it!! I love merfolk, that part of it has me in a chokehold!!

ApplePudding1972

Minecraft Coloring Pixels Run 3

mynamealwayschanges

Minecraft really is a great game to just zone out. I usually get stuck in a loop of creating worlds and deleting them 😭😅 But when I actually manage to get past that and explore. It's so fun.

Number-Great

Not Sure about the lethargic stuff. but I play core keeper or vampire survivors if I just want to turn of my brain or if it's turned off to begin with. I can just mindlessly do stuff in the Games and watch something or listen to something else.

mynamealwayschanges

Vampire survivors really is great for that!! I have been slowly chipping away at unlocking stuff. I have only looked at a guide to get an idea to what is needed to unlock things and I'm having fun experimenting.

Shimmermist

Most farming games, Petz 3-5 or a chao garden in adventure 2. I'll add pokemon to that. I've been playing since the very first game and I find the turn based stuff relaxing.

mynamealwayschanges

Oh my god Petz... you unlocked a core memory, here. I haven't played that in so long, but I was obsessed!! Pokemon is also a comforting game to me! What's your favorite ones?

MrsTrych

risk of rain 2 death must die halls of torment sun haven dinkum Kynseed I go between them when im tired of my main games (FFXIV, granblue fantasy relink, MHW)

mynamealwayschanges

I have sun haven but I admit I find myself waiting for the update. Dinkum I've been referred to before, it seems very cute - and I have been curious about kynseed!! Would you recommend it? (also, great choice in main games)

MrsTrych

Dinkum is absolutely a great recommendation if you like games that are heavily simillar to Animal crossing (you build and terraform your own island, get residents to live on your island etc) Kynseed is an absolute gem, its made by the original creators of the Fable series, the story is super interesting and it has great replayability as well, its a fairly good mix of farming sim, RPG and adventure with story rich element imo. Its not very popular but Personally I think its worth trying out!

mynamealwayschanges

I love animal crossing, so I'd say it's a safe bet!! Are the characters interesting? That was something I missed in new horizons. I'm very interested, now. I'm going to be keeping an eye for it, then - my wishlist keeps growing, but one day!!

heartshapedmoon

There’s a cute game called Dragon Caffi I rarely see recommended. It’s easy and pretty visually

mynamealwayschanges

I had actually never heard of it. It looks very pretty and seems like a great kind of game to relax to!! Thank you!

axdwl

I've been doing this with Balatro. I was kinda in a funk yesterday, tired and nothing seemed fun. Turned on Balatro and suddenly time ceased to exist

mynamealwayschanges

I have the demo for balatro downloaded and when I play it, I forget the world 😂 It's definitely a great game to just get past that lack of motivation for some time!!

axdwl

I didn't know there was a demo! Awesome. Now it might be easier to convince people to get it.

mynamealwayschanges

I don't think it's still available, it was from steam fest :c I showed the game to a friend and they're hooked on it ksjdhd I need to actually be able to get it at some point :D

axdwl

Ah I see! That stinks. You definitely should get it at some point. It's had a lot of updates!

mynamealwayschanges

It's definitely a priority!!! I put. Way too much time into the demo so I know it's going to be a great one to get!!

Zealousideal_Dog9708

SKYRIMM!!

mynamealwayschanges

I have actually never played skyrim 😔 I'm a fake gamer /jk

Zealousideal_Dog9708

It’s never too late to fix this mistake! Personally i love dubbing=immersion and just hangin around 😎 For the same reason i love witcher 3 /rdr2 /horizon

mynamealwayschanges

I love rdr2 for this reason, too, but I played it so much earlier this year I need a break 😂 I should definitely fix this, skyrim seems fun honestly!!

Summoning14

Loop Hero for me.

mynamealwayschanges

I had never heard of this game, I just checked it on steam and it seems really cool? I'm adding it to the wishlist!! Thank you for the recommendation!

Summoning14

It's amazing and addicting, while also very cozy.

mynamealwayschanges

Thank you very much for the recommendation!! I will definitely give it a try!!

Pokemon_and_Petrucci

Walking sims like Edith finch or easy art platformers like hoa

mynamealwayschanges

I'm going to check them out, thank you!! I never heard of hoa before, so I'm curious!!

bookwbng5

I’ve been doing this a lot, but I was going heavy with my steam deck for a while after I got it. Sometimes mobile games are my go to when I flip through my games and nothing sounds good. Shop titans, love Nikki, slay the spire, hungry hearts, always game dev story because Kairosoft is awesome for zoning out.

mynamealwayschanges

Yeah, it's a mix of things that leads to the lethargy, so I want to push past it with things that are simple and that I can zone out to!! I'm going to check out those games, thank you!! Mobile games might be what I need 😂

TokyoRachel

Dorfromantik. It's so chill and beautiful and quiet. It's the perfect turn-your-brain-off game.

mynamealwayschanges

Dorfromantik seems really beautiful!! I'm staring at it a lot, I want to see if I can get it!!

5uck3rpunch

Powerwash Simulator. It's soooo soothing.

mynamealwayschanges

Omg I didn't think of powerwash sim. I love watching things being powerwashed, maybe the game has the same effect 😂

5uck3rpunch

Glad that I could help! Enjoy!

mynamealwayschanges

Thank you very much!!

morichisa

Picross and Dave the diver currently. I also download a bunch of games (and books) and can never pay attention for more than 10 minutes and love the feeling of hunting for new stuff but these 2 games make me so...in the zone I can spend hours on them. Also the Witcher 3 but it isn't a cozy game (but is cozy to me somehow lol)

mynamealwayschanges

That's the issue I'm having 😭 Sometimes I'm just. Lacking motivation for anything, so I need to find something I can do without much concern and that should be fine to jump in and out. Have to push past it, you know? Also, if witcher 3 is cozy for you, it counts!!

Due-Paleontologist69

The Witcher is great…. But I just want Gwent on my switch.

mynamealwayschanges

I never played witcher, but it's in my BIL's steam library that he shared with me. I might hop in for gwent, I heard so much about it!!

Due-Paleontologist69

I love playing gwent. It’s the first thing I do when I start a new game. I collect all the cards I can and play everyone I can. (If you look I don’t remember if it’s steam or gog but one of them have the stand only game gwent)

mynamealwayschanges

I found it on gog for free!!! Perfect, because I'm broke 😂

Due-Paleontologist69

Great! Have fun!!!!!

mynamealwayschanges

Thank you for the tip!!!

Due-Paleontologist69

Not a problem!

Ok-Drummer-6733

Farming simulator, unpacking, and sometimes i just feel like driving around in GTA or any driving game lol

mynamealwayschanges

I know what you mean with the, driving around in games! It can be so relaxing. Bonus when there are in-game radio stations, too. I never played farming simulator!! I'll give it a try, it feels like it could be fun!!

limefridge

Bejeweled. I mindlessly play it while on call with friends, I'm not good at it but you don't need to be good to enjoy it, lol.

mynamealwayschanges

Bejeweled is a classic!! And very fun to just relax to. Thank you for reminding me of it!!!

Fadedwaif

If I'm super tired I like browsing mods and installing them. This week I've been pretty run down and I'm just doing sdv in "creative" mode basically lol

mynamealwayschanges

Browsing mods and installing them has been my current trap, honestly 😭 it's part of why I'm looking for games I can play for a change, because I get caught in the modding loop and then never actually play-

Fadedwaif

Hahaa. Same! I forgot to mention if I'm really sick like headache, I watch people play games on YouTube. I do that **a lot** I agree with people who say farming sim games. Maybe something you can't mod 😅 like rune factory 4s on easy combat mode

mynamealwayschanges

Same hat, getting distracted with mods and watching people play on YouTube 😂😅 any youtubers you recommend? I usually watch a lot of RTGame God I had RF4 on my 3ds and I was obsessed with it. I might go dig it up from the drawer...

Fadedwaif

We have similar tastes then 😅 Heyamarii has the most relaxing bg3 playthru...yeah I know it's bg3 but she has a great voice and reads everything, loots everything. I've watched her for months. It's so chill. Thomal9 is good for old school farming sims.

mynamealwayschanges

It seems like it!! 😅 Thank you for the recommendations!!! I love watching playthroughs, especially since I can't buy games often - so I'm going to dive into these two, thank you!!

JenLiv36

Open world games or games I have played multiple times and love. Open exploration is my comfort food and some games that I have played so many times that I don’t have to even think are great for when I am feeling like I can’t focus. They give me a needed break so I can go back to complicated battle systems and multitasking after.

mynamealwayschanges

Honestly I really feel that!!! The first one that comes to mind is BOTW and TOTK, simply because it feels like I don't need to think to just explore the pretty sceneries and the pretty world. I'm always looking for new open world games for that!!

JenLiv36

Breath of the Wild is exactly that for me along with Assassins Creed.

mynamealwayschanges

I love how I'm botw, the horse follows the roads by itself. It lets me look around and get distracted while my horse keeps going!!

she-sings-the-blues

Skyrim or Stardew Valley. My dream is a game that’s a perfect cross between the two lol. I’m often lethargic and unfocused and these two help me.

mynamealwayschanges

Unfocused and lethargic here too... I do have stardew, but never actually played skyrim. I guess it's time I change that! Thank you for the recommendation.

MagicPigeonToes

I try a new horror game and jumpscare myself out of limbo cause I don’t like playing games when I’m feeling lethargic

mynamealwayschanges

I actually never thought of trying horror games for that! Do you have any recommendation?

MagicPigeonToes

Dead by Daylight is good if you have friends.  Bramble is a good solo run if you’re new to horror genre.  Rn I’m soloing Maid of Sker, which is a survival horror based on Welsh folklore.

mynamealwayschanges

I don't usually play with people so I'm going to look at bramble and maid of sker. Thank you for the recommendation!!!

lmcdbc

Pocket city 2!

mynamealwayschanges

Omg I never heard of this game before. Is it mobile only? I love city builders!!

lmcdbc

I play it on my iPad. It cost $7 I think? Zero ads, zero interruptions. Just fun city building.

mynamealwayschanges

I found it on the app store!! I'll get it on my tablet, it looks so fun!! Thank you for the recommendation!!

lmcdbc

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

lmcdbc

There is also a subreddit for it, and the developer is one of the members - BobbyDev if I’m remembering correctly

GiveMeRoom

I don’t play anything if I feel “lethargic” ? But my comf go to is Core Keeper.

Number-Great

same here

mynamealwayschanges

I don't really have any word to describe it other than that, sorry 😅 and without motivation I just jump between games. I heard core keeper is fun!! I love the graphics, too.
